first backup all your stuff to PC. Download the tool all in one which can be found around xda. unlock your bootloader with that, as unlocking bootloader will wipe data ( internal ), once you unlocked bootloader flash the modified twrp using that tool all in one. you have to download seperately, for that modified twrp. twrp ( custom recovery )
Personally I do not like "all in ones" but I suppose they could have their uses.
Also the community builds don't require you to unlock your bootloader or a custom recovery.
If you haven't already done it, I'm assuming you would like to not do it unless it was a necessity.
In that case you can sideload it from stock recovery. OnePlus gives step by step on their site.

Oneplus.net link says to unlock the bootloader and you say community builds don't require to unlock bootloader.these are two different things?
By the way I am a user of oneplus one from day one and oneplus 2 from second week of availability through invite system in india.I enjoyed both phones rooted and many custom roms.but I want to use oneplus 3 stock.

You are correct in that it does say that on the FAQs on that page, but if you do a bit of digging you will see it's not the case.

Thanks for your reply.i will try community build when I will free.
Does flashing community build will erase device data? I am on pure stock OOS 3.2.6
Just bought note 5 pro and did the incremental update and I am currently running on 9.2.13(Android N) Just Now I got new update 9.5.19 Kinda heard of anti roll back and all. Considering if I want to install various Roms and mods should I not update it ? Since this update directly pushing me from 9.2.13 to 9.5.19 not via 14 I won't have Oreo ( treble ) what should be next step for getting treble support and not having anti roll back ?
1)Updating to Miui 9.5.19 only restricts you from going back to older version of Miui firmware (say the 9.5.14 version). You could still flash custom roms by booting twrp from fastboot and then flashing it in the twrp.
2)Also the fastboot commands will be blocked by updating to 9.5.19, you'll have to flash arbypass.img provided in another thread to unlock them every time, before using the commands.
3) Again, you CAN still flash custom rooms and mods by booting twrp, or flashing it after flashing arbypass.img from this thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/index-everything-anti-roll-t3816219)

What if I want to try a MIUI 10 beta? If I install it, I won't ever be able to install a previous MIUI 9 stable version? And if I install custom ROMs after updating to MIUI 9.5.19, can I easily go back to MIUI 9.5.19 (or latest version of MIUI)? Does this anti rollback **** make you always flash the latest MIUI there is or newer version? What if I'm stuck in a beta? Jesus this is ridiculous, I already regret buying this phone even though it hasn't arrived yet.
Hello everyone,
i have a few questions just to make sure i understand the matter good enought.
right now my phone has a locked bootloader and i have to wait about a month until i can unlock it. The ARP code is 3.
I would like to start using my phone but also want to update to the latest firmware.
A read a lot but i still have some questions just to make 100% sure i've got this right.
Q1: Is there any other disadvantage other than ARP when updatating to the latest firmware?
Q2: Is there any advantage to use newer firmware?
Q3: From my understanding the only thing to mind when flashing a new rom while ARP is active is to make sure you don't flash a rom with an older firmware than the one installed at the moment. But beside that i can install ANY rom. Is this correct?
Thank you in advance
I also want to know

1. No, the only "bad thing" is the ARB.
2. Yes, it is, they push fixes to wifi, basebands, etc and stuff that can help with battery life or overall system performance/smoothness.
3. Yeah, that's correct. Usually custom roms don't have firmware in them, but you should check it anyway (doesn't hurt to be extra careful). So yeah, you can install any rom, even one that'll activate ARB.

1. well only thing is you need to manually install twrp when you boot into twrp. using the .img and having twrp in sd card or internal. once you flash itll stay in phone.
2. and 3. already answered above.
thanks everyone. That clears things up for me.
So this anti rollback protection isn't as bad as some make it out to be.
I'll update to the latest stock firmware and use that until i can unlock my bootloader an install custom rom.

Unless you brick your device and have to apply for Mi authorisation (the reason why this my last Xiaomi phone unless things change) "Unfortunately authorizations is not granted (anymore). You can try your luck by pm mods in miui Forum or post your ID in countless threads..." Xiaomi crap like this which prevents people using a phone they paid for. Until then I will stay on ARP 3 regardless of fixes
I've seen somewhere that if you remove firmware from zip, you can basically install any rom or that only applies to MiUI?
Is that true?
I also have few questions i would like to be answered if someone has time.
My phone is gonna come in few days, it will be in anti 3.
Im a guy that non stop changes rom and test new stuff, it would be for the best if i dont get into anti 4 or else i am screwed?
What is better, redwolf recovery or twrp and why
If im in anti 3, is custom recovery permanent or it needs special ways to access custom recovery like in anti 4?
Any rom can be installed over custom recovery if im in anti 3? I dont need MiFlash at all? As long as i remove firmware folder from zip i am about to flash
Xiaomi.eu or global dev/stable?

It's recommended to stay on ARB3, but if you get into ARB4, the removal of firmware folder in the rom works. You just gotta know how to edit the meta-inf stuff to make it flash on the device. Nothing hard. And you're not screwed, you just gotta be extra careful when flashing MIUI roms.
OrangeFox is the best, IMHO. It's nice, it's themeable sort of, it's smooth and with the latest update, you can backup your internal storage too on a nandroid backup. But when it comes to recoveries, it's down to personal preference, they basically do the same thing.
If you are on ARB3, you don't need dummy.img or any other tweaks. Since you haven't triggered ARB(which blocks most fasboot command), you can use fastboot commands normally. So after you flash the recovery(with fastboot), it stays there.
And you can install any rom in recovery, as long as the rom is built to be installed in recovery. You can't download a fastboot rom and flash it in recovery. MiFlash is used to get back to stock, mostly, that's for fastboot roms.
As for the roms, i'd recommend going into custom roms(not MIUI), but if you do really like MIUI, from what i've read on Telegram, people spoke highly of Revolution OS. I haven't personally used it, i only dealt with Xiaomi.eu roms, but again, i don't play nice with MIUI.
I want to stay arb 3 too as I'm currently waiting for my unlock.
I've seen in the firmware thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development/firmware-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-t3766138
There's "Firmware without Arb"
My question is, can I install a custom Rom, install the latest firmware without arb and stay on arb 3? So I still get the benefits of having the latest firmware.

One more question, Ill be getting redmi note 5 pro ai dual (CN) i dont need custom cust when flashing?

No, you don't (at least for xioami.eu). Usually, if there's a need for cust, the devs will say so. AFAIK, it's only needed to swap between stable and developer. And yeah, xioami.eu is a good choice.

Yes, you can install and use the latest firmware w/o moving to ARB4 (as long as it is arb-less firmware).
I'm sorry if this was asked before, but I've been searching for a few hours now and I couldn't find a good solution.
Basically, I installed twrp and magisk on my "Redmi Note 5 A.I Global Version" a few weeks ago, and I recentely sold my whyred, just now I remembered that it has twrp on it, the guy that bought the phone doesn't mind but I don't want him to have any issues with the phone.
The phone is in MIUI 10 10.0.4, it's working great with no boot loops or anything, I just want to remove the costum recovery and relock the bootloader while being certain that the method I will use won't cause him any problems.
Can I just install miui 10 rom on twrp and it will remove twrp? And then relock with mi flash unlock?
Thank you.

Got the Mi 11 5G NE recently and I'm wanting to install LineageOS on it as per the installation guide: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/lisa/install
However it says I must be on Android 12 and unfortunately I've already updated the phone to the latest Android 13 MIUI.
Just wondering if there's a reliable place to find the Android 12 stock firmware

MIUI Downloader will point you to the official ROMs
MIUI Downloader - Apps on Google Play
MIUI upgrade app for Mi users.
play.google.com
However, you would need to avoid downgrade protection (it can be done, you will have to download the Fastboot type ROM, unpack tgz, find a bat script inside that does not relock BL, edit the script to remove downgrade protection and use it then to flash manually via Fastboot - not by using MIFlash)
Btw, for any flashing you must first unlock the Bootloader (either for downgrading MIUI and/or for installing the custom ROM)

Ah nvm it went through.
Can/should I re-lock the bootloader after either rooting or installing LineageOS? might just stick with rooted stock, haven't decided yet
