Unable to setup on DASAITA PX6, CarPlay steering wheel phone functions buttons - MTCD Android Head Units General

Hello guys:
I am not able to setup the control wheel steering buttons for Phone functions ( pick up a call or end a call) on a DASAITA PX6 10.
On settings I selected CAN BUS
I setup the following commands:
- Increase/decrease Volume---OK
- Mode ( to swap between radio, AV, iPod...)---OK
- Next and previous song---OK
but when I setup the phone setting it is configured but on CarPlay doesn't work, I am no able to pick up the phone.
Any help???
Best regards

What does reseller suggest when contacted for support

My understanding is that there are two ways to connect these units to can bus.
One is with the external vehicle specific can bus boxes, which are not really programmable.
The second is with the key1/2 wires which is internal and are programmable through the key study. I have never used this method, so I know nothing about it... but you could try it.
If all else fails, you can try a PAC can bus adapter.
PAC – Connecting cars and technology. Your total installation solution.

Thanks for your replies.
I can program the keys. But what I am not able to program the phone function to work. I assign the functions to the buttons but it doesn’t do anything.
On the other hand the other buttons programmed (increase/decrease volume) works properly

Did you setup the keys for just the Dasaita in the unit's settings, or have you also setup the keys in the ZLink app?
I had only done the former and had this problem when I first was trying CarPlay with the ZLink app. What you will need to do is open the ZLink App, without connecting your iPhone to the unit (put it in airplane mode, or leave it in the house far away from your car), then go to Settings within the app. There you will see options to assign the steering wheel keys to the various functions you want for your phone. Once it is all set, you will be able to control CarPlay exactly how you want.
Hope this helps!

Bluetooth medai control?

I have tried to pair two different bluetooth media controllers but neither will connect. I see them as available in the devices list but when I click connect nothing happens. I assume if I can see them in the list even the funky bt setup on this thing can use it or is that not correct?
I have a joying UQ124 its the no cd quad core version if it helps
Have you read this?

I did but was hoping someone had better results. Also, I was confused about the person who said they resolved an issue by using and xposed module. I didn't find any module that looks related to bt in a relevant way and was not sure if they were even having the same problem.
I guess I just want to know if this is even possable with this headunit or if I should keep looking for a solution.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do with your specific bluetooth controllers, but if you are unable to get them to work as intended, consider the back-lit version of the Lenovo N5902 or something similar for multimedia control of your JY unit. The N5902 works well as a multimedia remote for Android or Windows home theater multimedia systems as well as Android head units. All you'll need is an open usb port for the small wireless dongle and you'll be good to go.

Ideally I would like to use something like
amazon /iSimple-Portable-Wireless-Smartphones-Bluetooth/dp/B00KPZN5UC/ref=pd_sim_107_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=411ue0yFG3L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0QC6Y0SC8ZEF13W3638N
So I can have the controlls on the wheel, but I guess my underlying question is will the unit work with bt devices besides a phone and obd.

I have installed an Axxess RFASWC Universal RF Steering Wheel Control, Once the receiver is set to radio type 11 connect the two wires to Key1, and key2 every button except the one on the back can be mapped.
Currently trying to find a usb or Bluetooth media control for android that connects to this HU but so far not been successful.

I may go that route, it looks a little clunky and not super well designed especially for over a hundred bucks, but may be me best option.

I have to admit the Axxess RFASWC has worked out well for what it is, however I am currently waiting for a BMW I-Drive and an Arduino Leonardo board with in built CAN BUS to arrive.
Planning to write some software to convert the CAN BUS messages from the I-Drive into USB HID Remote commands.

Please note that I've only installed one of these units on a Joying JY-UQ124, and 6 out of the 7 buttons work correctly. The lower right call button does not register any signal in the JY SWC settings, so I'm guessing the button is defective. That stated, it's been about two weeks since requesting help from the ebay seller, and I'm still waiting for a reply on this specific inoperative button issue. Hopefully, the delayed reply is only due to the long Chinese New Year holiday.

Will the iDrive work in other cars? If so if you make that code you may just be my hero. Something like that is exactly what I origonally wanted.

Totally possible, infact the bluetooth version has been done already http://www.volcano.at/iDrive/
The iDrive controller and arduino arrived earlier today and only played around with then for half an hour making sure they were working, so far managed to receive lots of CAN BUS raw data.
I have also downloaded a shed load of BMW CAN BUS codes that I have yet to go through, but my initial thought is to try sending the code to impersonate turning the lights on to see which set turns on the key backlights.
Once i have more time I will get a better understanding about how the CAN BUS side of things work, and hopefully do what I want to do.
Just thought I would do a quick update on getting the BMW IDrive working with the Head Unit.
most things that i want it to do works, but the rotary part of the control, for some reason I cant get that to initialise and start sending messages when twisted.
Whats working..
Stick press -> Play/Pause
Stick left/right -> prev/next track
Stick up/down -> vol up/down
Menu -> home
Back -> back
Media -> sends shortcut keypress that starts amazon music
Radio -> sends shortcut keypress that starts the radio
Tel -> sends shortcut keypress that starts bluetooth
Nav -> sends shortcut keypress that starts Here nav
Option -> i keep a record of the last shortcut and it starts the next in line (Amazon Music>Radio>Bluetooth>nav)
What i need to do..
Enable long press for left/right -> fastforward/rewind
Enable long press for up/down -> continuous volume up and down until i release it.
and the damn rotary control lol.
adding a sensor that detects the brightness of my dash lights and alters the controller led brightness, at present i just have it set to 50% brightness all the time.

Yes, very nice implementation by hobbytronics, the HU thinks it is connected with both a USB HID Keyboard, and a USB HID Remote.
USB Keyboard starts the default apps i have setup with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper&hl=en and takes care of HOME (Menu), BACK (Back), and Switching between recent apps with the option button.
USB Remote takes care of Pev, Next, Play/Pause, Volume, etc..
Once i have it all working I will post the code up here.

I honestly dont remember. I stripped the wires on the stereo and on the remote receiver and was just going to try it one way and if it didnt work, try it the other. It ended up working the first way so I put connectors on the end to make the connection permanent and called it a day. I doubt it would hurt if you had it backwards.
[edit] Obviously red is 12v and black is ground. I used the google translate app to translate the directions, they gave me some info. It uses your phone camera to translate written language.

Malaysk rom: how to startup app into background and cannot change steering buttons

Hi,
Ik use Malaysk rom (version RK3188) on an seicaneunit in my Mini Cooper R56.
I have some issue's/problems which i cannot solve or get an aswer to...
1.
I want to run the app 'flitsmeister' (a app for traffic info and speed traps warnings). This apps runs in background and popups when it detects traffic or a speed trap, this works OK. But when i start it on boot it stays on top until i press home etc. I would like to start this app on boot and it should run in the background or the home button should be 'pressed' automaticly after a few seconds.
Is there a way to do this in this rom?!
2.
I cannot change the steering buttons control, when i open the menu and press the key to assign it simply performs the default assigned function, i cannot change this in anyway. How can i change the behavour of the steering wheel controls and save this?
3.
Is there a update for a newer android version (5 or 6) for this unit which i can use?
Steerling wheel functionality works through a canbus which most newer cars have. Seicane eonon etc all use canbus.. however thats if your vehicle have one which it should. Problem one.. your missing a canbus..
If you have a canbus 2 issues possible.
Canbus is picky and eah make speaks their own language.. now most chinese aftermarket HU use a multi purpose canbus decoder which your vehicle may not pick up or you have a faulty canbus.
2. Canbus wiring.. now alot of makes run wiring through the oem harness.. depending the hu in the modle of car.. like running a stock crappy system vs an alpine, inifinte, bode system where multipul components talk.. but that then becomes a sound issues differet topic.
The canbus wiring itself could be wrong off the new HU harness you'll have to check seicanes crappy wiring diagram matching to your oem harness. Where the canbus connection is use a multimeter with the car off.., on accessory and started.
Future reference..
Seicane eonon etc have messed up the wiring giving the canbud power even when the car is off.. meaning they ran the power off the battery live wire.. vs just the accessory and on power wire.. draining the battery of your vehicle. Simple fix youll have to just switch the power wire to the correct wire being accessories and on.
At the end of the day you most likely need the canbus for the steering wheel functions to work. Ifcyou have it do soke trouble shooting

How does steering controls works?

Hi,
I have a MTCE / PX5 with a raise , ford focus 2012 canbus decoder. Steering controls work (vol up/dw next/prev/play/pause ONLY) BUT how come I can't see anything in wheelkey study app? I would like to rebind some of my steering controls but the app don't see anything.
I have so many controls on my steering wheel I would like to bind but I can't!
Please someone have an idea what's wrong?
Thanks!
Laurent
I’ve wondered the same, I believe you need to use the mtcde app to make changes to already default binded buttons but not worked out how to unbind one first.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My understanding (although haven't tested it yet) is that you need to connect the cables Key-1 and Key-2 directly to your steering wheel if you want to use the default learning function. This is assuming Ford Focus uses resistive bridges for steering wheel keys (Mazda does). You'll have to get & check a Wiring Diagram specific to your car to find the right cables. Also, Key 2 is NOT ground, you have 2 cables because sometimes the steering wheel controls go to different devices (in Mazda 3, the Vol +/-, Next and Mode go to the stereo, while the Push-to-talk, Hang-up / Hang-down go to the Bluetooth controller)
Hope this helps
Having said this, maybe you're better of by testing first XPosed, an app that allows you to change the functions of the keys. But you'll have to root your device. Malaysk has a SW release for PX5 already rooted and with XPOSED pre-installed. But most probably XPOSED will only let you change the functions of the keys that are already working, not to solve the issues with the ones that are not

The wheelkey study app is for non-canbus only.
The steering wheel keys are controlled by the canbus decoder for some vehicles. So that you can not program them.

Helpful -- thank you. Same issue here with a 2014 VW Beetle and an Eonon GA9153A (MTCE_HT_V2.84_1). At least now I understand why the wheelkey app doesn't recognize any steering wheel buttons. Bad software design -- the app should really show a message explaining this better

Dasaita PX6 for Mazda CX7 trip computer and clock settings

Hello all
I have searched a lot and couldn't find any relevant information anywhere.
What I wanted was to be able to use the clock and trip computer in my car
(a 2008 Mazda CX7 with Bose audio). When the stock head unit is replaced
you lose the Info and Clock keys so you cannot adjust the time or change
between the various trip computer info.
So by playing around I discovered that you still can perform these actions
by using the steering wheel controls. In specific, if you press the MODE button
for 2-3 sec you enter the settings mode. There by pressing the UP arrow
you emulate the INFO key and by pressing the DOWN arrow you emulate
the CLOCK key. With the above information you can use the clock/trip
computer as before
The above might have application on other Mazda vehicles too that
use the canbus adapter to keep the steering wheel controls. Wouldn't
hurt to try anyway!
Now if only I could find a solution for the fader/balance problem of
the rear speakers (by utilizing the canbus adapter provided) I would be happy!
I made a small video showing the above for anyone that is interested.

Dasaita Max6: Help with canbus and steering wheel for 2013 CRV

Today I received the wiring harness and canbus I had been waiting for. There are two issues I need to solve:
1. The three “phone” buttons on the steering wheel are recognized, but not the directional buttons or “source” button. I assume I need a different key mode setting but I can’t seem to get them to be recognized.
2. My factory backup camera is connected to the harness but does not show up when I am in reverse (or ever, that I can see).
Thank you. I love having wireless CarPlay. :good:

1. Not all buttons could be preprogrammed . In my case (mazda cx5) the speech button are not preprogrammed. You can use mtcdtools to assign a function to that buttons.
2. Perhaps you have not enabled the reverse camera option on factory settings ..
Go there and check (pass: 126)

MTCDTools quits on launch...maybe not compatible since last update seems to be a year ago.
I still think it has something to do with the settings for the can bus.
Adding info in case anyone sees this and can help. There are two connectors on the Dasaita wiring harness that do not match my vehicle. One is two rows of six...so a 12 pin. 9 pins are in use by the wiring harness. I cannot find *any* Honda radios that use a 12-pin like this.
The second connector on the Dasaita wiring harness is a 24 pin, and 4 are used. This has the yellow RCA so clearly this is for my OEM backup camera. But my camera feed is in a single row 7 pin connector...currently nowhere to plug that in. I also have a 16 (two rows of 8) pin with nowhere to go. I’m betting the steering wheel controls are there.
I guess I’m going to have to be cutting wires, which I had hoped to avoid. I wish I could at least get a wiring diagram for this Dasaita harness.
I couldn’t get Dasaita to send me a pin out for the canbus so I just got the Axxess box and now I have steering wheel controls.
