Hi all,
I found that VMOS also works on GSI Roms [A10] , [A11], maybe it will be interesting for someone...
VMOS is an APP software based on Virtual Machine (VM). VMOS can be installed in the form of a normal APP to Linux or Android system through VM technology. That is to run another complete Android system through an application Moreover, VMOS is not controlled by the host system. (Android on the phone).
VMOS Features:
- Create a Fake Phone Environment: Use VMOS to create a full virtual Android environment with a working Play store and network connectivity. This virtual Android machine will run Android 7.1 and appears as a native OS with full touch control just like you would use on your primary Android system. The Android VM is complete with an app drawer, Google services, and some standard apps like a file manager and internet browser. You can sign in with your gmail account and access the full Play store and download new apps as well.
- Root Support: The virtual machine that you create in VMOS can be rooted without affecting the primary system. This is a good solution for anyone looking to run root apps but don’t have the ability to root their actual phone. This is also an essential feature for developers testing apps. Root access is often required for specific functions of different applications. Now developers can run them without risking corrupting the primary system.
- Multiple Accounts and Apps: With the ability to run two Android systems on one phone, you can use the virtual space to run duplicated apps with different accounts. The VM is a good way to keep your personal apps and accounts separate from your work. Sign in with your personal email, snapchat, twitter ect. on your main system, then put all of your work related accounts on the VM. You can run VMOS in a floating window, making it easy to switch between systems quickly, giving you faster access to duplicated apps.

I accidently updated my phone and now it's running Android 12.
Anyone know if a workaround to get vmos running on A12?

Now with data spoofing.
Spoofed permissions:
READ_PHONE_STATE - You can now make your device return spoofed data from the methods protected with READ_PHONE_STATE permission. There is a demo app

you can use to see the effect of spoofing and revoking READ_PHONE_STATE permission. Run the app revoke or spoof run the app again.
Since majority of time spend on READ_PHONE_STATE spoofing was about laying the needed infrastructure for spoofing in general, expect new spoofed permissions shortly.
ROM info:
This is a preview build bases on CM7 nightly builds. Some things may not work some features may be missing.
Some applications may not work properly with revoked permissions.
You can revoke permission of SYSTEM applications!!! DON'T DO IT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.. However reboot resets the permissions of the system applications so you probably can recover.
If an application is running changing some permissions like say INTERNET will not be fully applied until the application is restarted.
If you come from CM7 nightly or CM7 RCx you probably don't need to wipe. I something is not working do a wipe.
Google apps are not included. You need to download them separately and flash them right after the ROM.
It will probably require ClockworkMod 3.x to flash properly.
You uses it at your own risk and I cannot be held responsible for the consequences.
Some technical stuff:
If an application checks for its permissions it will appear that all required permissions are granted. This is done to keep some ad networks code happy. As far as I've tested this is safe since the permission check is done at the remote end of the call when protected method is invoked. Please report your findings.

tried this and it's smooth enough to be used daily
gonna give it more time
new build with data spoofing see the first post.
Is it possible to integrate this feature into existing CM 6.2 roms?
Or, maybe, look at the source of this patch so it can be included to popular ROMs?
Proposed feature is indeed a great one, but CM7 is not stable enough currently..

xda member pulser_g2 has backported it to 6.5 may he can help you.
I have not submitted the spoofing code to CM. I'll wait for the revoke part to be merged first.

Yes please! So many Asus apps I want to get off this thing.
Sent from my ASUS_Z008D using XDA Free mobile app
Root, then get the app Titanium Backup, and freeze/uninstall any system apps you don't want. I'd suggest freezing them rather than uninstalling.
You can root and delete/backup the apks or use the package manager to disable as appropriate:
To list enabled packages containing 'asus':
# pm list packages -e | grep asus
To disable:
# pm disable com.asus.zencircle
To list disabled packages:
# pm list packages -d
If **** hits the fan, just enable the package again.
This method prevents the app from running but allows you to revert if need be.
Disabling/freezing is safer than deleting these system apps plus you can still take OTAs with disabled apps whereas missing system apps can fail an update.

did it in the old fashion way.... deleted all the buggers.
how can i do it? i want to del so many apps or disable them
I ended up using a pre rooted image here and disabling the apps themselves. I'm still trying out the Asus apps to see how I like them (memo etc.). Typical usage after doing this is around 1-1.5GB of ram which is fine as I have 4GB. If I had 2GB I think I would be much more aggressive in removing any and all bloat.

I use rom toolbox pro to freeze apps if not used (youtube and other apps if not neded24/7) , then you can disable on boot so no update failure and system memory free and preserve bandwith, no icons apps and easy to restore if you wanna back bloatweare like google maps, dr safety and all asus apps. Also you can use it to uninstal system apps. Not tested yet if rom backup work, but i will test it soon 'cuz facing with 2 softbrick after OTA update (first was at first phone use with not rooted image thanks to "clean master" issue, second forget to disable root on supersu pro).
Hi there,
I do not know whether it is the right place for me to ask the question, but anyways...
Recently I have bought treadmill MQ7 (look the pic).

At the start it has had it is own crappy Chinese launcher and access to the android preferences was password protected. I have managed to find out the password, installed another launcher (Nova Launcher) and set it by default. Everything is fine except two things that trouble me:
1. Sometimes system suddenly becomes unresponsive, then screen gradually turns white and system restarts and I do not know why, neither how to fix it (I have not ask the support yet, because it is clear that treadmill was not supposed to be used as an ordinary tablet, as there was this launcher). So, any suggestions before I ask support about the issue?
2. The system that installed on treadmill is Android Kitkat 4.4.4:
Kernel version
3.10.0
[email protected]#1
Build number
rk312x-eng 4.4.4 KTU84Q eng.alam.20150914.154051 test-keys
It has no Google Play, neither Google services installed and it is real pain in the a... But, the treadmill has USB port, so is there any way to make a backup of the ROM and flash another one with Google services?
The treadmill's system based on ROCKCHIP RK3126.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, it is not my native language.
ciao i guess u have same tablet system installed on my treadmill

Intro
This is a bit different than most postings here, as I'm not providing any binaries to install on your phone and instead providing a simple tool, rattlesnakeos-stack, to build your own OS based on AOSP on a regular basis, with your own signing keys, and your own OTA updates. This probably will be interesting to a small subset of users as it does cost money to run this infrastructure in AWS.
What is RattlesnakeOS
RattlesnakeOS is privacy focused Android OS based on AOSP for Google Pixel phones. It is my migration strategy away from CopperheadOS (hence the name similarity) which is no longer maintained.
Features:
Based on latest AOSP 9.0 (Android P)
Support for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL
Monthly software and firmware security fixes delivered through built in OTA updater
Maintain verified boot with a locked bootloader just like official Android but with your own personal signing keys
Latest Chromium browser and webview
Latest F-Droid client and privileged extension
Free of Google’s apps and services
What is rattlesnakeos-stack
Rather than providing random binaries of RattlesnakeOS to install on your phone, I've gone the route of creating a cross platform tool, rattlesnakeos-stack, that provisions all of the AWS infrastructure needed to continuously build your own personal RattlesnakeOS, with your own signing keys, and your own OTA updates. It uses AWS Lambda to provision EC2 spot instances that build RattlesnakeOS and upload artifacts to S3. Resulting OS builds are configured to receive over the air updates from this environment. It only costs a few dollars a month to run (see FAQ for detailed cost breakdown).

How do I set this up?
Head over to the github repo and take a look at the README for full setup, build, and flashing instructions.
Project Fi
Cool stuff, I'm definitely going to try it now! Your repo says that Project Fi will most likely not work, but it runs on the T-Mobile towers. Is there an additional feature that Fi needs? I don't use the e-sim, just a normal nano.

It potentially can work w/ Project Fi if you target just a single supported carrier by manually setting APN settings. I haven't ever tried it as I don't have Project Fi, but here's a post from CopperheadOS subreddit where a user was able to get it working with T-Mobile.
I'm running my first build now! Can't wait to see how this turns out. I just had to build with the custom hosts file. No need for Ad Blockers now!!
Update. The first build finished without a single issue and flashed just fine! Thanks for bringing this to the Pixel line!
How might one create userdebug builds using this stack?
Anyone messing with this?
Hi all,
On Android 13, Google enabled KVM support for Tensor Chips model(Pixel 6 / 6pro / 6a). So we can run a Virtual machine at full speed, but there is no APP to utilize this feature.
I modified the Limbo Emulator (QEMU), so it can enable the KVM on Pixel 6 Phones. Due to the limitation of the kernel, the APP needs ROOT permission to access the KVM service(/dev/kvm)
Currently, only VNC is working on this APP, and you can only boot directly using the Linux kernel. UEFI did not work on KVM.
Network functions worked, but you may need to set the DNS inside the Guest OS.
Arch Linux for arm64 runs pretty well on Limbo. It runs even faster than Raspi 4. You can download it from ArchLinuxARM-aarch64-latest.tar.gz
Other Linux can also run on the Limbo, but you may need to recompile the kernel to enable virto-related functions.

Thanks for this
Gives me a "package appears to be invalid" when trying to install. Assuming this could be a signature issue? not sure....
im having same issue
edit: you need to install the debug apk with adb
Code:
adb install -t <name-of-apk>
it would be awesome if this app had a terminal emulator function so you dont have to exclusively use the vnc viewer.
Can confirm this^ works. Would love to install w11 with this. Looks good

Unfortunately the issue still exists.
I've attached a log on Pastebin though I can't see anything obviously wrong other than Java not being able to find a file.

can you try using uefi mode?
uefi mode results in nothing.
UEFI + Debian works just fine. One issue i have is that ssh port forwarding just doesn't work, but telnet does (but it forgets i set it every time i launch the app).
Is there a telegram group for this project?
Can you please share how you created the EFI pflash image, specifically the part where the memory write issue is resolved. I have an idea on how to fix Windows, but I've not ever seen the memory write issue.
