(GUIDE)How to get more storage to install apps/games for galaxy y duos and galaxy y - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Hello my friends. I was in DZB'S Blog and i found a way to have more storage without link2sd plus or link2sd at all!
Things you need:
Root explorer.
SDcard.
Kernel that supports EXT2, EXT3 Partitions.
This is what link2sd does to link apps to the EXT2 partition but this is better.
Things that i recommend:
I Recomend a sdcard with at least 4Gb or 8GB Of storage.
I used a 32GB Class 4 sdcard and it is verry fast to load app.
Steps:
Create a EXT2 Or EXT3 Second partition using CWM Or a PC Running a disk manager program. (backup your data before creating the second partition)
Go to /data and find folders /data/dalvikcache and data/app and /data/data.
Now copy those folders /data/app /data/dalvikcache and /data/data to /sdext partition.
Now select folders one by one in sdext and select option link this to the /data, if it ask to replace the folder, replace it.
Now repeat the 4º step to the rest of the folders.
Reboot the phone
in the end you should have a storage information like this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
All credits go to the DZB Team for this amazing guide.

[Resolved] Question about CM7 R2 and cache size

I just flashed the CM7 hboot using android flasher tool.
Here's a screenshot (regarding which my question is actually based) of "Quick System Info"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Per the alpharev website, the readings should be as follows:
/system - 145M
/cache - 5M
/data - 287M
Now, in the screenshot I posted, internal storage (288M) and system storage (145M) seem all right, but why do I have such high "system cache"?? :-o
Also, shouldn't I have the full 287 MB (more or less) internal storage available considering I have only one app installed - Quick System Info, to post the information that is. Is the 40 odd MB accounting to "dalvik cache", perchance?
P.S New to flashing hboots, hence the doubt.
Since no one replied to this, here's the fix I got over at another forum.
Quick System Info is basically showing wrong info wrt to the cache partition.
Better way to check would be using another app Freespace or querying the file systems directly.
Here're the respective screenshots:
Freespace:
Using Adb or Terminal:
Cheers!
Cyanogenmod uses the sd card as system cache. The dalvik cache is in general stored in /data, unless one moves it to sd.

MiniTool Partion Wizard not resizing

I'm trying to use Link2SD to store apps on my SD card but whenever I use MiniTool Partion Reader to re-size it says "operation fail" and gives an error. Actually on my desktop it doesn't even detect disk 2 (the SD) at all. What's the problem? See I have my phone plugged in but no second drive (I have a dual boot on 1 hard drive)

EasUS partion doesn't work neither
u can try partioning in CWM also . for desktop i use Easeus Partition Manager without any problems. if the sd card dont detect through phone via cable try using a sd card reader.
Thanks
Use card reader, dont use cable data.
Close another application in your computer except Minitool. Partition your sdcard and apply. I did it without any problem.

I used minitool partition wizard to resize sd card partition and no any problems. as other guys said, maybe you need close other software except minitool, then resize it again.

Can't Install Any Application

This is my screenshot :

I use Int2Ext+ script, display on my internal storage is 2 GB but if i installed apps more than 200 mb i can't install any apps.

you have to tell your phone to move the files to the ext partition
i see you have a rom installed, if you have a superuser app installed (if you dont, download one from play store, i recommend super su) download the link2sd app, choose the apps you want to move (all the ones you wont mind if they go a little slower...) and select create link, that should fix it.
You use Link2Sd or A2SDGUİ .
my guess is that a2sd isn't installed correctly in your case or maybe your ext partition isn't big enough
if you are using cm9 or 10 or aokp michie(hope i spelled that right) made a a2sd cwm flashable zip and some other:swap, softkeys
those will work 100%

[Q] What is the /cache partition for and info about all partitions

Today I have downloaded DiskInfo app and it says Note 2 has 1.3Gb of cache partition, 2Gb of /System 10.5Gb of /Data partition.. When added together it is 13.8 Gb.. However 16Gb claimed memory is 14.9 Gb normally. So 1 Gb is missing.
Does anyone know what is the proper partitioning/foldering/indexing (whatever it is called in Linux world) of and average (or say Note 2) Android phone and what they stand for? So far I know
/system is for installing the ROM itself, it is read only and 2Gb allocated for Note 2
/data (including /data/media which is for user objects like mp3s or videos or anything) is for the user and the apps to be installed.. Usually the rest of the memory after taking necessary other parts, is used as /data
/preload I don't know if this is seperate partition or just a sub-folder of some other partition. But it contains the videos and pics of Sammy ROMs. No idea about the size..
/cache? It is 1.3gb..But why?
I got this from sdmaid app. This may help you. :what:

You can find some answers on this page.
The size of /cache partition should depend on the number of apps / files you have/use.

I've got TWRP backups but can't find them!

So, I've got 64gb as internal storage. I have TWRP backups but I can't seem to (easily) locate them - was never a thing before.
My TWRP folder is empty. If I boot to TWRP, I see it has them, on the 64gb card. I'm a bit rusty, could any one remind me where they are if I'm looking via a file manager booted in Android.
I need to backup my backups to PC, etc.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
In Root Explorer I navigate to Storage, and then my external SD card (it is not named external SD, but rather 7DD8-F219. Yours should be named differently). Once there, I scroll down to my TWRP folder, then the backup folder inside it).
