Hi, sorry for my frankness!
I see you have a bit of confusion, twrp is used to flash roms .zip or .img files or to flash via sideload.
The fastboot roms, on the other hand, can be flashed through the appropriate .bat file that is inside the package, or through miflash if it is a stock rom.
However, I advise you to do more research before operating, because you really risk making your phone unusable if you take the wrong steps.
I recommend this guide which contains a lot of useful information:
How to flash ROM and TWRP on POCO F3 / k40 / mi11x. And an explanation. A very important guide
Mandatory instructions for beginners (and not only beginners) to install ROM and other on poco f3 Prerequisite, unlocking the bootloader For questions, if something is not clear, please write to "Conversations", I will try to correct it in a post...

here you can see that xiaomi eu fastboot but the extension file is .zip

as you can see when it extracted theres a bunch of bat file as you've said in .tgz file in miflash how is that possible? there is also platform tools for adb

@khazzey Ah now I understand what you want to do...
So, that rom you want to flash is a beta (still contains many bugs, I don't recommend it). It is true it is a zip file, but they did it only to make the file to download lighter, being a beta of android 12 it cannot be flashed via twrp because there is not yet a compatible twrp. It is a fastboot rom, and there are two bat files to flash, one to upgrade from xiaomi eu 11, the other to flash clean. There is platform tool to simplify flash.
Edit: However it cannot be flashed via miflash because that program is only for flashing stock roms.

This in the screenshot is not xiaomi eu, it is a global stock rom, you can safely use mi flash, it is safer! Or you can start the flash_all.bat file but I don't recommend it because if an error occurs, the prompt window closes immediately without showing you anything. Or you can run the same file from cmd so you can see what happens without the window closing in case of an error.
In any case, do not flash and look otherwise it blocks the bootloader.
Which rom do you have on your phone now?

In practice, miflash is used to flash only the fastboot stock roms.
What I tried to do is go from European to global and vice versa, it works, I have never tried to flash the Chinese rom, however I do not recommend it because there are no Google services. The Chinese one is meant for China so the network may not work in your country. It might work but I can't give you the certainty I never did.

Unfortunately you are not the only one who has had problems after installing android 12.
It's still too early and android 12 is still in its infancy, however I don't think the problem is due to twrp.
The crc or sparse error did it to me too miflash, sometimes it solves restart the pc, phone, change usb port, reinstall the drivers, reload the rom. Miflash is a bit pretentious ...

It must be said that twrp is also in an embryonic stage so it can create problems, unfortunately it is a new phone and the development of these things takes time by the developers, it is always a risk
I only used the one from nebrassy, and I successfully flashed xiaomi.eu, both beta and stable. For the moment I avoid flashing android 12, I don't want to risk a hardbrick.

The TGZ-format is another form of a compressed folder (just like ZIP, RAR, etc..)
You need to extract it first and use ADB.
You can only use Recovery ROMs in TWRP. (because TWRP is a Recovery Mode)

oh. I'm sorry that happened. Was it through Fastboot ? That sucks lol
Unfortunately, it's always hit n miss with these tools... I wouldn't even trust ADB/Fastboot 100%. ADB is by Google, but each phone manufacturer still cooks their own soup in how they implement it, and you won't know right off the bat.

Hi
Can anyone help with this ?
I am stuck on a Linux logo on my screen
I am unable to go into recovery or Bootloader mode
However if I Fastboot, it recognize the device
I tried flashing the recovery image and It Flashed successfully; Yet I cannot boot into Recovery
I tried Flashing the the Bootloader and the same
Funny thing is all Fastboot commands seem to work, like rebooting the Bootloader, but it goes straight to the Linux logo
see picture attached
Thank you.

I was testing volte.zip. I already tried flashing the boot file, still nothing. I tried flashing miui global fastboot with miflash still no luck. It sees the device but flashed for 5s and then said successful.
did u check "clean all" and try edl mode (just a reminder,it happened to me many times,i was impatient/panicked forgot to check "clean all")

I have never seen this linux logo before on Mi Max and I can assure you I am on top of everything happening around it...
I think you did something hmmm... excuse me but stupid... That volte.zip is for kenzo and it flashes all partitions that you are not supposed to flash with anything but hydrogen specific images... Your only option is EDL mode flashing and I am not even sure if it is going to work.
Good luck...

Install MiFlash from Xiaomi, download fastboot image and unpack it.

Boot to EDL mode with hard keys method, screen stays black, but Qualcomm QH USB device shows up in Device Manager/Ports. MiFlash fastboot image.
If you have 8 or newer Windows, you have to boot it driver signature verification disabled before MiFlash install:

What did you do to understand, maybe wrong firmware, maybe just a problem of modem partition, if you are using DualBootPatcher try with a CM based rom like primary, other possibility is to flash just NON-HLOS.bin of corrrect rom in fastboot mode, maybe wrong file in Update Firmware folder (in zip rom), go with a file explorer to /data/nvram if it`s generated for the new rom, take a backup first and delete after, reboot device (if this is the case) and check again your sim.

Thank you though, I was able to resolved it by flashing the EFS backup that I had.
Problem SOLVED !!!
Thanks again for your Help.
I got a bricking when I tried flashing MIUI EU ROM over CM on a locked bootloader. Is there a way to flash the latest firmware files without also flashing a new boot image which could brick the phone? I had to do an EDL flash using MiFlash last time, I don't want to go through the hassle again.

We would need further details on which device (region) which MIUI version (number, android, region) you were on when you attempted to install Magisk. Of course we assume here you had unlocked your bootloader first, otherwise any attempt to flash anything will result in bootloop.
Many have successfully rooted on Android 9 regardless of MIUI version.
Complication often comes with Chineses devices from what I read, Global not so much so if you are on Global device consider yourself lucky
Easiest root is probably to flash LR team TWRP If you can still access fastboot mode (voloume - + power) version 09.24 or 11.04 if you are on Android 9 or version 12.10 if you are on Android 10. Note that you probably have more chances of success being on Android 9.
And use the root feature from WITHIN that TWRP to install root on your device.
You have a complete guide of the steps to reproduce here:
Guide
I have tested on Android 9, EEA device, EEA rom MIUI 11.0.2.0 and it works without an issue if you follow the guide provided above.
If you still want to manually flash Magisk from any other recovery, make sure to use version 19.04 which seems to have the higher odds of success (update afterward from Manager).
Also as mentioned by @wang1chung do not forget to close avb 2.0.
Myself I also had RM Force encrypt option used (just in case) even if not mentionned in the thread.
But unlike what was suggested in those threads I did not wipe data.
That said since I do not want to have TWRP to stick for now, I actually want it to automatically be replaced by stock recovery all went fine for me, and Magisk is there.
And when I need TWRP for something I just flash it again and do my stuff.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
Same problem here. Luckly fastboot was still working (vol down + power after Redmi logo gets off). Then, I've downloaded stock ROM, and tryied manually execute fastboot commands, without success. Then, I've found a .bat file inside the root folder of the stock ROM .tar.gz archive, then executed the .bat file. Phone is working back. So, whats the catch about install Magisk? Any tips?

Personally I used the hassle-free method pressing the button to root directly from within the LR-TWRP (09.24, or 11.04 on Android 9 MIUI), swiped, then pressed that other provided button to close AVB 2.0, swiped and it worked on first attempt.
Of course TWRP got replaced on first reboot by system recovery, but I dont care as I do not want it to stick on my device. I just flash it again when I need it.
Magisk stayed, updated it from Manager (well manager updated first to that new ugly theme.... yurk!), then Magisk updated, no problem.
Note that I am on EU Phone running EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0. You might get a different outcome with other devices/roms.
Side note, LR-TWRP 09.24 installs Magisk 19.04 which has been reported numerous time to work on most Android 9 MIUI regional versions. LR-TWRP 11.04 howevers installs Magisk 20.0 fyi.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
regarding the thread title, i had the same problem. right when i was about to retart everything all over from 0, i was glad i was able to just go into twrp and just unroot. rebooted and it started as if nothing hsppended. now i jjust gotta find which module made me bootloop.

No OS Installed accidentally wipe system of xiaomi mi a2 lite

Hello Good day everyone, please help this idiot who just bricked his phone for no reason at all:crying:
I accidentally wipe my system or should i say im just flat out an idiot for wiping everything without any backup. i have installed twrp and i unlock the bootloader already because i wanted to install miui in my mi a2 lite phone but ended up wiping everything and now im stuck in twrp mode. i still can do fastboot and open my phone in twrp mode but thats all NO OS. How can i save my phone back to normal. please help me. THANK YOU ALL!!!
If you can get to fastboot, use the stock rom flash script. See the stock rom thread in the guides forum.
If you've got windows, miflash may be easier to use. I think it takes the same stock rom file.

Just make sure you download a fastboot rom which has all partitions.
When I wanted to remove all traces of root from my phone last week, i noticed that many of the more recent images only have /system or just a few partitions.
I ended up installing one of the earliest Pie images (V10.0.2.0.PDLMIFJ if i recall correctly) and then doing all the OTA's until I was at V11.0.9.0.QDLMIXM or something.

It happened to me like a week ago and i was able to fix it just yesterday. cuz i am new at this root stuff. But i was able to do it at th e end. You need to install stock rom, miflash. Also download flashable stock rom. Because i installed like 5 stock roms. But they were not flashable so it did not work. Extract the stock rom that you downloaded. Then open miflash. Now go into fastboot mode and plug your phone to your pc. Now locate the folder where flashable files are and then click flash. It should say Success. If not that means it did not work. But it should work so yeah. That is it.

Question [CLOSED] POCO F3 GLOBAL STUCK ON BOOT LOGO. HELP NEEDED.

Ok, so for some reason, my poco f3 global (alioth, miui 12.5.1) is stuck on boot logo (the screen that shows poco f3) after flashing a magisk patched boot image of the same firmware.
I don't have twrp, also adb command to remove magisk doesn't work. any workaround to remove magisk using a fastboot command? :/ any other way? can I install twrp at this stage without losing data?
I am genuinely sick of this device, a part from the very VERY bad quality of the hardware, NFC did not work for me even on stock bl locked firmware, a lot of issues happened when I rooted it for the first time and made me lose data. now today the device updated automatically to miui 12.5.1 and made me lose root despite having all auto update options disabled. I am genuinely considering throwing away this phone if I lose data this time. please help.
just flash a new boot image without magisk from the rom you were flashing.
next time you want magisk just boot the alpha twrp the F3 has and flash magisk as normal from there

As you wrote earlier, you had root access before MIUI update.
Once you get root, use Debloater to debloat the updater.

Maybe there's other ones, but I don't have this phone, can't tell much about it.

Alpha TWRP is simply an unofficial TWRP developed by Nebrassy. It can do most of the things. One of which, flashing magisk. So you should give it a shot.
Issue solved after flashing unmodified boot.img, thanks all.

Unfortunately it doesn't boot, I entered the fastboot command and it's just a black screen. I guess this doesn't work with MIUI 12.5.1, and that means Im stuck without root thanks to xiaomi
I also tried the adb command to remove magisk modules, didn't work, says inaccessable or not found
Cmn, stop blame Xiaomi and read and learn more before doing something that can mess up ur phone. Just a friendly advice
If u can boot to fastboot u can try to flash a stock ROM using MiFlash with "keep user data" checked....maybe u'll be lucky and ur phone will boot normally.

...But they did tho
The phone boots now, but still, I lost magisk and now I cannot install it on this update.
The phone also can't pass safetynet for some reason, despite having stock boot.img restored and leaving no trace of magisk.
All that could've been avoided if the device just did as it was told to, not to automatically update itself.

have you managed to fix your issue? what rom version are you running, do you need stock boot.img still?

12.5.1
flashing stock boot.img of 12.5.1 (extracted using payload dumper tool) solved the issue
However, I can't root rhe phone on this update anyway, tried to boot alphatwrp and failed, Also safetynet fails

Safetynet fails because of the unlocked bootloader (most probably). Being unable to use TWRP is strange. Did u use the correct command in fastboot mode (fastboot boot xxxxx.img)? Also, what error did u get when TWRP failed to boot?

Thanks for the reply, yep unlocked bl also could be a reason, I want to think reasonably now
No error when booting twrp, just a black screen, tried to press power button or vol buttons and swipe on screen to unlock (even tho nothing appears) and its still a black screen.
Ill post on alphatwrp, maybe it doesn't support miui 12.5.1 firmware.

Strange....TWRP works fine with my xiaomi.eu weekly ROM (which is 12.5.x version), so I guess this isn't the problem. Seems ur issue is over my knowledge, so....I give up lol

Maybe due to the difference between global and eu roms
Ik you gave all you can but what would you suggest to do for my situation in order to root this phone and pass safetynet again?
have you double checked it's not a corrupt twrp img, and that you are using the '2' version of twrp? (there's two floating around) from here
Download the TWRP again.
Follow the guide with pictures: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4288121/post-85137963
Do Clean Flash custom ROMs steps up to step 13. Ignore step 8, 9 and the flash part of 12.
If this way still can't get you TWRP, then you might want to try latest MIUI by Xiaomi.eu. Read somewhere it has built in TWRP, so once flashed, you have TWRP. Verify yourself by reading in other posts though.
Remember
EEA (official) is different from Xiaomi.eu (custom ROM)

So my only way to get magisk again is flashing custom roms? it is how it is? :/

Question Poco F3 twrp problems

I unlocked phone as normal and flashed twrp to slots A and B but in twrp it shows no internal storage, I tried every solution, but nothing worked. Only thing that worked was flashing xiaomi.eu stable via fastboot. When I enter twrp with xiaomi.eu flashed all files are shown, but i can't boot back into system (after restart it comes back to twrp). I don't really know what to do I can stick to stable xiaomi.eu, but I can't update it, I can't install any other custom rom, and MiFlash as always throws errors left and right. It's my first dual slot phone, before I didn't have any problems with other Xiaomi devices. I hope someone can help, things I tried:
-wipe everything
-change file format
-relock bootloader
-reflash twrp
-flashing different twrp
Thanks in advence if someone manage to help.
EDIT
I bought USB OTG adapter and can flash from usb stick, only problem is that i can't transfer files from PC to phone while in twrp.

You relock the bootloader, with Xiaomi.eu ??
Are you able to get to TWRP?
If you are not able to use TWRP, find Xiaomi repair center to revive your device.

So it is twrp fault? And if it is will it maybe work in future?
Then MiFlash is your hope.
Use the 20210226 version.
Do not lock bootloader in MiFlash.
Post screenshots what error it's showing to you, so people know what it means.

You said your phone works if flashing xiaomi.eu stable via fastboot.
Maybe try Xiaomi.eu again, at least getting a working phone.
Then use the built-in updater to update. Hope this work.

I guess that's my only option but it's not ideal and I can only flash the one stable version that is avaible via fastboot. Thanks for trying to help if latest official won't work with MiFlash im gonna use xiaomi.eu. Maybe in the future twrp update will solve that issue.

Try the built-in updater to update.
I read somewhere here saying you can flash update zip through built-in updater. (Tap the MIUI 12 icon a few times)
Read from Xiaomi.eu tutorial to update:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...all-xiaomi-eu-rom-for-xiaomi-redmi-k40.60379/
If following their tutorial but you still cannot update, you can ask them how to, or read some replies there to see if there's similar cases.

The tutorial is how to update in case rom is fastboot variant since twrp is avaible xiaomi.eu roms are twrp only. It's working fine I will wait for new twrp version and then try.
Worst thing is that I can't go back to stock rom.
I went through something like this as well.
As long as you can boot into fastboot. Then no worries. Just Flash the official stockrom. If something goes wrong. Reboot into fastboot (everytime you do something through fastboot. If you keep doing multiple processes, you'll keep having errors, always. Well that's what I went through. Rebooting into fastboot fixed my problem)
But your last pic declares that it was successfully flashed though.

When u flash xiaomi.eu, u set up the pin/pattern code in order to decrypt the internal storage in twrp?
Idk what's happening there.
It's just, flash xiaomi.eu via fastboot, boot it and set up pin/pattern code, fastboot boot twrp.img, go to twrp, insert the pin or pattern to decrypt internal storage and flash the latest update from xiaomi eu, simple as that..
And I don't get what's the A or B slot thing, I didn't had to chose or touch any of that, I saw that thing in twrp but didn't touched it..
