Why does the pixel xl benchmark so much lower then other devices even with the newer snapdragon 821. It's single core and muticore scores are quite a bit lower then say a device with the same ram and snapdragon 820.
I think google is playing it ultra-ultra safe on this phone and underclocking it.
If they start having serious issues like the Note7, on their very first Pixel phone, it would destroy the product line.
My theory anyways.

I was thinking the same thing hopefully they will update the kernel later down the line. Or once we can root and flash a different kernel and reclock it hopefully will see an improvement.

I've seen one but I didn't know there were two. I was going to wait until a recovery and root were available for it before I start flashing kernels.
There's 2 different versions of the SD821. There's a performance version which is what you'll see in the new Xiaomi phones, Asus Zen Deluxe phones, and the Leco. They have 2 cores clocked at 2.4ghz and 2 cores clocked at 2.2ghz. There is then the efficiency version, which powers the Pixel phones. Their clusters are clocked exactly at the same speed as the SD820.
According to Qualcomm, on version gives you 5-10% more performance and the other gives you 5-10% efficiency. Google has chosen the efficiency version. However after seeing a few Pixel battery tests, it lasts one hour more than the Nexus 6P which is great, but it's still not in the league of phones like the Samsung S7, S7E, and the dearly departed Note 7. Those 3 phones had the regular SD820 and last much longer than the Pixels.

It is not underclocked. It is just more energy efficient at the same clock as the 820. If it bothers you, just wait a little bit and I promise you that you will be able to OC it with a custom kernel. Then you can enjoy faster battery drain with absolutely no perceivable difference in performance.
Irrelevant number. This is the smoothest Android phone I've ever owned. That number can't tell you what the experience is like. Other phones have a higher score but run like crap. The phone was created to be an all-round performer. Not blow up in your hand like the Samsung M80.

lol. +1 for this point. I think people get too caught up in drag racing their phones with benchmarks. If it runs smooth I don't care what clock speed it is or what benchmark number is outputs.
Hi,
as the title suggests this smartphone is currently my top pick, i have a tight budget (120 euros/140 dollars); and the Le pro 3 sits comfortably at 116 euros shipped.
Would you recommend it? I have zero experience with modding but i'd like to learn; are the chanches of hard bricking it (x722) high? I would not be able to replace it for while.
Thanks!
At this price you can't get any better.
A few phones at this range might have a bet camera and the official support is almost non-existent, but it's beautiful, well-constructed, has good battery, a good community and it's super fast and smooth. Is runs everything without lags and the processor is equivalent with the ones of iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7, 300€/400€ phones.
There are currently 13 Oreo ROMS for it and will surely be more, P included.
As long as you flash files compatible with x722, you will not brick it.
Normally, it costs 150€, so run for it. NOW!
P.S. I think you posted in the wrong place, maybe you can ask a moderator to move the topic.

My bad, i thought this was the right section, sorry.
It still worth it AS A FLAGSHIP.
why should be worth? you have a "OnePlus3" inside as hardware.
The right place would have been the questions and answers section.
Just make sure you use the ROMs for the x722 some are universal some are not if you stick with the le pro 3 elite x722 development section you'll be pretty safe as long as you're careful and read everything in the first post you should be OK just make sure and do a full backup in twrp and copy it to your PC in case of problems. If your unsure about something don't do it till you're certain you understand the guide. Good luck
Yes and no.
If you want a phone that just works then get something else. Yeah, the Le Pro 3 has better looks and internals than other phones but the software is never perfect.
Currently all Oreo Roms drain the battery pretty fast, battery life is still good but not outstanding anymore. Also there are always some other minor issues like a wonky signal, app crashes as so forth.
The Redmi Note 4 or Mi A1 are the obvious other choice. You're getting a more "stable" package but the phones don't feel as premium, the RN4 also has worse camera.

Ah ... bullcrap. What does it mean "Oreo..drain the battery pretty fast"?
In technical terms, I charge the battery in the range 20-85%, and this delta of 65% = 2,645 mAh.
That charge lasts me a week (my Nokia E71 would not last that long).
Standby discharge + some usage = avg. 0.5%/hr (20mA/hr), airplane mode overnite = 0.1%/hr (4 mA/hr)
Maybe A1 with Nougat lasts longer with smaller battery, than X72x with Oreo...
And the RN4? To beg the commies for letting me to unlock my phone?
Really?
At this moment, the X722s (X720s long gone) are disappearing from the [Chinese] warehouses, ergo the price went over $200,
but if one doesn't have to pay any duties/taxes ... it is still a bargain for this 2 years old phone. https://tinyurl.com/ydamcw9y

Don't worry, the phone is fine. The battery still lasts quite long but I haven't gotten 9h screen on time on any Oreo ROM anymore. Things are constantly improving, you just need to spend a little time to reading the forums and flashing a new ROM now and then.

Oc kernel is not included. You can find it on dev sections.
I've compiled Resurrection Remix with over clocked CPU (@2.2ghz) and GPU (@800mhz) and it's not that much of an improvement. I'd say PUBG runs little better now and some improvement in benchmarks. Well, I wasn't expecting miracles either but let me know if anyone wants an over clocked ROM or kernel. I am trying to add exfat support (I'd be happy if any devs can help me with that) as many user wants but I'm getting nowhere for now.
I can even take it to next level with CPU @2.4ghz and GPU @850mhz but I think that would be overkill.

Well , good idea is to make only OC kernel and then setup it via kerenel audiutor eg. -- OC @ gpu would be nice because it is weakest part of MZP . I've just made benchmark on stock oreo antutu 7.1.3 = 75716 pts. while on latest Cosmos 3.2 rom result was 81703 pts.

Under volting is not a good idea, it creates a lot of issues. To increase battery life use smart pixels, build prop tweaks and also amplify and greenify. However for screen on time, lowering resolution and smart pixels are best options.

I think a kernel with overclocking possibilities would be nice. In fact, what I would really love was to see a port of Elemental X or Blu Spark kernels.
Be interested to see what type of benchmark results people are getting on their 6 Pro.
I know benchmarks aren't the be all and end all of how "good" a phone is, but they at least provide some indication and comparison on performance.
I've been using Antutu (latest 9.2.9) and on both stock and custom kernels, can't seem to crack anywhere near the average result for our device. Result attached is on Android 12L Beta 3 and Kirisakura 12L kernel.
Would love to see some comparisons and discussion...

Normally not charging except it was charging the time I got the higher 687k score.
Since many of you know or might not, OnePlus 11 start to throttle aggressively when battery temperature hits 40°c which results in several problems like refresh rate is locked at 60hz, whenever you playing any games the fps gets locked to 55 when battery hits 40°c when 43°c the fps gets locked between 45-50fps which completely takes away the fun of having a 8 gen 2 device. So to overcome this issue I am now sharing few steps through which u can overcome the issue and it is complete safe too, since I myself have been using it from months now
A) FOR UNROOTED USERS - Those who don't want to root their device can simply uninstall system battery app which goes by the name of "com.oplus.battery". Which u need to disable or uninstall to prevent the 40°c throttling.
B) FOR ROOTED USERS -
1) OxygenOs users with OOS 13 ( not 13.1 ) - These users need to flash the "vivothermal" zip via magisk.
2) OxygenOs users with OOS 13.1 ( not 13 ) - These users need to flash "Realme thermal disable" module
NOTE -> THIS IS ONLY TESTER ON CPH2447 MODEL WITH OXYGENOS, AND THEREFORE SHOULD ALSO WORK ON OTHER REGIONS EXCEPT CN SINCE THEY COME WITH COLOROS. SO ONLY USERS WITH OXYGENOS TRY

Whoa the heck, it actually works! I have my 10t unthrottled now. I was disappointed in the 10t at first, but this is simply game-changing. What was once a wasted potential of the gen1 is now a master piece. screw that battery app!

Nice to see it can actually be removed easily enough though. I flashed the disabler and my OnePlus 9 didn't boot loop but I want to let it cool down before I do any more testing. 52C battery temp is not okay.
EDIT: The disabler module definitely works on the OnePlus 9. Do you mind if I repost this in the OnePlus 9 forum, @Aka9413? People have been wanting this for a long time.

I really don't mind, since it's not my work also my goal is to help as many users as I can over OnePlus notorious unnecessary throttling issues.

That maybe due to Snapdragon 888 which is know for heating yesterday when I did the same test while at work at around 32°c room temp my max battery temp went like 43% and with 99% stability and battery went upto 43°c
