LG v30 vs G7 Audio Specs? Anyone know these audio chips well? - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hey Folks
I'm wondering if anyone knows which audio chipsets are on the v30 and G7? I have both, and these phones sound very different. They were released pretty close to each other, so I was assuming they'd be the same chipset, but it doesn't sound like that'd be the case.. Wondering if anyone knows?
If the sound differences are down to how the software manages the chipsets, I'll look at hacking the g7 firmware in some way... Possible? Anyone have experience doing this? Or is it on the hardware side the tuning is done?
Thanks for reading!

I can confirm that all lg g and v series phones that mention Quad DAC have the same chip. So it's down to the tuning. Apparently LG did the tuning for the g7 in-house.
So... Anyone know if it's possible to push the tuning of an android sound card to another device? Maybe this is done in the drivers... I'll post any results of my searching incase others are looking to do this.

looks like that first statement wasn't quite true. there seems to be conflicting information out there about who did the g7 tuning. from what I hear it could have been different in different regions..

WAVES MaxxxAudio - Oppo Find 7 possible on G3?

Hi all,
I found that the Waves MaxxAudio on Oppo find 7 is very interesting. ummmm...is it possible to port those on G3 ? I guess it does neeed a specific DSP chip to run on ? Please enlighten me!
I think the G3 does neeed a huge audio processing correction. Headfone audio quality is way too crappy. I'm using ViperFX with paid Waves IRS but i think it just induces too much latency

That is too bad to hear that g3 has crappy audioquality... Even with Viper? Do you have hi quality earphones or those that come with LG g3? I really need phone where is good audioquality because i listen lot of music with spotify, already ordered this phone.. Damn! The sound quality is worse than the Galaxy s4?

It does not sound great. S4 does have Wolfson DAC as far as i can remember. G2 and G3 come with Qualcom base DSP so thats normal if it sucks. Im using Senheiser IE8 for the headfone but it just doesnt feel right. I also experienced the same with LG G2 ( probably with all android fone ;P ). Maybe im just asking for too much there hehe. Anyway, i hate latency. If we can bring Waves from Oppo Find7 then i would love to try too. My works involve alot with those Waves plugins and I think they r doing great job in DSP realm.

well so far they couldn't even bring MAXX into F7's custom roms, don't know whether it's license or technical issue.

[Q] APT-X?

OK I have an LG phone and a LG 730+ headset, but it seems that my LG headset has APT-X support and my new LG-G3 doesn't. Which seems weird that a flagship phone does not have the codex that their headset would. Has anyone found support for APT-X on this new G3 phone? Since I don't know enough about the APT-X codex, is it hardware or software based? I asked because if it's software based maybe it can be added with an upgrade from LG, if hardware then it looks like I'm SOL and I really thought buying this phone would get me APT-X support.
I'm not sure exactly what aptx is but I do see them on my headphones as well buy my headset works fine with my g3
A few minutes on Google and I found this info...
From the aptX site:
http://www.aptx.com/product/lg-g3-smartphone
On LG's site, the spec listing shows Bluetooth 4.0 LE (APT-x) Connectivity:

So few devices use this codec. I definitely can't head difference. Used my Samsung that does support it and my g3. So change in sound quality at all. Head phones work just fine.
AWESOME G3
Heard it may not be enabled on t-mobile
OK thanks everyone for looking at LG's website and checking the specification (why I didn't do tha) but I heard that the t-mobile version in the US may not be enabled for APT-X codec, again another thing removed for no reason. Since I have root any terminal command to check this would be appreciated. I tried the one "getprop persist.service.btui.use_aptx" which was the way to check on the LG2 but it isn't the same I guess with kitkat. So I have no clue if the rumors are right that big Pink T won't support aptx.
I think T-Mobile rumors of them not supporting it is fallacy. Simply because other devices have it installed. From Sony, Samsung, and HTC. I think it's more possibly if it's no additional charge and a default thing it's there. If the manufacturer has it as an option and charges for it T-Mobile may have forgone paying the extra(like headsets for example).

i had 2 LGV30 H930 with me too and i have to say that this display is absolutely gorgeous and we have little characters by default here .
It seems we have more brightness OOTB on this Oled but maybe this is a software calibration.
No Banding problem at all until now.
Platinum Gray is the best color i had on all my LG Devices. Loving it
I just with they moved the headphone jack to the bottom if they're making a revised version.
Other than that, does it feel any different to a V30? Is there any reason to upgrage? Also, do you not live in the US? Isn't it carrier locked?

A lot of phones moved the HPJ to the bottom in the last years and I think it really makes sense imo. Especially on a phone like the V30 which is the ultimate audiophile phone.
I use mine all the time for listening to music and I wanna put the phone upside down in my pocket so when I take it out, my finger is already on the fingerprint reader and I can instantly use the phone. But if the HPJ is at the top, I can't to that because I don't want to stress the jack on the phones (it's one of the most common failure points on a headphone), so I have to put the phone bottom side down in my pocket. And then when I take it out I need to flip it in my hand or just take it out uncomfortably so it's already in the right orientation. But then I need to adjust my grip so I can get to the fingerprint reader.
It may seem like a really small thing, but sometimes on a long walk I can take the phone out tens of times and every time it's really uncomfortable. Also the other thing is more minor but if you plug some headphones with a thick and heavy cable, the weight distribution becomes top-heavy which also makes using the phone pretty annoying. Generally I don't see any advantage having the thing on top, but may be it's just me.

i live in ROME (Italy) and device has all every worldwide band that need in every country .
I've exported V35 from Kentucky where my friend lives and he had provided for me
You can pay in full on AT&T physical Store and they will provide you a permanent unlock code to unlocck network and all supported bands.
Generally i don't feel big changes in hand, it's the same product that V30 is. The "Core" changes are inside this Beast

me too. It's so comfrotable if you have a leather case where you put inside device and you are listening music or FM Radio .
Ohhh, big news : i' ve installed FM Radio apk provided here from OP :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/themes/lg-fm-radio-app-download-verizon-v30-t3689294
and it works !!!!!! FM chip is enabled by default !
FM Radio apk provided from TMO V30 on the same thread instead ....it didn't works.
This could be the best LG phone ever made. And incomprehensibly they won't launch worldwide
BTW: any chance to have a system dump?

Usually LG is famous to take wrong decisions worldwide
it's too bad LG value sinks like a rock. This is a fantastic phone, but after buying the V30 upon release for $800, I think from now on I'll just scoop them up lightly used on ebay 6 months later for half price.
I also see the updated the selfie cam. Which is great. But apparently the camera app has less features (since it's exactly the same as the G7), and the wide angle cam is 107 degrees on the V35 and 120 degrees on the V30. Another downgrade imo.

Can you dump the vendor partition by any chance?
We might be able to make use of it for the V30 and get a better Treble experience than the current vendor partition that we have from the Trebelized LineageOS rom for the V30.

Problem would be: different drivers for camera and so on, also for the chipset (except they split it up again, like the firmware in the v30, which for example adreno is split up in adreno 520, 530 (whereas the higher ones contain just patches for the lower ones, so you can take the lower named ones for a sd821 device)
idk about vibrator or so though, which would be nice though (damn special vibrator hardware in the v30 making everything complicated lol)
i just don't understood if USB Type-C here is 2.0 or 3.1

Also SD845 isn't "stock" big.LITTLE anymore - it's further evolved DynamIQ, whatever that means, also cache handling and structure is different (common cache between cores/cluster)
quite a different beast, actually:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12114/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-845-soc
https://www.neowin.net/news/qualcomms-snapdragon-845-benchmarks-show-massive-gains
In theory it has outstanding performance gains 20-45% (?) but in benchmarks it's more close to 15-20%, still pretty awesome for a generation upgrade
So with a custom toolchain, custom optimization flags, custom ROM, etc. you mostly will be able to get more of the full potential out of that phone
I like how it catches up to Apple's SoC in a BIG way

I doubt they would downgrade it on the V35 to 2.0 as the V30 has atleast 3.1 Gen 1 (former known as 3.0).
Just that LG only ships a 2.0 cable with the V30 (atleast my H930 only had a 2.0 cable...), used a 3.0 cable, and transfer rate skyrocketet
Edit: @wolfgart could you tell me the model number for the V35? (or get a kdz?)
I think i could use some of its implementations on the V30 (e.g. the vibrator, could fix that it becomes dull after a while, if it still uses the same motor for it that is)

Its basically a G7 inside a V30 case, with V30 display. Has the newer cams from the G7 too. Idk about other hardware components though (like i said, our special vibrator).

LG LM-T600L - msm8996 soc, 8000mAh battery, android pie OS, dual screen

https://www.mylgphones.com/lg-v60-lmt600l-gets-certified-by-rra-in-korea.html
LG today posted the kernel source code for LM-T600L
I just noticed that there are two battery files in the folder, LMT600L_Kernel_Pie.tar\kernel\msm-4.4\arch\arm64\boot\dts\lge
one is 8000mAh battery, and another is 6000mAh battery
is it mean that LM-T600 is an upcoming tablet?
@
I heard something recently as there may be a third G8 smartphone after the arrival of G8 and G8s.
Something related with LGs idea of fold display (let's say "Dual Screen" or "Triple Screen" possibility) even though it will lack some of the futures G8 and G8s has.
Anyway, for the "LM-T600" reference, you actually have 3 : the T600, T600L and T600US and as I assume, it's well a tablet : http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=T600
lm-t600us
these devices do not have a dedicated post yet, how do i ask for one?
i picked up a NEW , but broken , ( easy fix to me ) tablet, and now i need to root it, VERIZION put TONS of crapware on these things..
-note- i will gladly switch the KDZ as i NEVER plan on using this for cellular, if it helps. (plus it seems ALL HARDWARE is the same across the mobile versions except the frequencies.
PS: if you ever take one apart, message me, as its not hard, but there is a few tips to share.
does anyone know , can i flash another KDZ to my LM600 ? (i have a VS version, but would like to flash the WIFI only KDZ )
the chipset seems to be the same across the 600's ?

G710ULM Thinq queries from a potential buyer to help making purchase decision

Hello,
A potential new user trying to evaluate buying a G7 Thinq reading all the good reviews about the sound quality. Would appreciate if you can respond to the below to help making the purchase decision.
Queries
Is there any particular model to go for. As i have read only G710ULM supports wireless charging. But it is only available in 64GB/4GB specs. Are there any other models which support wireless charging , dual SIM, with higher storage space.
Does G710ULM support rooting . What is the last android version updated on it. Untill which Android version it is rootable. 8,9,10? (if it has received a Android 10 upgrade as yet). I know there are guides available on this forum, however wanted to know for quick info that whether it can be done successfully or not.
Does or has anyone tried installing Viper4Android or ARISE audio all mods on rooted G7, does it work successfully or faces any challenges. I know its more of a subject choice about the sound quality, but I have my experience and preference with these audio mods to tweak the sound just like the way I want.
Apart from battery life , are there any other gotcha's which i need to be aware of.
Thanks for the responses.

Hello
I hope my answer is of your help,
I have the variable 710ulm, I have it with root and currently in the evolution x 4.4 rom, if it has wireless loading, I only used android 8 and 9 stock with root but I saw some people who could root in android 10 stock, and I have not tried the viper4android because I don't feel the need to use it, well that's all I hope I've gotten you out of some doubts
