Front camera failure when installing a ROM - Realme X Questions & Answers

I have a mobile that its version is China. With which I was having a lot of problems with Google services. So I have decided to put a ROM in it. The ROM that I have put is AncientOS that is in the xdadeveloppers forum. My mobile is a Realme X (RMX1901). The fact is that everything was perfect, I followed all the steps, and I was happy because everything was working perfectly but the front camera has stopped working like that from one day to the next without any sense. It has not taken any blow, nor has anything happened, the camera is retractable and it does the effect of opening but then the camera or any application that has a camera such as Instagram or WhatsApp does not work. I've tried other ROMs and it doesn't seem to work either. I do not know what to do, I am very lost and that is why I seek help in case it happened to you with another mobile and what I should do.
Any comments are welcome, thanks really

[Q] How do I fix Epic 4g Camera?

Hello guys, I just recently rooted my android phone and I installed a custom rom (Nebula 1.0.7) However whenever I use any video messaging app (Yahoo, Qik, and Fring) I notice that my camera is always sideways and I appear the same way towards the other guy. My front camera would always appear to be sideways even if I were to rotate my phone.
I never had this problem before, is there any way to 'mirror' my camera so that it would look upright?
Any help would be very appreciated
Same thing here. I don't think there is a fix for this until we get the official froyo.
Thats quite a shame, I wonder why they can't seem to fix it.
No matter ,its hardly a issue
Yeah I know. It does suck. First time I updated to froyo and saw that I was like wtf? Lol.
Sent from my Evo Killer!!!
I had the same issue running stock DK28. Sometimes it would rotate correctly, others not. I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Its Screen Rotation Lag.....I believe? I have been trying to fix that for a month or so myself to no avail. Its just a matter of time and a fix will become available. (Froyo/NebulaROM7Sisters-Ext4CWM3)
I think I found the Fix, Download spare parts from the Market. Open it, in the section marked transitions....set that to fast. I just tried it and cleared up all lag for me.

You're. Thinking of something completely different. Its video chat he's. Taklking about
sent from my Epi[demi]c:-D
I use oovoo and it works very well. I know it's a hassle downloading yet another video chat program but it's quite a bit smaller than Yahoo! video and actually works better.
You can video chat from phone to computer, phone to phone, etc.

[Q] Android Revolution HD 4G 7.0.4 Problem

First of all, I apologize if this was answered already, but the dev thread has nearly 7000 pages and i didnt find it in the last 50 I looked through so i thought ill ask directly.
I installed the Revolution HD 7.0.4 onto my HTC Desire HD, and well it works great, thank you developers for making it ^^. However I have two small issues.
1) Is the whenever I try to change sounds for notifications I get com.htc.sdm crashing, it works ok on ringtones, but with the notification ones it dies right away, im not really bothered about fixing this if someone could suggest an App that does the equivalent job. I did trying to do the reset sounds to default HTC i saw in some places, but the problem persists.
2) This one is a bit more irritating one and id like to fix it. The default gallery app seems to be missing entirely, i dont entirely mind using a custom gallery app, however i do use my phone for photos a lot, and the button in the corner of the camera app, the one that should open the gallery, does not respond to custom ones, not the ones i tried at least, so I would like to shove the default gallery app back in so it responds properly, so if anyone could point me to a link for that, i would be extremely grateful.
Sorry once more if these have been asked already, i tried my best to seek out the answer before asking.
Thank you.
Hello all and first of all Happy Birthday Mike.
I have a small problem with the camera crash.
the camera works fine but no video.
When I stop the video, I have a stop message com.android.camera (sudden closure of the camera application).
I'm reinstalled (with a super wipe) but nothing works.
Thank you in advance for your reply.
cordially
nicus
Hello to all.
First of all I want to say that the new version 6.4 is 7.1 is very good, but I noticed several things:
First, the radio version is more efficient than the version 6.X of the 7.X.
Then the camera is still not fixed on version 7.1 for video (I read the 6985 pages of the topic and try everything but nothing works).
I therefore expect the surprise Mike: "There are not much bigger fixed Because something might come in the near future." (Post No. 69783 of the topic).
For I have not yet reaches my 10 posts, I bore you a little here

Evo 4g w/CM 7 and FFC apps

Hi, new here, not new to flashing ROMs though. I've always been able to figure out my problems out on my own or through intensive searching. Today is not the case, hence joining the forum. One of the main reason's I activated this phone recently was to voice chat with Google Hangouts and I was already paying the extra $10 a month for sprint's data usage on my previous "dumb" phone. Everything worked fine on the stock rom, I just wanted more out of the phone.
I have a Sprint HTC Evo 4g. It has hboot 2.18 so I unlocked it through htcdev. Rooted it with s-on and installed Cyanogenmod. I want to retain all the phone's capabilities so I went with the stable 7.2 after learning the drivers for 4g and the FFC aren't supported after gingerbread. All the cameras work as they should in the stock loaded camera app. I update Google talk to hangouts and when I try to use video chat, I get "Camera error." I attempted to use Tango, and the front facing camera doesn't start up either. Audio works fine for both apps. My next steps included trying CM 7.2 nightly and CM7.1; I got the same error. Through further research I found a gapps package with Google Talk with video. Updated this to hangouts, got the same error. Uninstalled the updates and tried the video chat; it worked to my surprise however, I cannot video chat with anyone who has updated to hangouts only with the original Talk app.
I've searched and searched and found references to the problem with no solution. One source even mentioned the newer apps are not compatible with some older roms, but this didn't make sense to me since everything worked on the stock 2.3.5 rom. I found one instance of a solution but the source for the fix is no longer in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22735475&postcount=989
Any advice? Any way to log when the front camera fails? I really want to stick with a stable rom, preferably CM.
Just tried the Thundershock rom and I get the same error... I'm wondering if I should just chalk it up to the apps not supporting older roms. OR, I'm flat out missing something....

Bump.
Still no luck with CM7. I tried Digital Karma V9 and the camera works in Hangouts, but Hangouts fails to load (force close error) after I do anything else on the phone after a fresh reboot.... CaptainThrowback's rooted stock rom works perfectly, but the rom is lacking in customization. I'm guessing I could mod it to my taste but I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to this whole ordeal. Only in a perfect world, I can have everything, huh?
For now, I have opted to go with CM 7.2 until I can play different ROMs some more. I may not have any time this weekend like the past weekend so I just need a basic functioning phone for the time being...

Running Classic rom with some success as long as I don't reboot the phone. Otherwise I get the same error as in DigitalKarma. Simple fix is to uninstall and reinstall the Hangouts update. Not a Sense fan though...
Still un-answered...
Well, I've went with Skype (modified by theoso) on CM7.2 since it seem to be the only ROM to really cater to me. ADW launcher, absolutely stripped down, etc. Skype works as a compromise to ROM choice and Hangouts. I'd say I'm happy to have something rather than nothing. Especially for a phone whose forum support is a thing of the past.

[Q] Looking for data on stability of major ROMS

Is there any good data on which of the major ROMs are most trouble free?
I am a pretty simple guy. All I really want is to be able to use my phone as a hotspot, take pictures without the camera app crashing and easy access to turn the torch on and off. Seems like a lot of the reviews spend a lot of time focusing on how many colors you can change and relatively little on the actually reliability of the ROM. This sort of leaves us asking eachother and it seems like everyone and their brother has an opinion on how stable any given ROM is and all swear by different ones.
At any rate, this just leaves me wondering if there is actually any good reviews or sources that summarize what the weeknesses of each ROM are. I know it is a tricky thing to ask, because they are always changing with each nightly build, but I have been pulling my hair out for the last couple years trying to find a properly stable ROM for my T999.
They cant really review stability and functionality on some roms, such as CM for example. Its going to be different for every model device, and even between 2 identical model devices you will still find one has issues while another does not. Thats why they usually stick to reviewing features and options. But also, what works best will vary from person to person even more so than from one device to the next. As is stated in all the "what's the best rom" threads, only you can determine what suits your needs best.
But for what its worth, imo, if its stability you're after, stick to whatever the manufacturer included on any given device.

I would stick with the stock rom, but I just really don't like it. I have also gotten very used to using a more stock version of Android and don't want to have to adjust back to using the stock rom, even if there are ways to get tethering to work.

What don't you like about the stock ROM? You say you want simple and don't care about changing anything, but you're not happy with stock either. What do you really want? lol. Also note, than any other ROM is not going to have the Samsung camera app, they are all going to be a lot more basic camera's, no wifi calling if you use that t-mo feature.
Torch on and off can be accessed with a shortcut on stock ROM, any third party app that lets you add a widget, or if you install xposed framework, you can add torch to the volume up button, so you can turn the torch on without even waking the phone. I'm with Doc, I'm a Touchwiz kind of guy too. I don't get the hate for it.
I just don't like some of the extra junk Samsung adds on. I like a more stripped down vanilla Android. I originally switched yo get rid of sVoice in particular and just got used to it. Not needing extra apps for WiFi tethering is a nice bonus.
At any rate. Just totally wiped the phone back to stock with Odin and installed the latest AOKP. No problems yet.
You can strip the Samsung apps out, and there is mods to enable native tethering.. But aosp or the kind is a nice option as well, just depends on what you want and need

Thinly veiled best ROM thread. SlimKat with Banks' minimal gapps.
I don't use my S3 anymore, but I have that ROM on it and my other two devices. It is filed under d2lte on their site, it's a unified build.
If you have kernel problems, use ktoonsez'. That one was always really solid.

LOL. Totally not meant to be a best ROM thread. Just wanted to know if anyone was tracking reliability or issues common to the different ROMs in a way that was easy to sift through and not totally anecdotal.

I never figured out what was causing problems with my last ROM. TBH, I don't even recall what the kernel and ROM combination was. It was just something some random XDA forum member suggested. The biggest issue is that every time I opened the camera app, went away from it and came back, it would crash. Also happened when switching between camera and video. Sometimes it would require a system reset to get the camera back. I think it was something to do with the app itself, cause other apps that took pictures never had any problems. Super annoying. There were some other issues to. I stuck it out for a long time because the app fixed a BT audio issue I was having and I was too lazy to do more searching or reflashing my phone from scratch.
Right now I am just trying to make my phone last until the Sony Z3 launches. I am pretty sure that will be my next phone. Hopefully it won't cost a crazy amount to import it if t-mobile doesn't get it right away.

AOSP camera was always crap in general but especially so on the S3.
You can get an updated on in the play store now, so you can freeze the AOSP one.

The camera in the latest AOKP was working fine, but I downloaded the Google Camera app just to check it out. Works fine taking normal pictures, but the blur mode causes it to crash when you try to take a picture and the panorama/photosphere modes won't take pictures. I found some other people with identical problems, but didn't see a clear solution.

It was originally for the Nexus 5, then they put it on the play store for everyone. Clearly issues with non Google devices.
I'd suggest a third party camera app, like Camera ZOOM or something.

Google Camera app for kitkat custom roms

Google Camera app for kitkat custom roms of redmi 1S
Google Camera:http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-2-4-024-1564481-30-apk/
tested working on mokee and cm11..
The Good:
Okay so here’s what I liked.
Panorama Mode, Lens Blur Mode, and Photosphere Mode are really fun and easy to use. The camera guides you to taking really good pictures and although rendering and processing take a while, the results usually look quite nice.
The interface is simple and easy to use. You’re never more than a swipe or a click away from pretty much anything in the app. Switching modes is as simple as sliding the options out and clicking on them. The quick settings, accessing the gallery, and pretty much everything is right there just off screen for easy access.
It does what it says it does. All the features worked as intended. I personally didn’t experience any crashes or issues. Once you learn how the various modes work, there shouldn’t be any problems using them.
There are little design things that are pretty fun. The dual line zoom meter bar thing is fun to use and when you’re in video mode, it’ll try to get you to shoot in landscape mode by using a spinning icon. You can still shoot in portrait mode but let’s face it, no one likes it when people shoot in portrait mode and it appears as though Google is trying to remind people of that.
The bad:
And here’s the bad.
Its simplicity is its greatest strength but also its greatest weakness. If you’re used to the more complicated settings of other camera apps, then this is going to feel a little bit lacking for some people. You can’t adjust ISO, white balance, there are no filters, and there are no features like image stabilization. It’s really pretty basic stuff.
Some people have already begun complaining of various bugs. There isn’t a single bug that’s affecting everyone but little things that are affecting people. One such experience that I’ve heard a few times is the app crashing when using Lens Blur mode. A second is a lack of HDR on a lot of devices. I haven’t had any of these issues but they apparently exist depending on your device and version of Kit Kat.
My last problem is the lack of options when it comes to storage. If you have a device that has an external SD card, you can’t use it for storage. In fact, you can’t change the storage location at all. This is likely because of the Kit Kat SD card limitation problem that a lot of people don’t like so I hope your internal memory card has enough space because that is where your photos are going.
