Why do you need EDL mode? If you already unrooted and your phone is working, you shouldn't need MSM. That is mainly used to recover a bricked device.
To get in EDL mode, power off the phone and unplug from the computer. Hold down Vol+ and Vol- while you connect USB to computer. Keep holding both Vol buttons until it gets to EDL mode. I don't know about your virtual machine, you'll just have to look at settings and see if there are different options for how to handle USB devices.

adb reboot edl
is my preferred way when possible. I also found on my windows computer I needed the non-64bit Qualcomm USB driver or my device would just reboot after going into EDL mode.

[Q] My vs985 cannot enter download mode and usb test mode.

Hi all:
I am a blind. My device is Verizon LG G3. Android version is 11c. I want to realize device test mode, so I call ##228378 then press call button to enter services menu. Then I click the first option. A dialog appears and ask me to restart the phone. I don't know talkback cannot run at all. I press OK. Then I cannot do anything. I cannot hear any sound. I find a friend to help me to quit the mode. But she don't know how to do. I search in the internet, I know that if pressing power button then power off menu could quit this mode. My phone is restarted normally. But I find a new quesstion: my USB test mode is unavailable. I cannot use adb to control my phone. I find a rom flash tool to refresh the rom to solve this problem. But this tool cannot find any devices. My phone is seemed not to be connected into the computer. I want to update my system and root the phone. I can transport files into my phone. So USB cable is no problem. I also test the phone in many computers. Please help me. Thanks!

However, could you offer a download link of the drivers? Although I have made more experiment, I still want to try your way.
Please note: The option"broadband" appears from USB mode selection of notificationBar don't appears, so I cannot share the internet through USB, and is not that cannot get any effert from the PC.
Thanks!

If do I just login teamviewer on my computer? What time do you want? I think I should after a good 8 hours. Thanks a lot.

Why can't I get Windows to recognize a G4 in Fastboot mode?

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my daughter's G4, and I have run into a heavy snag. I get "code 10" (driver can not start) when it's in fastboot mode, but I'm fully able to connect with adb when the phone's up and running. This is not my first rodeo, and I'm sure the USB cable works (original cable), I have enabled USB Debugging (or ADB wouldn't work in the first place) and I think I have done everything else that should be done. But the damn thing won't work on any of my computers, under Windows 7 or 10. Driving me nuts! Also when it's booted up I see it as an LG Mobile ADB interface, but when it's on Fastboot it insists that it is an MTP device, even if I have set it as a PTP device when it's booted up. Can anybody please tell me what I have to do to get this to work? Another thing is that if I run "adb reboot-bootloader" (or even the wrong syntax (at least I think the dash should be there) "adb reboot bootloader", which LG's page says), it will not boot into fastboot/bootloader, it reboots into Android. So I have to get into the setup by holding in vol + and plugging in the USB cable. But I don't know if this is related.
Edit: Oh, btw, I have tried to find the latest drivers, so far I'm on 4.0.0.0. They are dated May 2015.

PC Failed to detect Mi Max ( 64gb version)

My Windows 10 notebook could detect the MiMax through its File explorer : I could view all phone contents in internal memory and ext SDcard
BUT using Mi PC Suite software, the phone just couldn't be connected to it - I had selected USB connection as MTP
When I booted the phone into EDL mode, the PC also failed to detect the phone and I just could not select the Qualcomm drivers too
I'd appreciate any help on this
I have the same problem, although adb and fastboot work just fine, I have not been able to get into edl mode, that I can discern. No red flashing light or other indicator. Thought maybe I'd unlock it and see if that helps.
I've read everything I can find and there are 4 different ways to go into edl mode: adb, fastboot, holding volume +/- while inserting usb connected to pc and connected device while holing volume +/- and power, wait for vibration, let loose of power for next vibration, but none work on my device.
I find I have to toggle the usb connection between mtp and whatever then back to mtp to get file access and I wonder if that has something to do with my irregularities.
Not a big deal (pun??) as I love the phone. This has replaced my note 5. Love the size and performance is comparable.

USB Debugging - Authorisation for PC

I am trying to back up my phone using Syncios. I have all the options made in Developer Settings/Mode. Phone is Android 10, March update.
On an elderly Windows 7 machine, I get a USB Debugging Authorisation panel on the phone and I accept and connect flawlessly to Syncios.
On a much newer Windows 10 Home laptop, I do not get the panel, so cannot authorise to connect to PC.
Any ideas/tips please??
Since the Android 10 update I can't connect the phone via USB to any of my computers (win10, 7, Ubuntu), also I can't connect it in fastboot, so maybe you get the same bug on your phone.

The phone connects to a W7 computer perfectly well.
It's been a couple of months since I was able to successfully connect phone on Ubuntu or Win10. It's not even showing any notification that it is connected.
My phone works fine with both a Mac (10.11) and PC (Windows 10)... Maybe there's something you can clear data on... Maybe if you click on Revoke USB debugging authorizations?
I normally use wireless adb though. The app Quick Settings gives me a toggle in the notification shade (ADB over LAN) and then I just adb connect IP from the computer. My router assigns a fixed IP and hostname to my phone so it's easy

I’m connecting my iphone to windows pc and i have errors constantly. I have additional software to connect different os. It isn’t an issue. I have notifications about viruses. That’s weird because i have this protection it seems to be ok. Can’t understand what’s the problem

Question Completely Bricked! Someone help

One plus 9pr complete brick. Cannot access fastboot or recovery. Will not turn on and when I plug in only shows a connect a chargwer screen. It is charged. I cannot get msm tool to connect either.
What led up to this point?
We'll need more info than this:
Are you using a Windows computer?
Is it Windows 10?
Have you plugged in USB via USB port on the computer or USB hub? (Should always plug directly into the computer)
Windows 10 has driver signature checks on by default, the Qualcomm drivers are not signed so you need to disable signing before trying to use MSM tool : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...river-signature-enforcement-windows-10-a.html (I usually use option 2, BCDEdit)
Here's the Qualcomm EDL drivers : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586335873
You need to press both VOL buttons and POWER to get into EDL mode, make sure you choose the correct assignment from the top "TARGET" dropdown in the MSM tool too and make sure it's the correct MSM tool for your region/phone. They're all available from here
There's a decent guide here
There's a video here for OnePlus 8/8 Pro but it's the same technique (remember to give him a like if he helps you out ) :
If the MSM tool doesn't show "CONNECTED" on any COM port then keep the cable connected and try rebooting the phone back into EDL mode again, it will eventually show up.
