I just noticed after a week of playing with Xiaomi.EU, MiuiMix and EliteRom all based on the official China rom that I cannot send SMS text messages.
I've been using WhatsApp so I have not noticed until yesterday, I tried turning disabling/turning off both VOLTE and VoWifi, I've also tried turning off Google Chat features ( I had to revert back to Global to do so) and when I revert back to Global SMS messages seem to work just fine.
Any help would be highly appreciated, I want to stay on Xiaomi.EU/MiuiMix if possible, but I cannot have a phone that cannot send SMS messages.

Maybe something you debloated block the SMS usage?
Nope, fresh installs of Xiaomi.EU and MiuiMix.
Found it it's carrier thing with custom roms, Global rom works fine.
I'll have to see if I can switch to a working carrier or else I'll just have to switch back to Global rom.
Are you using the default app, or something else like Google messages? Getting network not available message? If using something else you need to check the permissions, and set them to allow instead of ask each time.
Used both default Messages App (Xiaomi) and Messages by Google, same results.
I double checked permissions properly, not even going to bother trying another carrier.
Someone on Xiaomi.EU forum recently posted the same problem in the Toronto area with one of the bigger carriers (FIDO).
I reverted back to Global, installed root and everything working fine.
I'm going to miss Xiaomi.EU a lot, been using it for 3 years on my Mi Pad 4 (Wi-Fi only).
I found some solutions to get the Xiaomi launcher, phone, messages and other Chinese Xiaomi apps to work on Global with root.
I think I'll be just fine, of course I can't do anything about the extra settings and features found on Xiaomi.EU rom.
Thank you to everyone who tried to help out.
I don't think that's a xiaomi.eu fault. I'm using the stable 12.5.4 version and I can send SMS.. Never had issues with it..

Are you in Toronto too?
On Global rom if I turn off chat features and just go on SMS same issue, as stated above it's a carrier thing.
Edit:
I figured it out, it's my sim card or account. Something is wrong with it not allowing me to use SMS at all.
I got a hold of my friend's sim using the same carrier inserted into my phone and SMS works fine, when we insert my sim into his phone and can't send SMS.
I'll be callling them tomorrow to have this fixed and going back on Xiaomi.EU!
I got it fixed, apparently my SMS service number was set wrong. I don't recall ever changing it though.
Gave likes to everyone who replied to the thread (rationally of course) regardless if I agree or not with their solution.
Thanks again guys.
Do some research on MiuiMix and decide if you would still use it. (Privacy concerns)

Hey guys….I can receive SMS and MMS messages and emails. Everything is working great. Except…i cannot send SMS/MMS messages…..
Anyone see this before?
Are you using the stock Messaging app?
I'm having problems with some 3rd party options and working with a dev on it right now.
Edit: The obvious thing to check would be your APN configuration.
What carrier you on?
Have you registered your phone with your carrier? I reckon my carrier (Vodafone PT) won't recognize the Oppo, so i might have to go to a Vodafone shop and have that sorted out, i want my 4G LTE.

Thanks Guys....I was using the 8SMS messaging app from KitKat. That was the problem. The issue went away when I switched back to the stock messaging app....
Thanks for all the help!
Hah yep, 8sms no go for me either.
I've spoken with a dev and sent them a logcat of the issue, hopefully they can make some headway.
I finally found Textra works great and HIGHLY recommend over stock Messages app. Give it a shot if not already familiar.
I have a question. I'm on Vodafone PT with a data plan. When i receive my Find 7a, will it work flawlessly with the carrier? I mean, 4G speeds out of the bat, MMS and SMS, etc? Or will i have to go to the carrier to sort it out. It's because, with all these threads on different forums about carrier issues i became really confused.
I can recieve messages but my problem is I cant send messages
Hi guys. I know this is not Note 10 specific but it's great news nonetheless. Someone figured out how to activate RCS messaging and it works. ?
For those who don't know what RCS is, it's basically like iMessage for Android.
Here is the 9 to 5 Google article: https://9to5google.com/2019/10/26/enable-rcs-android-messages/
And here is a tutorial from Jeff Springer over on YouTube:
Spread the news guys it should work on any Android phone carrier. I'm currently in Canada and got it to work.
Enjoy?
confirm, working :good: :good:
Got it working on my Verizon note 10+
I got it working too...I think. Don't know anyone else with it haha
configured as well on my ATT Note 10+; however, replies to group messaging arrived as separate (or new) text messages and not part of the group. Fix for me was to disable the option to "Use WiFi data for messaging when available". Anyone else experience similar behavior? Thanks.

True lol
Works in Malaysia too. But no one here is using it.
Couldn't activate it here in Iran
Stuck in verifying my phone!
Edit: nope it's working and connected!
But no one is using it
I was able to do it on my Samsung-direct unlocked SD Note 10+ on T-Mobile, but when I restarted my phone later it went away and isn't coming back even when replicating the steps. It now says your carrier doesn't support this feature when I go into the Message app settings. I have the Carrier Settings app downloaded from Play Store as well.
Got it connected here. Followed the directions but had some issues with the phone number verification stage. Disabling wifi and trying again helped.
I am not sure if it is actually working though. Every message I send is either a sms or mms, even if I send it back to myself. At least one of my friends it should be going through as a chat message.

You can't send to yourself. Just ask your friend to enable it.
why is all this hype about the RCS? we already have tons of instant messaging apps (most importantly WhatsApp) that surpass the RCS in many ways.
From Romania and got it to work ! N976B
Weird.. I'm on T-Mobile and it's been working for me up to this point.. Now things are being sent as SMS all of a sudden. Still shows as connected though.. Weird..
Never mind.. My buddy I was messaging must be having issues. He's on Sprint but has been able to use RCS without any hacks and using the default Samsung Messaging app .. Weird.
so you never had it before? I had this since the start of the year. My son's Note 9, my wife's and daughter's S10 and my N10+ has this without jumping through those hoops. Just download google messages, it gives an option for RCS and that's it.
All our phones are unlocked Snapdragons so I'm not sure if that matters but you all should just download the google messages app first before doing all that crap for RCS.
I tried it and it worked on my Note 10+ but for some reason my son using his iphone 11 Pro Max couldn't send me any pictures through text and wasn't receiving any i sent.. I switched back to the stock Samsung message app and we could both send and receive txt and pictures?? I'm guessing AT&T has setup as I can send a txt to my buddy using my Note 10+ and I believe he has Galaxy s10 and using the stock messaging app I can see when its delivered, read, and when he types..
Working for me. But I got nobody use it with so far

Thanks, even if a would rather have RCS with the native app.
For some reason for the life of me I can't get this to work. Anybody have any tips or tricks. I have read the instructions over and over again and still can't get it to work.
after set up and working, can activity launcher be uninstalled?
Hi guys, since I updated (at least I noticed after I updated) my ONEPLUS 7T to latest beta 5, I can't send sms. I tried use messanger etc as default sms app but nothing works I also tried change my sim settings. At the end I tried to contact my carrier but they told me that's unusual situation and will have to talk to technician to fix it if its sim error.
Has nothing to do with OB5. SMS works fine for me!
Thanks for your reply, I will contact again with my carrier
SMS works for me on OB5 using Google Messenger
Works fine for me. Using Textra.
So I have had my Red Magic 5G Pulse Version for two weeks now and I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue when it comes to group messaging with this phone.
It might be hard to explain, but whenever my friends start a group chat, my phone number appears on in the group list, which isn't correct since the group list should only be showing my friends and not my phone number. Whenever I try to send a message within that group chat, my message ends up showing up twice on my screen, one from me and one from my separate phone number, causing two version of my messages to appear. Apparently, the second message only appears for me and not my friends. I also do not get any issues when I try to start a group chat with my friends, as my phone number does not appear separately within the list of users when I create the group. This only happens when a friend starts the group chat.
I have tried multiple things in an attempt to fix the situation. I have tried resetting the data and cache for my messenger app. I have tried resetting the phone number within the messenger app. I have tried factory resetting my phone. Nothing has worked to fix the double text message issued.
Big thing to note that I previously used a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite as my phone and have been using an AT&T prepaid sim card with that phone. I never had any issues with group texts using that phone. The issue only started when I transferred my sim card from my Mi A2 Lite to this new Reg Magic 5G. I may have reason to believe that the sim card or my service with AT&T is causing these issues, and I will try and see if they can help me out here, but I am curious to know if any Red Magic 5G users are having this issue with group texting. Last thing to note: I am using the default Google messaging app that comes with the phone.

Are you using Google messages or some other app? I tried to create a group conversation in Google messages. And checked group info and I was not there. Only 3 of the other member showed. So I could not reproduce the issue you mentioned.

I can confirm I don't have the issue in NA rom. Atleast not in 8-128 black model. Probably it's only in pulse?
Edit: I don't have rcs so probably rcs is the issue?

Oh, I never even heard about RCS until now, so that may be a possibility. I will turn off the chat features and test my group chats again.

I don't think it's a good idea. Your chat features work based on rcs. Else they will just be sms and you will be charged a lot. Don't do that.

Well, what else would you suggest? I have tried mostly everything else at this point.

I am sorry I really don't have a solution. If you are ok with spending some money. You could disable chat features and reset the messages app and create a new group then test sms once to confirm if the rcs is the issue. Then maybe send a bug report to Google. Other than that I really don't know what can be done.

Yeah, well I should be okay in that regard, since my prepaid service at least comes with unlimited texting. I only have some data to work with but for the sake of testing, I should be fine.

Bumping this. I got my phone back and even with the new update from Nubia, I am still having trouble with group texting.
This thread topic is basically what I have been dealing with. https://support.google.com/messages/thread/977504?hl=en
I have tried multiple things in an attempt to fix the issue, and from the looks of things that it seems to be a device/software issue, which wouldn't be much of a surprise since the software for this phone is pretty terrible.
Might just be your sim card. I get double messages when my sim is near death.
I got the Pixel 6 Pro yesterday and today I suddenly stopped receiving SMS through T-Mobile. I kept getting a "SIM card cannot be used. Use the Unlock Device app." Talked to customer service and they reset my network connection, gave me a new SIM card, I erased network/SIM settings on phone and even did a factory reset and nothing. I was able to access the internet and make and receive calls and even send texts but I just couldn't receive them. I had been texting myself for 10 hours. Finally, I gave up and put the new SIM back into my S21 and I got all the messages the Pixel couldn't receive. I don't know if I just got a bad unit but keep an eye out!
Running dual sim and no problem here.
I'm running an unlocked P6P on TMobile using esim. Have no problem with text messages. Maybe try using esim
I had an issue with getting sms on mine. I had just switched my second sim to esim but sms was still going to my old phone. I disabled chat features in the messaging app and that seemed to work for me. Wondering if you maybe are having the same issue?

Sign into your account and select the change sim option on the right and follow the instructions. When you get to the scanning the QR code portion, you can Google search it.

I have just left mine off, it happens when you switch phones, some kind of random bug if you swap sim card with chat activated, the new phone doesn't activate it properly, you can send but not receive. It happened with my pixel 5 as well, Vodafone engineers had a look in to it when I complained to them, then after about a week I got an text saying welcome to chat features and it started working again. But I am leaving chat turned off, as don't trust it.
Make sure chat features are disabled on the OLD phone first, then enable them on the Pixel 6 Pro. I've seen issues on Verizon if this is not done.
Anybody find a fix? I have tried switching to eSIM, disabled RCS and resetting but still no SMS/MMS. What's weird is that SMS/MMS worked fine for the first week or 2 with the phone, then one day boom it's gone lol.
