Yes, on Android eleven there have been a couple reported storys of success. I personally installed the JamesDSP module, and then Android modification library module, and then viper, and all has been well.
Install JamesDsp.
Install AML.
Reboot.
Install SElinux permissive.
Reboot.
Install ViperFX.
Reboot.
Install driver.
Reboot.
Ok.
Now you can uninstall Selinux.

If you using root explorer try find viper4android 4.2 folder in root/system/priv-app.
Thank you for your information. I have got much easier way to use it(if you have magisk installed). First install the viper4android zip using twrp. Reboot. Then open mgix go to download and select viper4android. Just tap on the arrow and tap on install. After installing it will ask your permission to reboot. Just reboot your device and enjoy. Sounds tricky but process is as simple as water.
I flashed ARISE and it worked normally. But as for sound quality...meh

I don't think sound quality would still be lacking after you installed ARISE. Do share your setup (pm me, this isn't the correct thread) so we could get to the bottom of your issue.
Sorry for OT!

If the hardware is ****e any kind of software is not going to make it good. It's not magic.
does it work on aex 5.1 ,( the january update)?
Haha, very timely post. I was trying to get Viper for the first time on Oreo two days ago.
One question, are apps other than music players processed by Viper as well? I ask because I installed Arise but emulators and games didn't get audio processing, only my music players.
Thanks!

Hello everybody. I have Magisk and couldn't install Viper module, neither the usual viper .zip via TWRP.
Have you been able to install any of the available audio mods on your Z2 Play?
I too am interested.
I prefer the Atmos version, ViPERAtmos 4.8 Sony Beats Universal Edition, but I don't think it's compatible with Nougat.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I installed ARiSE sound system in my z2 play, which contains Viper and Dolby Atmos
I have a module called viper 4arise installed and its working very well

Could you post a link to the download / thread that worked for you? I can try to install and make a simple tutorial for other folks.
Thanks!
Here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709 install the last stable version
Thanks! I've looked at ARISE a few times, but it seems life meant steps to install. I guess I'm going to have to bear it.
Does it sound as good at Atmos?
I manage to install it. It's overall pretty simple. You can extract the installation .prop file to /emulated/0 and edit it there to get a 1 cycle install. Otherwise your first try will do just that and return an error (so you'll have to edit the file anyways).
I tried all versions of viper there but none worked (all showed abnormal status) also, remember to mark for installation the Magisk compatibility.
I'm using Atmos, working very nicely, but still wish Viper had worked...

That's weird, I have Viper and atmos working in my device. Previously I set SElinux permissive and installed Busybox
Oh that must be it. I have it on enforcing. Will test with permissive then. Thanks!
Well, it worked! AriSE with SELinux mode changer set to permissive.
Thanks a lot!
With Dolby and viper our speakers sound WAY better! Headphones are even more awesome!
Has anyone been able to get a v4a module working on 16.4 and the may update? I tried installing the module by viper50 and ahirion that has worked so well in the past... Doesn't seem to be enabling for me this time around for some reason. Any ideas?
Or other mods to recommend?
V4a v2.5.05 working fine with magisk 16.4 and may update here.

Same here, everything working smoothly with v4afx_v1.6.9.zip and magisk 16.4. Viper also works on P dp2.

Are you flashing in magisk or twrp? Which module are you using? Thanks!
I'm neither of the other posters, but flash V4A via Magisk using the module authored by Viper520, ZhuHang, Ahrion, and Zackptg5. Be certain that you select the new driver and the materialized version of the app for V4A to work properly.

This ^^ : point upwards: ! Especially the underlined part; it took me a whole lot of trial and error to figure this last part out...
In any case, I used the latest Magisk module (if you check the details of the modules, it'll show when it was last updated). If anything, supposedly you could just install straight away, but V4A gave me errors. I had to uninstall the existing V4A, reboot, install via Magisk module, and reboot before it worked. You (@Cowbell_Guy) might, at the very least, have to walk through the same steps for whatever reason...
Hope this helps...
Hello guys. I need viper4android for CRLI based roms.
I tried magisk's viper but it has driver issue.
I think our new kernel is different. Im not found any selinux permissive custom kernel. I think that driver issue is becouse of selinux enforcing. Can you help me please? Thank you.

Flash Magisk 17.4 in twrp and reboot. Install 2.5 driver, reboot and test it.
If it works go back to twrp and flash Magisk 18, reboot and it should work.
Version 2.6.0.5 is working without any problems. I'm using Magisk v18 and selected Driver version 2.3.4.0

That will not work, you just get a driver install infinite loop in V4A app. You need to install JamesDSP before V4A.
Check this thread for details, read all the posts on the 1st page

I guess the JDSP requirement is specific to the 9 Pro then. I just followed the steps I mentioned for my 8T and worked fine. I did get a processing issue (not related to driver installation), but I found a fix in the V4A thread. You can go through the official V4A thread here.

Yeah it's specific here I guess. All these people, including me, had this issue. Even after managing to install V4A properly I'm still on JamesDSP, as V4A gives me issues with convolvers and profile loading.
