So, I've done a decent bit of research and can't seem to find any solid answers or solutions.
I'm trying to Unlock my bootloader, root my device, and install a custom recovery but I literally can't get past the first step. I've done quite a bit of developing and rooting in the past and have never had this much trouble before. I can't get OEM Unlocking to appear in y developer options. I've tried the date trick by removing the sim card, setting the date back a month and checking for updates, restarting the phone and then setting the date back to once more check for updates and it still won't appear. I'm really not sure what to do at this point and I've searched the rest of the forums but can't seem to find an answer. Everyone just says "Make sure OEM Unlocking is on", but I can't turn it on if it's missing and won't appear...
Here are the specs on my device and it's version:
Model #: SM-S506DL
Hardware version: A505U.05
Android version: 10
Carrier: StraightTalk/Tracfone

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by starting a new thread on this topic but I actually feel quite desperate haha.
My situation is I had a Orange branded HTC Desire and got fed up of the not being able to use GTalk and the Orange branded apps. I read a little bit about rooting and flashing and felt I had enough knowledge to go ahead.
I created a Gold card and then followed the "How To: Root the HTC Desire" on unlockr. After I did this I got "Sim Locked" so I tried to install a custom ROM, I've installed a few different ROMs with no success.
At the current moment it seems my phone is running on the basic Andriod OS which has superuser permissions but still has the "SIM network unlock PIN" (which can be dismissed).
I'm completely lost on how to remove the network lock, I've read different things in different places and I felt signing up and actually asking was my best option.
Thank you, any help is appreciated!
You have two options:
1: Flash the older radio version that came with your phone. This will work fine with all 2.1 (eclair) based roms. You won't be able to run most of the new 2.2 based roms as they seem to be requiring the very latest radio.
2: get an unlock code from htcsimunlock.com or similar. This only needs to be done once and is what I did (same boat!). Then you'll be able to run the latest roms. Costs about 15 quid.

Ok.. I have a T-Mobile Note 3 now… and I am trying to root it… expected it to be easy, after dealing with my AT&T note 3 with its lockedboot loader!!!!
...not so much…
SO… two problems so far:
The instructions I am finding tell me to “turn off ‘Reactivation lock’ feature is turned off under Security Settings.
….and I can not find that setting !!
Second problem:
The problem I am having is that one of the first things I need to do is figure out my “AP Version”, and the instructions I am finding to do so is to dial *#1234# on my phone.
Unfortunately, what I get when I do that is: First it says “USSD CODE RUNNING” and then it says “unable to process request”
Is there any other way to get this information?
Thank you for any help!!

What ??? What guide are you trying to follow? Please post link as i would like to see this.
1. Settings>General>Security make sure reactivation (like 4th option down) is unclicked. If it is set, you did this when you first set up your phone.
2. Don't know why you need AP information. There is absolutely "NO" need for this in the rooting process.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you are running a brand new Note 3 from the store running JellyBean 4.3. The first post in this thread is the FAQ's . The second Question gives you links on how to root your phone. That's pretty much all you need to do. CF_Auto root is a 30 sec rooting process using a windows computer. Root De La Vega will root your phone also, but is no longer support by the developer.
"reactivation issue"

Hi!
Thank you for your help!!
I think I might be being too paranoid... but I am trying to do this very carefully, so that I do not brick my phone... and it is difficult when things do not line up.
I just bought THIS note 3 used, and factory reset it. I took three screen shots.. one showing the "about" screen... the other two showing all the options under "security"... none of which mention "reactivation"
I performed a hard reset on the phone just before I did this, incase the re was other stuff done to it before.
Am I missing something?
Thank you for any help!!

So frustrated!!!
Ok... I am SOOOOOooooo FRUSTRATED right now!!!!
EVERYTHING I try to do not working... and by not working, I mean that I look up oning, find detailed instructions, and the the instructions tell me to change settings that do not exist on my phone, tell me download specail files based on the version that is on my phone, and I can not figure it out,
...and the latest: I noticed that I can not get software updates (it says s "custom updates not available...") I do some research, and it looks like I should check to see if my knox counter has been triggered (I did buy this phone used.. so who knows...)
I follow the online instructions .. it goes to recovery booting".. and NO mention of knox... or what the knox status is.
WTF?!? I am not a software engineer,,, but I *HAVE* rooted phones before... and epic 4g, S3, and note 2 ... and NEVER have I had this much trouble!?!?!?!
What am I doing wrong??

Lol. no worries my friend. reactivation is a feature on int roms. not TMO roms.
go to the Android Development thread and follow the EASY STEPS thread to root your phone and upgrade to 4.4
I'm trying to figure out what my options are with regards to Wi-Fi and data plans for the Tab 3 T217S that I picked up secondhand. I've read through dozens of posts and hundreds of threads on here and in other forums, and what I'm finding is that there is either no information, or more often than not, conflicting opinions on what is and is not possible. Hopefully someone with development knowledge or personal experience can point me in the right direction.
Here's my devices info:
Software/Baseband version: T217SVPUBNH4
Hardware version: T217S.04
Model number: SM-T217S
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0-1715729
Build number: KOT49H.T217SVPUBNH4
Misc.: Rooted w/TWRP
Really the only thing I want is to be able to connect to Wi-Fi whenever I want (not just at school, home or the nearest Starbucks). It would also be nice to get rid of the previous owner’s info from the status screen (username and phone number). Sprint won't sell me a SIM card because the device is tied to a delinquent account. I couldn't figure out what the Sprint hotspot/LTE hack was supposed to do or how it worked, not to mention the last time I checked it was limited to 4.2.2. I'd love to use the T-Mob Walmart plan, but they haven't updated their devices to KitKat yet, and near as I can tell you can't downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 because of the locked bootloader (whatever that is). So what options are left? I'm open to suggestions and if needed testing.

Take out the Sim card and throw it away, then go into tarp and do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, then reboot. His info should be gone and you should be able to use a T-Mobile Sim.

I wish it was that simple. I did it again just to be sure, and I get the same results as before. Invalid Sim and the previous owners info is still there. Any other ideas?
Clarification...
Based off everything I have read, the general consensus is that at this time you cannot downgrade from 4.4.2 (T217SVPUBNH4) to 4.2.2 (T217SVPUAMH9 or T217TUVUAML1) at this time on the Tab 3. Is this correct?
Ive been rooting since my old Samsung Galaxy 4 using very early versions of Cyanogenmod, Towelroot, Odin and other tools. As recent as this summer I took my older Samsung Tab A while in quarantine and while using TWRP I flashed it and put Leneage on it and love it.
I have an old Verizon Google Pixel XL 2 I want to unlock, root, and repurpose. Here are the hardware details -
- Taimen:11/RP1A.201005.004.A1/6934943
- Android 11 security update Oct 5 2020
- Serial, IMEI and other data available upon request on a case by case basis
I have tried everything I could find on XDA and I find myself the victim of every dead end possible all leading back to the OEM unlocking refusing to stay enabled. Without getting too tl:dr, I've tried all the fastboot this, and critical that, and nothing. I made sure it's fully factory reset with no sim card as well as skipping all the setup prompts to include no pin codes, biometrics, or Google accounts. Wifi is off, Bluetooth is off, usb debugging on, and the latest drivers, OTA img, the latest platform-tools, and the latest version of Android Studio.
The furthest I've been able to get is by using
Code:
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.phone
to enable OEM unlocking for a brief time before it goes back to being shaded out.
I'm leaving no rock unturned.
I can fill in any details and answer virtually any question clearly and with as much detail is requested. I'm not some kid or out-of-touch novice who's unable to answer basic questions or pay the respect to follow up. I didn't want to hijack other posts as it's a personal pet peeve of mine and hope others do the same for this post. I'm humbly asking for some assistance realizing what I don't know but can't figure out what I need to know.
Whatever support I receive I shall pay it forward within XDA.
Thank you!
No consistently successful method of bypassing the locked bootloader on a Verizon Pixel 2 XL has been found in the nearly four years this device has been around. There have been scattered reports of success, but most of those were due to an exploit discovered in an old version of the bootloader that has long since been patched.
You have done everything you could, and everything that anyone else with a Verizon device with a still-locked bootloader has done. Unfortunately, they've hit the same brick wall you have, and there is no way we know of to get past it.
So, after downloading 100 files and extracting 100 files I finally realized thanks to the wonderful gents over here at XDA that my A716U has a locked bootloader, After shredding everything I own, I decided to cool off and write to my fellow mod fans and see what my options are....
To keep it short, my smart idea to keep my OEM Unlocking ticked while tethering on my A716U has left me frantic my identity will now be slashed all over the dark web after I realized the constant battery draining and unknown apps being installed on my device have been the sole reason of my frustrations with my A716U. I've tried factory reset both from the settings and in recovery mode, no security app seems to fully delete the malware files and after time the problem persists.
I'm really not looking to root my phone and only wanted to give it a fresh wipe and start from scratch without the havoc I've had to deal with recently on my device, If someone could please assist me in possibly getting this matter resolved without having to fork over the funds to unlock the bootloader with the DID number I have read about. Your efforts would be more then appreciated. I hate to add to my dilemma, but before I get rapped on forum talk let me just say ahead of time that I'm a fresh newbie to this tech, but can understand common sense when it comes to understanding how to follow directions, just bare with me on the sam2021 lingo if I may ask in advance? Thanks guys!

Question, I have a unlocked A716U1 5G phone, would this mean that the phones boot loader is not locked, the phones OEM is unlocked as well, if so what's the next in rooting my phone? I really would appreciate some clarity .

Unlocked firmware does not mean bootloader unlocked. In order to root you will have to unlock bootloader.
