I bought this phone 2 days ago and noticed black crush issue. Please try and fix it. I can't see anything with dark backgrounds and the pixels become so weird. Please do something about it.
Have you updated to MIUI 12.5.6?
Mine got fixed after update (but only when Auto Brightness and 90hz disabled)

Mine goes really green (greys) at low brightness.
@mattabyte can you please check this too? Check it in a very dark room/night at low brightness (not the lowest). And please report here.

one plus providing fix for this on next ota plus ram fix tooo so wait
Yes, I get this. I also get purple trails.
This can't be fixed, I don't think, unless they raise the lowest brightness. From my searching it looks like an issue with quite a few older AMOLED phones.
Well, greys would become pink on my Nexus 6P as well. But for it it turned green which looked really weird. I sent in for a replacement.
I have a slight purple tint to some grays on low brightness, yes.
I also have blue/purple trails when dragging black items over a dark background on the screen, visible on all brightnesses but much more so on low.
Yellowish screen
I also have a little issue with my screen. My screen gets yellowish on the left when the background is grey, this don't happens when another color is shown...
Is this a software issue and can it be fixed or do I need to return the phone?

I made a video showing this issue.... That clearly appears on grey backgrounds.
Do you guys think that the upcoming update could also fix this issue ?
I also have yellowish tint on the right side of my screen

Yes, display uniformity problems are unfortunately very common on the OP3, as also a thread in Oneplus' own forum shows (with a poll). You have to return the device for a replacement as often as you need to finally have a device with even screen.
Black transparent frames around the display. Do you have them too? It depends on the colors on the screen. If you have a bright wallpaper, you will not see them. I don't know if this is a display defect or firmware bug.
Miui Global Stable 10.2.1.0
Update
Looks like display burn-in
I have the exact same issue

How is that like a burn-in? I see nothing like a burn in here. It looks like lcd backlight bleeding around edges. Hardware issue.
Sad story guys. Someone in miui forum says that he fix this problem with kernel adiutor, but how? For me, this is a small problem, because the appearance of a black bar around the display depends on the background. If the colors are bright, the strip is not very visible. But I still would like to know how to fix it.
That's the screen retention problem, use some custom kernel with KCAL support, set RGB values to 210/215 and you're ready to go.

Thats not screen retention. Do you see any artifacts or shadows of previous display? No, he has a black bar around screen edges, so unless he was looking at a picture of black bar around the edges at full brightness for a day, its not a burn-in and its not image retention. Its backlight bleeding, bad quality display.

I do have the same problem with you, where the display has darker frame around it. but it's disappeared one day. then I begin to play a game and sometimes I fell asleep while playing it, and yes I got some kind of retention of game's UI around the screen. the UI can clearly be seen when I am opening incognito window in chrome.
but recently I flashed a custom ROM, and guess what? the retention is disappeared.
so is this really hardware issue? can't be software issue right?
why don't you try flashing custom ROM

After the 12.5 (Indian) update, I'm starting to notice that the colours of the display has gone weird. It doesn't look like an amoled anymore. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Also the display is perfectly fine in lock screen. The colours go weird after I unlock the phone.
While trying the latest miui build I noticed that blacks don't really turn the pixels off like an amoled should. You can notice this for example in the camera app at the top and bottom bars that should be black but in reality are slightly red, only noticable in a dim room or if you crank the brightness. I think this is their way of "fixing" gradient issues on this phone and it indeed is less present but at what cost?

Ah so it is indeed because of their gradient issue. I hope they completely fix this one day.
So ya the crapy black crush issue was bugging me so i was trying 3 4 things and found that
the following things help fix black crush amost next to nothing
PS: I am on july update of pixel OS 12.1
1.change color to original from vivid android settings -> colors
2. turn off night light
3. download "screen balance" app from app store and then in the app give it all the permission it needs and then in the screen balance app increase the daylight option to flouroscent and then turn on the screen balance service using the right toggle
The screen balance app helped a lot you can find more details in the below link
Quick fix for black crush issue if updates didn't work for you

Oh gosh doing this you will kill color accuracy. This phone has no black crush issue at all. It can show black level of 1 in any mode already
