Hello, there, if never used a kernel flash and I also have no informations about the kernels.
The only thing I know is that the kernel can manage something, what controls the time the phone will run in between of the charges.
What can you tell me?
My phone is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 (Ginkgo).
That's for everything.

Hi,
My Note is hardly 5 months old and i see that to dial a number twice it's taking 10 seconds! It pauses, returns back to the dialer and then finally dials. I'm wondering whether flashing a custom ROM will solve this problem and also if i flash one, is my warranty void for eternity?
Please help me out!!!
Thanks in advance!

Greetings,
It might be a good idea to install Quadrant (benchmark) and run it after you restart your device, to have a check on the hardware capabilities and compare.
If your device is loaded with some applications that hog its RAM with background processes you may need to uninstall them. Check your application manager, go to running applications to see what is using your memory.

Thanks a lot... Also I'm inclined to move to 4.2.2. Suggest that i use a custom ROM or wait for Samsung to release an official one?

It's your choice mate but keep in mind that on some ROMS you would lose some of the unique capabilities of your s-pen or some other stuff like HDMI out (on non touchwiz based roms).
I like to have a best of both worlds and running Criskelo ROM (tw based) v17 with saber kernel. It's still 4.2.1 but rock stable, great battery life and with overclock it's faster than stock ROM but you would need to run a benchmark to notice it.
Hi friend you can choose Swift rom, im using it and it is fast and im having a screen time of 8:30 hours, you can try it, or choose an aosp rom but youll lose all the s pen functions and the sammys camera, you can even try changing other kernel, hope i helped
Hi Guys, I thought I would make a thread here as i can not seem to be able to find a solution. Rooted my device obviously, everything is fine until I installed a "Kernel" (cant remember author) to overclock mainly then encountered several problems. 1: Wi-Fi has become unstable. It seems to either crash my phone or signal disappears after my phone is on standby for a period of time (variable). 2: My Bluetooth just does not work. At all!! I have not done anything more to my device so the solution (hopefully). I forgot to mention that it is STOCK ROM. I do not wish to wipe my phone clean, i want to find a fix. Possibly a more stable kernel. Overclocking does not want to happen either but the "Governor's, I/O Scheduler's and Underclocking" do work. If there is anything more you guys need to know please ask!!
Looking forward to ideas

It not the root that causing the issue, it the kernel that tried. If I remember correctly there's only two kernel for the S4 mini that allows overclcoking, and one of them has stopped developerment since last year. That leaves the F4k kernel.
He has two different kernels: one for the AOSP/CM (custom) ROM another is also a bit outdated for the default Samsung TouchWiz ROM. Are you sure you've download the correct kernel?

Well to my knowledge I had used the correct kernel....... I never used one from here but I did find a website claiming that F4k has a stock over clocking kernel...... Unfortunately for the life of me I can not find this website. I've managed to overclock with success using a apk. I found on here (performance control) brilliant tool!! Is there any chance you able to post a link to this stock kernel you talk about so I can test myself and report back? Everything else is working without a problem apart from Wi-Fi and bluetooth.

So I've come to a conclusion after many weeks of testing and searching........ Unfortunately the overclock kernel for "TouchWiz" roms is unstable........ looking through forums I can see that F4k has only realised a "test" version....... on the other hand I have found a kernel from Vikinger (if spelt correctly) that's has fixed my issue and is working great... shame it isn't overclocked nor under and has no additional governors..... any one with ideas please feel free to share..... many thanks.

Hi I just got my first android phone. A Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 with a very low price an spec
turns out that it is super slow and laggy, apps crash constantly, returning to home screen takes 2-5 secs
I've already tweaked it in some ways, like disabling animations, using light laucher, etc. (ART is not available though..)
I'm very new to Android world and I just wanna know if there're any other ways to speed up this phone
maybe custom ROMs or rooting? I can't find either of these for my model. CyanogenMod doesn't support my model and so do the other custom ROMs
It lags badly. Please help :crying:

Do you have model number ?
If phone is very recent you won't find any custom rom yet, so wait a bit.
Without custom rom you can't do a lot... Especially without root.
Try to disable a much apps (stuff like Samsung apps...) as you can, and don't use Touchwizz.
You can't do much more without root or custom rom.

The model number is SM-G313HU
I don't know if they will ever build a custom ROM for my model. Should I do an unsupported way? Please guide me.

Phone is brand new, i think you can't install custom roms easilly. You need to wait and see if devs are insterested in it.
Try to disable a lot of stuff and find a launcher without touchwizz, i have no better advices.

If you can't find guides specific to your phone try some generic tools such as towelroot

Dude, seriously? If you don't see what's wrong with your question then you shouldn't be playing
with those things. Lot's of reading and learning must you do, hmmm?
Yoda
okay, slightly dickish answer sorry.
you need certain abilities enabled at the kernel/driver level for some of the things you want
to do. which maybe be as relatively simple as patching kernel source and rebuilding or may require
rev-eng'ing proprietary drivers/binaries additionally.
you may be better served to researched a device more naturally endowed with these capabilities,
alternately a device with usb-otg support so you can use a dongle device proven to be
capable of these tasks.
ommmm
So because i used custom rom, this apps does not working?

sort of yes/no because the custom rom contains the software and the kernel is a custom build
it does not necessarily mean that your hardware is capable [meaning the device's capability, the kernel
having the necessary code and if there are proprietary/prebuilt source code unavailable/ binaries and firmware
support files which need to be hacked/engineered.
find out the device id of your wifi hardware and search it's id/name along with the function you are trying to perform.
for example
bcm4334 monitor mode
use the search engine that works for you, read carefully and fully and get yourself trained to follow trails of related/seemingly related
information, no matter how obscure.
good luck, may the schwartz be with you ! :silly:

I don't own this device, but I wanna port TWRP to it. I just wanted to know if anyone wants to custom ROM it/root because it would be a waste of time porting it if no one will use the custom recovery.
Also, I will need the device tree so it will take a few more days, as this phone is new and theres no sources available

Hello, be sure that I'm looking forward to have custom ROM on this phone. Till now I'm using my old phone with Alphadroid and my new A54 is still in the box.
I dont.....I love OneUI 5.1, so asbolutely no need.
Got the device tree. On my way to build TWRP
I wanted to buy this phone and i came here to check if a twrp was available. I wouldn't even know what to do with a phone without a custom recovery. Please someone make a custom rom too. Kudos!
YES Please!
You weirdos... searching for twrp and custom roms before buying a phone!
That's why I came here, too )

I just bought this phone a week ago and I'm eager to flash TWRP or any other reputable custom recovery on this device for that matter. Hoping that it's still in the cards...
yessssss please, just ordered this phone and it pains me to see this forum empty from custom roms, and especially TWRP, how can a phone exists without one
Yes please! There's a thread on Samsung's EU community that has problems with GPS and Battery, I am on the latter one, the phone has awesome battery lige for like 4 days and then 20-30% battery drain overnight with no screen time and no user app usage, the first big (May) Update did not address it, there's no official comment about it, no fix, the usual factory reset it response from mods, just overall terrible... And there's no Custom ROMs available... So yes, please, can't wait to get rid of OneUI and all the unnecessary/spyware/bloatware of Samsung.
