Hi.
Currently I'm using MIUI on Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. I'm interested to install LineageOS ROM, but I already used to MIUI's apps and features.
I need help finding replacement for these apps/features that won't be included with LineageOS:
1. Screen Recorder
2. Quick ball
3. Dual apps
4. Cleaner
5. Schedule power on/off
6. Navigation button shortcuts. Especially the ability to view RAM usage (and then freeing it by clearing all background apps by tapping one "X" button) using menu key, and force-closing current app by holding back key.
Please tell me if you know how or which app to get as replacements for these features on LineageOS.
Thank you.

Hello, when i hold home key, i just see 6 recent programs, but i want to see all of programs i am using on multitasking menu (like on iphone) is there any way to do that ?
I am sorry but its not possible...It can only display last six recent apps...BTW do you really use more than 6 apps at a time??
In some ROMs like opendesire and cyanogenmod you can set recent apps to 9 etc.. You can also use a task manager with a shortcut to see what's running.
But I do not recommend using a task manager on Android 2.1 or higher.
why ? I saw that on stock samsung galaxy s, when you hold the button it opens multitasking menu with 6 recent apps and under theme there's a link to all running programs
this is a Passionate Desperate Plea to all Developers. Please, Please, Please (in my culture the amount of times you say please infers the passion of the plea) include an option in the ROMS to remap and customize the way the menu function works in ICS.
after having used the Galaxy Nexus extensively i am fond of having my menu options on the action bar and am even willing to have my screen real estate reduced by the now infamous 3dots
all current mods move the menu button around the physical buttons but this still removes the action button on any ICS native apps, thereby defeating the purpose.
so my suggestion would be to have the following:
STOCK ICS with 3 Dots
Menu on Recent Apps
Menu on Hold Home
and have this as an option in all ROMS if possible including CM9, AOKP etc, for all ICS roms on all phones
Wrong section mate ...
please advise me on where i should put it
And also, no longer an issue, except maybe in AOSP-based ROMs because the new 4.0.4 Sense base has much better native functionality for reassignment of the 'Recent Apps' key with no affect on native apps.

1. can be found in Cyanogen 9

3. possible with older base and 3dotMOD...see in AROMA...with new base its on hold recent apps...
thanks ill check out a 2.0x ROM, downloading one as we speak. the thing is I saw it in the MIUI ROM as well. thought itw as native to ICS, let me see
Greetings,
I just wanted to share some tweaks that I've done on my phone to make it much more user-friendly.
Disclaimer: I am not an android expert, until two days ago I had no idea how to root a phone. I realise some CM and other roms can do some of this stuff, but from my linux days I didn't want to go down this road.

ROM: This works with the stock Galaxy Y rom, and can be adapted to pretty much any Android phone, I think.
The Main Event: Media control using hardware buttons
1. Root your phone.
2. Install the XPosed installer backported by liudongmiao, found as an attachment from the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44034334&postcount=1
2.1. Using the installer, download and install the XPosed framework. For more help on this see this video by galaxyyarchive (the link in the description did not work for me) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsmQsP-lDWU
3. Using the Xposed installer, you will need to download and enable the module Xposed Additions. I also highly recommend the App Settings GB module.
4. Once it's all installed and rebooted, open the Xposed Additions app. Click on Buttons, Add New Key. Press the key you want. Add a condition (screen on / off / lock screen). Select the actions. Repeat this for all the keys and actions that you would like!
How I have my phone configured: Hold volume up to play/pause (regardless of screen condition). Hold volume down to go next song (regardless of screen condition). Hold back to go previous song (unless the screen is off).
It works flawlessly for me, never had unexpected results.
Problems / Tweaks
This method can not control the stock music app!. Most other players seem to work, I like to use RocketPlayer. It also works with pandora and jango.
On my phone, holding any of these buttons will start rocket player, even when the screen is off. So don't accidentally hold down volume down when you desperately want silence!
Do not install the Xposed framework or modules on the SD card (link2sd). They need to be loaded on boot.
How to prevent the screen turning on
1. To prevent media controls from waking the screen, you will need to edit a few files. Using root explorer or similar, navigate to /system/usr/keylayout
2. Open each of the files, and wherever it says VOLUME_UP or VOLUME_DOWN, remove the word WAKE from the same line.
3. Reboot.
Small problem
Rocket player has a really cool lock screen with media control, which works great together with the stock lock screen. However, when this is on, the phone will wake regardless of the above changes, when pressing volume buttons.
Camera Tweaks
If you install the App Settings GB module in XPosed, you can tick the box "show when locked" on the camera. Now when the camera is open and you lock the screen, when you wake the phone you will still be in the camera app! Close it and the screen is still locked.
This App also allows other handy tweaks, like forcing auto rotation or full screen (or not) in any application. Like Gallery!
I've also set holding menu to open the camera using XPosed Additions when the screen is on.
I hope this information will be helpful to someone! All the above, together with link2sd and juicedefender have made me like my phone again!
Hi,
I'm new with Lineage and so far I'm very satisfied.
But there are few issues that realy bugged me and I hope someone here can help me with them.
(I installed Lineage for Xiaomi mi5 with gapps - Nano)
1. Is there a way to add to the tile (the options on the top bar) a button like all of the phones, so I can switch between silent mode and ring mode? How?
(I already know about the option from the power button)
2. On the recorder app, after I record few records, how can I see the list of them?
3. About calendar widget, is there a way so I can set the widget to my main screen with month view? How? (currently its only on task/day view)
4. On Android (AOSP) keybord that came with this Rom, can I set that on the top of the keyboard will be numbers instead of characters? How?
Thanks in advanced...
i could help you with no.4 i guess,
you'll need the Google Keyboard app from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en
then you have to disable the AOSP keyboard then you could customize it as you mentioned

1 swipe down. You will see a pencil. Tap it.
I've installed Lineage OS 18.1 on Moto G7 after a year or so of experience of Resurrection Remix OS. Positively impressed with speed and smootheness of the LOS. But I'd really love to get reach to a couple more of settings and tweaks.
One of them is the list of recent apps appearing when the square bottom button is touched. The list quickly gets long and littered with all kinds of service apps you run once. Yes, there is a standard option at the end of the list 'Clear all'. But I'd prefer a cleaner experience without an obligation of a regular manual tidying up. Just a short list of really useful apps to call back: camera, dictionary, navigator, and some others on my choice. In RR OS there is a dedicated tab in the Settings where I could choose which apps are shown in the Recents and which are not. In LOS I just cannot find any way to arrange it. I could accept to sacrifice the Recents function as such. But everything I find in Settings -> Buttons is a long press on Recents, not even short press.
Could you please share the way to tweak the list of the apps to show in Recents, or an add-on which gives access to this option, or a simple environment variable to edit in some config file switching off Recents.
Thanks in advance
