I'm finding that my phone will wake if I barely touch the power button.
If this happens while my phone is in my pocket, the screen is so sensitive too, that my pocket lining will unlock the screen and then start pressing buttons and turning off alarms or doing other odd stuff.
I do have "pocket mode" enabled. Any suggestions on how to prevent accidental unlocking?
I'm using the Spigen Rugged Armor case right now, which does cover the power button. Have a Trudia DualShield case on the way and hopefully that makes the power button less sensitive.
Turn display away from your body.
If the power button is defective, replace as an unexpected failure will prove very inconvenient.

Then you should put on a case which will prevent from switching on the power button.
Hi! I faced the exact same issue for some reason. I initially thought it was my case because I removed and placed my phone in it a couple of times. Was super annoying. I ended up removing my case and flashed Oxygen OS on my phone (coming from Evolution X). Faced the same thing on Oxygen OS as well initially, but later it settled after a while. Safe to say the issue resolved itself on its own, and I haven't faced it again.
Had problem with sensitive power button. Almost every time I was putting my phone to sleep it went double press and opened the camera.
Had this on stock kernel, Omega, but with arter's the issue is gone.
Maybe the app Double Tap would be helpful...
blow it out with air. i think it's because everything it so "tight" because of the waterproofing, but mine constantly opens the camera when i press unlock until i blow it out

I be careful with that. Using high pressure air inappropriately can have unforeseen consequences...
ask the victims of shop pranks
I went from CRDroid back to stock ROM and have not had the issue one single time over the last two-three weeks on stock ROM (with arter kernel).
Could be coincidence.
Or could be that custom ROM does not have finely tuned pocket sensors?

So i go my device about 3 weeks ago. last night i noticed the volume down button wasn't working, so i took off the battery cover and this is what i've found.
Theres a plastic piece that goes over the button and looks like the one for volume down as slid into the device, the volume up & PTT button's plastic cover looks to be going loose as well.. :/
I know i can take it into the device support center but they'll probably give me a refurbished device which i dont want. I payed for a new device, its fairly new and i should get a new device!
Anyone else experienced this?
ouch. it looks like your other buttons are a little broken too. how hard are you pressing those? ive had my tilt 2 for a month and a half and the buttons are still perfectly aligned and feel brand new.
Looking at my case and the vol/ptt buttons inside it doesn't even look like it'd be possible to push hard enough on the outside to cause that. However all three buttons do have the same internal plastic piece which is probably why the other buttons are going.
If you're under 30 days can't you return the device? I thought AT&T had a 30 day return period.
My volume buttons didn't break off like yours, but they did lose tactile feedback after a while. That is, when I press it, it doesn't click and bounce back as strong as before. They felt dull when I press them.
So what I did was put layers of scotch tape against the inside of the back cover where it would come in contact with the volume buttons. (Not sure if I explained it properly). Now my buttons work beautifully again.
If others are having this problem, please let me know. I can post some pics so that you can try.

I'm having that with mine right now actually, just started noticing it in the past week. I'll give your trick a shot, thanks!
so i got pretty drunk last night (almost like every night but thats a different story ) and i remember dropping my phone on the pavement. And just now i noticed the volume down button has fixed itself from the drop! haha
i tried manually moving the cover piece back over the button when it first broke and that didn't help. so i guess the solution is to drop your phone!
the desire owners will have noticed, that when you press the on/off button, the screen turns on and you will see the slider (with the time and date).
(unless you replaced it with an app or something).
now you can choose how to unlock it, either slide the slider down with your finger.
OR you press the menu button.
i have the desire in my pocket with the screen towards my leg (because it's more comfortable deu to the little curve on the bottom), and i KEEP pressing the f#####ng menu key.
in other words: my phone gets unlocked every couple of minutes.
my mates think its cool, because i'm calling the whole wide world from my pocket without using my hands or fingers.
but i don't like it, neither does my wallet.
i know there are unlock apps, but i'm not always sure what they do.
i'm looking for a hack/app that disables the menu key.
in that way the single and only way to unlock the phone is to slide the slider down with my finger.
so nothing will change EXCEPT the fact that the menu key can unlock the screen.
can someone please help me, because i'm really getting sick of it (even though the phone itself is absolute gold).
p.s. i'm not familair with rooting.
so you're pressing the power button, then the menu button in your pocket? how'd you manage that?
yeah.. i kinda should be in the world book of records for being able to do the impossible.
i made my last htc touch pro 2 brake it's screen when i flew off by opening the keyboard.
apparently the screen came off or a screw came of or something.
i'm good at that .
besides, i'm a big lad, and when i sit down the fabric of my jeans curls (english is not my native language, so i'm not to sure how to describe it), like a rinkle.
at the top it presses the power button (which gets pressed so bloody easily).
pressing the menu button is easy, it happends all the time apparently.
it happened before that i suddenly had a different background, deleted widgets, replaced widgets, called people, turned on gps, opened a program etc.
believe, i can get impossible things happen i'm just a professional clumsy dude haha.
but anyways, you got an idea?
I don't know how to disable it, but you could get a case.
Check these out:

I got one and they're pretty cool. Dirt cheap too.
oh right lol! i'd be careful if your pockets are tight, some people broke the nexus one screens with tight pockets, and my desire came with a warning to remove from pockets before sitting down
but i'm sorry i don't know how to disable it, i have rooted my phone and installed froyo which doesn't do it, but its not a perfect rom yet (certain stuff doesn't work)
If you keep the screen side against your leg, the screen will eventually curve in at the center. Happened to my N95 8GB. I can almost guarantee over time it will happen with the Desire. Dont ever sit on it. EVER.

i don't sit on it, it's in my front pocket.
but still, i understand what you're saying, and i geuss you could be right.
but then again, i bought a mobile phone so i could have a phone that's mobile.
and beind a man, i put stuff in my pockets, same with my phone.
so a phone should be made to be put in a pocket.
(not back pocket, because i'll crush it when i sit on it, but in the front pocket).
still, i would like to hear from somebody who found a way to disable the menu key.
it doesn't make sense to me at all, to have a touchscreen that you unlock with a button.....
still... nodbody seems to know anything as simple as turning off the function of a button....
I've got a Verizon TouchPro2 that I currently carry in a leather holster. Ideally I'd like a plastic bracket, but because I have an extended battery from Siedio my phone won't fit in one.
Anyway, the problem with the leather holster is that depending on how I'm sitting I can accidentally press buttons. No biggie, that's what a lock screen is for... that that works very well, expect that I haven't found one that prevents holding down the power button to completely turn off the device. Every once in a while I'll pull out of my phone to find it's completely off! Not a good thing. I've using S2U2 right now, and I know there's an option to block long press on HTC phones to power off. But no matter if I have this option on or off, I can still power off the phone with a long press on the button.
Any help?

I used to use TouchLockPro. I never had any problems like that before. Setting it up the way you want, in my experience, is a little confusing, but if you PM me, I'll be willing to help as much as possible.
-From a guy who also uses leather [belt] holsters.
Today I noticed that the volume rocker when pressing "volume up" is really loud compared to the "volume down" or the power button. Is this normal with the Pixel XL? Got it less then 3 weeks a go. used in a case from day one, never dropped and rarely pressing the volume rocker. Here a video to demonstrate the noise

mine clicks inconsistently. for the longest time I thought my case was pressing it down constantly or just was not seated properly, it turns out I had issues getting it to click without the case. I don't think my rocker is sitting properly within my phone so yeah

That's what I thought in the first moment too - today I replaced my Caseology case with the Tough Armor and that's when I noticed the difference. The rocker works fine but seen that I just got, I wouldn't like to have already a faulty unit. Oh well

Sliding it up/down seems to get it to set in right and stays that way until I take the case off. I'm using a Spigen rugged armor case, works great and thought it was my case causing that problem for the longest time until it wouldnt click even without the case
Any input from other Pixel owners? Just want to know if this is normal or if I should get my one replaced
same thing with mine. maybe not as extreme (hard to compare with a video), but it doesn't bother me
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the power button on their 2XL?
I have the Black & White version and the orange power button seems to be protruding less and less from the main frame, making it difficult to press.
It's still quite "clicky" but in comparison to the volume rocker it's much more be recessed.

I've noticed that. It seems to fit a little more flush with the frame. not a deal breaker for me. I've got a decent screen... Can't risk a replacement lol
Mine still seems fine, been kept in a Ringke case since new so possibly doesn't get pushed in as far as a naked button.
I've had it in the Google fabric case since I got it which also covers the buttons. I think it also may have something to do with that...the fabric case button is much bigger and pops out more...and now that I've taken the case off, the actual power button feels less prominent.
I rarely use the button.
So, I activate the phone using finger print and turn the screen off using "screen off" app

Ah good shout. I've just activated a similar feature in Nova Launcher. Thanks for the tip.
Yes, same here. Orange button seems slightly recessed.
My dad just got his Pixel, and I have had mine for over 2 months. Both power buttons are identical. Protruding slightly less than the volume rocker. It's definitely not getting worse over time.
I've thought the same thing on the ones i've had but this was the 3rd one i've had and all have been the same spot. Has never failed me yet though had it since launch
