I have received new zenfone 2 and it asked for software upgrade. After that it said it is optimizing applications and eventually got into reset loop with only showing ASUS logo. I have tried to get into recovery mode pressing the power and volume up and release on vibrate... nothing happend!!!
Now it vibrates every minute or so... but it even does not turn the screen on... just vibrating every now and then...
Please, help!

Power off completely, then hold volume up and power to get to bootloader. Press volume down until you get to recovery and hit power button. It should reset and then a android appears. If it then says error hold power and press up volume. You should get to recovery menu that way.
Wipe cache...
Reboot and see what happens...

Try tapping up volume 3 times but remember to let go of power at roughly the same time or 10 seconds later the phone will power off...
It just do not enter this recovery mode... no matter what

Did anyone ever resolve this issue?
Mine is the same and won't boot up, just vibrates once and does nothing....
i resolved simply reflashing the old pre rooted firmware 2.19.40.18 and installing ota 2.19.40.20 with adb sideload after complete unroot with supersu.i forgot to uninstall xposed and this was the reason of my botloop after update to 2.19.40.20.luckily i had twrp so before reflashing i backupped all my stuff.that's it.you need to reflash droidboot, recovery, boot and system imgs from bootloader with the usually way.no other way out.hope you installed a custom recovery before loop,so you can backup

I have the same problem
---------- Post added at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:07 AM ----------
my device is in error screen, and with the dead robot.
Hi guys, please help, maybe some of you could do that for me... Problem is strange and I just did not find solution jet... So, I just can not power down my ZE551ML completly. Device is trying somehow to boot up, getting some kind of loop. First of all, phone came to me totaly dead - I have to plug it in to charger for 3-4 hours to ligh up notification led... After that it turned on normally. After first boot and setting things up, updates showed up. So I did update - for 4 times, OTA. It looks ok (now I have 2.20.40.90 clean, I mean no root or unlocked BL). But strange comes when I want to turn it off (power down) - device is shutting down, screean is going black and... bum! - the battery icon is showing up: emty for the very first few seconds, then it changeing to green (showing actually power state, I mean accu capacity), then device reboot itself and whole process starts over and over again... I can not stop it. Well, I think if the battery would be full, that could completly discharge it - couse is unstopable... I found, that when I press vol- when the battery is green, phone shuts off its screen, but after 20 seconds the process begins over again... i can boot it normally by pressing vol+ and power - it leads me to the bootloader manu, then boot normally - done. but it is very annoing... beside that phone is ok. Can someone help? BTW - I did factory reset from stock recovery, but it did not help...

I had the same problem. My solution was to unplug the usb charger. After that, the update was successfully.
on me Z007 I did a factory reset because my phone would not start and when it did it kept giving me messages about unfortunately this stopped and that stopped BBM, Zenui, google play store etc. Once i did the factory reset the phone worked again but I had no data so I thought I would just restart. Now all I get is ASUS and the spinning wheel. any suggestions??
Hello, I own model Asus Zenfone 2 laser 5.5 ( ZE550KL ) I have also same problem, phone keeps on rebooting....... Showing Asus logo and then vibrates and again start rebooting
I have installed asus firmware from SD card from recovery mode which was successfully installed .... did every thing after pressing volume and power button and even performed necessary actions by doing fastbood mode.
but phone is on same condition.... showed every where.. even service center people raised there hands
Kindly help me to recover my phone back.
Hey,
Yesterday I ran out of battery, when I got home I charged it.
After 15-20 mins or so, I tried turning it on, since then the phone is on an infinite loop.
It's displaying the lg logo, buttons are flashing and the home button changes colors.
If i unplug it from the charger it wont turn on at all.
It has cyanogen mode, not sure which version.
I've tried almost everything:
Removed the battery a million times, tried every button combination possible to enter recovery mode, connected it to my PC.
I have managed to get to the hard reset screen, pressed the power button twice to confirm, but still nothing happens and the infinite loop returns.
Any suggestions?
Thanks and sorry for my english.

Does it show charging screen or is just stuck on LG boot splash? Let it charge for a while, and then try booting without cable.

Nothing appearing over LG logo? Try booting with Power+Vol UP and release them and press Vol Down as soon as keys flash, I've managed to boot mine with broken battery that way.
Also, last resort - if you're sure your battery is 100% functioning, try entering download mode and reflashing.

Ever since I instead 7.1.2 mine shows that stupid ram dump thing , just keep holding volume down and power button it will eventually go into bootloader mode. One time for me it seemed like forever holding the buttons. I also here if you flash stock to both slots that gets rid of that ram dump message. I havn't got around to trying that yet. Don't think it's that big a deal

Hello...
Power down your device, hold power + volume down only two or three seconds. Should boot into bootloader. That's how it booted into bootloader when I was having the same issue.
Good luck...

Hey,
First times I installed Pure Nexus, i would always reboot before installing TWRP zip (I know I was dumb), ended having RAM dump all the time. Flashing both slots stock fixed it. :good:
Cheers...
I had a similar issue and it seems that when I shut the phone off I have to wait a bit over 60 seconds after screen turns off before pressing power+vol down. I'm other words, if I shut phone off and it takes more than 3-4 seconds of holding power+vol down and it doesn't vibrate to indicate power on, I simply wait another 30 sec and try again and it works right away. Otherwise if I keep holding it does the same dump it does for you.
I'm using pure nexus rom for a while now and didn't give any kind of problem. Was casually using whatsapp on phone and battery was around 50%, phone suddenly started to vibrate. It vibrated for around 10 secs and it finally got shutdown. Now, It doesn't power on. I can enter into bootloader by holding vol down + power button for several seconds (than what it usually takes), but after entering bootloader, it doesn't go into recovery or start the phone. restart bootloader function is restarting bootloader normally but boot into recovery and power on doesn't work. Google logo appears for few seconds and again powers down. Please help! Thanks in advance!!

Fastboot and flash it? It's encrypted. I don't wanna loose my data. But will consider if nothing else works.
i have same shi* trying to flash recovery via fastboot and see if it loads....
@cbhhargava: if fastboot connects, you can erase both of the caches and fladh PureNexus.zip. Without erasing /data. Fastboot-syntax.
didn't work... tryinf to flash stock image via fastboot...
didn't helped either... used Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock image - still no change. blackscreen after Google boot screen, i'm starting to think it's hard bricked either soft bricked....
then there's the oven-procedure (it's described here often): if it boots after heating, you can save your data and let replace mainboard.
Same issue

Found this post. Seems like it's a dead end to me. Phone is out of warranty and what ever ROM I flash by fastboot doesn't boot
Hi, my Mi5S has a problem described in thread name. It has stock rom, wasnt rooted or unlocked (bootloader). When I plug it in power or it has some battery juice it continuously reboots and boots into these modes for a few seconds and again. I could get into recovery menu also but after a second it rebooted once again. Is there any chance to save it please? Thanks for answer.
Okay, it was power button being stuck, its working now.
