Hi!
I just purchased a TCL 43S434 and I've been searching through the forums here learning what I can about it.
From what I can find, it sounds like firmware version V440 is the latest firmware I could find on these forums for my particular TV. The part that is confusing me is it would appear that the version I am running now is V122 (Unless I'm not reading this right), not V440. I would have expected these to be sequential, so I'm concerned I'm on a much older firmware. OTA update feature says there are no updates available for me.

What is release date of firmware ?
Android 9 ?
As per pic....V8-R51MT02-......you can install version with Android 11.
Hi @stasiof, thank you for the quick response. I was hoping you would find your way to my post as you seemed very knowledgable on the topic when I was doing some searching around.
I've attached (below) another screenshot that should hopefully answer your questions.
Can you tell me a little about what the R51MT02 relates to? Why exactly does that determine I can run Android 11? Where might one find newer firmware with say Android 11 on it? I assume on this forum somewhere.
Thank you for all your help.
Ok, let start with some history....
Previous S434 models (2020 version) has a bit different hardware inside TV.
This is how you found firmware V440.....
V8-R851T02-LF1V440.017008
Anyway ,this you can't flash ,as your is now V8-R51MT02.
I found your version and you can keep as backup....V122:
http://na-update.cedock.com/apps/resource2/V8R51MT02/V8-R51MT02-LF1V122/FOTA-OTA/V8-R51MT02-LF1V122.019313.zip
Other then this I found test version V999 dated Apr 26 2021....1.12GB
http://na-update.cedock.com/apps/resource2/V8R51MT02/V8-R51MT02-LF1V999/FOTA-OTA/V8-R51MT02-LF1V999.019587.zip
About Android 11...
Models 2021 rather then N.America version using same firmware......
V8-R51MT02 with A11.
As your model is without Dolby Vision and some other stuff, not sure how
will run on your model.

If I found other firmware, I will post here....in future.
Thanks so much for providing this extra information!
I have read through that thread you linked about the newer firmware. And I have one follow up question. After going through the thread, it appears that the latest firmware for R51MT02 is V256 (link to your post in that thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...c05-beyondtv6-beyondtv4.4255729/post-85161485)
In that post you mentioned that V256 has a build date of June 05th. and that appears to be the latest R51MT02 firmware (V8-R51MT02-LF1V256). Is there a particular reason I would want to run that V999 (build date April 26th) version you referenced instead of this V256?
Also, as a side note. It's interesting that the V256 security patch is 2020-12-05 when the security patch in my V122 is 2021-1-05. Just a curiosity.
Thanks again!
V999 posted above is Android 9 (still) test version deducated for N.America models.
V256 is Android 11 global version, bigger in zip file (200MB more) ,for wider range of TCL models with RT51M chassis (as your).
Security patch date is not so important.
If not happy ,with both, you can always flash your present version V122 back.
Edit:
If everything ok with your firmware , I will leave as it.
Can someone confirm whether IPTV applications (Smart IPTV, Timate etc) works on the V256 firmware?

nope couldn't get any firmware to work i got lucky and got a update version of the same tv on warranty
Weird question can you get HDR10+ logo to show on some stuff with this TV? It technically can't according to specs but I can get the logo instead of HDR if it's HDR10+
my new 43s434 is on V8-R851T02-LF1V449.018073 and see here 458 is the newest version but it says mine is up to date when I try network update. any idea if I can do a manual update without messing it up.

hi folks
I'm in the UK and have a number (four to be precise) of imported Fire TVs for USA.
Now that the FireTV has been released here in UK, I thought that my USA fireTVs may have automatically downloaded the UK firmware but this hasn't happened. I've tried the 'check for updates' option in the menu but that doesn't change anything either. Is there any way to force the USA fireTVs to update to the UK firmware version?

If they are rooted you should wait for a PreRooted release of that FW or you will loose root. It takes time for Amazon to cycle the new FW thru. Don't think one can force it like with other platforms.
Hi thanks for the reply. None of my imported units are rooted, I saw no need to root as all I wanted was xbmc.
Now I'd like my imported units to run the UK fimrware becuase (needless to say) it's more suitable for those living in UK.
Any ideas?
Anyone?
Thanks

U might still be able to root depending what FW they are on. But that's u'r choice. So far there has been no branching of the FW. So there is no UK/GER/US FW. All the FW is the same. The Amazon account is the main difference. That is why US accounts can trick Amazon into allowing them to download or they can sideload UK only apps & vice versa.
It takes days if not weeks for Amazon to cycle the new FW thru the whole AFTV landscape. I would say stay patient & with no Amazon IP blocking if you don't care for root. I myself will just wait for @rbox to release a PreRooted version of the same FW everybody will get (unless actively blocking updates) in good time.
Note - Rooting would give you access to the Google PlayStore without the need to sideload & USB storage. You don't loose access to anything when rooted. You only gain. I see it as Owning your AFTV vs Renting it.
Y314K my man thank you so much for this info, very useful.
Having read your last post I agree there are some uses to rooting, such as the ability to load apps directly in FTV interface (via google play) and to use USB storage.
Could you please explain the meaning of:
"with no Amazon IP blocking if you don't care for root"
and also
"wait for a PreRooted version of the same FW everybody will get"
I don't understand - thanks.
Also, there must be some kind of different firmware between countries, because the USA version doesn't allow you to change the time zone to UK time zone. I really doubt somehow that the UK fireTVs have the same restriction, surely the software on the UK fireTVs allows you to change the time zone to UK time zone! and this must be down to the firmware version...

"with no Amazon IP blocking if you don't care for root" = Using the "Method 1: Domain blocking with Router – Recommended Method" from http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-setup-a-new-fire-tv-without-blocking-root/ to block updates. To keep the FireTV from updating to a FW that is not rootable at this time. FW 51.1.1.0_user_511070220 is the last rootable FW at this time.
"wait for a PreRooted version of the same FW everybody will get" = Us that are rooted & use CWM recovery. We can still update to latest FW once RBox has release a PreRooted version of it. Which is usually a few days after Amazon releases a link for it. Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/prerooted-stock-images-t2882337 (This PreRooted FW is only for rooted FTV's & it is installed thru the CWM custom recovery...)

There is no difference within the FW about countries. Right now the discrepancy is on the version of same FW each country is on. Not on any country difference. Eventually we will all be on the same version with the same options. Amazon does not update all FTV's at once. It does it in stages.
Read the descriptions on this page on each Stock FW version - http://www.aftvnews.com/software/
51.1.3.0_user_513011820 - Most of the US FTV's if they are not blocking updates are on this FW.
51.1.3.0_user_513011520 - Germany FTV's launched with this FW but the US did not get this FW until a week(s) later. Or if I am not mistaken it skipped us all together. We got upgraded to 51.1.3.0_user_513011820.
51.1.4.0_user_514006420 - UK just launch with their FTV's on this version. Eventually the German & US FTV's will be updated to that FW too & will have the same time zone options.
It is not UK FW or GER FW or US FW. It is Amazon Fire TV FW. But we don't all get updated to the latest FW at the same time. If they find any bugs on the 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 you might get an update even before the rest of use get updated to 51.1.4.0_user_514006420. Repeat: Amazon releases the same FW to different regions in different stages.
Thanks for spending the time to provide all of this information, I now understand.
I've finally sat down to set up my UK FTV just now, it's dowloading the latest software as we speak (I have no option I must do this).

It seems AFTVNews is trying to get proof that all FW is equal here= http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/uk-german-fire-tv-software-actually-t2916979 . I think it's equal but features are dependent on the Amazon account associated with your AFTV at setup.

This screen capture proofs it. Amazon is not telling you to change FW to get FreeTime access. It's telling you to change Country in your Amazon account to get FreeTime access.... I call that corroboration :highfive:.
Shield TV 2015 (NON-PRO) Nougat update version 5.02 is live.
OTA is downloaded to the usual folder: /data/data/com.nvidia.ota/app_download
Filename: PUBLIC02360be7475c0283d8953276654991ff.zip
size: 1.03 GB (1,115,129,317 bytes)

@sammarbella
I think you have posted a wrong zip, first the size is not 1.03 gb and secondly it looks like is v5.0 instead 5.0.2
Thanks! Can anyone please post the flash instruction for this update?

Nothing wrong was posted.
It's the 5.02 (full) OTA zip file for Shield TV 2015 16 gb version, the posted size is once downloaded.
Copied from my Shield TV 2015 yesterday after it was downloaded by the OS software update service.
There is no such "5.0" for Shield TV 2015 16 gb version, the first one is this one: 5.02.
Ok, I'll check again later today, I've flashed it and I have checked the version and it was 5.0... maybe I didn't see properly

Who said that i already upgraded to Nougat?
I uploaded to MEGA the OTA file i got yesterday in my Shield TV 2015 16 GB but i didn't upgraded yet.
I'm not in a hurry to upgrade until i'm completely sure that i can update the old TWRP i have right now with the new hacked one and flash OTA and flash supersu from it without problems.
As i posted in my previous post a Nvidia rep made a sticky post announcing on Nvidia Geforce forums that the Shield TV 2015 (FINALLY) got the Nougat upgrade and labelled it 5.02 OTA upgrade and that upgrade is the one i posted.
This 5.02 OTA upgrade is pressumed to have the same fixes already added to 5.01 and 5.02 OTA fixes released for Shield TV 2017 version and therefore the proper number should be 5.02 and not 5.00 even on Shield TV 2015 16 GB.
If some Nvidia dev forgot to name the 2015 OTA properly as 5.02 (or 5.0.2) i can't help...
Hopefully for the Shield TV 2015 owners the Shield TV 2017 owners were the betatesters (5.00 and 5.01) and early adopters can skip 2 OTA versions bugs and get directly the 5.02 OTA version.
Great, many thanks!

So it is android 7.
I woke up this afternoon and i see this nice advice when i tried to watch some TV:
I checked then the downloaded OTA zip file and it's exactly the same name and size that i already uploaded to MEGA:
1,115,129,317 bytes
It's funny different file managers report the exact same size in bytes: 1,115,129,317 bytes but one (X-plore) say it's 1.04 GB and the other (Directory Opus) 1.03 GB:

I don't care if the installer says "5.0.2" and the about say "5.0" after install for my Shield TV 2015 IF we are getting the 5.01 and 5.02 bugfixes already added to Shield TV 2017 third Nougat OS version.
true ... actually the update is running fine so far , no problems founded , cheers pal !
Does anyone know if it's possible to flash this via Fastboot? I tried to downgrade a 2015 Shield TV from 5.0 to 3.3 to get DRM working again for the HDHomeRun Green app, and it won't boot now. I can get to the Fastboot menu but that's it. Of course Nvidia hasn't posted the 5.0 image for the 2015 Shield yet so I'm kind of stuck right now.
Is the 2017 firmware the same firmware that is used on the 2015 model?
My 2015 model is prompting me to update to firmware 5.02. Although mine is rooted so I don't think I can just let it update. Maybe I will just download the one from the original post. I don't see the 5.02 version available to download from their website.

You don't need the 5.0.(2) OS image if you want to downgrade to 3.3, simply flash the available 3.3.0 OS image.
Maybe you'll need the stock recovery flashed before but it's also available:

I just came here to tell you that this post saved my life twice. If you flash this with TWRP you can get your system back aftera brick. for me the nvidia method does not work, so this is the only way i managed to fix my shield. TWRP will give you erors but just reboot and you are saved.
Any chance of getting a full 5.2 image since I can't update ?
THANK YOU

I just came here to tell you that this post saved my life twice. If you flash this with TWRP you can get your system back aftera brick. for me the nvidia method does not work, so this is the only way i managed to fix my shield. TWRP will give you erors but just reboot and you are saved.
Any chance of getting a full 5.2 image since I can't update ?

I'm waiting to update my Shield TV 2015 16 GB to 5.2 , this little update is not like the full OTAs we got before (5.02/5.1).
I unlocked My Shield TV 16 GB bootloader and flashed TWRP and got root on 3.1 (MM) then it upgraded to 5.'2 and 5.1 without problem.
The 5.2 full OTA rooted image will be available soon in the Nvidia SHIELD Developer OS Images site:
https://developer.nvidia.com/shield-developer-os-images
I can wait a few days more...
Yeah, but i can't get that method to work, it tells me the data is too large when flashing system.img

Hi,
could you explain in more detail how you flashed the OTA through TWRP?
Thanks in advance!
Well, you just flash twrp and then the recovery image. You can find how to get twrp onto shield fromnvidia shield zone. It's a fan site with good tutorials.

Hmm curious, from your previous post I got the idea you had flashed the PUBLIC*.zip or some content from it inside twrp. so you are saying you took the recovery image file, flashed it as if a zip install file and it unblocked the shield, right? (just confirm if this is it and if this works you are getting a big thanks!)
Well, i flashed the link from the first post. It failed, but it fixed my shield. I wouldnt recommend doing this. It was my last ditch effort before i realized that the nvidia tutorial for recovery is wrong
Well the link submitted in this thread is for the non-pro so I can't really use it, but the method you use is interesting because it would be my only way out of the stuck nvidia logo.
My Shield Pro 2015 has been stuck in nvidia logo for a long time. I tried to throw at it all images from nvidia dev and non-dev up to 7.0.1 using the nvidia method as described in their webpage.
I get to recovery and flash successfully all files but the nvidia logo still stays. I can boot TWRP and even browse the disk contents, so I wanted to flash an OTA PUBLIC*.zip in TWRP like you did, but there seems to be none available.
I found a possible compatible file here but I have no idea if it is compatible with my shield pro and even how to flash it like you did.

Hey guardiman have you been able to fix your shield pro? If it still hasn't worked out, then maybe I know a solution. Let me know.

Hi, yuseigachi
No, I haven't. The shield is still waiting for some available time to try a hard drive replacement. The thread leading to this option is here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/help/nvidia-shield-tv-pro-2015-stuck-nvidia-t3780927
If you have an alternative option to try, I'd be more than happy to go for it
Cheers
It is think February security.

Looks like your bootloader version is 3. New one is 4. But we have you can Odin files with v4 bootloader. So I will say yes you will get ADB or Odin files to go back or update.

No future problems will there be risks to upgrade to nougat using the updated bootloader?
That is my current concern, that in the future v4 will not be able to upgrade to nougat via abd or odin (I do not know which one to choose)

V4 is current official AT&T bootloader for Note 5. You will be able to update if you are on V4 bootloader.

Only a Nandroid backup can be THAT good (on other rootable phones). With Smart Switch backups, I lose saved game data and other application data.
My device is still on CPHA or september 2016's patch. Can I go to this february update via adb sideload without updating the patch before this? I live outside US region
No. You need to update one by one

I just got this update OTA last night. This is what I was waiting for since I want to wait until the Nougat update to factory reset again. Seems good so far but haven't had it long enough to find major differences.

best way to upgrade from LMY47X.N920AUCU2APB2 to MMB29K.N920AUCS4CQA1
Hi,
Thanks a ton for the update!! I have a at&t note-5 being used on t-mobile and is currently on build number:LMY47X.N920AUCU2APB2(mar 2016 update) and I was wondering as to how to upgrade to the latest version MMB29K.N920AUCS4CQA1. Since I can't get my hands on a at&t sim I will need to update it manually. Could anybody please guide me as to what is the best way to get to the latest version. I did search the forum but there seem to multiple and sometimes confusing ways so wanted a little clarity on that. Thanks in advance!!
You can ODIN from your desktop PC directly to *****PK1
After that, you would then use ADB from your desktop PC (USB debugging enabled) to sideload the subsequent updates to your device as Nobarb suggested. However that last step would wipe your device (so a backup will be necessary).
I'm in the same boat as you are, so I'm just waiting for the next official update (or something flashable in ODIN to get me back up to date)
I opted in for the beta of A13 with my Vivo X80 Pro (Europe version).
The battery drain gets worse every week.
Now I found out that to downgrade to the stable version, I need to send the phone to VSP Data.
That is on the other side of Europe for me.
So, I want to downgrade it myself.
How to do this? Because all the tutorials I found online are outdated, incorrect or incomplete.
At the moment PD2185BF_EA_A_13.1.11.7.W30 is installed.
I did a lot of custom ROM with the HTC HD2, Samsung S3 and Xioami's before. But cant get this simple downgrade to go
Who can guide me with a complete tutorial and working drivers (for Windows 11 Enterprise)?
If you have the Mediatek version, you may have some luck experimenting with mtkclient. We do such downgrades on 1+ Nord2 without bootloader unlock, so it might be possible to do something similar here as well.
If you don't think you have the chops to figure it all out, wait till somebody with your device does though.
The EU version (W30) is the Snapdragon variant.
Welp, if the official instructions don't work for you (people have mixed success with it), you're indeed hosed and you'll have to send it in.
I suggest going to the service center if there is one in your country. They can downgrade it there.
Or just wait until stable or more capable beta versus on of A13 is up.
Sorry if someone already mentioned this but have you tried the Vivo downgrader computer application? It's the only thing that let me downgrade. I do have the Chinese version though so I am not sure if it only works on that.

This looks to be a Chinese program.
I'm afraid it will brick my phone since my ROM is EU and not Chinese.

Does Vivo not have service in your country? I also tried donwgrade, but unfortunately I didn't find any working tools, ROMs, or procedure....
I have the same FW version as you and I have no battery problem. Check your apps. Often some update with gplay fails and then there is excessive consumption.
How about this?

Ahhh I'm on Chinese version of the phone. Origin OS.
So... it gets even worse.
UK site has a newer version of A12 (PD2185F_EX_A_12.0.14.1.W30.V000L1) of the 16th of December.

And the 'local upgrade' function on the phone worked. (for the first time of all the tries).
But after the restart, it said the upgrade failed because the installed version is newer.
