Is there a way to turn off the lock/unlock sound in factory software. I know it's possible in Lineage, so I'm hoping it can be done without unlocking the bootloader and installing Lineage.

I've been an Android user since July of 2010 when I got my Nexus One. Since then I have always wanted to play around with things that require rooting, custom ROMs, etc.
The problem is I've always been worried about voiding my warranty and insurance.
I'm curious how hard it really is to restore to the factory defaults(the way it came out of the box). Relock the bootloader, unroot, restore factory ROM, remove custom recovery, etc. Most importantly is there more than one method to get back to 100% factory default? Can factory reset be done without the "volume down + power" button combo, without hooking up to computer, etc?
I'd just hate to do anything that would void my warranty/insurance and then need to use the warranty/insurance for something that makes it impossible to return to factory default. For example, a faulty volume button or faulty USB port that causes a computer to not recognize it.
it's as simple as flashing factory images from Google then relocking the bootloader with fastboot
Hi - I want to upgrade my wife's encrypted OP3T from OOS 4.x to a Nougat custom ROM.
Her TWRP Recovery Mode has Pattern Lock on Boot protection right now, which I can get into without any issues.
When I tried to modify her OP3T in the past, I ran into a problem where I couldn't unlock TWRP after flashing a new ROM. As a result, I had to wipe her phone, and lost all her data. It led to unhappy weeks at home, with a "Don't you DARE touch my phone again" for a long time after.
I would like to take precautionary steps this time, and set up TWRP so that I don't need to input a unlock pattern.
Is there a way that I can disable the currently required lock pattern to get into TWRP?
You should be fine if you have the latest twrp. That bug only occured in old build of twrp. Or remove the option set password on boot.
Can I lock the bootloader again after flashing an update or does it completely brick it? Theirs no root installed because it just bricked my phone when I tried. Netflix no longer works and it's handy to have on the go. Thank-you!
you can lock the bootloader, it wont brick your phone but it will do a factory reset. and also you will be able to use netflix. But if you tripped knox, you will never be able to use samsung health, samsung pass apps (maybe more samsungs apps, I am not sure).
to lock it, enter the screen which comes before install mode, then long press volume up till the screen turns black.
then lock it.
after the factory reset is done, enter the developer options and re-lock oem.

Managed to root my phone now just kept reflashing it til it passed, strange, any ideas how to allow netflix to work? Managed to hide my online banking from seeing the root but I can't get netflix to work. I can't even see netflix on the app store either.

I am not sure how to do that specially for Netflix. All I can do will be researching, as you can do too. So I think you should open a new thread about netflix. Sorry :/
I recently installed Evolution X 4.1.69 after unlocking my bootloader in my Pixel XL. After installing the custom ROM, I found that the OEM locking has been greyed out in the developer option.
Since the built of the custom ROM wasn't stable at that time, I decided to revert back to stock ROM. Unfortunately, I relocked my bootloader before recovering the factory image of the stock ROM.
After that, my phone screen starts flashing with the Google sign and keeps rebooting. I am able to access fast boot but I cannot access recovery mode from there. Pressing the recovery option from there will still lead me to a continuous boot loop, similar to what happen whenever I boot the phone.
I have tried these attempts with no avail.
1. fastboot oem unlock, failed since my bootloader is locked.
2. fastboot oem reboot-download, it causes continuous bootloop.
3. adb sideload bootloader.img, since I cannot access recovery mode, sideloading the factory image doesn't work as well.
4. flash factory image, failed as it still requires me to have an unlocked bootloader in order to do so.
Any suggestions on what I should do besides replacing the motherboard or RMA is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
you relocked your bootloader.
user error.
You sound pretty sure that you locked your bootloader. Did you actually go through steps to do so? Or was it just the grayed out option in developer settings? Have you tried to boot to TWRP or Lineage Recovery from fastboot?
I was trying to disable and re-enable ADB so that ADB would pick up my phone, but I accidentally turned OEM unlocking off. I have turned it on but I'm worried in case my phone wipes itself when I restart it. Will this cause any issues?
No, it will not cause any issues.
Thanks, in the end it wouldn't have mattered as my phone crashed (no idea why) and it restarted.
It is only the actual unlock "fastboot flashing unlock" that triggers the wipe. Possibly relocking as well, I'm not sure though since I've never tried relocking.
