Accessories Cases that hide the camera bump - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Little disappointed to see that the official case doesn't smooth out the camera bump (though not really surprised considering it is their design choice after all). But I imagine this will be a popular request, so figured I'd get the ball rolling with a thread. Post your finds!

You can't "smooth" it out without increasing the overall bulk of a case.
What's the point?
At the same time the cam needs at least a slightly raised guard for proper protection.
I blew off the N20U because of this in favor of another N10+, to avoid Android 11 and other known issues.

I've been looking since I ordered. The Spigen Tough Armor comes the closest I've seen, so far, to having a flat back.

Good find, looks pretty close if you go on their main website (extra picture that Amazon doesnt have): https://www.spigen.com/collections/...6-pro-case-tough-armor?variant=40023033937967
Much more expensive, but you get a 30W charger for free until Oct 31. Not really a deal since Amazon is ~$20 less, but almost break-even with the charger.

Many reasons. For example. laying the device flat is important for some existing wireless charging mats. And if you own a Tesla that has something like that built in, it's not as easy as just getting a new one (might not be an issue with that specific example but we wont know until we get it).

I decided to order this one. I like the look of the gunmetal. It won't arrive until after my phone though.

Yeah that case looks the best.

Found a YouTube review of those Spigen cases. Looks like it is indeed 100% flat, the camera cutout actually ends up being slightly concave:

And their website is a hoot, too! They're very convincing with their light-hearted commentary on their products. Tempting; we'll see, I usually go with Otterbox Defender. Thanks!
In the meantime, I ordered two, one for myself and one for my wife, for now (able to return until 1/31/2021):
Myself - Spigen Tough Armor Designed for Google Pixel 6 Pro Case (2021) - Gunmetal
Wife - Spigen Slim Armor CS Designed for Google Pixel 6 Pro Case (2021) - Rose Gold
Also 2x Magglass Tempered Glass Designed for Google Pixel 6 Pro Screen Protector (2021) UHD Full Coverage Display Guard (Case Compatible)
We've both had Otterbox Defender on our phones starting with the Pixel 1 / Pixel XL 1, so I also signed up to be notified when each of these are in stock (I assume they're gauging how much interest there is): Otterbox Pixel 6 Pro Defender / Defender Pro
I'd probably buy the blue Defender, not the Pro, although I'd likely wait until I can get it on sale.

They have a good impact protection rating. Same composite design as the Zizo Bolt case with the polycarbonate retaining shell. This design can usually take a wicked multiple impact 2-4 foot drop onto concrete with zero damage and not coming apart.

I've been looking for something similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro's rubbery clear case, but haven't found anything like it yet (new search). Anyone see anything like it?

I see someone else already mentioned the dbrand grip case, which I'll second. I don't have mine yet, but in my research it seems to be the best option if you want to fully eliminate the hump. But I do want to point out that there are a few other "special edition" options you can get that aren't directly accessible from the main https://dbrand.com/shop/grip/google-pixel-6-pro-cases link. You have to go to the separate section of the website to get them.
If you're really looking to hide the bump, I think the teardown one does a really good job.

I got this Binceen case and it pretty much is flush with the camera bump. Maybe a tiny bit shorter.

DBrands ICON w/ MKBHD is completely flat.

Any case that even outs the bump will result in an extremely beefy thickness - unless your hands are huge, you will feel the difference, it will feel quite odd, and it will make handling the phone one handed much more difficult.

Inverse is true actually. The darned thing is so narrow and thin that its hard to hold without widening and thickening it up.

This case does very much hide the bump. However I do not believe it allows wireless charging and it makes the phone a brick. I use it because I need the protection at work, and by keeping it face down in the holster I don't need a screen protector (I remove the included one).

According to the reviews, the integrated screen protector renders the FP scanner unusable. Should be kept in mind if anyone is interested in that.

Hard Cases?

Ok i looked through the lets talk cases thread. Mostly everything seems to be your normal flip cover case that offers minimal corner protection when dropping. Has anyone found any good shell cases with a flip over screen protector? It would feel nice to just hold a case that offers great drop protection and screen protection withput the added bulk. When i take my note out my roocase i dont wanna put it back in. It becomes much lighter and easier to deal with.

With the total lack of hard cases out there I will be purchasing one of these since I use my tablet for work all day. Was hoping Otterbox was going to come out with one, anyone know why they aren't?
I was honestly hoping that Otterbox would come out with one too... They have one for the old Note 10.1, so you think that they would produce something for the new one. Oh well. And I agree, the lack of hard cases is somewhat disappointing. I have been searching for one ever since I got my Note 10.1 in October. Even doing an Amazon search three months later, it still yields some very poor results. The Trident case looks really nice though, I may have to purchase one of those. So thank you for posting that.

I contacted Gumdrop and was told that they had no plans to make a case for this tablet. I have one of Gumdrops cases for my Nexus 7 2013 and its a nice product. I think I'll order the Trident case since there doesn't seem to be any other heavy duty case on the market at this time. I need the protection on the jobsite.

Trident Case came in today. Much nicer than I thought it would be. I will upload some pics later.
Does the Trident case protect the screen?
here are some pics of the trident case. The installation of this case on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the hardest was a 8 to me. I had dissemble and reassemble it several times to finally get everything to fit together properly. The silicone covering just did not want to stay in its place. I almost wanted to add some lubrication of some type to the silicone, but the mess after that would have been crazy. I rarely use built in screen protectors but decided to leave this one in place. I want a tempered glass protector but have not found one I like yet. I removed the screen protector from my note 3 zerolemon as soon as I unboxed it. The screen protector with this trident attracts fingerprints like crazy. I had to continuously wipe the fingerprints off during assembly. Very annoying. After getting everything together this case looks alot better than I imagined it would. This case is exactly what I was looking for. I use my tablet for work. I use the tablet so customers can sign invoices. I then am able to email signed documents immediately for invoicing or approval. Another benefit to this case is the sound channeling ports. These ports direct sound to the front of the tablet. Music sounds better and louder. Next during work will be the real test.

Review: Poetic Slim Palette

Lately I've grown quite fond of hardshell cases for my Nexus 5 as they keep the slimness and aesthetic of the phone. I've already tried the Nillkin Frosted Sheild (gibsonflyingv posted a great review here) and the Ringke Slim, and while they're both decent, I thought I could do better and felt like the Poetic Slim Palette might fit the bill. Does it? Read on!

Right away, I'll tell you that I really, really like this case. It's just as thin as some other slim cases (if not thinner), but it's the finish that's the real takeaway here. The Slim Palette is what has been referred to as a "sandpaper" case in that it feels like a low-grit sandpaper, but to me, it feels more like a really rough cotton. The feel is a little jarring at first, but after you get used to it, it's brilliant. It provides excellent grip without the rubbery feel of the Nillkin case or the "stickiness" of a TPU case. And whereas other cases claim to be (and are often not), it's also 100% anti-fingerprint. I've been handling it like a lover, and it still looks like I've never touched it. I love the finish of it.
The fit is also another bright spot. As I mentioned, it's just as slim as competing cases, if not slimmer. It's so slim in fact that I wasn't sure the camera lens on the back was going to be protected (it is). It has a lay-on-the-table design and it hugs the phone well and doesn't feel loose anywhere. The corners are nicely rounded and avoid the sharp edges that are common on many other cases. In short, it's a perfect fit.
Another nice thing about the case is how it wraps up and around the back and around the corners. Other hardshell cases offer minimal protection, and while this case isn't going to save your phone from a massive fall, the protection it does offer, at least comparing to the Nillkin, is a bit more stout and should be sufficient from an accidental drop off a desk or similar. It's also much, much easier to remove than other hardshell cases. If I have to watch a tutorial on how to remove your case, then you've failed in the engineering department. This case snaps on and off easily while still staying extremely snug.
Overall, this is easily my favorite hardshell case thus far. It offers excellent fit and finish, and for only $5 on Amazon, the value can't be overstated. It's easily better than the Ringke and offers the slimness of the Nillkin with better protection. I can't recommend this case enough to any Nexus 5 owner who wants a minimal case with better protection than most hardhsell cases offer.
How sad, this case is $20 in Canada. I'll debate about it though, since this sandpaper like texture is intriguing!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I have this case in blue and agree that the feel is wonderful. I bought it so I'd have 'something' while I waited for the limefuel battery case to arrive - and the limefuel would benefit from the textured surface and from the slightly taller 'lip' over the screen that the Poetic has.
I have one of the Spigen glas fronts on the phone, and that front felt recessed in the Poetic and almost flush in the limefuel. Jury's very much out on the limefuel right now, especially since I installed the Uber kernel which seems to have outstanding battery life.
I'll wait for Mr. Bacon to confirm this but I suspect this is the $1 QuickSand case people have been buying from Ebay. Ships from China for free, has extras included and has been reviewed quite favorably.
The $5 price point kind of confirms it in my mind and the Bear Motion branded ones also look the exact same.

Yeah, they look like the same $0.99 ebay ones. Even the mold line that is apparent on the right side vs left. They do have a darker blue and a yellow choice for colours, so there's that. But yeah, it appears to be the same case. Here is my comparison of the bear motion vs generic ebay. Identical everything, even choice of backgrounds haha.

Here is the mold line comparison on the right side vs my lime green case. You can see that the mold line is on the exact same spot on the right side on both cases, and not on the left side on both cases.

Why do you think this is better than the Nillkin? I have it and it's really great with its textured back. It's thin and doesn't scratch the phone. I'm just really not keen on the sand look. To my eyes it removes the sleekness of the phone, whereas the Nillkin has some character.

Honestly I like it more because the grip is better and it's easier to remove. There's also a small lip that goes over and under the top and bottom of the phone that would protect it from impact if you dropped it straight down whereas the Nillkin wouldn't since the Nillkin stops just short of the top and bottom of the phone. Granted the Nillkin looks better and I wasn't a fan of the sandpaper cases for the same reason, but unless you're looking at it up close, you really don't even notice the texture.

Not at all. I made a habit of cleaning off my phone every week without the case and I've removed it many times (without much issue I might add). There isn't a mark on it...and I have the white case.

Best cases I've found (without battery button cutouts!)

I've been on the hunt for a decent case for this phone since I got it on its release date and it's been greuling. It's almost as if this phone doesn't exist, in the Americas anyway, a lot of cases I've come across are nameless and generic, worst of all, poorly designed with a big theme being the inclusion of the battery door button cutout.
Here's a few companies and cases I've found to be actually designing a case for this phone:
VRS Design, some simple designs that work, nothing too fancy but that's just what some of us want:
https://vrsdesign.com/collections/lg-v20
Noreve, these are some impressive wallet style cases and the quality seems unprecedented, great for a gift or for those of us who want a nice leather flip case, definitely not within most budgets with certain customization options but worth keeping in mind:
http://www.noreve.com/en/1303-v20
J&D Slim Case, a simple case from Amazon for cheap, does the job but features the aforementioned battery button cutout and a less precise design than the rest on this list, I found it to be the more acceptable of the budget cases I've come across because of its simple design, small form factor, and the 4 color options:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KNQ4SH6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_ONQGybGDMFMHS
Seidio, skeptical at first but glad this is a case I bought, a random brand that popped up in my search a few times. They seem to have one of the few 2 layer cases that don't have a battery button cut out and that also doesn't add much heft to the phone, all with adding a kickstand as well. Another great thing I love about the case is that it's inner layer can function as a standalone super slim rubber case, the fit is perfect and there are no quality issues as far as the precision and design is concerned (will post pics eventually):

Incipio, a popular brand making decent cases for more than just Samsung and Apple phones? WHAT?! I was surprised to see the selection Incipio has for the V20 and they look very promising. Starting from $20 you can get a case that fits well, looks nice, is from a trustworthy brand and best of all, doesn't have a battery button cutout! I took a liking to the Dualpro, NGP, and Octane models, they seem to provide good protection without adding a ton of bulk and offer some options for color:

I hope this helps some people out there hunting for cases, I was sure in need of this research and thought I'd share.
these are some cool cases. Thanks.
I have the High Pro Shield VRS (also had it on Note 7). Fit and feel is perfect,however.... The kickstand pivot seems to be positioned a hair too low. The phone tends to wanna fall over at the slightest bump. The Note 7 didn't suffer from this (same model case). Its like the center of gravity is a lil higher, still a great case and is not a deal breaker.
Oh hey, I've wanted Incipio to make cases for this phone. It's my lucky day. Now to convince myself 19.99 is worth it...
Have you actually tried them all? If not which one did you end up going with? I may go with the Incipio for $19.99. It's definitely worth it because I don't have phone protection. You think I'd learn my lesson after dropping a Nexus 6P and cracking the screen. Nope. I'll try to be careful.
UAG
It's a bit bulky and the cam is recessed (good).
However, when you insert the case, make sure the button (left) side inserted first.

Slickwrap and under a poetic atmosphere case....I see no other case/skin setup I rather have. Feels good and I love the way it looks (get compliments all the time on it). Not the best picture (looks better in person)
Spigen Rugged Armor black is very nice, thin, fits prefectly, improves grip and audio jack cutout is large enough to use Professional Headphoes such as DT990 or HD500 and such... and it also is very very light

Exactly the problem I have with the Obliq. Nice case but the Sennheiser hd650 cable struggles to make the fit.

2nded.
My big thing has been keeping screen recessed since my Evo 4g took a 2 ft fall getting out of a car & hit perfectly on a rock to shatter the screen.
I always used OtterBox defender after that. But phones kept getting larger. When I got Note 7, tried UAG and loved it when I switched to V20 got UAG again. Much less bulk, but feels just as safe. Phone has dropped multiple times with zero issues.
I bought this one in navy for 11$ on Ebay sale. Gorgeous looks with solid quality, great feel in hand (not slippery at all), not bulky and totally protected with Spigen tgsp! #stronglyrecommend https://www.incipio.com/cases/smartphone-cases/lg-smartphone-cases/lg-v20-cases/incipio-ngp-advanced-lg-v20-case.html
How good are the Ghostek cases? They look pretty cool.

But mostly i'll be going for the UAG case. Sucks that its not available here in India. Have to wait for someone to drop by from the USA
Currently rocking this one , the only case minimal enough with a good grip and a very classy back

i found the poetic revolution to be the best case . My phone has fell so much in the street and also i accidentally threw it to a wall. LOL everything looking good so far. I have had it since november. It has flaps for dust proofing and whole for every mic and the IR . It has a screen protector that if it gets scratched or you dont like it, well, you can always remove it and use your temper glass.

How well does it slide in and out of your pocket? My biggest beef is when a case is too "rubbery" and gets hung up.
Also how is the built in screen protector? I've been thru a ton of glass protectors now, none seem to suit me.

It slides very nice in and out of pocket. Lol
The built om screen protector is quite good. I didnt remove the one that came with the and yet it adhered very well to it. Up until now it has just one small scratch on it.
Over the time, the cover start getting some external sign of use that looks like sctatch but is more caused by all the time thr phone has felt on the street and other places. Lol nevertheless it still feels as if thr cover were brand new.
The only downside is that if you put it in a diagonal surface, it will slide easily. Unless you put it upside down
Picked up the Poetic Revolution case but removed the screen protector. In hindsight, that might not have been the best idea because of the double-sided take they use on the top and bottom of the front piece that holds the protector.
Let's just say I'm almost worried about removing the front now as I can see the adhesive trying to stick to the phone. ....... (Wait, Devhux! You mean to say you didn't think of that BEFORE putting on the front piece????? Hahahahaha!)

The ones I saw on Amazon and Ebay are without the auto wake magnet function, still not found a nice flip case....
I ordered this one - https://nillkin.org/smartphones-acc...s-7-pro-accessories/nillkin-oneplus-7-pro-qin. Don't know if it has a magnet but will tell here when I receive it if someone does not beat me to it.

These look nice if a little on the expensive side.. I'd have sprung for one if there was some protection top and bottom. Still might.

In order to a do auto-wake the phone itself has to have a sensor for that magnet. The Galaxy phones have that, for example, but I didn't think the 7 pro has one. I'd love to be corrected if it does.

There are apps that will utilize the proximity sensor on your phone and turn the screen on when opening the case. I used the below app on my S8+ with my Otterbox Strada, it worked without any issues.

So I have 3 flip cases currently, ordered the 4th (the one that looks like the OEM flip case) that's going to be here next week.

You can see them all in the attached jpg.
They each have their pros and cons, none of them are ideal (the Otterbox Strada is my ideal case, a tank that's lasted my old S7e the past 3 years) and NONE ARE SMART COVERS.
The far left in navy is the one on my device right now. Like the form, the color, and corner protection. The drawback is that I question how screen protector friendly it is, as the sides actually curl in PAST the factory-applied protector film. Don't know if the case will will fit with a TGSP installed. My guess is it won't, which is why I'm using it now.
The middle one has the most coverage along the sides, but it's thin compared to the case I just discussed. From my experience with its 6T counterpart, it's relatively durable so it will likely be my go-to when I apply a TGSP. Don't like the form (full-length spine where it folds, front cover is not merged into the back case) as much as the other two.
The one on the right is the Nillkin, a brand I've used since... my Nexus 6? Love the form factor, hate the durability. Expect the case to last for about 3 months before it's starts cracking, chipping, tearing. This one lasted 3 minutes -- one corner cracked when i put the phone in. WTF.

I'd be willing to pay Otterbox more money for a OP 7 Pro Strada case. Such a great case.
Brilliant review reaper000 thanks very much.
Dammit OnePlus get on with the official flip case.
I'm waiting for the Nillkin to be delivered. Oh no! Bad luck with that. Take your advice on the durability.
I actually prefer the full spine so that middle one might suit me. Prefer the complete cover on all sides too. My OP3 somehow got scuffed top and bottom in the official case. I don't seem to need the padding. Never considered the black but that looks ok.
Oh that damn kick stand fold.. Dino why do many cases have that. Hate it. Would try and glue the thing down.
Thanks again. [emoji106][emoji106]

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Official-F...5T-6T-7/153444097176?var=&hash=item23b9fb1c98
Just received the Nilkin flip case in black.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality. Soft cloth inner. Hard plastic full protection holster for the phone. Accurate cut outs. Hard nylon backed combined fake leather back and cover that folds quite flat and out of the way.
Doesn't sleep or wake, although the proximity sensor does already deal with that so not an issue for me. No magnet at all to help the case stay closed.. this is a smart minimalist cover that sacrifices ruggedness.
9/10 from me

Accessories Cases and screen protectors reviews/feedback

Hey,
Let's sum up here the cases and screen protectors for the Google Pixel Watch you have bought with your feedback.
I found random/generic ones on Amazon but no reviews so far, as the watch isn't available yet.
I went to a local service provider who has a CNC cutter for TPU screen protectors. They checked, and already had an update for the Pixel Watch. They hadn't any inkling about the dimensions and sizes before the fact and no way of looking at the data, so they cut it for me and it turned out only to cover the flat part of the display. They applied it, and it is completely invisible unless I tilt the watch to have very bright objects reflected and look from a very low angle.
The rounded parts will need a case, I guess. The ones I saw on the internet are not in stock, and frankly look ****ty. However, with my track record of braking things, I will need one.
I'm a clumsy oaf and tend to drop things (or even hurt myself more often than not), so a case or at least a TPU would be great for mine.
Still waiting for Ringke to release their bezel and screen protectors. They're still listed as "pre-order" on their website and unavailable to order from Amazon in Europe.
Hi there,
I've received the Ringke bumper case yesterday. The screen protector is still on the way. I've also noticed that there are some new bumper cases for the Pixel Watch in AliExpress, I've ordered some to try them.
The Ringke is very glossy, it's hard plastic and feels very sturdy. It didn't add too much bulkiness to the watch and the crown is still accessible albeit a little harder to use. The button is still very much accessible.
I don't like the finish to be honest. But I'm ok with the tradeoff if it means I have a little more peace of mind when using the watch knowing how fragile it is.
Here's a picture to give you an idea :

I picked up the black/clear combo of the Ringke bumper pictured above. Since my carrier only had the stainless steel version of the Pixel Watch, I needed something to reduce light reflecting off of it under certain circumstances. (Such as peeking out from under a shirt cuff while on stage.) The black is matte and very thin. Not really sure what kind of protection it is supposed to be offering but it has to be better than nothing? The clear looks like maybe it offers more? I'll find out after my current show is done and I don't need the blackout anymore. I think I still need the protective film for the face though.

I think those are meant to protect against scratches more than anything else. Especially the film for the face. If something occurs that's enough to break anything on the watch, it's likely no form of protection would save it. But at least it's something. Just my two cents.

Same here, finally received my bumper case today (screen protector is being delivered later).
Although, I went for the black bumper (also comes with a clear one) and it looks great on the watch! It blends in really well and feels like it's actually part of the design of the watch.
Now hopefully my screen protectors (also Ringke) will show up before I have to travel in a couple of weeks.
Has anyone tried the Ringke film screen protectors?

I, too, am considering that protector. Also the Zagg one? I have the Ringke bezel thingie. I like it so far.
I saw the Zagg one for sale at the Google Store in Brooklyn yesterday but didn't see how much it was. Not sure if it's any good either.
I don't think we have a Google Store in Seattle. But I'm originally from Da Bronx!!

I'm actually just visiting, I don't live here!
Anyway, seems like the Zagg one isn't great from what I've read. I guess I'll only use the Ringke black case and no screen protector then. It sucks Google made this watch so curved.

Style is just so much more important than function (cynicism is intended). A little larger might have also enabled the use of a slightly larger, therefore, more long lasting battery.

I bought the Ringke film protector and it works perfect. No bubbles or anything. It does leave smudges though. I also have the Ringke bumper which hides the sides of the film.
