Greetings,
Purchased a T-mobile samsung galaxy s 4.
I unlocked it. Tried to use Red Pocket mnvo and there is voice but no data.
So I rooted it and removed the T-mobile data usage apk and still no data.
I have spent hours trying to get data to work.
What more needs to be done to get this phone to operate on a Red Pocket or Straight Talk mnvo using AT&T towers?
I use the same settings that work in my other unlocked android phones and no luck.
What APK is responsible for preventing data to work?
Do I need to flash a new customized rom to get this to work?
Has anyone else gotton an AT&T mnvo to work on this T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4?
I am still within my return period so I need to find a solution or send this phone back.
I was orginally going to use T-mobile because they seem to promise 4g here but when I got it I find out there is only 2g speeds where I live.
My post won't help .. but this is very interesting as I am going to do the same thing.
I'll definitely watch this thread.
Is any one else out there getting Data connection with other carries after unlocking and rooting there T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s 4?
Any ideas on the cause of no data?

Try changing the network operator or the mobile network and see if your not using tmobiles instead of at&t...

You need to go to mobile settings and change the apn to the network you are trying to connect to also I think the phone has to be network unlocked
unlock isn't network unlock?

I did change the network to the one I am trying to connect to.
Also, I went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code. I thought that unlocks the network? The data has worked on all my previous samsung galaxy's after using the unlock code except for this phone.
Please HELP someone!
My friends has a g920p and wants to enable some bands so lte from telcel can work now he has only H+. Can that be done. I know that the s3 can with some magic. Thanks

Just put the phone on automatic in mobile network settings and set up two apns one for hspa and another for lte but make sure the lte apn has the bearer option set to lte the other just leave it how it is.
Didnt get it my friend.... here in mexico we use same apn for 3G or 4G LTE. We just need a sim v6.x and will get the lte bands.

I know how to do this, but you would need to have the MSL number, if you don't then Google idoneapps, this guy sells an app that unlocks phone and extract that number.
So i need the msl number so how can i get it. Friends phone is already unlock.
Enviado desde mi SM-G920F mediante Tapatalk
MSL number is needed to edit data settings in sprint hidden menu. Install shortcut lite master and then search for PST, launch that application. Then look for ##Data#menu. You'll see there if your LTE is enabled or not. If it is not the only way to enable it is having MSL number.
Hidden Menu
there is no need for app for shortcut. Go to setting and go to Activate this device. Phone will load some info then look at top right for MORE. Click on it then click on PST. This will take to hidden menu,
To get LTE working all you have to do is create two separate APN's one with your regular APN settings and another that is identical APN settings but on the "Bearer" setting put it on LTE and you're good to go also make sure your phone is set to automatic and not gsm / umts

Also the phone will automatically switch to the apn that's needed. No need to keep switching apns

what you stated here is correct. but have you tried it yourself?
I did, but there issue with send text messages. incoming sms works, outgoing - no.
there is no need to set to automatic. in service menu there is point where you can set preferred network type LTE_GSM_UMTS., but again, sms does not work.

No clue maybe do ##72786# it will reset the phones modem settings and it will nag about activation again and relock the phone but I did it since I can unlock it myself again and never had an issue.
Weird thing is that my phone after unlock it wanted activation popup and then it actually went through and it went away with my T-Mobile sim.

Ok found something out for some reason if you do not get LTE after setting it to Automatic switch to LTE/CDMA let it reboot and Reswitch it to Automatic reboot again then LTE+GSM_WCDMA should work.
Do you mean in service mode select cdma/lte then reboot and then go back to service mode n select gsm/wcdma/lte? Because ive been trying that fkr hkurs since reading your post lol. If this works your a beast . We need a gsm rom for this phone tho

George, do you have a legit way to get lte working on our device ? I haven't seen any proof from anyone claiming lte working on att or tmobile.

hmmm, been in the same boat with T-Mobile and a G920P, with only 3G being picked up but after switching it to automatic, it picked up LTE! Thanks for the poiter. However, have you been able to get MMS enabled or working as I seem to have issues with that and not sure why it isn't downloading the messages. Not sure if I need to give T-Mo a call and get something enabled or what. BTW, how did you manage to make that annoying activation screen go away as the moment I got it unlocked and popped in my sim card, it can't ever activate, but works fine though
any one succeeded in unlocking bands
Has anyone had any success enabling additional bands on a Sprint S6? Basically the bands it comes unlocked with are useless for Europe 4g and would love to unlock bands 3, 7, 20, 28, however 3 & 7 would be enough.

Same here. seems to me Samsung does not give us open source to edit Exynos settings. As I'm aware, our phones' hardware is capable to get those bands
So I jumped on the AT&T/DirecTV Unlimited data deal and ported my phone today. It all looked normal and I got the activation texts and such - it even populated the nxtgenphone APN info (though it was deselected and I had to select it). Anyway, I've had no data at all. As a test, I switched the APN to phone and data works, but the speeds appear to be much lower than what my wife's iPhone is seeing on the nxtgenphone APN. Anyone got any tips?
I'm running Viper 2.5, latest US unlocked firmware and US unlocked selected as carrier, and it works fine on AT&T other than this......only other thing I can mention is when I select preferred band or whatever it shows WCDMA/GSM and if I change it to WCDMA/GSM/LTE it reverts back for some reason. Any help much appreciated. I've called AT&T and they're like, uh, we don't sell the HTC 10 so can't really help you... grrrrrr.....

I'd suggest ruu to stock us unlocked rom and see if the issue persists.
Or, try clean flash of viper.
I have no issues using US unlocked on AT&T with both stock rom and ice.
Thanks for trying to help. I just finished trying stock RUU and same problem. I'm convinced, as I was before, that this is AT&T's issue. I've read numerous posts this afternoon that because the HTC 10 (and other phones) aren't in their "LTE approved" database, nxtgenphone APN won't work, or it will only give HSPA speeds. Seems like everyone who has resolved it, or didn't run into the issue at all had another AT&T LTE phone they could use for the IMEI on the account, or the rep entered the model as an iPhone or similar to make it work. Really, really frustrating, as they refuse to help me and I'm starting to think I should just terminate in the 14 day window and do T-mobile or Verizon.
I have at&t and everything worked out of the box, I've never been on stock rom, always on Viper I did the unlock and s-off without a sim and never had an issue or called at&t to activate the device I just transferred my sim from my note 4 to the HTC 10, no provisioning issues at all, VOLTE works, LTE is fine as well while on a phone call... No issues... If you need anything to compare let me know

Thanks for replying. They did confirm it was a provisioning issue and they fixed it today. They had to do something different, as the default HTC 10 provisioning and IMEI check didn't fix it even when they tried it a second time, but they were able to adjust something and LTE definitely works now. VoLTE working here, too. Thanks!
Just got the OP3 trying see if I can live with it on Verizon in US who is my main carrier. I also have ATT US sim in the sim2 slot and I show LTE on it. Here is what I cant figure out:
- I want VZW (sim1) for voice & text only knowing I cannot get LTE anymore. Yes I get voice and text from my first 3 hrs testing
- I want ATT (sim2) for all data
1. VZW what network type do I want in Sim1 setting? Global
2. ATT same here what network type do I need?
I found that when I am on a call sim1 I cannot surf web, etc, no data and I get ! on ATT sim2...but I have ATT sim2 set for my data not working on a call?
Use Textra for texing and single sends fine:
3. With this setup can I do not MMS text anymore well large character text msg?
4. Do I need to use another app?
Any help if you a Verizon user with dual sims would help...thx
Your data is not working on Verizon therefore you cannot receive MMS. Can't use att data to download a msg that was sent through Verizon's network. In regards of global. Verizon is CDMA so try setting it to that and I'm not sure about Att. This phone is not a good choice for verizon

Thx. I am finding this out... I think I am going to port my number over to ATT. I just like to coverage of verizon since I travel the US but ATT has some up some.
Only thing that hold me VZW when I am out in the rural VZW still works when others have no service...maybe due to their older CDMA networks I guess.

Yeah I used to use Verizon left them cuz I was grandfather in unlimited data and they basically would not let me update my phone with out losing my unlimited data, I consume around 25GB MONTHLY so for me is a must..
Hello is anyone using the AT&T Note 5 unlocked on T-Mobile? I'm having issues with calls on this device and wanted to know if anyone else was having problems. When I went to T-Mobile they told me they had upgraded their towers and because my phone wasn't the T-Mobile variant it could no longer access the call service.
Any help is appreciated
Unable to receive calls whatsoever.
Spoke to Tmo and they said they've done some upgrades on the network and they're seeing this issue a lot more now with non-tmobile phones.
I'm now looking around to see if there are any radio/kernel/rom flashes that can help solve the issue.

Hey thanks for the videos, but I have no idea what they're actually changing in the 2nd one and I dont have the app/shortcut used in the first video.
yo need an app called shortcut master lite
I have idea which code you added to the app. Is it possible for you enable touch pointer in Developer settings to show where you're actually touching the screen? You move too fast to follow in the video.
And which ones you added? Or did you follow any guide online?

Thank you for everything. But I do not see any change and still unable to receive calls.
Guess I'll have to look for another phone.
Got same issue.. U guys found any work-around??
Yup I got the same issue in NYC area too, TMO is not helping at all
Yes *2263# and unlock all your bands. TMO likes to use dedicated bands for RX and TX
For me setting the bands to automatic was the issue, if I set it to GSM and LTE it works fine. *#2263# > [1] Band Selection > [7] LTE/GSM Auto [*]
It works thank you!

Thank you so much. It works! Spent weeks working with TMO support and their solution was to ask me to buy a new TMO phone.
By any chance, are you guys allowed to dial 911?
Yes
I'm also thinking of buying an AT&T Note 5 (they're easier to find than the T-mobile one).
Are you able to get Band 12?
What about Volte? I saw somewhere (I think it was some T-mobile support page but don't know if current) that without Volte you can't have Data and phone call at the same time.
Any advantage to the AT&T version over the T-mobile?
Thanks
