I've BRICKED my device
All of a sudden, when the device was connected to the charger and was in standby, I tried to power it up....and it wouldnt turn on. I pulled the charger cable out....the LED was still glowing. I pulled the battery and put it back in.....and that was it. Completely dead....no response
Plugging in the power, switching batteries (fully charged), pressing all buttons, hard reset/emergency mode key combos, punching the reset hole a million times, pulling the batteries in/out with the charger in/out....all sorts of crap tried. Even the power LED doesn't glow when the charger is connected. NO sign of life from the PDA in ANY form. Completely dead = paper weight. Also tried holding the power button for over a minute or two...nothing happens. Also tried using Mirage and pluggin it in....doesn't detect anything.
Now I need some help guys -
1. My i780 is just 2 weeks old. Will my warranty be void if Samsung finds some other rom? If so, how do they process this? Can they fix and I pay for support?
2. If the device doesn't power up, they anyway cant figure what rom's in there...so i should technically qualify for a replacement....am i right?
3. Anyone here have bricked and dealt with samsung service? your experience?
4. Any other ideas on what i could do to unbrick?
Thanks....sucks guys
try using the search function:

I'm not a noob around here, i've searched way more than that....so, that really didnt help. thanks!
That doesnt work as my device is TOTALLY dead. I cant get into emergency mode either.
Hello,
I understand much about computers, but little about phones.
I woke up today and realized i forgot to charge my phone. It had a steady red light on the power button and no reaponse from any button (the screen was black also) so i just took out the battery, waited two seconds till the light went off, poped the battery back in and
i get NO response at ALL?
I figured the battery was just dead so i plugged it into the wall, after ten minutes.. nothing. the light never even lit up indicating it was charging!
SO i pluged it into my laptop, and same result. Windows7 doesn't even recognize it!
If i hold down the power button, no responce (even if i hold it for 2+ minutes)
No lights light up, nothing.
THe cable i have is actually brand new, my sister got a new phone the other day and wanted to keep her old charger and gave me this one.
PLEASE someone help!
if u can access download mode try to reflash the rom
I can't even get windows 7 to recognize it's pluged in!
what do i do?
dl flash tool and install drivers
Where can i download this?
& sorry its making me wait 5 mins between each post
Wait, i just remembered. i used to plug my phone into this computer to use the sd card that's in my phone to transfer files to my other computer (because i didn't have a flash drive at the time)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351299
still nothing... is there anything else i can do??
try to access download mode, hold "back" button then plug usb while turned of if u see a green light means u can access it
have you tried to charge about 2 hours or more?
See what happened is, i woke up and the light was steady red.
and the screen was all black, no responce with any keys. so i removed the battery and placed it back in,
now i think i might need a new battery? i tried 3 different cables and boxes that go into the wall, also tried them all on two different computers. absolutely no response from phone indicator light nor did any of the computers detect it.
i tried withoout sd card. no result.
tried holding down back key then plug it in, no result.
If i go to a store around the block that sells verizon phones and accessories ect. do you think he will help me troubleshoot?
Maybe i need a new battery.. IDK. this is really frustrating
If your battery is damaged, your phone will power on with the battery out and the power cable plugged in. If your device still wont power on, it's not the battery.

I called AT&T (my carrier) for warranty service but you can call Sony Ericsson directly. I don't know the number but I'm sure you can find it.
About six minths ago, my htc 820 had bricked.
When I connect the phone to wall charger or computer, it only responds blinking a orange LED.
At that time, I tried push a power button, volume - + power button and volume - + volume - + power button, but it failed.
A few days ago, I disassembled the phone cover, and I disconnect battery from the phone. I waited for a day, and I reconnect the battery to the phone. But.......... It didn't work.
Now, my htc 820 is recognized Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008(COM4). My computer even cannot recognize it correctly. Is there anything I can do to revive the phone, please.

Edit:
WOW... my phone is alive!! All i did now was:
I tried charger from my galaxy core (same amperage like htc 820 = 1A) but i used original cable from my htc charger. The led was still blinking so i decided to "knock" the back panel (around the place where connector from batterry is), then i pressed vol and vol- and power button for around 20-30s, then i pressed vol- and power button for around 30s then i released everything, then i pressed power button for 10sec and my phone turned on!!! im so happy! my phone is still on warranty but i live abroad now so i need to send it to my country to start warranty procedure but no im free of this!
Thank You guys for pushing me to try once more the magical tricks with cables, chargers and buttons
Btw.
My batterry is now 100% = that means it was charging all the time?
i don't know what was that but i am happy that it work now.
I tried this, but failed.

I tried as above. But I failed. I pressed vol+ + vol- + power button, and then released. Then I pressed vol- + power button. Then pressed power button as you quote. Was I wrong?
My htc 820 won't wake up.... and thank you for the reply.

no your case is different, showing up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008(COM4) means your phone has been hard bricked and I dont think there is any way to make it work again as far as I know, there is no fix for hard bricks except for some phones(not D820)
----
but if you connect charger and LED still turns on, there may be a way, take it to a repair store I guess

Thank you for your answer. I want to know what QDLoader 9008 means and you gave me a cool answer. I'll give up reviving htc 820. :crying: There are no htc service center in South Korea.
In the meantime, the phone has been connected to wall charger for 6 hours, but still orange LED blinks.
Something I am doubt about charging process, I found a charger and the phone became hotter. Why they are getting hotter?
So someone gave me a bricked Sony experia m5, i believe that's what it is. When i plug in a charger the red light comes on but i cannot turn on the phone. i tried holding the power off button next to the sim slot for 10+ seconds but that didn't help either. I also tried holding the power on button with the volume down to no avail. I did some googling and found im not the only one with this issue. Altough advice was hard to find i managed to find a video about the same issue on a z3. As in the video i opened up the phone, reconnected all of the connectors. I left the battery connector out, then plugged it in and try to start it. Still didn't work.
I have never used a sony phone before and i have no idea what i should do next, i hope someone has advice for me
Repair centre unfortunately
Hey Guys,
I have a 3XL that wont boot. This phone was given to me from a friend so I don't have a lot of history on it. He told me it was working fine until it wasn't. Phone appears dead. When I plug it in, the unlocked bootloader screen appears, followed by a battery icon and then battery percentage; ~95% +. The power and vol buttons have tactile feedback and what feels like normal movement and do not appear "stuck". Holding power to boot yields nothing. Holding power plus vol down yields nothing.
I have cycled the power and vol buttons, pressed on screen and back etc as seen in some youtube videos.
Thoughts comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
When you plug your USB cord, what's going on device manager on your computer?
Is it detected? If yes how?
Good luck...
Sébastien.

The first time I plugged the phone in I heard the "something was just plugged in chime" followed by "setting up your Pixel". I assumed I would be able to see its contents from the computer. Not so much. Subsequent plug ins yields the same chime but no pop ups and still unable to see it in my drives or in device manager (under portable devices).
BUMP
Any thoughts on this? Anyone have thoughts as to whether this could be a hardware or software issue?
I have seen some info on power / vol flex cable failing. Could this be the cause?

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
Have you tried holding the power button down at least 30 seconds? Sometimes it has helped. Otherwise, I have no experience with broken buttons, I'm sorry...
Good luck...
Sébastien.
Took a gamble and decided to open the phone to look for some sort of hardware problem. Lo and behold, the power and vol flex cable was completely broken! The battery was loose. All of the movement from the battery eventually broke the flex and wireless charging antenna. I spoke to my friend who told me the screen had previously been replaced.
Let this be a lesson...always secure the battery with new adhesive! I have since ordered a new flex cable. Think the phone will be ok with a broken wireless charging cable or should I replace that too? I don't care about wireless charging.

Hi,
Glad you found the culprit!
About the cable... If it's broken, I'd replace it. I don't know if some current goes through when wireless charging is not in use, but just in case.
Cheers...
Sébastien.
