If it is not an issue from Messenger itself you should take a look on <Developer Options<Bubbles and enable this feature.

Unfortunately, this method does not improve the situation for me. I don't know about others. Maybe someone has other advice.

Reboot device one time. And did you check if from withing the settings of the apps all the permissions including bubbles are allowed?

I am currently on an Android 10 system. I have no way of checking this option in more detail - and I'm not going to install the system just to check. Because I'm half sure it won't work. It's nice if someone could confirm if they have the same phone.
EDIT: I got from friend screenshots, there no option "Bubbles".

You don't need to re-install the system not weird things like these, I just said to check if inside the settings from the app itself (Messenger) exists a feature called Bubbles, I'm currently on A11 with a RN9S and I couldn't find something called specifically Bubble, the nearer feature is Floating Notifications and Notification previews if they have to be enabled to work with Chat Heads (of course all of this thread is assuming that you enable the Chat Heads from messenger)
Try to enable the option through ADB hoping that it is fixed https://9to5google.com/2019/04/03/android-q-beta-2-bubbles/

So did you make those changes via ADB?
Only asking because my understanding is that Messenger changed the way it works under A11, (to use the bubbles API), so the old A10 chat heads behaviour is gone for good.

It seems that in some moment within the beta updates since Android 10 the feature was retired (maybe for testing purposes) but after some release it was working again, not sure about WhatsApp itself, TBH I'm not a fan of Bubbles, but it relies completely on the app so in Android 11 is still implemented (with some changes)
It's just a thing to check in the app if the feature is present or not, but globally it is.
I'm currently running Android 11 and the feature changed the name Chat Heads for Bubbles, in my other device (Redmi 4X) it's under Chat Heads running Android 10 (we're talking about Messenger)

People on reddit reported this as a common issue on all A11 miui builds, someone suggested this older version of messenger which is signed in a way that makes it behave like A10 with the old floating chatheads, which I've been using for a month now.
Here's a link if you wanna try it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13_bpkc_JZ_twhP2UdpuItQv9nj7D-9jM/view
Chat heads was a custom feature for messenger, bubbles is android taking the idea system-wide. Xiaomi broke the bubbles system in 12.0.1rjz
To disable use QuickShortCutMaker or ActivityLauncher from play store.
*search for 'notifications'
*tap 'com.android.settings'
*look for 'notifications' & launch (see pic)

Interesting.
Will that change result in Messenger using its own chat heads API again?
It's perfectly working in Android 10 and 11. No need to do nothing more to get it working. All the apps can use it and customize it from the Android API. Chat Heads was since 2018 and Bubbles was included since Q. Both features are from Google and were used for any app that want, not an exclusive feature from WhatsApp nor Messenger.

Was Netflix there before? Seems to be baked in.
Wow, that's a pretty substantial update. Can bootloader be unlocked now?
Edit, just read the other thread, great news, it seems unlocking is now allowed!
Very nice, wonder when (if there is any plan) will the Nougat be?

I have no doubt we will get nougat. Keep in mind that the GS7 & 7 Edge don't have Nougat released yet. Also it seems maybe the Camera is improved abit with the update. Really a solid phone for $299, loving it.

I am very excited to hear all of these. Mine is coming tomorrow.
I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.
is x720 compatible with this update or should i wait some more?

Widgets crashing on restart
Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:
1) Battery Widget Pro
2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

First of all I don't own a magic device however I use the magic firmware on my Honor 8 so I can't cover up all info about magic usage but most of them.
So Q/A
I can't install third party launchers, why?
Because huawei blocked this on this firmware. To install third party launchers you'll need root.
So I got a launcher installed. But I can't see any widgets?
Open /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml and find there will be a # before it which disables the feature. Just remove it and reboot.
Why doesn't notifications work?
By default third party apps gets disabled notifications (idk why) go to notifications and enable them for your new installed apps.
I can't see nfc option?
This is due to being disabled in earlier builds. However B536.1 evaluation versions brings nfc settings.
Some options are still in Chinese why?
They have informed you that the English language is still in beta (unfinished) this we might be able to fix with overlays.
More will come.

What I can tell for now no I haven't seen any indication of it update wise . And since it's a test device rather then a official retail device it is likely they only are going to fix bugs etc. However I can't tell to a 100% but as its a half year since the device is released I doubt nougat is coming in near feature (if at all) there's no info as far as I can see (though I can't read or search in Chinese)

Hi There,
Magic phone is indeed magic like, feels really great and looks beautiful, very smooth feel in hand.
Needed few tips and tricks to make more use of it.
Are these possible without root, if rooted office email app will be blocked
1) How to install launcher as system app, Please pls guide. I'm dying to install Neon, Zero.
2) How to install Ultra battery mode? - it is present in Honor 6 and it's awesome!
3) Is it possible to reduce resolution - Screen power saving - like Honor 6, saves battery during night and driving
4) Possible to change keyboard during typing? Popups doesn't show in notification shade, it's painful to go to settings n change every time
TIA.
Tnx,
Shreyas

1. Without root is not possible to install any 3rd party launcher except google launcher.
2. Do you mean the ultrabattery launcher which comes with huawei? If so it could be possible.
3. Resolution i doubt without root, and no idea about that feature.
4. We'll if you don't use navigation bar no, if you do it might work. Can't tell since I don't use that firmware atm but I never saw any fast switch for keyboard

Say me can you help me with oeminfo?

Yes I am using a magic for the moment.
I've been trying to find it in the props and xmls, but I didn't find "carrier" or "operator" with a grep. It might be called something else.
Google Launcher doesn’ Work. After the installation, when I try to open it, appear an error message who advise I need to change launcher in Settings-Home but in Settings there isn’t “home”

Out for a few markets, based on the build number alone I would say just a bump to the January security update.
Downloading now (233,4MB for customized DE)
Edit: Can confirm, it's security update 1.1.2018
Device feels a lot snapier (like scrolling etc.).
Didn't find anything new.
Can't see any difference except security updates from 1.1.2018.
BTW guys, do you use notifications "priorities" in drop-down notifications panel?
Since the start of using XZ1c I have put my monitoring app to low priority so the app's notification bar was very slim in the notifications panel.
I've done hard reset now when updating the phone and I can't see such feature any more. Did they move it somewhere or it's gone?
I'm not talking about configuring audio/vibrations - this feature it's there for apps created for Oreo - I'm talking about customizing notification bar size in drop-down notifications panel.

Try to long press mini button in notification panel, al appear a new hidden menu, should be what you are looking for
Anyone who got this update using Linux and would like to give USB-Tethering a try? I'm stuck on an old version (47.1.A.5.51) and on this one, USB tethering download speeds are terrible (lots of RX packet errors, <1Mbps download speed). This was also an issue with some OnePlus phones which was fixed with a software update, so I'm hopeful that Sony will also fix it (although seeing how the smart lock blank screen bug is still there, my hopes aren't very high)

This enables/disables UI Calibrator (addidtional submenu in System menu) but there are no options regarding notifications.
What I'm talking about is shown below. Earlier I was able to assign chosen apps (for example System Panel monitoring tool) to low priority notifications, in picture below these are Clipper+, Network Monitor and USB charging device. "Android System 2 apps are using battery" is a normal priority notification here:

This is getting really depressing; those of us using USA firmware are being treated as second-class citizens. We're still on 47.1.A.2.234 with the August 2017 security patch.

Customized DE and GEL seem to get updates even faster than CE1 from what I've seen. CE1 is still on 8.49 as of writing this, but DE and GEL are on 12.34. I'm currently running Customized UK and thinking of switching to one of those since I'm impatient.

Message app works fine. Dialer also works fine to call. The contact app crashes. But I found that if you disable the phone permission of contacts app, you can use the app. I know it beats the purpose of the app but still. You can view the details of contacts and then u can just search the contact using dialer short hand typing.

They are not working for me too. I'm Locked, unrooted.
I uninstall them. Contacts, Phone app, FC.

But unfortunately assigning a sim to a contact or group still doesn't work.

Please, Provide a suggestion to OnePlus .
Open Community app > Profile page > My feedback > click on + > Suggestion.
If they receive many, many suggestions, maybe they give us back this wonderful option.

All support on communication suite like dialer is completely stoped by OnePlus especially on the new models.
I don't care they are from google, apple... i just like "Raise to answer" option.
Hey all,
I got my Fold4 a little over a week ago. The version of Google Messages on my Fold3 has a few additional features that are missing on the Fold4. The feature with which I'm primarily concerned is the reminder function. On the Fold3 I can long press on any individual message within a conversation and a little clock appears up at the top of the app. Tapping on the clock gives me the option to schedule a reminder to respond to the message. There is no such feature available on the version of the app installed on the Fold4. Anyone else missing this? I want it back.
I could be wrong, but I think this was a Samsung Messenger feature and not Google Messages. I just tried it on my S22 Ultra and Fold 4, neither worked in in google, but the long press both worked in the Samsung app.

I'm looking at both phones right now. I appreciate the input but, yes, you're wrong.

Copy that! In all fairness, I wasn't aware that this was a feature until tonight lol. Kinda disappointed I can't get the extra features in google too.
I'm pretty sure I've figured out the explanation now, but it still doesn't make good sense. The version installed on my Fold3 is "messages.android_20220822_05_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic" whereas the version installed on my Fold4 is "messages.android_20220822_05_RC00.phone_samsung_dynamic." The menu icon has changed from the Google Account Profile icon to the typical 3 dot button. When using Messages with the phone closed (just the front cover display), the conversations are shifted down lower on the Fold4's version, making it easier to reach the top conversation without using two hands. And there are a few other minor but convenient feature changes. But none of these changes should necessitate the removal of reminders. Screenshot of the reminder button on my Fold3 is attached.

I've also noticed the fold4 specific changes. I hate the new wasted space on the contact menu. I wonder if we can install the Fold3 apk on the fold 4.

I tried and was unsuccessful. I'm sure the Samsung-specific version of the app will be updated and fixed fairly quickly. Not sure what your talking about with respect to the contact menu. What the heck is the "contact menu?" If you're simply referring to the message list on the cover screen, I think the design/layout update makes sense. I can now reach the top conversation with my thumb when using a single hand.
Yes i'm referring to the messages list. I think It is a terrible design choice to force people to only be able to see 6 text messages at start. This should be a checkbox option.
I've hadn't have any issues sending timed messages. I know in the Google Messages version, after typing out your message, press and hold down on the send arrow and it lets you set a specific time to actually send the message.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about setting reminders for individual messages within a conversation. You're talking about scheduling messages to be sent automatically at a later time.

I disagree. It's a much better design. You can easily scroll down if you want to see more conversations.

My apologies. I misunderstood. The closest thing I could find to what you are looking for is in relation to the app itself and not individual messages within the conversation....

Uninstall the app and download the Google beta version from app mirror. Done and dusted.

It has to be removed via ADB, as it's a bundled app. Admittedly, I haven't yet tried that.
Use adb appcontrol. It's free and you can just disable it. It's a windows app.
Google finally fixed this issue with the latest version of the app.
