since I have to save some data from the internal memory and the display is dead, is it possible to connect to a second display (for example a TV) via the usbc port (the one to which I connect the charger)?

To use adb with your device, you’ll need to enable developer options and USB debugging:
Open Settings, and select “About”.
Tap on “Build number” seven times.
Go back, and select “Developer options”.
Scroll down, and check the “Android debugging” or “USB debugging” entry under “Debugging”.
Click to collapse
Code:
c:\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
c:\platform-tools>
Unfortunately the display is dead and I cannot follow these steps. Is there any other way to enable USB debugging?
pointing a flashlight at the display, I found that the phone starts in fastboot
unfortunately Mi account was not added to the phone

Hi all
I run a gentoo linux box and I have adb 'USB debugging' enabled on 1+5T.
When I plug in the cable I can choose
- Charge only <- choosen automatically
- Transfer files (MTP)
- Transfer photos (PTP)
- Use device as MIDI
But nevertheless I see an ISO mounted with files
- AndroidFileTransfer(OSX).dmg
- adb_config_Linux_OSX.sh
- OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup.exe
- OnePlus_setup.exe
If I choose MIDI the directory is unmounted and I can use adb.
But this choice is not remembered, ...
So it sounds a bit odd:
- why would anything mount if Charge only is chosen as default?
- why is there no choice to just ADB?
Also 'Wireless ADB debugging' does not connect (when enabled, that is) to port 5555
unable to connect to 192.168.168.151:5555
And indeed no ports are open on device when scanned with nmap from linux box.
Does this ring a bell? Is there a way to save USB adb as default and make Wireless ADB work?
Other than that : great device I am very happy and impressed.
ABD should work no matter what option you choose. (Assuming USB debugging is enabled)
Are you rooted? Wireless ADB needs root.

Wise words.
IDK what to tell ya. I'm able to access ADB no matter what option is selected and I'm able to see port 5555 open with nmap (adb wireless, no cable). Maybe a firewall is interfering?

Hi I am able to do so from Ubuntu as well. Not so from gentoo even if I delete udev entries.
My point is, why is there, under any circumstances, a mount if charge only is configured.
Can linux host overrule phone setting?
so im using a pixel 2 xl, and i cant seem to transfer files between my phone and any pc whatsoever, i used to do this easily before, ive tried everything, turned on usb debugging, use the notification drawer changed the cable, but nothing seems to be working, what coudl be the problem and how do i solve it ??????????????????
USB mode now always defaults to "charging". You have to change it manually to "MTP" each time. At least in my experience.
I had the same problem. With my Nexus 5x and USB-C to USB cable it works, but with my Pixel 2 XL it works not, so i had to buy a new USB-C to USB cable and now it works.
Not sure what cable you are using but do not use a USB C to USB C cable, make sure its a USB c to USB a.

Ive been having issues lately too. Doesnt matter which cable i use. It will connect then disconnect over and over again. IT may be my computer but not sure how to check why it would be doing that.
Are you doing gigabytes of data? If it's just in the hundreds of megabytes transfer to Google Drive. I do that when I have files on my computer I want over to my phone and vice versa.

I had the same issue with my Pixel 2 as well and after reading through numerous forums, I figured out how to fix it. its been two days now and I am still able to transfer files via USB.
Here is what you need to do:
1) Enable developer mode by going into Settings > System About Phone > Build number and tapping a few times (5 I think!)
2) Click back and then select Advanced > Developer Options
3) Scoll down the menu until you see "Default USB configuration". Tap and then select the option you require (ie: File Transfer)
4) Click back, then scroll up the menu till you see "USB Debugging". Enable USB Debugging.
5) Connect your Pixel 2 to you laptop/PC. The phone should appear in the Devices list in 'Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers. Leave it connected for another 5 or 10 minutes and it should become available in "This PC"
6) Disconnect the Pixel2 from your laptop/PC
7) Disable "USB Debugging" and disable "Developer Mode" on the phone.
8) Reconnect the Pixel2 to your PC/Laptop. It should now appear under "This PC" every time you connect and you should now be able to view and transfer files between you PC and Pixel2.
Let me know if it works for you or not.

I had the same issue on my notebook yesterday - the phone would connect, but once I transmitted a larger file the transmission was terminated after a few seconds.
In my case it wasn't the cable, it was the USB port on my notebook! I simply used a different one and then it worked flawlessly
Thank god my notebook has 4 USB ports, I pity people with notebooks with a single USB port

Got the same problem. Since a few days device isn't recognized on any computer. Tried serveral usb cables (they were all working before) - no success. As soon as i am connecting device to a windows computer it says "device couldn't get regonized properly". So it isn't recognized as android phone. So your method didn't work (tried all the steps before). I also remarked before, thad my device sometimes restarts as i plug in an usb cable. Mainly when connected to a pc but also serveral times only when charging. So i resetted my device back to all stock (even formated data), flashed original boot whitout twrp, no root. It's starting nice but i even can't install the update (january patch) through device. Alway gives me install error. So it isn't recognized in adb... So i can't use fastboot mode to reinstall twrp.... Any advice? Think gonna claim for replacement.... Seems a hardware problem.
Had something similar a couple of months back.
Just do a quick check with usb dac and otg. If they are not working, the component is fried. RMA.
Else, faulty cable or friend port in laptop.
Hello xda'ers
I have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, however I want to use the scrcpy github . com / Genymobile / scrcpy utility it says it cannot detect the phone.
ADB Setup and its drivers have been correctly installed.
USB debugging has been enabled in the phone.
But the ADB cannot detect the phone.
It still is not working, so I went into the phone, developer options and go to USB Debugging, Security settings, and toggle that on, but it asks for a Mi Account?, which I do not have.
Please help.
Might as well sign up for that Mi account, because you need the (security settings) toggle turned on if you want to control the device via scrcpy. What does it tell you when you enter the command adb devices ? Did you get the popup asking for confirmation on whether you want to allow the PC to access debugging when you connected the phone via USB? Also make sure MTP/PTP/whatever else isn't turned on.
It's odd, executing adb devices gave an unauthorized message on the computer console, but the security confirmation never appeared on the phone up until some hours ago. I authorized the connection and voila I can now see the phone's screen on desktop PC via scrcpy, however.....
The screen just freezes, I mean, I cannot interact with it on the computer. If I unblock the phone manually and interact with it, the screen refreshes properly on the desktop, alas this is an issue with scrcpy not with the phone or ADB. Maybe I should file a bug or search their site?
Again, you have to enable the (security settings) toggle in your developer options if you want to control your device from the computer. This is mentioned on the Readme on scrcpy GitHub already.
Found solution:
1. Enable USB debugging
2. Run any terminal as root
3. setprop persist.security.adbinput 1
. That's all, nothing else is required
Hello. I have an A50, and the screen has been losing touch responsiveness often. Is there a program that forces the screen to mirror to a laptop? The phone is unresponsive to touch so I can unlock the screen (though it has no pin or password at the moment), has debug mode enabled. Thanks in advance.
yes you can

make sure your device adb driver installed on your pc/laptop
Use the app "EVA Facial Mouse" which tracks face and moves the pointer on your phone.
First,to install this app you need a actual usb mouse to navigate since your touch is not working.
Once the accessibility service of "EVA Facial Mouse" is enabled you can do any on screen actions.

I installed some universal ADB Drivers but Im downloading amsung adb drivers, so let's see how it goes.

1. Enable USB Debugging - connect to PC - Select usb connection only for charging device - Debug option goes off.
2. Enable USB Debugging - connect to PC - Select usb connection for "transfer files" - Debug option stays on.
3. Connect to PC with USB debugging on and select "transfer files" - pull down QS and tap to select usb connect is only for charging - Debugging forced off in dev options settings.
Is it something implemented in Android 10? Never had a device with stock Q ROM. Used only custom Q ROMs on earlier devices and not exposed to this implementation if it is so! Did not want to upload a screen record of the same as it is about ~11 MB.
Can someone please throw some light on this and how USB debugging option has to be tied to USB connect choices - if it happens on anyone's device? And thanks in advance.
I have read this - https://www.realme.com/in/support/kw/doc/FAQ1114 though it is an older one but still not able to figure out the relationship when USB transfer files can exist without dev options but not the other way around.
