LG G4 H815 - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
the battery of my LG G4 drains relatively quickly within approx. 2-3 days even when the phone is completely turned off. Is this normal behaviour or could this phone have a hardware error? Otherwise it's working very well, but I noticed that the water damage indicator is red. Thanks.

Batteries older then 2 years should be replaced as they loose their capacity. Maybe thats the reason on yours as well.

[Q] Heavy battery drain after SOD

Hi Xperia users,
I am the owner of a Xperia Arc S ICS .587 rooted that gave me satisfaction until some months ago ...
I was driving in my car with Google Maps and then the phone suddenly shut down. It was a SOD : I tried several times to reboot the phone, I removed the battery several times as well, but nothing. Finally the phone could reboot after 2 hours ... And since this date the phone has a VERY VERY heavy battery drain. It means that when I leave it on a table with a 100% charge without using it, the autonomy doesn't last more than 24 hours. Even when the phone is turned off, there is a battery drain of ~5%/hours.
I tried these solutions without success :
- Purchase of a new battery
- Wipe battery stats, then discharge and charge
- Wipe data/cache/factory reset (without the SD on which there is my apps with Link2sd), and then installation of a new ROM (Ultimate HD)
The day I was driving, I wasn't doing modifications on my phone of course ... just charging and screen active for 2 hours that makes it warm. If the battery or the ROM didn't change anything, I think it's maybe a component that burn/melt.
And some weeks ago, the white band on the side of the battery became red. The white band in the small hole on the back of the phone as well. What does it mean ? (you can see the pics)
I am looking for people who got the same problem ... or who can find what is happening exactly
Thank you

Excuse me, have you tried the Wake Lock Detector to see if there's something bad over there..?

I just tried it last night. Nothing special to report.
I was in airplane mod during 8h after full charge ... Notice that I lost 30%...
The module for monitoring battery consumption could be damaged. It was posted in forums a while back.

If you let it discharge and turn off, pull the battery out and reinsert it, does the phone turn on?

It seems to be relevant, as I really think it is a hardware problem. But I didn't find any discussion about this part in the forum.

I have never tried in that way. I know that when it arrives to 0%, it's really 0% and there is no juice in the battery. I will test tomorrow ...

I saw it a while back actually.
Well, it doesn't matter.
If it's a hardware problem, best to bring it to a repair shop and get it checked.
P.S The white band near the battery seems to be a fuse of some sort. Strongly suggest to get it checked.

I wanted to know if the problem was common, and what are the reasons.
I sent a mail to Sony, I will give news about the problem

Hmmm, I had the same problem with other phones but for different reasons.
My Nokia 5610 had a piece of paper attached to the battery compartment. When it turned red, it meant that the motherboard had been corroded.
For my friend's Motorola Razr, there is a fuse inside the phone that will blow if he unlocks the bootloader. There is no indication by visual inspection but it will show under detailed inspection.
I think your case may be hardware failure, since you got the red band after your phone got SOD.

The phone is working perfectly, except the autonomy. I think a damaged motherboard would cause bigger problems.
Even if I have a custom ROM, I didn't unlock my bootloader. And the battery became red about 2-3 weeks ago, my SOD was 5 months ago. Maybe the battery begins to suffer from the high consumption.

[Q] Sudden shutdown while in pocket

Hello,
Few weeks ago all of a sudden, my G Pro E988 started to shutdown while in my pocket and was not responding to power button until I've removed the battery.
In some cases I've tried to connect it to car or wall charger after the shutdown and it shows 0% battery, but after the battery re-seat, phone starts and it shows the same battery level as prior to shutdown.
Is there a way to pinpoint why this is happening, can some system logs reveal the source of the problem? If yes how can I read those logs and what should I look for? Could this mean the battery is defective? How can I know for sure before I order a replacement battery?
I've looked at the battery contacts and they are clean, also the battery it's well fitted in its place, with no room to budge.
I've tried slightly bending the phone to mimic the behavior from the pocket as I enter\exit the car, the issue cannot be reproduced.
Thanks in advance for any reply!

I have the same problem. My LG-E980 is 2.5 years old. It just started shutting down when in my pocket--have to remove the battery to re-boot, then it works fine. Battery stays charged. It will stay on if sitting flat on desk or car seat. No problem recharging. Tried wedging the battery harder into the contacts, but this did not solve the problem.
Did you replace the battery? did it work?

Fortunately mine was in an extended warranty from my vendor when I finally decided to send it back and they couldn't repair it or replace it according to their terms, so they refunded me the original price and that enabled me to get an LG G4 with a lot smaller financial effort. In my opinion the battery is defective, because it contains a chip which can get broken especially due to high battery temperature. I suggest to get a battery replacement.

HTC One M8 Battery Suddenly Dies, Randomly Shuts Off

Hello,
I bought a used T-Mobile HTC One M8 a couple of days ago off of eBay. While it's a cool phone, I've had a serious issue with the battery. When plugged in, the phone works fine. However, after being charged for several hours and removed from a power source, the battery will read 100%, slowly dying to around 96% or so with use, and then shut off randomly without warning only a few minutes after being taken off the charger. It won't give the normal "shutting down" message; instead, the battery will go from whatever percent it was to 0% and then the screen will go black.
From what I've seen online, the battery might be bad. s suggest that this problem results in an inflated battery. In this M8, I noticed that the left edge of the screen was almost separated from the metal bezel as if something was pushing it up from behind. This makes me think my battery might be bloated, causing the battery issue and pushing up the screen.
I have tried wiping the phone before flashing Lineage OS instead of the stock ROM, fully charging the battery up, and fully discharging the battery, but nothing so far has worked. Do you have any tricks I could try that might fix this if it is a software issue? Or does this seem like a bad battery that would have to be replaced?
If the battery is bad, the M8 doesn't make it easily removable, so I would either have to take the phone apart or send it in and possibly pay someone to replace it. The previous owner said it was working fine, but I have yet to hear his reply to my eBay message asking about the issue. He included all of the original packaging, including the original limited warranty. While the warranty is probably long expired and technically doesn't transfer over reselling a phone, do you think there is any chance that HTC or T-Mobile might be willing to fix the phone or send a different one?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Flash t mobile RUU (software problems will slove with this ) . If the issue still there ,then it must be a hardware issue i.e faulty battery or some other.
Sent from my XT1526 using Tapatalk
The battery in my M8 is really weak now, and as of maybe 6-9 months ago the phone is not tracking the battery level well. When the phone is idle, it powers off at 20-30% indicated charge remaining, with games active, maybe it will power off at 45%. I get 1 hour PoGo from a _full_ charge.
Previously, I've experienced the phone getting hot when charging (mainly in the car) and this has probably had a serious impact on the battery capacity. Assuming the phone you have is over a year old, you should assume the battery is badly aged by now.
my adorable M8 in his third year of use recently has the same symptoms of @tshoulihane. Is necessary to say that I've took so much care in his first 2 years like disconnecting the battery after few minutes of reaching the 100% (also voiding to charge all the night) or turning off the phone at 10% and I never be waited for the auto turn off at 0%. All this that I'm telling you is in the first 2 years. In this third year of using the m8 as my main phone, I received this bad symptoms doing the opposite of the first years of care. Now I just connect powerbank or something at 30% to void awkwards sudden death of battery. Mmm I have plans to keep 1 year more my m8 with me, it still a beast in camera, sound and no lag, so I'm looking for a battery replacement im Amazon but the reviews are bad, I think is very difficult to get a good *new* battery because that replacements get old too with the years of storage... mmm I don't know but this was my little story with my battery experience with M8. Regards guys.

It just seems to be a common hardware failure problem just like G4s you can swap the motherboards but prob eventually happen again I never suggest heating or cooling devices As freezing creates moisture corrosion and moisture indicator problems. Heating can fry stuff.

I put the phone to charge full and if i put it on the charger with 100% its fine. No reboots and wifi works... if i dont charge it, its back to the same state... is it a battery problem or the motherboard needs more voltage?

It could be. As it b3comes under load. The g3s had major battery issues and keeping up with the powerful hardware

Do I need to transplant my G3 motherboard to extract data?

My G3 (D855) is now not powering up at all. When I turn it on there is no reaction at all. I luckily have another "test" G3 and I have tested the battery on that phone. So I have 2 batteries and they are both fine. The only reaction that I am getting from my broken phone is that it does charge the battery. I only know this because I can measure the battery level in the test phone.
I need to extract some information from the phone. My test phone has no value so I thought about following some youtube videos and moving the broken phone motherboard into the test phone. Another option is to heat the motherboard in the oven.
I don't know if the problem is the motherboard or elsewhere.
Before it died completely, there were some problems. Here are the last reactions that I had from it:
The battery was at 70%. When I try to restart it after taking the battery out for 5 minutes nothing happens. Completely dead. But if I take the battery out for, say, 5 hours it displays the startup screen for about 10 seconds and then dies. Then immediately trying to restart it does not do anything. All of these tests were done with the charger connected and then with the charger disconnected. The charger made no difference, and it is a working charger.
So I would like some suggestions that might save me from changing the motherboard.

Changing your motherboard won't help because if you move the dead motherboard into your test phone, your test phone will be dead. The motherboard is your phone with a case on it. Only thing that might work is putting it in an oven.

Does that mean that even if there is a problem with the peripheral units or the power supply but the motherboard is good then the phone will always show some signs of life?
