I just noticed it this morning. Have no idea what could have happened. No drops.
Visible depending on background and angle you look at it from. It's a black dot about 2/3 the way up the screen, left side. Is this burn in? No dead pixels from what I can see.
Purchased directly from Google. No insurance. If I need to send the phone back what I have to remove root?

I can see it but it's very difficult to work out what it might be.
To return? Yes, remove root, return to "proper" firmware and lock bootloader (ie make it like new)
I have sent back phones rooted before but YMMV.
Oops, think you better rma it asap...
If it has a screen protector it may have been caused optical interference or optical refraction by a harmless substance between the glass and the protector.

Might have been between the cover glass and display. It shouldn't be there as these should be manufactured/assembled in a clean room environment.
Well I contacted Google. They authorized a repair with UBreakIFix. Luckily I found one near me that actually has a spare screen in stock. Just dropped it off. They said it likely is the lcd even though it's an AMOLED. Should be ready by tomorrow. They advised me to remove root but okay to leave bootloader unlocked so I didn't have to reset the phone.
Update:
Already have my phone back. Ubreakifixit replaced the screen. They confirmed the old screen had a defect and I am good to go and already re-rooted. Unbelievable luck to find a local authorized repair shop that had a screen available considering how new the device is.
There have been so many replacement requests from users on XDA itself, Google is probably shuffling parts around. More returns, more parts.
Kiss your waterproof goodbye if you had those hacks "repair" it.... I'd have kept it with the blemish rather than have it ripped apart.

I asked about that and they said they did the best they can do as a human with the parts provided by Google. I have never had an issue with water damage on any phone other than leaving a phone in a washing machine 10+ years ago. It's not the end of the world if the IP68 is somewhat compromised. It's in a case and won't be near any water. The blemish was extremely annoying and I would not have been happy living with it.

I would have insisted that google replace it with a new one rather than repair since it was a manufacturing defect on an effectively monolithic item.
Damn, how can they miss that during the assembly process? They power the screens on and with the white splash screen it would stick out like a sore thumb. Surprising they made you repair vs sending you out a brand new device. Glad you're satisfied with the result!
It seems surprising to me because lately screens are laminated and there isn't any air gap between AMOLED display below and touchscreen above. B+

Clean room protocols were not strictly followed during some phase component handling.
Only a very a small amount of skin oil or any lubricant used in the plant could do that.
Chinese company BOE will produce around 15 million Amoled screens for Apple by the end of the year, or 10% of the iPhone manufacturer's total Oled orders.
Status change for BOE, supplier of new products in addition to reconditioned ones
As a reminder, in 2020 the manufacturer BOE had not reached Apple's quality standards to equip the iPhone 12, but the company subsequently managed to enter Apple's production line, but only for reconditioned products.

Can someone confirm whether the AMOLED supplier is indeed Samsung or a chinese company like BOE?
Who is the manufacturer? Is Foxconn the contractor selected by Google for assembling both P6 and P6P?

I definitely agree here. It's a brand-new device with a manufacturing issue, having third party repair shops have a go at it, might not be the wisest course of action. Google would have replaced this one. But - I guess - as long as OP has resolved his issues and doesn't have any more, it's not worth talking about it much more.
Even though it might case issues long term. Google has water damage indicators inside the phone, if the repair shop ****ed up, or if you just leave your phone in high humidity (bathroom or something) - and the phones water resistance is compromised ! - the indicators might change color - and if Google would ever have to repair your phone in the future warranty based, that's a reason to deny warranty.
That's the reason why you should never go to a repair shop as long as you have manufacturer warranty, let them have a go at your device as long as they pay for it.

Are you talking about the P6 Pro panel here? Or the Apple example from above? I can't find the comment that you are quoting.
If yes (p6 pro), then we will have to differentiate here a bit.
First we need to know if Google/UBreakIFix uses the same AMOLED for their repairs (compared to production). Not sure if we can get that information, unless we have a licensed repair centre rep here talking, or if OP is willing to open his device and look up the part number (unlikely).
I watched the Assembly video closely and Google labels the front panel with G949-00219-01, that seems to be an internal Google numbering.
-> 06:27
If we search for that (Google search), we get one result from a sparepart website
https://stellatech.com/en/google-pixel-6-pro-(gluog)-display-lcd-touchscreen-oled,a,840164.html/
Sadly, it doesn't state the manufacturer/supplier. But maybe someone else can find out more with that Number.
--
Concerning the Foxconn question, it was at least stated that Foxconn was hiring personell to assemble Google Pixel 6
-> https://iphonewired.com/news/111258/
Production of the Google Pixel 6 is expected to take place at Foxconn’s Longhua plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China.

Can't find any other info about that. I quickly checked my P6 Pros box the phone came with and it says "Designed by Google. Made in China" - so the latter would also add up to the Foxconn thing-y.

Something similar happened to me. The day I got my phone I was cleaning the display and some of the cleaner leaked between the glass and the panel. It grew in to a big grey blob and started moving from the top of the phone to the bottom. It went completely away overnight. It just happened again a few days ago when I was putting a screen protector on. Same thing, moved from top to bottom and went away overnight. Hope your's does the same.
BTW, from the AT&T logo you're in the wrong forum. I'm guessing the displays act the same though.

And I actually own the International version, I was pissed off when they shipped me the one with ATT logo but figured its just a damn logo, might as well stick to it..

The One XL (AT&T) display is made by Sony. Maybe it's different than the Acer and Sharp in the One X? The Gorilla Glass is laminated to the display and I'd guess that would be the same part regardless of who produced the panel itself. I wonder if yours is just the display part w/o the GG glass overlay? But then what's the moisture "blob" in between? Curious.

And that is my exact question, I just did some comparison with my shattered screen, the "blob" in the middle is exactly how its suppose to look like, I am guessing it is not firmly attached to lcd?

This actually makes me wonder, and as far as I once heard the designs on the at& the and the International one x may seem alike but as far as I am concerned there is a minimal design difference, but don't take my answer for 100% sure, but that's maybe a possibility. Correct me if I'm wrong.
A friend of mine just had his digitizer replaced after he smashed it and has the same issue as you. Looks like it's not bonded to the LCD properly, the screen flexes when pressed. He is sending it back for repair again.
This is why my One X repair is delayed.
I broke my One X screen over a month ago now. It's been at the repair centre for that long. The reason is that the market has been flooded with cheap, hand-made, screens that have this exact problem and they are waiting for proper screens to become available. The official screens are bonded using a machine - very few of these cheap ones are fault free.
Likewise, if you have the digitizer replaced by a 3rd party, the chances are that they will do it by hand, leading to this problem. Be careful where you send your One X for repair if you do not use HTC themselves.
Unusually glossy? Sure there isn't a protection film over it?

I think you're spot on. I'd imagine it would be almost impossible for knock-off screens to ever be produced as well as the originals based on this...
"The 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, which is the new version that's thinner and stronger. We first saw the Gorilla Glass 2 back at CES 2012, though the glass manufacturer did not reveal then which handsets will be featuring the technology. HTC also told us that the One X features optical lamination, a process through which the screen ends up laminated to the glass, resulting in better viewing angles. We found this to be true, and having the screen so close to the glass makes it appear brighter and more visible under sunlight."
Isnt there any kind of liquid glue we can use to make the screen crack invisible ?
No. If you want a perfect screen replacement, suck it up and pay for the price of an out of warranty repair.

I put on a privacy screen and it looked great, the crack is hidden perfectly. Then I turned on my phone only to find out the image looked awful.
I havent found anyone happy with these 3rd party screen replacements. I am very sad, I love my phone but looking at a horrible crack makes me want to smash it against a wall.
From now on I am putting a heavy duty case on my phones.
I dont want to troll but my SGS2 had plenty of terrible falls including a 7 foot fall against a harsh Walmart parking lot. Not even a scratch. My hox was shattered for nothing
I work in a repair shop, and this phone seems new enough that I couldn't find a teardown anywhere.. so we snapped some quick pictures so people will know what to expect. It is pretty straight forward, not a whole lot can go wrong(for the most part).

Remove the two screws on the bottom, then with guitar picks, your finger nails, or something that won't damage the screen/frame(non metal is ideal) pull the edges of the frame away from the phone- the bottom is most difficult, that is where you have to put in the work.
Also note where the volume and power buttons are, there is flex cable behind there- do not slide tools along inside as you may rip them, just carefully pry the cover from the sides avoiding those as needed.. also remember part of the back is glass(at least that is what I read and it appears to be).
Pull this frame off by removing the screws from the holes that you can obviously see. If I get time later I may circle them in red, but it should be obvious.
Two screws to remove from the mic/speaker at the bottom, then it can be pried off- be careful, but not a lot of risk of damage.
You should be able to see the connectors that were removed to remove the board- as I said, this is a quick walkthru, not a detailed teardown- enough to give the general idea.
This is with the screen removed- basically you heat the front of the screen and the back of the frame to loosen the glue that holds the lcd/digitizer in- there IS glue around the edges of the LCD(and on our replacement) which makes it nearly impossible to remove without breaking.. but you likely wouldn't be removing it unless it is broken. As you can see, there is no special connectors or board on the bottom to light up the digitizer you have to be careful of, so this isn't that difficult.
Here is our replacement screen, there weren't many vendors that had them, but this was found on ebay and appeared to be quality very close to the one removed, enough we couldn't see a difference. Make sure you use plenty of adhesive if it wasn't already applied before you purchased it.
Reverse to put back together- we had 0 issues, the most difficult part is removing the shell without breaking the glass on the back of the phone.
Hopefully this is helpful to someone, or at least will show them it isn't TOO difficult. Feel free to hit the thanks button if it was helpful, if it is appreaciated I may throw a more detailed guide up when we get another in for repair.

I have tried to replace the screen as well. I think the hardest part is to take off the back cover. The place near the power and volume is actually pretty easy to break.

Well, the tech who was doing the work wanted to take his time to make sure nothing was harmed in the process.. now that we see it is like the average teardown, we could definitely do a video on the next one- that was the plan.

Do you mean the power and volume flex cables that are glued to the edges beneath the back cover? We've done so many phones at this point we sort of forget how simple it is to make a mistake there.. I'll note that in the teardown instructions above.
If anyone else has any feedback or suggestions, or want to provide better pictures, let me know and I will gladly update- I just wanted to make sure there was SOMETHING out there for people who may be looking for it..
Since this phone is susceptible to glass cracks on the back due to temperature change (Like the one I purchased), a tutorial on how to replace just the glass on the back would be helpful.
Thanks!

Well i'm part of the replacement group.
Dropped my phone a few days ago, bottom right quarter of the screen has no touch now and a nasty crack in my screen.
Which seller did you buy your replacement screen from? And was quality good?
I will try and post a video, but this is my business phone and am in a rush to get it back to fully usable condition. Thinking i may end up buying the LCD/Digitizer/Glass as I have never separated a digitizer/glass from the LCD before.
I just got mine back today from an LG service centre. I had the same crack about 3/4" from the bottom with no functionality below that. Total cost of repair was $95. Not too bad since I saw the LCD/Digitizer for $50 on ebay. Plus I retain my mfg warranty.

Sasktel. LG uses a company out of Ontario for the phone repairs in Canada. Their name is All Tech Neek. I also contacted them independantly and they will fix your phone without dealing with your service provider. I just let Sasktel handle the shipping and stuff. Also, they require a deposit prior to cover shipping and assessment labour incase you decide not to have the phone fixed, but the deposit goes toward the repair if you decide to have them repair it.
Hope this helps!!

Hey guys.
Today I noticed I have these 4 really tiny bubbles under my screen on the bottom. I thought it was the screen protector, but I took it off and they are still there! They look like 4 miniscule dots. I can't really take a pic with my crappy phone camera but I'll try with a good camera.
Should I file a warranty claim with samsung? I think my retailer return period is up. It has been over a month since I bought it.

Hm, pretty sure these aren't dead pixels on mine though because I can see it clearly when the screen is off. When the screen is on, there is a little bit of distortion where they are. Pretty sure its small air bubbles or dust under the screen. Don't even know how that happened.
The bubbles nay be encapsuled in the glass of the touchscreen or lcd, or the note has a gapless screen, touchscreen glued on the tft, with bubbles in the glue. Definitely a warranty case.
I noticed the same bubbles. It doesnt bother me and I need my tablet for studying so I cant wait for a replacement. I might return it of we get a knpx 0x0 root once the holidays start.

Samsung cannot deny you warranty on a problem like this if you tripped the KNOX fuse. Refund from a retailer? Depends if they check, which I doubt
I went on a trip last week and they started showing up for me as well spanning from above the home button to beyond the back button. I was gonna sent it back as soon as I got back in Belgium, but now that I see this thread it has got me worried. I don't want to be replacing the tablet every half year if this is a recurring/common problem. Might just sell it when I get the replacement.
Samsung is just giving me more and more reasons to stay away from their products...
Honestly I'm very dissapointed with this tablet so far. Don't get me wrong, for those who want to use it as is you're probably very happy with it, but I personally customise the **** out of my devices and experiment a lot. My S1, Note1, Oppo Find5 have seen a ****load of roms and were fun to play with. I've always liked samsung because they usually have the best spects out there. But lately they have become expensive and hostile towards the community.
I've been talking to the wacom guys last week, and been asking them about their tech in the samsung note line. The reason you don't have configurable settings for your pen and stuff like that (offset, sensitivity, etc) is because samsung won't allow them to have a custom app in there. The stuff get licenced out and from there on samsung has full control.
At this point I'm actually considering just getting a 1+ One and a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, maybe have some Android dual boot action going on...
/RANT
Is there any way to remove this bubble under the glass myself?
I may have problem with warraty, also don't want to send the tablet back :/

I do not know the technical details behind these bubbly issues but - beeing an engineer, I am a lasy dude - after some days my bubbles have just disappeared.

I have now sent my tablet in twice for this issue. Repair is normally fast but it sucks being without my tablet. I'm hoping they will actually replace it this time around.
Same problem with my tab pro 8.4, it started off as one but keeps spreading (it is much worse now then in this picture I took a week ago), I also thought it was screen protector but I removed it and they are still present, I handled this tablet with extreme care so this is bs, will try to return it, I really don't want to RMA it..

I bought mine off amazon in July 2014 so its been about 3 months, It has always been used with the Official Samsung Book case, and the military shield screen protector from armorsuit.
This tablet never had any issues at all so I am furious a great tablet is going to waste over a defect like this (what did they use cheap glue?), and once samsung repair service mucks with it I doubt it will ever be right again....in my opinion all these tablet lines should be recalled as these cases all seem related bubbles start above the home button, clearly a trend here.
My P605 has this issue as well since three months ago. Annoying.
What color was every ones tab that this happened to, I can't help but notice all the black ones are no longer being sold by amazon or newegg ..etc, I asked samsung if they were already discontinued but they said its still a new tablet, But I don't get why they are out of stock everywhere?
maybe the black bezel ones have some glue defect or lcd defect
Could you tell whether these are bubbles of air in a fluid film, or lil' drops of liquid surrounded by air?
Under the colored rim of the screen there should be some foam tape, and I wonder whether the gap between touchscreen and tft is filled with something to improve contrast and clarity and to keep out moistness(will produce rainbow effects in narrow gaps, or both are directly glued together over the whole space.
Either way, the bubbles should come from pressure on the touchscreen while hitting the hardware buttons. Will squeeze out glue from the foam tape, or whatever they use, or pump air from the out- to the inside.
Just got this phone 3 days ago, cat jumped up on the desk I had my phone on, directly onto the phone, and then jumped down, causing the phone to drop onto the carpet. The screen is cracked/shattered. Does anyone yet know how to replace the screen/where I can buy a replacement?
I am in the USA, so nobody around here will service it until at least May 18th when it is released in here...
Please help...I'm devastated....
that's unlucky
I'm going to receive this phone very soon, what you report isn't really good news,
isn't this phone supposed to be gorilla glass 3? and as a matter of fact resist a simple drop on carpet? very surprising....

I don't have this phone right now but i have seen many asus users complaining about the screen...Their are many complaints regarding broken screen and Asus's fragile screen regardless of having gorilla glass 3
The shattered is around the very edge. I'm not quite sure if the shatter is due to the cat jumping on it and possibly a claw going into the screen, or if it was a result of the fall. Not sure. But yeah, supposedly GG3, but I'm not quite sure...

have you tried ebay for screen replacement?
this is what i did with a previous phone I broke, unfortunately the replacement screen had a defect,
but with a maintenance/disassembly guide, this is probably what i would try..

bad news, for me it starts to make a lot of inconvenients for this phone:
fragile screen (?)
very big size (almost phablet)
poor camera quality (software issue?)
I'm also quite surprised there isn't more interest from dev given its X86 CPU, because this was one of the main reason I got it first (non-ARM device and possibilities for other OS's (FirefoxOS, UbuntuTouch)),
now I realise the only thing that could make me keeping it is dual sim...

Most likely it is the fall. Regardless of having GG3 they still easily shatter by falling. Watch videos of dropping Samsung S1 to S6.. S6 did shattered even having GG4 equipped. I feel sorry on what happened on your new phone.. Im hoping you can get this serviced right away for replacement.
Wow, that's unlucky!
I dropped mine for the first time this weekend, onto a tiled patio floor from about waist height and it didn't break. I do have a cheap silicon cover on it though so that has probably paid for itself ten times over already.
Did you get the screen fixed? I dropped mine a couple of days back and the screen just shattered into pieces.:crying: I can still operate the touch screen, so I hope the digitizer and the LCD are still fine. I'm trying to figure out a way to get it fixed. I guess sending it to Asus Service center is the only option right now. I was wondering how much they will charge me for that. I'm in the US btw.
I have dropped mine 4 times , no damage so far. I have Asus' bumper case on it though .

The big size isn't a problem.Ergonomics is well,it stays well in hands.I wear quite skinny jeans and i can put it in pockets easily.Instead the fragile screen and the camera quality are very big problems :/
Even gorilla glass can crack from small height falls if the angle is right (or should i say wrong)..
Zenfone 2 does not have a magnesium alloy mid housing / mid frame like nexus 5 , lg g3 etc. The only "metal" thing inside is the LCD pannel cover, everything else is just cheap plastic. And we all know that plastic bends and glass shatters.
Gorilla glass 3 is strengthened and scratch-resistant, but it is by no means shatter-proof. If you drop a phone and you are unlucky with the angle of impact as it hits the ground then it will probably crack the glass. Bigger screens increase the likelihood of shattering. Gorilla glass 4 is supposed to give more shatter protection, but drop tests seem to suggest it still is not that effective.
Hi, I know this is kind of an old thread, but I don't want to make a new thread to ask a simple question about your phone. After you cracked it, was the touchscreen still responding or did it have problems like the OnePlus One and the LG G3 where the screen stopped responding? I'm considering getting this phone but I would rather know first.

Hi smartgid, i have shattered my screen too, have spare one standing, but for now my phone works great. No problems with responsiveness.
Pics below:
My daughter shattered her screen (zenfone 5 though, not 2) and it still responds as normal.
Hi guys!
My A2 Lite is accumulating some internal scratches on the touch panel / digitizer, since a few months ago (phone is only one year old), for some reason that I cannot comprehend. I never saw such problem on a Xiaomi phone or any other brand, is someone here familiar to this?
The scratches are only inside the touch panel, the screen is 100% functional. The phone doesn't have any external scratches or dents (always been used with covers)
The phone was bought on Amazon.es (third-party seller, but fulfilled by Amazon), do you guys think I can activate the warranty for this?

I would try to get in touch with Amazon if there is any chance to get it replaced or fixed. It's unacceptable for a year old phone to develop such an issue. It looks like screen defect rather than digitizer as you can clearly see backlit is bleeding through. If you read online there is many many complaints about this model. Good luck

thanks!
perhaps the photos aren't clearly showing it, but the screen is OK, the problem is only in the digitizer film.
I got the same scratches in this area

can you upload photos as well? perhaps this is a factory problem with A2 Lite model.
I have the same issue, I bought the device in the official Xiaomi store in Spain in August 2018. I put tempered glass from day one and I always took good care of it. The microscopic scratches started appearing below the main glass after the first year of use. They have a regular pattern of tiny parallel lines that grow inwards of the screen as time goes by, so it looks like a manufacturing problem to me. I have seen other people complaining of the same on official Xiaomi Spain forums but I didn't do anything about it because I needed my phone at the time and it didn't disturb the experience that much back then. Funny thing is that I can see individual red, green, and blue artifacts on the edges when the background is white.
This is how it looked 6 months ago:
This is how the phone looks now:
One thing I know for sure: I'm not buying any Xiaomeme products ever again (no matter what type) because buying cheap ends up costing more as our buggy updates have shown us :crying:
Same on my device, 16months old and its slighty visible on the right side and on the left top corner.
If i take a look at the pictures above, its time to look for a new device.
so this is clearly a factory problem, do you guys activated the warranty? I would send this exact link to the supplier/shop to show this is a common problem between A2 Lite phone users.
Please keep posting the photos from your devices.

I've finally found it after an extensive search.
Bordes de la pantalla estropeados. https://c.mi.com/thread-3093264-1-0.html?t=1605961007295
I was a very active user on the official Spanish forum before the disgusting Xiaomeme angered me so much with the buggy android 10 updates so I don't know of newer threads about this problem. Try in other official forums with different languages.
thanks for the add!
I think this XDA thread can start being a repository for this issue. The more the users and photos, the better! :good:

2 years, as for the rest of Europe AFAIK
I am using mine with 9H Screen Protector since day 1. Didnt happen just yet.
Possible reasons for these internal scratches.
Reason 1:
- Phone's edges leaks sweat
- Screen's edges reacting those sweats.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 2:
- Screen's edges reacts to the humidity.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 3:
- Screen's edges reacts to the sunlight.
- It gets worse overtime.
Reason 4:
- They build it with this planned obsoloscence trick.
- It gets worse overtime.
Definitely something wrong with the edges of screen. If anyone can send it to chemistry lab they will reveal the truth. I guess its just chinese trick.
Here's my device, which already has changed from daily driver to backup device.
Oh wow I had this too recently! Just got the screen replaced last week. I thought I accidentally crush my phone when I was asleep, maybe this has to do with Xiaomi after all.

Can you tell Screen and Touchscreen brands? So we can assume the next target.
I have no idea
