Question OOS 11 Call Ringing Random Failure - OnePlus 9 Pro

I'm on OOS 11 (India). Sometimes the phone doesn't ring for incoming calls, and I see the missed calls only when I wake up the screen. Same on stock and custom kernels. The calls are coming in, so it isn't a network or telephony issue. Only the call alert is silent. Before anyone asks, this happens even with the alert slider in the "ring" position, and I have selected a loud ringtone.
Anyone else having this? Is there a solution?

I don't know if this will help but in oos 11 if you accidentally press volume up and power button the phone goes on silent. I know I used to have a similar problem when phone used to randomly be on silent and didn't know why until I figured out the combo. Not sure if it's a feature or a bug as it does not indicate anywhere that is on silent and you have to move the slider to get out of it

Thanks. But the phone is not on silent when this happens. For some time it just doesn't ring for any call. Then suddenly it's behaving normally again. I haven't been able to discover a pattern.

how to "ignore/mute" incomming calls?

heya again.
i've got a P3300 with HTC WM6 (but same happened with WM5)
i was used from my older phones to get this options when a call was incomming:
- answer
- cancel (busy)
- ignore (mute)
now i am missing this last option. sometimes when i get a call, i want to just ignore it, mute the phone (and stop the vibration too) but without giving the caller a "busy" sign.
is that somehow possible?
use the volume slider button and slide downwards
yeah its the volume slider on the top left of the phone
well to clarify as others might get confused like i did.
when ppl. sais "use the volume slider" they don't mean to just slode down the volume. no
i've found out that if i wanted to ignore a call, i just had to tap the slider once, to mute the incomming call and turn of vibration. and it wont affect any sort of volume settings for next incomming calls.
so, thx for your replies, guys.

Notification sound questions

Is there a separate setting where I can turn only the notification to vibrate while leaving the phone ringtone on? I receive emails at middle of the night and it always wakes me up. At the same time, I do want incoming calls to wake me up.
Another issue. when I previously switched the phone from vibrate to sound in the notification drawer, it would make a beep noise. But today it doesn't make that sound anymore. Did i disable something somewhere?
Get Silent Time Lite on the market. Allows you to set times to quiet the phone but allow exceptions for the phone. So you can set it to ring for only contacts you highlight.
No idea about your second issue.

Settings > Sounds > Volume > System.
Maybe you put the system sounds volume down?? Hope this helps
I have put the system volume all the way up. The sound came back the day before, and I cannot get it to play again last night after I turned it from vibrate to ring.
Mine did that for a little while too. Fixed itself eventually.

[Q] How does Vibration Works in yours?

My Lumia 900 black vibrartion works like this..
During Incoming Call:
When in Vibra+Ring Mode:
Vibrates only for first ring and then stops. Only Ringing occurs afterwards.
When in Vibrate Mode:
Vibrates normally like any other phone.
Is my device working properly in Vibra+Ring mode. I hope it should Ring and Vibra till the incoming call stops. Correct me if I am wrong.. Is my device defective?
Thanks.
Can someone please answer this question by taking some time by testing your device and compare it with mine?
Thanks..
Are you saying your phone vibrates when in Ring mode?
I'm pretty sure my Vibra+Ring mode is the same as yours; it will vibrate on the first ring but then only ring from then on.

Mine works the same way... which now explains why i miss a bunch of calls when Im walking in the street in NYC and dont feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Doh!
This is kind of weird implementation. Hope this gets updated to vibe/ring at the same time throughout the entire incoming call.

Ok, yeah that makes sense. And yes, my phone works the same way.
I just tested my phone as well and it only does the initial vib then stops as the phone continues to ring. I don't like that. I like for my phone to vibrate and ring at the same for the duration of the call. Interesting find. I'll probably end up missing calls as well because of this.

Same here, vibrates on the first ring only. I didn't even notice that until I saw this post. This could possibly be an issue for me in the future but right now it's not really a big deal as I didn't even realize it. The only time I really do need vibrate is when my phone is on silent.
Yeah..this is an important issue as we might miss calls during traveling. Single vibe would not suffice.
Traditionally all NOKIA devices vibrates and rings at the same time. This device is working weird which can be fixed by a software update.
We should inform Nokia about this issue in their conversations by pointing to this thread.
I just tested mine. It will vibrate first and then ring, but once the ringtone has cycled, it will vibrate again and then ring, and so on.
Choose a short ringtone and set vibration to on. Then try making a call to the device. Allow the ringtone to cycle at least twice. I know this isn't the equivalent to vibe with ring, but at least I do get more than one vibration with my ringer.
Here's a observation...
I'm noticing that this phone actually NEVER vibrates and plays a sound at the same time. Such as new SMS or new email... the phone will vibrate first and then ding, same as an incoming call (vibe then ring).
So I'm wondering if there is possibly some sort of limitation (hardware or software) that doesn't allow the Lumia 900 to vibe & play sound simultaneously.
Thoughts?
I believe that WP7 is configured to vibrate at the beginning of every cycle of the ringtone.
Because of this, if you have a long ringtone such as a song, it will only have the chance to vibrate once before your voicemail kicks in.
To test this theory i changed my ringtone to "Topic" which was included with the phone.
As expected, it vibrates, runs the two rings that make up the ringtone file, then vibrates again as it repeats. This means that shorter ringtones will result in more frequent vibrations.
Can someone else test this to confirm?

You are right...works the same way..
Vibration in any lumia
I been having issues with the vibration as well. I have a Lumia 710 and have tried on a 800. The short ringing tone works fine to keep it vibrating.
But I´ve heard you can actually have the phone ringiing and vibrating at the same time.
there is a post in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11948890#post11948890
but it only workls with HTC. i have been looking for a program or a registry editor that can change the vibration function on a LUMIA.

Note 2 stop ringing if set to sound and vibrate

Hi,
I have a strange problem and I really don't know how to solve it.
The problem is related to the sound when ringing.
If I set the "sound and vibrate" checkbox in Sounds, then the phone rings and vibrate a little and then stop the sound.
The screen still show the incoming call and the caller still hear that the phone is ringing.
The ring sound sometimes stop immediately after it's starting, sometimes ring 1, 2, 3 ... times.
BUT, if I unchecked the "sound and vibrate", the phone ring normally, as long as the caller keep the call open.
Does anyone met the same strange behavior?
The ROM is stock 4.1.1 XXALIJ, rooted with CF-auto-root.
At this moment I don't have any sound manager / profile manager installed.
I tried also to clear cache from recovery, but nothing.
What could be the cause?
What can I try to make it acting as it should?
Regards,
Stefan
I hope it is not affected by any motion settings, i.e you are covering the screen with your palm or turn it over?
If you are asking if I'm covering the phone with my hand, or if I'm turning it WHEN it's ringing, the answer is NO
But if you are asking if I have these options checked in settings, the answer is YES. I have them checked.

Question No end call sound when hanging up if ringtone is set to silent

I know this might be a dumb question, but I'm coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro and when I had the ring volume set to silent I would hear a sound at the end of the phone call when either party hung up. Ever since I have set my Pixel 6 Pro to silent though, there is never a sound when hanging up a phone call. Sometimes I can't tell if the other person hung up or just put me on hold. Is there any way to fix this with out turning the ring volume on? I can't really have my ring volume on at work, but would still like to know when I get hung up on.
Do you know if the same happens when you use Do Not Disturb as when you manually have the ring volume manually set to silent? (i.e. don't have the ring volume set to silent before testing Do Not Disturb)

Just tested this out, had do not disturb on and ring volume up and it made the same sound hanging up as when do not disturb is turned off

Awesome! Hopefully, Google doesn't "fix" that workaround.
Thanks man, I must have been a bit slow on the uptake last night and didn't even realize this was a work around until you just replied right now. Now I'll just leave on do no disturb at work and finally be able to hear when a phone call ends.

Sure thing. I thought maybe there was a slight disconnect in our communication, but I wasn't positive.
When Do not Disturb first came out I hated it, but they've improved it so much, within a major Android version or two, I never manually set the ring/notification tone to silence, although there may have been once in a while I set it to vibrate, but rarely.
My last phone between the Pixel 1 and this P6P, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, they gimped DnD somewhat from stock Android for some dumb reason so that it wasn't quite as feature-full, but it still got the job done.
You can set exceptions for groups of people, particular people, particular apps, except media volume - very configurable although there's still always room for further improvement.
