So someone gave me a bricked Sony experia m5, i believe that's what it is. When i plug in a charger the red light comes on but i cannot turn on the phone. i tried holding the power off button next to the sim slot for 10+ seconds but that didn't help either. I also tried holding the power on button with the volume down to no avail. I did some googling and found im not the only one with this issue. Altough advice was hard to find i managed to find a video about the same issue on a z3. As in the video i opened up the phone, reconnected all of the connectors. I left the battery connector out, then plugged it in and try to start it. Still didn't work.
I have never used a sony phone before and i have no idea what i should do next, i hope someone has advice for me

Hi,
I applied the procedure in se website unlockbootloader. And now my phone is bricked. i tried every method in this forum to bring it back but nothing worked.
-Flash didnt work
-green light is blinking when plugged in, continuous green light when connected to PC
So i decided to send my arc to service. one week later they told me that phone is not in warrant because of unlock and somehow motherboard damaged. and they told me that they cant do anything. (not even changing motherboard or smt.)
what i am asking is, is that possible. i mean could motherboard really damage because of this? of even damaged cant it get fixed?
please guys help me.. i only used my phone for three weeks and i dont want to throw it away.. (
I can only think your incident as an co-incident rather than anything else. (i.e. you unlock the boot loader and something that was troubling earlier gave way at that point of time).
I'm not sure on the repair as I'm not that technical. Hope someone can help you with.
And is motherboard something changebale? is there anyone who knows how much is an xperia arc's motherboard..
Just had the same problem today..... after unlocking the bootloader my phone bricked... i then flashed it, and got it fixed. but then I accepted the OTA by mistake... so now it's dead... totally dead. the screen won't even come on. When i press the power button, the green light flashes, and when I press the power button when holding the menu button, it vibrates.... Any ideas?!?!
Hi all,
I have received my new Samsung Galaxy Nexus just yesterday. When I unboxed it and turned it on it was working just fine and i managed to complete the setup. I was playing with the phone when it suddenly got stuck and just died. Nothing worked to fix the problem. I tried a battery pull, sim pull, powering it with the volume rockers, charging it the whole night (there was no indication it was charging) everything I could find in the forums, nothing worked. Eventually, my girl friend just tried to turn it on and it worked, it just started working. There was no happier man in the whole world than me.
ALAS, the problem returned and now my phone is DEAD.
the thing I noticed that in it's dead state the phone is heating when the battery is inside (not crazy hot but still hot enough to notice)
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HOPE!
Have you tried calling either your carrier or Samsung? If you just received it, presumably there's someone willing to do a return or warranty work.
unfortunately can't return
unfortunately, i can't return the device. will try contact local samsung rep to fix it but i hoped there is a quicker solution.
So it seems like the phone is still on, maybe just not booting right? Try turning it on while holding both the volume up & volume down keys. So all three buttons held down at once. That will get you into the bootloader, then just navigate with the volume keys to reboot and press the power key. Give that a try and report back.
it did not work either
the phone does not react
Try a different charger and cable.
bow chicka wow wow.
tried that
does not work
can't turn on galaxy nexus
i'm having the same problem....my phone just stunt then turn off it self, and i won't able to turn back on.... did my phone dead or just the battery problem???
Hey there guys,
I was repairing an HTC One X for someone i know, (she dropped it and broke her glass) but since i got it (ofc) i tried to turn it on.
No succes. So hey, why not walk to the charger and plug it in? No charging light.
Opened up the phone and checked all the connectors. they were fine.
During an hour or two charging, i was googling, and some people reported that holding vol +&- and power button would revive it. no success.
I'm not replacing her glass untill i know this isnt a hardware problem
Please, share your knowledge
Greetings,
djpbx
UPDATE: Suddenly the hox's led started to blink, idk anymore what i tried and buttons and power combinations but lets leave it going. fingers crossed then.
UPDATE: No boot after the blinks (just faded away again), put another battery in it and boom, it booted. only nothing on-screen lol, lets replace that screen.
Yesterday my Nexus 5X died. Last thing I saw was that is had entered power save mode, around 15 minutes later I wanted to check my phone but it didn't do anything. Not even the red LED when it's empty. Though, I thought maybe it's power is so low it can't even show me that.
When I got home I plugged it into the charger but still nothing happened. Left it charging all night, no sign of life. I'm not able to enter the menu by pressing volume down + power for several seconds. Tried to plug it into my pc, but my pc doesn't seem to recognize anything plugged it..
Hope you guys can help me, if I send my phone back to the place I got it from I'll have to wait around 3 weeks. This is so frustrating!
Okay nevermind, it seems the Nexus phones have some sort of security for water damage inside of 'em. Got a notification that my power was cut off to prevent damage due to water damage. It waited untill it was dry and it is working fine now.
Hey Guys,
I have a 3XL that wont boot. This phone was given to me from a friend so I don't have a lot of history on it. He told me it was working fine until it wasn't. Phone appears dead. When I plug it in, the unlocked bootloader screen appears, followed by a battery icon and then battery percentage; ~95% +. The power and vol buttons have tactile feedback and what feels like normal movement and do not appear "stuck". Holding power to boot yields nothing. Holding power plus vol down yields nothing.
I have cycled the power and vol buttons, pressed on screen and back etc as seen in some youtube videos.
Thoughts comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
When you plug your USB cord, what's going on device manager on your computer?
Is it detected? If yes how?
Good luck...
Sébastien.

The first time I plugged the phone in I heard the "something was just plugged in chime" followed by "setting up your Pixel". I assumed I would be able to see its contents from the computer. Not so much. Subsequent plug ins yields the same chime but no pop ups and still unable to see it in my drives or in device manager (under portable devices).
BUMP
Any thoughts on this? Anyone have thoughts as to whether this could be a hardware or software issue?
I have seen some info on power / vol flex cable failing. Could this be the cause?

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
Have you tried holding the power button down at least 30 seconds? Sometimes it has helped. Otherwise, I have no experience with broken buttons, I'm sorry...
Good luck...
Sébastien.
Took a gamble and decided to open the phone to look for some sort of hardware problem. Lo and behold, the power and vol flex cable was completely broken! The battery was loose. All of the movement from the battery eventually broke the flex and wireless charging antenna. I spoke to my friend who told me the screen had previously been replaced.
Let this be a lesson...always secure the battery with new adhesive! I have since ordered a new flex cable. Think the phone will be ok with a broken wireless charging cable or should I replace that too? I don't care about wireless charging.

Hi,
Glad you found the culprit!
About the cable... If it's broken, I'd replace it. I don't know if some current goes through when wireless charging is not in use, but just in case.
Cheers...
Sébastien.
