Guys is there any way to extract the image elements from the watch face files, weather it is a .watch or a .face file. I think it would be great to be able to do this as I it opens up further tinkering with the images.

You have to find the correct folder inside your facer folder for the face you want to edit. Inside that folder there is an images folder. The names are completely random so I usually just transfer the whole folder to my computer. Change the name of each image to add a .png extension and they should display and edit like any other image file.

Just to add regarding the image names:
You can open watchface.json and the Edit page of the watchface on the Facer app for your reference. In the json the different elements of the watchface are separated by braces {} and identified by the tag "id". What you'll need to do is the count the element in the Facer app, and find the id tag in the json of the corresponding number. The "hash" tag will have the image name. Hope that's easy to understand.
However, this is probably only useful if you're searching for a particular image in a file with many images.

Just change the .face or .watch file name to .zip and run any extractor program on it.
Yeah its just a zip
The question is, is there a way to transfer .face or .watch files to ur watch without using Facer or WatchMaker?
Well, what exactly are you asking?
.face files are Facer files, created by and for use with Facer.
.watch files are WatchMaker files, created by and for use with WatchMaker. WatchMaker (for now) can also import .face files, although I suspect the new major update coming for Facer will stop this.
So, considering that those files are made for those programs, why would you want them on your watch if not through those programs? Or I'm maybe missing the point of your question here.
Also, I thought I had posted this but maybe I dream about it (that sounds weird). You can open, edit, view the preview image, sort, organize, and then export Facer and WatchMaker files on your PC using the little program I created recently. Link is on my signature.

The reason I would want them on my watch but not through those apps is because the main purpose of those 2 apps is to create your own watch faces. But I don't want to create my own watch faces because I'm not good at it, I want to use watch faces that have been created and shared by other users. So why would I want to spend money on those 2 apps if I'm not going to use them to create watch faces? If someone creates a watch face and shares it publicly, I should be able to use it without having to pay for it. That's the whole point.
Your program can only display faces on the PC, I'm looking for a way to actually transfer them to my watch. Facer and WatchMaker should at least allow you to use other people's design and only charge you if you use the app to create your own design. Public/shared designs should be free for anyone to use...

So that's the problem. You're confused. Facer and WatchMaker work perfectly fine if you don't pay the ridiculously small one time $1 premium. You're just limited to the free faces they give you. The one time $1 payment allows you to USE custom faces and also to make them.
You think those of us making the faces and then handing them out for free should pay the $1, but you the end user consuming the same faces shouldn't? It's $1, once, for something that makes your $250+ accessory immensely better. Pay the $1.
Nobody is going to get around that, and if they do, I'm sure the Facer and WatchMaker guys will have something to say about it. They work very hard to make these apps for us, you should support them.

Who's to say that I haven't paid the $1? But that's not the point, it's not about how ridiculously small the $1 is and whether I should pay it or not, it's just that I believe this "freemium" business model is being abused... We are getting to a point where there's nothing u can do with those "smart" devices anymore unless u pay, and keep paying $1 after 1$ then you end up spending more than what you paid for the damn device...
I just believe that if someone creates something and they decide to share it with someone else for free, this someone else shouldn't have to pay to be able to use it. Like say I have premium and I created a watch face and I would like to share it with my brother or friend, they shouldn't have to pay to be able to use it, that's all... Those of you making the faces end up paying for premium, spend your time designing watch faces and in the end the app developer ends up collecting all the money and you don't get anything out of it, that's not fair...
I believe the app should allow you to use custom faces without premium, premium should only be to create them. This way, those who are creating the faces can choose to distribute them for free or actually sell them and the income would be distributed fairly between the app developer and the face creators...
But it's not a freemium system. Those make you pay as you go, for more and more. This is a $1 investment. Once. Freemium would be pay for every 10 faces you install or something. Would it make you happier if it was $1 to get the apps in the first place? They have no obligation to make it be free, you do understand that, right?
If you want to make a face and distribute it to your friends for free, then 1) make your own program that will accept similarly created faces (and don't charge people to use it!) or create your own face as an APK and distribute that.
Point is, you're seeing the faces as independent from the programs. They're not.
My group and I provide free custom content for a game. We don't even accept donations, we don't have ads, we don't have any revenue. It's all expenses. Do you think our users should be complaining that they have to buy a Xbox/PS3/Wii and a game, and the game peripherals, because our content is free? Should they complain that Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo and the game publisher is charging them to be able to use my free custom content?

You're right, I was under the impression that .face and .watch are the standard format for android wear watch faces because it is possible to import .face files into WatchMaker and I thought .watch files could be imported to Facer as well, so I thought they were the standard format for watch faces...

The difference is that game consoles are a piece of hardware, it's different with software. Let's say you're a graphic designer and you designed a Logo using Photoshop (which you paid for) and then you want to give this Logo to your friend or sell it to a customer, your friend or customer wouldn't have to buy Photoshop to be able to use it, same with all other software like AutoCAD, PDF, etc... they all provide free viewers for their file formats, you would only have to purchase the pro/premium software if you want to create/edit content.

The Moto360 is an Android device. All apps, watch faces, etc you see on it are Android apps, which are in APK format. So .watch and .face are formats created by the creators of WatchMaker and Facer respectively to work with their software. WatchMaker decided to (without permission) import Facer files. Facer guy is not happy.
If you want to make your own and distribute, you need to know how to create Android apps. You need Eclipse, you need knowledge of Java programming for Android, and you need to understand Android Wear.
Or pay the $1 and have your friend pay the $1 admission price and use WatchMaker or Facer without having to do all that hard work yourself.
I think we've covered all the points, so I'm going to stop with this. If by now you're not convinced why these app developers deserve your $1 (and your friend's $1), I won't try to convince you anymore.
Does anyone know if you can still import .face (facer) files into watchmaker? there's a few facer watch faces i really like but i prefer the setup options watchmaker offers. I've been racking my brain on how to go about this. Where are the actual files stored? on my phone somewhere? on the watch? I'm using a gear sport tizen 4.0 if that makes a difference. I can't find any .face files from facer to change them over to watchmaker format. If this is even possible. Any help is appreciated!
I am brand-new to this, as I just got a Moto 360 (1st gen.) for Christmas. I was trying to make a watch face from a design. I had isolated the parts of the design i wanted for the hour hand and minute hand. However, every time i try to create the watchface in Watchmaker, the hour/minute hands have a white background. In other words, i cannot figure out how to create the design for the hands with a transparent background.
The main restriction i have is that i am only working on this through my work laptop, and i don't really have access to install new programs (i.e., paint.net, etc.). I have MS Paint, or any other program that is normally pre-installed.
Can anyone give any advice? OR... i could easily email the design parts to someone and have them build it for me. But i would like to know how to do this as well.
Thanks to all! Again, sorry for such a newb question.
I currently have a SM2 and enjoy a very useful watchface that I was able to completely customize with a huge amount of info produced by the very capable NeonDigit app that was developed by a member on here, it has about 10 individual data
Time/date
Time (other Time zone)
weather
Temp
exchange rate
battery for watch
battery for phone
calls
I also have an app that allows me to control powerAmp player (on the phone) remotely from the watch
All great and very useful
So I was considering buying a SM3 and have a few questions
1. In terms of apps etc is it all mostly Android wear and not SM3 specific
2. Are there custom watch faces like what I mentioned above that I can use on SW3
I just want to make sure that I can do mostly what I do now on SW2 on SW3 - is this all possible ?
I was using Facer time ago, it is awesome and there are a lot of watchfaces that allows you to do this
and about poweramp.. well i think android wear can control any music player, i'm using it to control play music
search for facerepo in google, there are a lot of watch faces
Thanks for the info and quick reply, will keep an eye out for a good deal on SW3
My SW2 is getting a bit old now and the charge/usb cover is long gone - can't find anywhere for a replacement, I think soon enough there is going to be water gets in there forcing me to change anyway lol
Well, the SW3 won't be getting AW2 officially, and the work-in-progress port don't look too promising. So it will eventually be out of date. Just keep that in mind when buying one in 2017.
Hello.
I downloaded the official watch face designer from here: https://developer.huawei.com/consumer/en/doc/distribution/content/themes-design-tools
and get along with it quite well. I am new to the watch face development, so I am unsure, which settings to use to create a watch face for the Honor Magic Watch 2 46mm. My problems are:
If I use series GT 2 (454x454), then data type "unread messages" is not available. PM25 is not available, too. Only AQI.
If I use series GT (454x454), then unread messages are selectable, PM25 and AQI as well, but there is no data type for stress. But I've seen watch faces that display the stress index. But how?
Because GT1 dont have stress feature so gt1 faces dont support it. And from GT2 there is new xml structure that handle all new stuff like stress. But unread message data type is not avalible in gt2 watchface building mode. Blame Huawei for this. We cant add it while in gt2 (or in Facemaker Enchanced mode). You can always use gt1 files in gt2/e/pro/honor device with unread messages, but without stress.
"HwWatchFaceDesigner version 1.0.2.18 seems..."
You can try older designer version and say to us if it support unread messages ing gt2 mode or not too.
GT2 mode has more new features, like circle widget for altitude/preasure, combo image for most datatype, option to make number with combo in any angle, distance, second time zone, changeable wigdets via watch. Also some options can be used to make touch-shortcuts that will work on gt2pro/GSpro.
I can say also that in GT2 mode you can make one watchface that have hundrets of background combinations. Maybe tausens. All configured directly in watch via watchface setting.
Alright. I was unsure, which Huawei model is equivalent to my Honor Magic Watch 2. It's the GT2, so GT2 is the model I have to choose, but then I am missing unread messages and PM2.5 (which is new to me at all). Are this particle density and the air quality index reported by the weather service inside the Health App or what's the source of these values?
I am in contact with Huawei, they told me to wait until November release of the designer. We'll see. Where do I get older versions from?
I wonder how all the current GT2 watch faces could've been made. There are some watch faces that contain stress and unread messages. They haven't been made with this designer but with Facemaker, right?

Can you post here hwt or screen of watchface that contain unread messages & stress feature?
You can use GT1 mode while build watchface. These faces works for all huawei watches, no matter if gt1, gt2 or honor. Faces created in gt2 mode dont work on gt1 only.
If your contact with huawei is true, I'm happy if will be new release with maybe new options.
BTW PM2.5 dont work for some or most countries. So at all nobody using it while creating watchface.

I'm afraid, I cannot. I checked the watch face store again more precisely, looking for this kind of watch face in particular - nothing. It must have been a wrong impression I got. I find watch faces with unread messages - obviously GT1 or only very few with stress, but they don't show unread messages. What a fail. Maybe that's why I started designing my own watch face in the first place
The new Designer is out! 10.1.2.28 and fixes the issue about the missing "unread messages" for the GT2 model PM2.5 is still missing, but will not contain any value in many countries (like mine) anyway.

Yes, very shortly just to get the idea, what it does
There are a lot more functions now than there's space on the display
Hello all! I've looked around and couldn't find a answer. Im looking to find out how I can add new watch faces on a live demo unit. I don't want to root and flash a room, but looking for like the location where faces are stored. The galaxy wear app doesn't let me download or install new faces. Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance!
Can anyone help!?
You have already given your answer!
My wife has a active 2 watch she bought from Costco. When I try to connect my watch to her phone adder downloading new watch faces, it tries to hard reset. Is there a folder that's they download to? Maybe I can copy her folder and move it to my phone.?
