Question Hidden apps - third party dialer - OnePlus 9 Pro

Hi!
Currently running LE2123_11_C.44
Using third party dialer Simple Dialer - https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Dialer
I can't access hidden space/apps section when using this dialer. Seems only to work with stock dialer (Google dialer).
When applying secret passcode and dialing it this shows:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is it supposed to only work with stock dialer or has anyone a solution for this?

Simple Dialer indeed does what's expected as per the standard: it tries to send the code as USSD. It's the stock dialer that intercepts the code to do something else: this behavior is not standard and is therefore a bad choice by OnePlus.
A11 pinch-out and fingerprint was a nice, clean and fast way to access hidden space: I really hope they'll reintroduce it in a future release.
Edit: what drives me crazy is that this new "secure" way to access hidden space requires dialing a code, which means that dialpad sounds are emitted and can be heard by anyone... and the screenshot of the dialer with the "secret" code remains visible in recent activities list...

Agree! At least to be able to choose for yourself which way to access hidden space.

percent agreed. The worst part is after it runs the code it doesn't get deleted from the dial pad. So next time you open up your dialer your code is staring at you in the face

Slide to Answer/Ignore for Xperia

hello, guys is it possible to combine a slide to answer/ignore screen with the default Xperia Dialer
something like this:
the answer/ignore screen while the dialer is still intact?

i totally agree with you. with MS changing rapidly, so many complications arise
you can install this dialer found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442154&highlight=blackstone+dialer which will give you the slide option to anser calls and also gives you a better dialer look imo.
@protiku: Have you found a program that just provides the slide to answer and unlock? I'm going to take wang_mk's advice/post/link advice.
@wang_mk: Thank you. I viewed the page, but again, so many downloads and options. I do not want Manila like my Fuze; I just wat the slide to answer and slid to unlock for the Xperia. What files will provide this? I do not want task managers, volume control, etc. Thanks!!
at the moment am using pocketshield, the only fault is it doesnt use the default xperia dialer, it reverts to windows default dialer. but its really cool.

Not necessarily, you can use it as well with Xperia default dialer. In Settings > Phone > Slide to answer > + > uncheck 'Yes'.
all you need is this.

Choose which apps show up in Gallery sharing menu?

I will never use the Messages app to send a picture (yes, never. I don't have an SMS plan) so I'd like to be able to remove it from the sharing list from the Gallery. Is there any way to choose which apps show up in that sharing list?
Thanks.

Only by removing the apps. You could go into the Messaging App Info page, and Disable it. As a warning, though, Messaging is one of the core OS apps, and disabling it could possibly cause instability. I've never had any reason to try it, but just keep it in mind in case you have issues; you can always re-enable it.

Any idea if this is the kind of thing a custom ROM could enable: choosing which apps show up in the menu?

Anything's possible; that could certainly happen. I don't see it as being a very widely anticipated feature, though. Just out of curiosity, I'm not sure if you noticed, but after you've used the sharing menu a few times, it shows only your top 3 apps (technically 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) that you've used for sharing, and then a "See All..." button below it. Also, your foremost sharing app will show up as an icon to the right of the sharing icon. Example below, with imgur, Messaging, Kik, and Gmail.

Just use Quickpic is is really good. I use it as my main gallery. Also has the option to hide stuff.
Thanks for the ideas.

AOSP/CM wish list

Hi, We all love pure android experience but sometimes vanilla android lacks some functionality.
From my experience with previous Samsung galaxy phones, Samsung got screenshot, call-reject with message since gingerbread. and these features made their way into vanilla android.
I do know that some features are already in CM or available as application.. but these should be native. IMO.
For me,
multiple clipboard (like in Samsung)
delete individual call log/messages from thread(I like samsung way too, multiple select like deleting threads)
Newline in messaging
predictive T-9 dialer
Send message to group
Please share your ideas that you wish to have in either stock Android or Cyanogen.

Why don't you simply get involved and code this ? CyanogenMod is not an ask and get serve OS. If you want something, do it.

Only if it would be easy.
Even though I've basic programming background( which is C language). coding is not simply just about code. but you need to know how things work. and most of android app is java.....
We'll just have to cheer him on while he goes to Google and CM to get these changes implemented

Question Language transcription =! english how add another language

hi,
i am testing the audio record app, and transcription only works if you record a voice speaking in english.
any idea how add another language?
thx for helping
You need to
1. Open Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications (app)
2. Press on settings (lower left corner, next to the keyboard symbol)
3. More Settings
4. Scroll down to the section Audio & language and there you can add/change Primary language and Secondary language.
Be aware though that - as far as I remember - the recorder app only supports English and since the release of A12 also Japanse, French and German. So if you want another language to function, it won't do.
Edit: I checked and yep, those are the only supported languages.

thxx a lot, but due to translation i guess, i dont find the app you call live transcrive, could you post an icon?
thxx a lot for your time
That was a typing error, sorry, it's Transcribe, with a B and not with a v.
this is what i get, the green or blue one?
The symbol should look like this
You should be able to find it under Accessibility, my rusty french says it should resemble something like Accessibilité
ohhh that s interesting.
i don t see the icon in app list, so i went to play store for download it and i had the "open" action button, so it means it s somewhere.
amazing how it works even in french, but i can t find the icon anywhere for add it to my home screen, weird.
thanks for your time
i ve found the trick, you need to activate "show in app list" wtf

That's ridiculous, why would they hide a useful app like this from search
My setup is not "clean", meaning I copied everything over from my Old P4 XL that had this transcribe app - that is why I'm not sure if I maybe actually enabled that by hand previously and just don't remember that.
Would be nice to know if someone here that made a "clean" setup without previous stuff could offer insight into his experience.

General Android 13 will reportedly add faster shortcuts for scanning QR codes

QR codes are an excellent, if under-appreciated technology nowadays, but part of the difficulty for some has been the hurdles in scanning codes. For years, the functionality wasn’t built-in on smartphones and required a third-party app. As built-in QR code scanners become more prevalent, Google is apparently adding better shortcuts for the functionality in Android 13.
Screenshots from what is allegedly Android 13 shared by Android Police offer a look at two new shortcuts coming to Google’s platform. One, in the Quick Settings menu, shows the option for users to quickly launch a QR code scanner from that menu, though it appears to be nonfunctional in this screenshot.
The other more useful shortcut Google appears to be adding to Android 13 for QR codes is scanner access from the lockscreen. Enabled through the Settings menu under “Lock Screen” settings, a “Show QR Scanner” toggle will “allow access to QR scanner from lock screen.” It’s unclear if this will function as a button on the lockscren or if this toggle will simply allow users to launch the QR scanner from the quick settings while the device is locked.
In any case, Google making any changes to how Android handles QR codes is a plus, especially as the codes become more and more widely used.

Or maybe just launch the damn camera app...
Or maybe fix the FPS so we can unlock faster?
Or maybe put more Charms in the Lucky Charms
Sorry Rode Warrior, couldn't help myself. Blame it on the madness
