M2 10 Open Sourcecode (M2 A01L)

Hi guys,
Since today Huawei delivers the open sourcecode for the drivers, I guess.
Anyone in here capable to create a nice clean AOSP ROM or anything else good for our tablet?

Hi! Thank you, i'll do an AOSP for our poor tablet, the only problem in my case, I'm unable to unlock the bootloader because i haven't in dev options "OEM unlock". If I'll pass this issue, I'll immediately start to develop the ROM.

Yeah it's a pain to unlock the bootloader. But since I need to install Google Workspace device policy I have no other option

@Crypto18 - There is a possibilty to unlock the bootloader by using dc-unlocker - amount about 4 Euro. I had success in doing so a year ago. It would be very nice to get an AOSP-ROM für the tablet.

I think, I unlocked it with dc-unlocker, too, four years ago or so.
I would be happy to have any clean/empty/fresh AOSP ROM for this tablet, as up to today it is still fast and really usable.
If you need any help, I would also be eager to learn how to do it (building a ROM). @Crypto18

I did the DC-unlocker thing today as described in the sticky, so it still works. Somebody in this thread mentioned that it worked for him without the OEM unlock option (it disappeared in EMUI 4), but to be on the safe side I had done a downgrade to EMUI 3 before (the oldest one I found didn't have a working dialer, I didn't try the landscape calculator trick to activate the manufacturere mode, but updated to a later EMUI 3 version that had a a working dialer: "Huawei MediaPad M2-801L Android 5.1.1 EMUI 3.1 B007.zip").
I am now looking for a working TWRP (see my post in the sticky thread a few minutes ago).
If you manage to unlock your bootloader, I would be willing to go the "build your own version from scratch" way with you. I have experience as embedded Linux developer one decade ago, but never did it for Android. Would be more fun to have a second person interested in this "classic" tablet.

@coocooc - Please search for "TWRP-3.1.0-recovery-MediaPadM2-10.0-LISZT-A01L-A01W.img" in TWRP. That's the TWRP you're looking for.

Crypto18 so far did not come back, and I didn't start the journey yet.
I am on the way to prepare a Linux laptop for building Android and SBC stuff, but family life does not allow to spend many hours on my pet projects.
I wrote a mail to Huawei to get the latest sources (EMUI 4), but the first level support shown on their GPL site couldn't fulfill the wish. They gave me a developer address to apply to; let's see how this ends.

Thanks for the hint! I will try this TWRP version tonight. Which EMUI version are you using with this TWRP (EMUI 3 or 4)? Is there something to check in the flash layout first, to succeed with this TWRP?

@coocooc - I'm using a Huawei Mediapad M2 10.W with Emui 3.1., Android 5.1.1.
If you're on Mediapad 801L, the above mentioned TWRP will not work for you!

I am using “TWRP-3.1.0-recovery-MediaPadM2-10.0-LISZT-A01L-A01W.img“ om my M2-A01W and it working without any problems.

Funny, the name of the TWRP file suggests that it is valid for both the L and the W versions of the M2-A01.
What is exactly the problem with this file?
I unlocked both the phone und FRP on my device before installing this file.
I am on EMUI 3.1. and Android 5.1.1.

LineageOS builds

It looks like official LineageOS images are beginning to roll out for Find7.
It's all very exciting, but with the early state of the LineageOS project there isn't much information around - searches here were fruitless and the official wiki is just a template.
Has tried the build yet? Any clues about LVM support?

I end up with a bricked phone. Initially LineageOS showed sdcard0 as corrupted. Then after few reboots was about 90Mb and every app complained. I booted to TWRP and tried to install it again but SDCard ( external ) is not possible to mount. I tried to fastboot load old twrp but I end up with Partition not found error. So I assume LVM is not working and installing LineageOS is risky.
Autofixing partitioning tools failing too now. So Looking for new phone.

Install LineageOS ROM's (or any CM based ROM) under LVM is not risky: It's completely useless. Neither LineageOS nor CM support LVM, and possibly never support it, so if you want to install this ROM first you have to unLVM your phone.

Yes, I suspected as much. Any reports of success on a stock-partitioned phone?

I was just thinking. How dificult it is to add LVM support to Lineageos ? they sources are on github so question is how LVM integration works. Maybe it is possible to create a patch for existing roms.? Is it ?

Issues found on Day 2.
Experienced FC event for Whatsapp popup message when device is on lockscreen.
One occurrence of map not fully drawn on waze.

After installing 4th Apr nighties, my jabra can’t get connected and audio goes to earphone and not Bluetooth audio device.

Upgrade from official Lineage OS 14.1 possible but as usual clean install is better. Good time to wipe that phone clean.
Please update TWRP to the latest. If you have this device and don't know how to install please follow above procedure.
If you have device encryption enabled, consider removing as its a bit touch and go. As usual always have a full backup and separate copy of your data/pictures.
And the caveat you are responsible for what you do with your device applies and no one else is responsible for your action. People may be able to help if you ask kindly.

Is anybody working on the included Kernel?
The background of my question is that I am experiencing spontaneous reboots when physically leaving a Wi-Fi connection, particularly my home Wi-Fi.
This defect was present in LineageOS 14.1 as well. There I could solve the problem completely by installing the latest Franco Kernel. However, in LineageOS 15.1 the Franco Kernel leads to very frequent soft reboots, like 5 in one hour, so I am now back on the stock kernel.
The only workaround I know is to disable Wi-Fi before leaving a Wi-Fi area, then re-enabling it.
Before other users jump in and state that they don't have this defect, not everybody has it. It is not clear under which conditions the defect shows up. It may depend on certain apps being present. But obviously it is not the apps' fault, as the fact proves that the Franco Kernel resolved it in LineageOS 14.1. Not to mention that no app has the right to reboot the system.

No sir....actually im nt frequent user of xda forums these days

NetGuard via VPN is not working for me. Under 14.1 was everything ok.

Hardware buttons backlighting is very dim for me even when set up to 100% brightness.

Is there more ROMs?

I recently purchased an tab S4 just an update from my previous Samsung tablet. I was wondering is there more ROMs for this tablet or ROMs currently in development? I noticed theres like 2 ROMs for this tablet. I have a note 8 and I'm currently running deluxerom on and it, and I really enjoy the tweaks and customization I'm able to do. I was looking for a same kind of feature for my tablet. Would greatly appreciate the answers I'm looking for. Thanks!

Pretty much zero support. You can get a few 9.0 GSI ROMs to boot, but they all have issues. Mine has been sitting around since it was purchased while still using my old 2014 model.

Aww no way!? Really? I excitingly got this tablet cause of the features and thought perhaps there would be amazing ROMs for this particular tablet, but I guess not xD What are GSI ROMs? Also as a desperate attempt would other tablet ROMs work on this s4? Thanks mate!

I had thought the same thing, but it seems the S3 is the last tablet to get real support.

Hey Veekay I tried it and you're right unfortunately I came across the same issue as you brother
Now I'm stuck and I need help sorting my device out, was wondering if you knew this issue or could help?
When I got the stock firmware back and then when I flash TWRP with odin after going into TWRP I get 0mb as internal
so when I format and then go back into my load up the screen after SAMSUNG says "verification failed" and then reset
on the bottom. I tried other options as well. Without even wiping on TWRP the devices boots up into the setup wizard for the firmware fine
but after I wipe TWRP so I can get access to my internal drive my samsung boots into that verification reset screen. Got any clue as to how I can
resolve this issue? Thanks a bunch!

Yup, its unfortunate that there isn't much community support for this device. The Tab S4 is Project Treble supported and a few GSI ROMS do work. But as others have said they are unstable and not for use as a daily driver. We have a few discussion threads here talking about them.

Would that work? If I did that I would still be able to download and install TWRP and have a root? Because of it being PIE

I am going to do more research on these projects because I really wish there was more ROMs its quite an amazing tablet but the potential with the stock ROM lacks a lot

and remember ! Some GSIs roms maybe are not compatible with some devices! you can ask for your device on each thread

Can I do this without stock ROM and only TWRP? Because having the stock ROM is disabling my twrp to function without wiping and if I wipe than my stock ROM doesn't work

Sorry,but I don't understand what do you mean " without stock rom and only twrp"...
you can install a Gsi rom, with two ways

You are going to have to just wipe it and start over from square one, unless you made a TWRP backup before starting all of this.
Download and flash the latest stock rom from recovery and then you can load twrp again.

I was looking at the possibility of using GSI's on some devices, and while they can offer new life to older devices, they're not entirely stable all the time unless you're willing to make your own changes. I know Lineage has made some excellent progress, but it's not fullproof yet and I wouldn't try it unless you're willing to not use your device as a daily use device.
I had an extra T-Mobile Revvlry which is basically a rebranded Moto g7 Play that I installed the Lineage GSI image and it works fairly well. However, this is more the exception to the rule and Moto devices, I feel, are far simpler in design vs certain Samsung devices. It also had a ton of trial and error involved for me to get it up and running properly.

Is it possible as the s4 becomes older, more people buy it and Samsung stops releasing official updates that someone will come along and create a ROM for it? Or is it more like Samsung locked the bootloaders and its close to impossible to write a ROM for it? Is it still possible to root the s4?

Thanks. I took a quick peak at the roms and kernels in the roms and kernels forum and they are pretty much all abandoned.
Someone did mention that the LOS 16.0 and ArrowOS GSI's work alright but are a bit buggy.

samsung,maybe at the end of july to give the upgrade to android 10....it is very likely to happen I think
yes,all Gsi Roms still have various problems unfortunately...
my opinion is: stay to stock rom for now....you can "uninstall" many applications if you want & without root, via "samsung package disabler"(paid) from playstore, or with this way:

Question WHY IS THERE NO DEVELOPMENT FOR CAPRI?

I have always been a lover of putting roms on mobiles, but when Motorola has already confirmed that Capri will stay at 11, it is a pity that there is no developer that develops a customization with 12 or 13 android... although they would have to build it first TWRP..... is anyone up???

I have been thinking of building it myself. Will try to setup my system for it and expect a lot of issues going through build process

Hey there, me, @thebestofall007, and some others are working on building LineageOS for borneo, which has most of the same internals as capri. Maybe we could collaborate?

Hi @Fazwalrus @thebestofall007 I tried building it but had few issues with my laptop always restarting when it comes to 98% of building. I felt it was something to do with my ssd failing as I had only the required amount of disk to build and may be a bad ic or something. I bought one more hdd now. Can start building on it. Let me know when you are about to start.

I've tried building a few times but I run into errors. Try running memtest86 on your ram to see if any of it is bad. That could be why it's restarting.

We already have TWRP for borneo. We're talking about LineageOS development

Hi All, Here is the first build of TWRP I did. This is a port and not developed from source. But that shouldn't matter as of now. Will also try to build it from source and see if it can go into official twrp. No guarantee on making it official...
