I've read that
A Google support document provides specifics regarding both points. Namely, your phone has to start charging after 9 p.m., while the alarm must be set between 5-10 a.m

However I noticed when I had my alarm set from 11pm till 09.30am the phone was already 100% charged by 9am so it looks like Googles own documentation is wrong
your alarm was set for 9:30 and it reached full charge prior to that. What am i missing? Seems correct to me.
Adaptive Charging is a bit buggy, mine usually reaches full charge at about 3-4 o'clock in the morning. You can get accubattery pro and see when your phone has reached full charge.

It reached 100% way before 09.30am so clearly isn't working or not in that time frame even though its correct according to Google..................it did state 100% by 09.30 though so lied to itself
I don't get the problem? I dont think Google state it will finish charging at the time set by the alarm does it? Just that it will slow charge and be 100% before the alarm goes off, which it seems like it did for you.
Either way, your phone charged.

why do you set an alarm from 11h00pm to 9h30am ? This is not how you do it.
set alarm for 9h30am only (if you normally get up around this hour)
Put phone on charger after 9pm the day before
Will fast charge to 80% in the next couple of hours. The next 20% will take the longest to charge.
Your phone will be 100% charged no later than 9h30am or close to it.

It was put on at 11pm
In my testing it usually hits around 80% 2 hours before the alarm is set to to go off. I believe within an hour of the alarm is when it's supposed to hit 100%. What time did you actually see it hit 100%?
I have a silent alarm set to 7am and it normally hits 100% with around 15 minutes to go, i quite often unplug it with just a few % to go if i wake up at 6.30'ish
In the past it hit 100% when the alarm was set to go off
Related
Here are my observations.
1) While charging with the phone power off. I notice I won't get a full charge (95% show when I have my phone on) Then the power will drop very rapidly. 4 hours standby and i am on 90%
2) Charging with the phone On, by in sleep mode. Same issue. Green light on and my phone show around 98%, and after 4 hours of use. drop to around 90% ish.
3) Method 1 or 2, Then i unplug the USB and plug in again. Phone will charge for around 10min. Battery indicator show 100% full charge. I manage to use the phone for:
- 58 hours standby
- 2 hours of talk time
- 5 hours of device operation
The device configuration is the same. Programs are install the same.
Anyone having the same issue?
I noticed with mine if i plug it in at night when i sleep it will charge fully then die while charged. Example. i will charge it from like 5% then ill wake up at like 4 am and see its 100% but ill leave it plugged in then in the morning when i get up it will be between 89%-95%.
You are using the battery patch. But it isn't fully accurate so it's hard to make any conclusions
My 2nd test result.
With the method of just leaving the phone charge overnight and unplug in the morning without topping the battery back to 100%. the result is
Standby: 41 hours and 40 min
Talk Time: 42min
Device Usage: 3 hours and 36min
Let me charge it again tonight and top up to 100% in the morning before i use the device. see if the usage time be better.
What I have noticed is that after the phone reaches 100% it stops using mains power and switches to battery.
So if I plug it in at 10pm, and it reaches 100% by say midnight. It will be running off battery from midnight, so when I wake up it is often down to 90-95%. The charge light still shows green.
This is backed up by the info in power section of the settings, which shows the "last full charged reached" or similar section.
So in summary, even if it is still plugged into the wall, after hitting 100% it will switch to battery (even though the phone indicates charging).
Anyone got a solution for this?
Last full charge was on 8th August. 3G ON 24/7 for Push E-mails
Standby time - 30hrs and 6mins
Device Usage - 3hours and 11mins
and I still have 60% battery left.

Jeez, mine wont last more than 8 hours with gprs and push email..
Does anybody elses TP2 switch to battery power once 100% charge is reached?
And anyway we can fix this?
Very annoying to wake up to a phone at 90% charge even thought it is plugged into the wall.
I've noticed that since I upgraded to CM-101 (I'm now on 106) that my battery takes FOREVER to charge. For instance, last night I went to bed around 1am and put my phone on the wall charger it was on 17% and when I unplugged it at 9am it was only 67% charged.
I'm at work right now and I plugged my phone about two hours ago and it was at 50% - two hours later and it's at 64%. Before it would at least be at 80% by now.
I haven't installed anything that I would think affect this (no major notifications, etc..)

Check your wake time, it could be that your phone is staying awake and sucking up the juice that should be charging it. Also, does your battery die quickly? A possible culprit could be tango, it has a bug that doesn't allow the phone to sleep.

I'll check out watchdog lite and see what it tells me. It did it again last night. I plugged it in at 12:30am and was at 23% - this morning I woke up at 9am and it was only at 89%. I turned it off and left it charging another 15 minutes and it was up to 96% when I turned it back on. With light usage (20minutes using Music and checking email/SMS message a few times) it's now 11:42am and my battery is down to 51%. It hasn't been this bad in at least a couple of months.
The only that I did over the weekend out of the ordinary was use one of those AA powered portable-chargers that I bought at a drugstore because I was down to 16% and wasn't going to be near a charger all day/evening. Could that have messed something up with my battery?
Worst ever
Mine too!!! this is crazy!!! my O2X take forever to charge and this not my first smart phone... i had HD2, touch pro, desire... all HTC. The only thing is this samsung n dual-core... doesnt make sense!!! so far anybody has resolution for this? HELP!!!!
Same with mine. Did you guys do the OTA update? I did it to watch Green Hornet and it wasn't doing it before.
I plugged it in at 1am @ around 50-60% and woke up at 8am and it was only @ 88%!
I used the wall charger, so it should be getting 1 amp.
UPDATE:
f*cking duh! ooops, my bad! I was developing last night and left STAY AWAKE WHILE CHARGING enabled!
Hey all,
Got a quick question about the charge level on my Desire after upgrading to Froyo. Basically before I used to put it on charge when I went to bed at say 11pm, and it would charge steadily to 100% and stay there until I took it off charge the next morning.
Now, since using unrEVOked and putting stock Froyo on, my battery will charge to 100%, then drop to around 89% and recharge again. It does this once every 3-4 hours it seems. I've done the whole charge til green, unplug, charge til green, power cycle and charge til green procedure and also wiped the battery stats in Clockwork.
At first I thought we'd had a couple of power cuts during the night, but it's every night and JuicePlotter shows an AC charge present all night.
Can anyone suggest what might be going on here?
JuicePlotter grab is attached to illustrate the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Nathan.
This is normal behaviour.
The phone has a safety feature that wont charge the battery when its full.
Ah, ok tahnks for that. Is this a feature of Froyo as it never used to do it on 2.1?
Sods law that it seems to just drop to 90% or so about 30mins before I am due to get up, then takes another hour or so to get back to 100% Maybe I need to sleep longer...or less
Nathan.

if you charge you device while off, it dosent follow the same 100% -> 90% -> 100% cycle, it will charge and stay charged
Anyone having an issue with their phone only charging to 98%? It will only each 100% if I unplug it for a bit once it reaches 98% and then plug it back in.

not seeing that on mine.
It does this by design. It prevents battery damage and prolongs battery life (in terms of life expectancy and usability over years).

I've had the 98% issue since day 1. I've never seen 100%. It appears to be a very rare issue. Otherwise my battery performance is great!

that happened top me on my first charge
just give it a couple charges it will start going to 100
I have to say battery life is great for me on pixel 2 xl. every time i charge it will go all the way to 100 %.
Hmm, I've charged it overnight for awhile now and it still won't get to 100%. It'll say that it's fully charged but will just show 98%
Experienced the same thing on my Pixel 2 XL. I did manage to fix it by powering the phone off for 10mins with it plugged in/charging. Once rebooted it showed 100%. Otherwise it will stay at 98 or 99% forever...
Strange thing happened yesterday. It finally charged to 100% and 5 minutes later I unlock the phone and its back down to 99% while still plugged in to the OEM wall charger (showing charging rapidly).
Copy and paste from my post in the Real Life Review section:
I would leave my 2 XL charging overnight (stock charger and cable) and when I wake up around 7-8 hours later, the percentage would either be 97%, 98%, or 99%. I've rarely seen my phone go to 100% since getting it on the 18th.
Whenever the battery hits 50% and I go and charge it mid-day, it would take a painfully long time to charge up after around the 85% mark (the general consensus and expected). I would check and it would be at 99%. After around 10 minutes, I check again and it shows 98%.
Needless to say, I disabled "show battery percentage". If the battery icon is full, then it's 100% to me.
I have this with my 2 xl too. It'll stop at 98-99, and if I unplug/plug back in a few times or reboot a few times it'll eventually get to 100. But it'll drop from 100 only after a few minutes even unused. Not sure if by design or a minor hardware issue.
Mine was charging overnight to 100% now for the last 2 or 3 days it's only been going to 98% overnight. Battery life is still good though.
I was wondering of was something to do with Battery Stats, maybe needs cache cleared or resetting somehow.
Actually I cannot even get mine to charge to 100%

Actually I cannot get mine to charge to 100 percent except two charges ago. That being said there must be something wrong as using the white charger and cable to go from 2% - 98% it took more than 5 hours ! I cannot get it to go past 99 % and I have been charging with phone off then with on and then according to Google support tried safemode but still no difference. Highly frustrating for a $1k phone. I finally shut phone off for the last 20 minutes and then checked the charge and it is now at 100% but what a battle and a SLOW SLOW charging phone.
I never charge mine to 100%, I usually take it off the charger around 85%. Not had any battery problems, don't think it's ever necessary to hit 100%.
I've had the opposite. Wake up it's 100. Listen to music on the way to work for about an hour (bluetooth). When I get there it is still 100 percent. Put it in pocket for another hour, check phone, 96%.
I turned off my phone when plugging it in last night hoping to make this go away.
When I turned it back on this morning... still only 98%...

yes, mine started around a week ago (black 64GB) today as soon as i unplugged it dropped to 98% used it for a minute n it went to 95% sometimes the phone wont even charge to 100%
Just noticed that adaptive charging suddenly stopped triggering in the last few nights even though I had an alarm set-up.
It just going straight to rapid charging.
Is it because the battery level is very low?
When is your alarm timer set?
Google only supports your lifestyle if you are a normal human being and wake up between 5 and 10 o'clock, other than that, good luck. Google doesn't like night shift workers, or other humans, they just get ignored.
Oh AND your phone MUST start charging first AFTER 9 p.m., otherwise it won't trigger.

"Turns out, Adaptive Charging only works under certain parameters. According to a Google support document, via 9to5Google, you must have an active alarm set sometime between 5 – 10 a.m. in order for the feature to work. In addition, you must also put your phone on a charger after 9 p.m. Otherwise, Adaptive Charging won’t kick in and your device will charge normally."

I see. I had my alarm set at around 7AM.
Didn't know about the 9PM rule.
I just unplugged the charger and plugged it in again, adaptive charger didn't kick in.
I will try again tomorrow.
Thank you for the info.

They said 9PM.
Tried charging now and it worked. Adaptive Charging kicked in,
tried it last night for the first time and impressed, woke me up and hit 100% so no worrying about the battery being worn/over charged
