What can be wrong with this DAC + smartphone combination - OnePlus 8 Accessories

Greetings, dear forum members!
I have a bunch of smartphone OnePlus 8 + DAC Loconaq CE0134 (ES9280C PRO) + headphones 1more triple drivers.
When listening to music after a few seconds, sometimes a minute, sometimes 3 minutes, the right ear in the headphone is disconnected (background remains there), the left ear continues to play. On my computer or my friend's smartphone (Redmi Note 8) this problem does not occur.
I used iBasso DC03 on CS43131 before, everything was fine.
I think it there is a problem in OnePlus 8/Oxygen OS which cannot work properly with codecs or ESS specifically/.
What can be wrong with this DAC + smartphone combination, considering the above?

Strange. I have used a similar dongle DAC with the same chip with no issues, and my Fiio KA1 (with a better ESS DAC) works without any issue on my OP8. Used them both with OOS12 and custom ROMs with absolutely no problem. Is the problem persistent across all media apps? I personally only use UAPP for my media playback to ensure the audio processing is bypassed.

[Q] Sennheiser MM550

Friends, I own a sennheiser mm550 a wireless headphone,
however I found that my note could not detect the headphone.
I need advice, do i need to install a certain bluetooth driver to make it compatible with a Galaxy note, or is it because of yamaha codec? are there any workaround?
product details :
Technology Bluetooth® 2.1 + EDR / supported profiles: A2DP + AVRCP + HSP + HFP
I certainly hope that I could use it on the note because it pairs fine with all of my ios devices
thanks much!
Works here (TM)
I own both the GNote, and the MM550, and both are working just fine.
Nothing installed, using the 2.3.6 Samsung rom.
Have you already paired it with another device?
If so, check your manual on how to un-pair it with the previous device.
Seems stupid, but i had the same ''problem'' with a nokia headset..
Just saying.
Yes, i've paired it with several other BT devices (Car, other headphones, etc)
i had problems with a discovery 975 and a nokia stereo bh504 but i solved it installing winamp, i think its the stock music player that have issues with some bt earphones.
That is something completly different
It just so happens, I’m not using the stock player at all
I'm using Google Music, RadioParadise streamer, and SiriusXM streamer.
I've also tried to use DeadBeef, but it appears it crashes when I’m trying to use it with BT. I'm assuming that the problem is with the player, and not the other way around.

OMG, thanks, it worked!
thanks for everyone who replied, much appreciated, now i can get the best sound out of my note!
Glad you solved your BT issue. I had a similar problem and was saddened mine would not work at all. I struggled with the idea of returning a possibly defective Note.
After some google searching for the headset connectivity issues, rather than Note connectivity issues, I found the solution. You may have found a similar solution, but I wanted to post mine here for any future Note user who might be fretting how to solve their BT connection issue.
The problem was indeed a pairing issue. Since my BT headset, a Plantronics Backbeat 9XXX, was already paired to my Vibrant, the Note did not even detect the headset. I tried rebooting the Note, toggling BT on/off, rebooting the headset.
I managed to pair the Vibrant to the Note, and successfully transferred several files, so was relieved to discover the Note was not the culprit.
Solution? For my headset, all I had to do was power the headset off, then back on again, but hold the power button while powering up for an additional 5 seconds or so. This cleared out its memory and unpaired it from the Vibrant. The Note picked it up instantly and everything works optimally now.
The Note's audio quality is pretty good for these almost audiophile ears. The only glitch I do notice, however, is an annoying on/off whoosh or clicking noise... Overall, I'm fairly satisfied with the Note's audio performance.

I can't say the same thing. Take a look here.

I also don't like the sound quality at all.
I come from an Iphone and a Nokia N-900. The note has by far the worst sound of them all. At least when it comes to music. With Podcasts (of course) the note (as any device) will cope just fine.
An Excellent device in all, if it weren't for the sound quality.

iPhone sounds is only average at best. It seems obvious you have no idea what you are going on about.
Note + PowerAmp + MM550 will get you a very nice sound, try it.

External HiFi USB-C DAC not working properly

Hi!
Last week I received the Pixel 2 XL, which seems to me a nearly perfect phone.
The only problem to me is the lack of 3,5mm jack output. Given the poor sound quality of Google's dongle, I decided to buy a HiFi solution, recommended by most audiophile people I know, the Sabre 9018 USB-C DAC by Hifimedy.
And now, there comes the issue. When I plug the USB DAC to the phone, it works flawlessly... for a few seconds. In fact, the sound is quite great for the price. But, after a few seconds or when the song changes, the sound stops. The song keeps playing in the phone, but there is no sound in the headphones, although the red light in the DAC suggests it is still receiving energy from the phone. I've used many apps, like Tidal, Play Music, Poweramp, Spotify, VLC... and it's the same with all of them.
I don't know if there is a way to force sound to keep flowing through the USB port, or if it's an issue caused by oreo's energy management, but neither the DAC's manufacturer nor the Google support know why it happens.
You guys are my last resort. If nobody here can hint a solution to the problem, I will have to battle with the DAC manufacturer to get a refund.
Thanks very much in advance for any help that may come!

Thank you for your help, but I restarted the phone, resetted it, and the Hifimediy DAC still does not work.
I think I will go for a refund, it seems the DAC isn't compatible with the Pixel 2.
I'll have a look at that Nexum Aqua you pointed out.

External DAC

Hi Guys,
Let's talk about the external DAC.
Afordable, or not...
I don't want to use wireless solution for several reason but this is not the point here.
My favorite :
Ibasso DC01
Unfirtunatielly not compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices. Wiring of the USB-C connector is not fully respected by Samsung.
Some says that it will work on some European devices (Exynos).
It will be soon available as unbalanced under reference ibasso DC02.
Same issue ?
Sonata HD cable II
Review here
I've read everything and anything on this one. I don't know what to think about it. More over it's unbalanced.
Clone from Tempotec

I have the Ibasso DAC and will be disappointed if this will not work with the Note 10. I have the Sonata and the Cozoy as well so will be trying them on the N10+ too. I prefer to use the iBasso for the Balanced connection. Does this mean it doesn't work with the Note9? My wife has this phone. I will try the Ibasso on that tonight.

I just tried the Ibasso DC-01 with my wife's Note9 (Qualcomm CPU). I have used it with PowerAmp and Tidal and it seems to be working fine.
Can I clarify that the Ibasso has not been working with Samsung phones or just with the Note 10?
I have ordered the Note 10+, but have assumed that the Ibasso will work with the N10+ as well.

It seems that they have issue with S9 S10 N9 and N10.
Not all devices are impacted.
See attachment.
Regarding ibasso, a French test website said to have had the problem with 50% of devices. Including S9 S10 and Note9.
Samsun was able to solve the problem via software for other DACs, but they can not do it for ibasso.
This French website advice to test the ibasso before buying.
Dac amps
I came across this usb dac by Dunu at a hifi show recently. Looks similar to the Ibasso, but was unbalanced. I did not catch the model number. I think it will be released soon as well

Few months ago I purchased TempoTec Sonata HD Hi-Res dongle from Amazon and actually was the first person to review them. Basically it is the same as Hidizs, just re-branded. Actually Hidizs was selling the TempoTec dongle. I asked them what is the difference between your Hidizs and TempoTec, their reply was "basically same thing..." The reason I went with TempoTec, as it was $19.99 and Hidizs that time was $29.99. Now Hidizs went over $40, not cool

Re: ibasso DC-01
I finally got the N10+ (Qualcomm) today
Have managed to try out the ibasso dc-01 dac this evening.
Crossing fingers, but so far no issues with it on the N10+.
I have used Power-Amp, Tidal and UAP Pro and all the apps have behaved with the dac.
Haven't encountered anything unusual.

Not noticed battery drain, but perhaps will see how it is tomorrow after a full charge and spend the day with it.
I have not installed any ibasso app, but have volume control with the N10.
I had to set hardware volume with UAPpro and volume works in bit perfect mode fine. Listening to Tidal with UAPpro as I type. Been great so far.
First thing first, I am not an audiophile!
Instead of paying the Type-C to 3.5mm Adapter for SS (no stock here anyway), bought the iBasso dc02
- plug and play as expected, no issue
- volume is louder, and clearer
- RHA T20
- Have not tried the iBasso UAC
Tested on:
Samsung Note10+ (Samsung Music Player)
Huawei Honor Note 10 (VLC)
Time to trash the Type C to 3.5mm adapter!
**** ...
i got the Ibasso DC02 for my note 10+ exynos and it didn't work ... audio came out from the phone speakers and the Ibasso UAC doesn't see it either ...

faulty unit? Have you tried it on other devices?
I already bought this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soditer-Adapter-Headphone-Realtek-Earphone/dp/B07MHH14M5
Planning on getting Note 10 at some point in November.
Works with Samsung
Just need to restart phone with DAC connected. I am jealous of the people who got it to work. Mine doesn't auto detect the DAC. But if I connect it and restart the Note 10 sees it just fine.
I had an email about the following the other day and maybe of interest:
ZuperDAC-S: True Portable HiFi USB-DAC.
I would not normally depends on the phone music because most of the mobile phones now are designed to work in games and movies or other type of entertainment except audio. If you like quality music try to use Chord Mojo, Chord Hugo or Other external DAC. I would prepare to buy a separate music player if you love music instead of depending on mobile phones. There are many decent Music player in the market that you can buy, if you like there are quality Astell and Kern Products like SR15 A&norma it just 799 USD and I heard there a sale on other stores like Amazon. If you cannot afford it try buying Fiio like X1 or X3 its cheaper but good quality music as compared with mobile phones. Another advantage is the battery of your phone won't worn out easily because you don't need to charge it from time to time.
Doesn't work
My dc02 doesn't work on oneplus 7 android 10 and huawei 6x my app is uapp and hiby
It work for Arround 1minute and then it make some noise
When i replug the dac it play music Arround 1 minute again
This works out of the box dedicated headphone jack, and up to 7.1 surround when used in VLC and Kodi. ?

Solution to USB-C Woes
Guys do not fret. There are two workarounds that I've discovered. One of them which is the recent more permanent one relied on talking to the right person at the right moment. Thanks to that person from Samsung Philippines.*
First, the temporary workaround was mentioned here. Keep it connected while rebooting and the system will detect it automatically.
For the permanent solution here it is:
1. Clear the USB settings of your Android device. Settings, Apps, Show System Apps, search USB Settings tap clear cache and clear data.
2. Perform a soft reset. In some phones power and volume down button.
Should now work without restarting it while it is plugged in. Tried plug and unplug multiple times. It now works!*
Hope this helps everyone! Pls post this solution on* social media.

It's doesn't work for me, tempotec sonata hd pro, note 10, only reboot with dac connected work for me

Bluetooth volume significantly lower than other devices.

So I've been using the same bluetooth headset for several months with a variety of different audio sources. I recently bought a galaxy watch to serve as the audio source while I'm cycling. The problem is that the volume is so much lower than it is from other sources. Even running the same podcasts or music, the maximum volume is probably 30-40% lower than what I get from my phone, tablet, and my older Ticwatch. It is so low, in fact, that the Galaxy Watch will not be able to serve the main function for which I purchased it - I simply cannot hear the audio when I am at speed.
I can't seem to find any bluetooth audio control on the watch that might account for it. Is there some trick to this, or am I going to have to return it?
Phone: Pixel 2XL on Android 10
Bluetooth Headset: Aftershokz Aeropex bone conduction. (Yes I know these will not give the same volume as other, standard in-ear headsets. My problem is that I'm not getting the same volume from these on the Galaxy Watch as I do with the phone, laptop, Ticwatch S, or Zenpad tablet.

Bluetooth earphones volume level too low and can't increase

Hi all,
I have the redmi note 8 on miui global 11.0.11 and I have an issue with the sound level when using bluetooth. I have a pair of bluetooth earphones (and also the same applies to car audio connection) that I'd been using with my old iphone 7 with no issues, I pair the same earphones to my ipad, no issues, I pair to my galaxy tab s6 no issues. When I connect it to my redmi note 8 the volume level is too low. Even when I max out the volume, I can hardly hear anything, especially outside during the day, even when I'm in a relatively quiet area (university campus with no students because of covid). I've tried bluetooth absolute volume limit in dev options (although that option does nothing on xiaomi phones ). This is driving me insane, I have tried with a couple of other headphones, still the same. In the car I can increase it to a level where it is loud enough, but the same level is then too high when I get a phone call. There is no option to sync bluetooth volume to media volume anywhere in the menus, I'm almost sure that is the cause of the problem but have no way of fixing. Can anyone offer any help. Cheers.
