Just wondering if this was right? I'm extremely sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to the rooting process it just struck me funny why Samsung firmware would be in a Motorola. Or is that normal?

1. I dont understand what this has to do with rooting, seems like you're just goofing around with root file managers
2. If you look at the other files, there are micron files in there too, leading me to believe that these have to do with drivers or something like that, as micron is also a company which manufactures nand chips, and samsung does that too, so maybe it has to do with the ram/rom of the phone or something, i wouldnt really know as ive never had to look at these files.

You're right I was just exploring, I'm just wondering if it's supposed to be there. My phone has been sluggish acting strange
try a custom rom? i mean they have android 11 builds which seem to be stable according to their descriptions,
Moto G 5G Plus ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other
Improve your Moto G 5G Plus's battery life, performance, and look by rooting it and installing a custom ROM, kernel, and more.

All this talk of accidental bricking reminds me of my i910 days where if you bricked your phone, all you had to do was hook it up using JTAG and you could reflash whatever you wanted (you do need to know where to get the parts/tools though).
I'm fairly sure that the snapdragon platform on this phone, like almost every other embedded system ever made, has JTAG ports for debugging and the like. Has anyone made any progress towards finding them and using them? Or is it as heavily protected as the rest of the phone's security model? Any info would be great!
I know that in the G1 dev forum there is a JTag thread. You can ask the op seems he found them there. Maybe he's updated to the nexus or dinc and has some snapdragon test points.

The thread in question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591048
I didn't see anything about snapdragon in there...
I bought a "bricked" DINC for a steal and was hoping to revive it.
Recovery and system both appeared to be toast, but at least I could get into Hboot (S-ON). Well, after trying to apply a couple "Official" Froyo RUUs, I've now also pooched Hboot. The screen no longer comes on and I've verified it's not just the screen, since it's not recognized at all on USB and therefore no fastboot.
I found this JTAG diagram, and info on dedicated repair boxes such as ORT and RIFF, however I'd like to find a cheaper solution. Shouldn't it be possible to use OpenOCD and a Wiggler JTAG? Anyone here with actual experience working with JTAG on the QSD8650.

That's root for regular at&t s7 nougat! Can someone port this for s7 active?
Well, this looks promising.
shouldn't we show this post to activefan01? aka the person who originally got the s7 active root the first time.
i already discussed this in the main root thread ..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71371724&postcount=657
no offence to activefan atall, as he is the one who took the BIG risk and initiative ...
but in Post #85
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...3&postcount=85
he stated he actually used a tool called chimeratool
https://chimeratool.com/en/models
to get the root...
but yes that thread does look promising ...
was originally from JUSMEJOSE..
found from this thread ...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...root-s7-edge-t-mobile-released-t3555591/page3
but is promising that its out there so looks promising that theres a s7 active one too.... its just gotta be leaked !
Chimeratool is not a bad tool at all and not that hard to figure out either for someone with limited rooting and unrooting skills and they offer you support in the event you do run into a problem. But sadly a little to pricey for me. I got way too many bills to pay to still be able to afford that too on my very limited part time employment hourly pay. But if I could afford it I could probably figure out how to use it to maybe achieve root for android 7.0 but no garantees though. Basically all you need to be able to use it is the software, the specialty cable that they make you pay extra for, some skills installing firmware on android phones, and some rooting and unrooting skills for android phones which I'm sure most people on this website have by now. This website has been around for a very long time now.

An update from anyone if this has in fact been worked out for the active?

Hey everyone. I've faced with a problem I can't cope by myself. Once upon a time I found out despite the renewal was turned off on my phone that my phone was updated to MIUI 11. I didn't like it so much. It had buggs, terrible design and devoured phones charge like a fish. I lost my nerve and made rollback. so, I lost everything that makes a phone different from a brick with lights. After that I decided to read about ) but It was too late. So, I lost all of system settings due to antirollback policies. What about backup? certainly I hadn't made it. I had one on google drive but It didn't give it to download.
I found some efs files and managed to recover system settings such as wifi, imei, modem, almost everything except the mobile network and the internet. the engineering menu shows the efs is unknown.
It means the efs I recovered my phone isn't suitable for my phone version or I need radio.img in addition to, doesn't it?
I'm going to try input SN number via a special utility into the phone. I don't expect anything from this step, but...
I suppose I need some with radio band settings or something from it. Or I need to find the new EFS files, don't I? I remember the file I'm restoring the phone was the ancient fossil of 2016.
how much does it cost to buy up-to-date EFS? Where could I find them? Where should I look for?

Hey!
I've recently got a second hand Samsung S 4 Mini, and I'm trying to install custom ROMs on it. I managed to install an official seranoltexx Lineage OS ROM, as my phones reports to be a GT-I9195. But... it's not working. It boots, everything seems fine, but it cannot find any network other than 2G. That's odd. Original ROM worked fine. I though maybe I've got the wrong ROM so I tried serrano3gxx just in case: sideload fails, complaining that serrano3gxx ROMs are not supported (which was expected).
After a few attempt to fix the issue (manual network configuration, etc.), I checked the hardware inside, and... well. See for yourself:

Is that normal? Is it possible that the vendor mixed hardware from both GI9190 and GI9195? If so, how can I make things work? should I try to make a custom ROM supporting the actual hardware on my phone rather than the expected one? Any idea of how hard that would be? (I'm confident in my coding skills but I never built an android ROM before)
Thanks in advance!
My original I9195 also has the same 9190 numbers on the inside. So I assume thats normal.
It runs Arco's 11-rom without problems.
I have the same numbers.
guess its ok

Look at what is after GI9190. There is a slash, follow'd by "2" (which would imply 9192) and then a "5" (which would imply 9195). That's a speaker part which works for all 3 variants. What's really important for 9195 is to have a 4G antenna, as indicated correctly in upper left (view'd from back, opposite earphone socket).
I've done a lot of reading but haven't been successful in finding a solid answer, I have a note 10+ n975u, it is sim unlocked and I would love to root(if possible, I don't think it is) or at least flash a no carrier bloat loaded stock software. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a solid answer?

No root needed. If you optimize it will run well stock. Use Package Disabler to easily disable apps you don't want running.
Turn off adaptive battery... deal with power hogs on a case by case basis.
The Snapdragon variants are extremely hard to root if possible at all. Not worth the trouble or potential consequences.

Thanks for the info. The advantage I have in this case is that it is not my daily driver. Just one I like to mess around on. Back in the day I used to root every device I got the day after I got it. But I've been away from the game for a while.
You're welcome. I have two, a N975U (Pie) and a N975U1 (10). That's all I use... once optimized these get good SOT and are very stable.
