Gentlemen/ Ladies,
Sorry if it seems to be a stupid question, the .jeg pictures that I saved on my xiaomi 11 lite 5g ne edition are unviewable on my PC.
Those .jeg pictures are perfect fine viewable with the xiaomi phone; and my laptop can see all others .jeg and .jpeg pictures just fine, except those from xiaomi...
Xiaomi is running android 11, and my laptop is running windows 10 pro/ 64 bit, not sure it is anything to do it--compatability issue?
The DCIM folder and all other folders can be seen once connected with laptop, and those .jeg are transferrable, but not viewable.
I tried using different programs/ app(s) and they all stated something like...bluh bluh bluh... unsupported, size is too large, or corrupted,...
But, size are not too large as I checked, and they are not corrupted otherwise won't viewable when using xiaomi to see,...
There is 1 thing which I did not try, that is, to reset the photo app , as I am worried that would wipe out certain things that I don't know,...as I mentioned, others .jeg or .jpeg from laptop or another cell phone are all good,....so I am worried the "reset" will make it worse,...
I tried a few steps available on internet, such as setting the "photo" view as default, repair option via advanced menu / windows,...changed 1 picture name to aaa and aaa.jpg, all with no success,...a
Any suggestion is appreciated,
thank you

it's .jpg.....my typo,...
I'd strongly suspect this is MTP being super jank. Long term thing.
Copy the photos onto your laptops disk then see if they open.
Hello Scratchling,
Thank you for your reply.
I did copy the pictures/ images to my laptop, and as you can see, unable to be viewed, and this is the problem !
Interesting enough, the photos which I took using the cell phone camera,...they all are viewable NOT only via cell phone, but also via my laptops,...
Say I save a picture/image from facebook or other websites, those are the one can ONLY be viewed via cellphone, but not viewable after I transferred to laptop,....this is what I am trying to solve,....
Any other siggestions,....thank you,...

I have the same issue with my Xiaomi 9T pro. It seems that the phone must strip out something from the jpg as it transfers.
The transfered jpg does open in in Adobe Lightroom, DXO Photolab 5 and Raw Therepee. So there is something that the Windows photo viewer is looking for that it can't find.
The Windows photo viewer says that there is not enough memory to open the file. I don't have an answer though.
I'm not sure this help you narrow down your problem or not but.
I tried Transferring .jpeg files save in my Xiaomi 11 Lite NE from Twitter, Reddit & download folder to my laptop and able to see those pictures just fine.
Bear in mind that I use Ubuntu and not windows and able to view those files in default picture viewer app also.
I'm not sure but it maybe windows or even Facebook saved photos. I have not tried FB saved photos as I'm not on that anymore.
I just noticed the OPs filenames. Are you accidentally getting the thumbs/temp images? Naming convention should be IMG_20220101_1234.jpg
@ludditefornow, @Ben 1 000 000 000, & @Scratching,...
Thank you all for your replies,....
@ludditefornow: .....Nice to know about those softwares / app(s) for photo editing, but honestly I don't want to spend that much of $ ....
@Ben 1 000 000 000: .....that's exactly what I tried to do, transferring the pictures to my laptop computer,...when I connected my phone with the laptop, it pops up 3 choices: charging battery, MTP / android Auto, and the PTP... I tried the later 2 & 3, ...yet it' made no difference.
@Scratching: I also noticed that regarding the file name, too....but either I copy & paste, or "move" those pictures to any folder in my laptop, it's the same thing,....and I tried to rename, (img- or img_ ) no use....
Yet I could just view all those pictures from the cellphone just fine, so for sure those are not corrupted,...I am just frustrated and not sure if it is a google's android thing they play that they want our pictures be saved in google's cloud or what?
I am frustrated by Windows 11 that they have those tiny little hardware parts requirement that "disqualified" many computers out there already,...
Don't know what to do? But I bet there must be a reason why it is this way,...is it XiaOmi, android 11,...or what other?

I didn't tell you about those apps so you can buy them. I noted that those apps still open the jpgs so it might help you narrow down with what is wrong with the Windows software and / or the jpg.

Hello sceryavuz,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, you are precisely correct.
Also photos that I took by using the camera of the cellphone, those have no problem, it is these images/ pictures I saved from weibo and other websites, are the ones I can ONLY view via cellphone, but can't when connected to laptop.
Enclosed please find 3 images I uploaded, first two are displayed via my laptop, 3rd one is a display via the cellphone,...I guess these are what you are telling me to show you,...
Any suggestions,....thank you again,....

I just got my self a samsung windows phone 7 and was looking around for a few hours. my question is, Is there a file browser(file explorer) built into WP7. I just cant imagine Microsoft settling with Iphone like interface where you need to sync music a photos and what not.
Simple answer is no and you won't be seeing one from Microsoft any time soon if at all. You can find plenty of threads on this topic if you take the time to search for them.
thank you. yea i would searched but didnt really have time to spare :\
I moved from an HD2 to an HD7 a week ago and thus far I haven't missed having a file browser. In fact I had completely forgotten about it until now.

It's probably because you don't do things which require that massively.
Like me - I never watch movies on my device so I did never care about missing codecs support.
But that doesn't mean they're not needed.
And BTW, regarding users etc.
The most successfull platform today supports all those missing things
yet it didn't prevent it from boasting a massive success on the market.
I'm probably going to try it this year, there are announcements of upcoming devices in Poland
unfortunately no qwerty ones (HD7,Trophy and this great LG)

maybe we don't miss it because we are not trying to use our devices as usb sticks (of which most people have several laying around).
The OS was designed that if something is stored on the phone, the proper apps can find them.
I too have not missed having a file explorer. The only reason I ever used it was to install cabs/ tweaks/ mods which are unnecessary on this device.

So I say still - you don't do things which require that. Fine for you.
Composing email with many different attachements is the simple example here, without success on WP7 right now.
Deleting unwanted files on the device en masse is the second.
Currently you cannot even put all the desired files easily on the device with one simple move
Like docs, videos, pics alltogether. Videos are compressed for instance AFAIK before beeing stored.
Zune does not support docs. All is complicated than.
Device's ability to recognize files by an app is not blocking seeing the file structure.
My SE X2 can do it like WP7, but with all the file explorer capabilities.

Never needed to do that yet, but I'm sure the ability to do so will come via an update before I need it. It was very, very rare for me to need to do that when I used WM too.

Docs sync to Skydrive automatically if you use Windows Live Mesh like I do. Videos, Pics and Music all sync over wireless to the phone via Zune. How hard is that? Drag 'n' drop.
Erm...have you actually USED WP7?

Yep, so are photos and music, all squeezed down to fit the phone's screen and memory. You don't HAVE to let Zune squeeze them, but it's an option I use extensively. No need for a 10Megapixel image on a 480x800 screen. No need for my mp3s to be more than 128Kbps either when using a bluetooth headset.

previously I used to be able to connect my phone to my MacBook and have iphoto start up and find the photos I took with the evo. however now when I connect the evo, iphoto only sees the photos in an older directory on the phone. it is not displaying the photos which are stored in my dcim/camera directory. is there a way to make it go back to the way it was before so I can easily import my pictures to my computer?
same here.
It may be cause by Android using the DCIM/Camera folder instead of 100xxsomething?
I was working not too long a go, but I have been switching roms a lot.
I think is a Camera.apk is used that saves to the latter folder, it should work.
solution:
http://vowe.net/archives/010622.html
make a symlink to the camera folder
It doesn't work, for iPhoto '11 (9.0.2) at least.
Okay, I did a little googling recently on this, yes the symlink method used to work.
However, now Apple support (google and you will find the link) is saying Android is not following the proper convention of digital camera (and guess if they gonna fix it?)
Reason?
Someone did a test (i didnt test it out myself, i may try it soon), if you have more than DCIM folder in your "drive," iPhoto wont accept that.
Question?
Can someone develop a custom mount similar to "Android's Mass Storage" mount, but instead just mount the DCIM folder only?
I am afraid I am not that knowledgeable in that area (yet) to proceed.
I realize it's not the solution you're looking for, but nothing is easier than dragging and dropping the pictures you've taken with your Evo into iPhoto.
Just my 2 cents.
Drag & drop works fine. However, the automation is the dream here.
We can however go to import menu, problem is, it imports everything and forgot about the previously imported images. It creates duplicates.. Yikes!
Apple and Linux never play nicely

Actually, auto-importing is easier.
Tested Auto-Import Fix. Works for me!
Here's an article I found that tells you how to set up auto-importing. It works for me using iPhoto '09 and Evo with Deck's ROM.
Works Great for me! I didn't write it, but it walks you through how to set it up and provides a pre-made workflow for download.
Hope it helps!

Yesterday I stumbled across a curious error. Zune told me that I had reached the maximum allowed amount of media on my HD7. It's not that my SD card was full or so, there's still 15 GB left on it. I had about 3 GB of music, 2 GB of videos, 400 MB of podcasts and 5 GB of pictures on it. I removed the media and am currently synchronizing again, since I can't believe that WP7 limits the amount of media in any way. Did anybody else ever experience such an error?
Just in case somebody else may face the same situation as I did:
there doesn't seem to be a limit for the total amount of media on a device. The issue I had was caused by a folder containing about 12000 pictures. Apparently WP7 can't handle or doesn't allow that many pictures in one single folder. I solved it by making several child folders containing 3000 images each.

Hi mate
Well, seems I was wrong. There really appears to be a limit to how many images you may have stored on the device. Even though I splitted the folders, it synchronized only 1300 images back to the phone. So around 10700 pictures remained unsynced. I'll try and contact winphonesupport via twitter. Maybe there's some workaround. I have tons of images of my family I use to carry around on my device. And I want to keep it that way.
I had a nice chat with the WinPhoneSupport on Twitter. It appears that Zune uses a database on each device which is quite limited concerning the amount of media it can handle. That means that - totally independent from the storage space left - it's possible that you just cannot sync anymore files if you have a huge amount of pictures on your device. I can't exactly tell what that limit is, but I had the error at about 35000 files. The support told me they'll escalate my report to the team, whatever that may mean. Let's hope they simply increase that limit.

First of all it's my decision whether I want to carry my pictures with me on my device or put them somewhere on the net. Secondly having all those images stored on a server would require a fast internet connection if you want to quickly browse through the (sorted) images if you're looking for something specific. Sadly you don't always have such a fast connection. Third and last: I consider it an issue when the amount of media - whatever kind it may be - is limited by a database with a too low capacity rather than the storage.

If he has enough space on the phone then why not keep the pics there? skydrive is not always accessible and could end up costing you if you don't have an unlimited data plan...
So, totally recognizing this is nit-picky and really more of a Windows question than an Android question, here's what I'm struggling to figure out.
When I connect my Sprint Galaxy S3 to my Windows 7 PC it shows up under My Computer as a Portable Device. I have changed that icon to look like an S3 by editing the registry (per instructions here). However, when I open it, I see two "drives" named Card and Phone respectively (see screenshot here). The problem is that both drives have the same icon (of a hard drive). I'd like to be able to choose an .ico file so that I can visually differentiate the two. Anyone know how to do this?
I have tried the traditional autorun.inf and .ico file in the root of the drive. But, those go unnoticed as they technically aren't drives (at least not according to Windows 7). Really any ideas at all would be welcome. Thanks!

I just tested this with a 3.3gb test file and it took 1 minute 20 seconds. That's about 45MB/s I think.

it's normal that it is slow when you move a folder with lots of small files in it
There so much lacking given informations to know what could be the issue here.
yep you will only reach max transfer rates on a single large file, if you transfer a load of little files each file will start basically a new transfer meaning you will never reach the full potential. it's the same on every single digital device a single large file will always beat out a bunch of small ones, be it windows, mac, ios or android, it's just the way file transfer protocols work.
UFS 3 is fast, but data transfer can be slowed down for a myriad of reasons, most commonly the number of files, such as a 2GB folder with a thousand small files, will take wAAAAAy longer than a single 4GB file.
Aside of that, if you're talking about transferring from PC to phone, or vice versa, there's also the unfortunate thing about only one data transfer operation being able to occur at a time.
Maybe you can clarify your issue.
Yeah, plus it depends of the cable, the USB port type used, the transfer protocol chosen, etc etc.
Since I see that someone here didn't understand what I said...I've dl 2200 wallpapers in one folder on my note 10+...transfer that file from download folder of my phone to another folder...that took around 6 min. Just to make it clear, it was not from pc to phone...it was all on the phone.
I've just dl same folder on my pc, and move it from one HDD to another HDD, took not even full minute.
Maybe it could be app that I've use to move it...but I doubt...
BIG EDIT: IT WAS DAMN FILE MANAGER APP!!!
Just used stock file manager from note 10+ and it was almost instant move...lol...
it should be near instant on the same drive as it shouldn't actually move the files, it only needs to change the indexing information for the files, so the new folder structure comes into play, as the files on the drives don't have to be physically located in a certain place to be in a certain folder.
