A70 gmail - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone.
Quick question regarding A70 - (SM-A705FN Knox secure).
I had this phone on the side and pretty much don't remember any credentials for gmail or unlock pattern.
I'm not that familiar with ROM / recovery and other tools but I've been reading up a bit from what I've found.
Now all of the 'customizations' I found, expect you to be already in the phone and do some settings there, for example in the developer are, etc. but I can not reach this point, since i'm on a fresh setup screen.
(TLDR) Is there a way for me to bypass FRP?
I don't care if it ends up with a custom ROM afterwards as long as I can get the phone to work again. But I would prefer the original stock one with just new user credentials.
Thank you very much.

[Q][P] Using encryption on your tablet

Hello!
I'd really like to use encryption on my tablet on a custom ROM but am failing spectacularly. Neither on Schischu's Lollipop nor on Schischu's Marshmallow ROM my encryption attempts were successful.
As nobody answered to my posts at all, I am starting to wonder if encryption is used by anybody on our P605. So I'd like to setup this poll to get a rough overview about the use cases of people and understand if it's simply my fault or if this feature is not used and therefore not tested.
Of course, I'd be happy to read some comments below if somebody made it working on a custom ROM (like Schischu's) how this was achieved.

Hi,
The fault does not lie with you. I havn't checked encryption on the note 10.1 2014 custom roms but I did check it out on the Note 4 forums. And all the custom roms that I've come across there don't support encryption, either because the dev's don't view it as important (because no one uses it) or because it's see as secondary compared to speed and battery life.
It's a pretty dangerous game to play without encryption, knowing that the lock screen is so easy by-passable. I was able to flash TWRP and root the note 4 without the device auto wiping user data. So e.g. flashing a custom rom onto the device in order to bypass the lockscreen, and therefore being able to access all the person's personal data and apps is pretty much childsplay for a person that's the least bit into tech.
Sad to hear that, but thank you very much for taking your time to post a reply! :good:

Indeed - a mobile device is lost or even stolen quite fast. And since we already use custom ROMs and TWRP it's trivial to just access the data via ADB. *sigh* Well, I'm even thinking about going back to a rooted stock ROM with firewall to increase the safety of my local data.... Let's just hope the custom ROMs will support it eventually.

What are you using a firewall for? Can you link me the firewall your using?
I use xprivacy in combination with a firewall(it's an old one and not available anymore on the app store).
There exists some apps that can wipe your phone automatically if you enter the wrong password to many times, I was using one but I can't find it anymore (locker).
-V
Sure! I am using AFWall+ which makes it easy to select the right processes thanks to the log. And it's not a proxy or so (iptables frontend), so it works on all processes and all connections (WiFi, Cell, Roamin, LAN, VPN).
The firewall in XPrivacy is much more finegrained, as it allows you to block certain IPs/Domains while AFWall+ is blocking the whole network access. So I'd say it depends on your needs and, to be honest, the time you want or can invest into setting up your tablet. I bought XPrivacy and am just downloading the profiles from the net as it takes too much time for me at the moment to find the settings on my own
I have upgraded to Android Lollipop + Root + TWRP.
I would use the full data encryption but it seems that you always have to enter a (long) password each time, when you start or unlocking (!) the Note 10.1 (2014 Edit.)
On my Huawei Mate 7 with Android 5, i can use a Passwort for the start and a pattern for unlocking. So, thats very good and fast, if i have to unlock the smartphone.
Only on my Samsung Note 10.1 there is no pattern methode for unlocking the tablet available.... (the same sh** as in Android 4.4)
While you can change the encryption password to be different from the unlock password (using the CLI), you can also use application like f.ex. Delayed Lock that modify the locking behaviour. I am not letting my phone lock when I am at home (WiFi, not that unuseable GPS/cell from the new Android ), for example. With those two approaches using a good encryption password is no hassle at all

I'm an idiot and I got some crazy malware. Help please.

OK so I smashed my s5, am a UDP verizon guy and hooked on the open bootloader, so i searched far and wide for another one with the 15 chipset...which I didn't find but I found a note 4 with it.
I bought it and unlocked it and loaded on a rom I loved. (5.0.1 og5). Well...no sense lying here...I was trying to do some less than kosher things regarding my ex's Facebook account with it. In the process I wasn't smart enough to cross check MD5s (a precaution I learned all too well) and opened an app that has me baffled.
It basically hijacked admin on my device completely. No Antivirus program can touch it, though many detect it. "Unknown sources" in my security folder is stuck permanently enabled, and I can't take over as admin on my own brand new note4.
I have tried flashing twrp and titanium backups to no avail, and also tried the safe stock og5 firmware through Odin but it never completes. I am stuck. I have logcat records and all the tools I would think might help, but I can't get rid of it...it seems to have used root and embedded itself into every facet of the device.
I am willing and ready to do anything including a full unroot and stock rom, I just don't want a locked update. Can anyone help me please?
As of now, no roms break it, only the stubborn malware CM app tries to get rid of it, but only identifies it as "suspicious file". My user admin and unknown sources are both locked, and a gaggle of bizarre log events happen constantly, forcing my device into crazy lag. As soon as it happened I received a couple random number-link blank text messages, but I never opened them. I don't have the numbers saved as I've flashed the phone like 30 times since trying to rid myself of this. Aside from the lag and locked unknown sources and admin, and an inability to clear trusted credentials, the phone seems to run normally, though I am scared to use it to log on to pretty much anything. The malware didn't come from a text, but from an app that I knowingly permitted thinking it was something else and I feel like a moron for it. It doesn't seem to have a name. It installed as an untitled app and I couldn't delete it with the root system app deleter, because it put a green bar over the check box in the app. I got rid of it with titanium, but to no avail. It still lurks.
Thanks in advance, and let me know of any screens hits or logs or tests I can provide to help.
At that point, I would recommend using Samsung's Smart Switch for PC program to do an emergency firmware upgrade & initialization. This will download a full copy of the stock firmware for the device (including a few bits that you won't find in stock firmwares available for download through sites like SamMobile) and will erase everything on the device and restore your phone to stock firmware.
If you are in the US and have a Best Buy nearby, you can see if one of their Samsung reps can perform a factory recovery using their SMART tool (which will do the same thing that Smart Switch's emergency firmware initialization will). Officially, rooted devices are not supported and they may rightfully refuse to do this, but it's worth asking if you don't have a computer to use for Smart Switch or don't want to wait.
You will need to redo the developer conversion, but that's the only thing I can think of that will definitely completely restore your phone to stock and eliminate all traces of whatever you installed.
thanks. that solved my problem and got it back to stock, rid of the malware completely. unfortunately, when i tried to return to the rom i had used, everything fell apart for me :/.

Long shot but need a way to bypass the pattern lock

Hi everyone,
So i know this is a long shot but there are some amazing folks on XDA so after scouring the web i figured this was my final hope.
So my niece has a stock S9 (G960U1) bought directly from Samsung. 2 days ago, her phone died overnight and when she put it on charge and booted her pattern no longer was being accepted. Same pattern used for quite some time. She kept trying it and then thought maybe she did forget it somehow and tried something else and of course now she only has a few attempts left before auto wipe (option was on in the settings ). She foolishly had everything on her phone out of which the most important is photos of someone who has passed and no recent backups.
It seems that most of the stuff was backed up to Samsung Cloud but the images and no backup turned on. So i've been desperately trying to help her as the only option seems to be wipe at this point but i don't know if recovery software will even be able to fully recover the images.
Tried so far:
Find My Mobile won't work as phone is on boot screen so no internet connection
ADB won't work because it won't accept the shell cmd
Aroma File Manager won't install (sig failure)
Tried a few programs available online (Dr Fone etc) but they either don't support the S9 or they wipe phone
Some mentioned the Extreme Syndicate thread but that also states you have to wipe
Friend works with Samsung sales and he's going to check with a tech but haven't heard back from him yet (not even sure they can do anything)
We do have the original receipt from Samsung (bought directly from them)
Really appreciate any help and if a wipe is the only option then let me know if you have a preferred recovery software that will hopefully be able to recover the images of concern.
Thanks
If she has a Samsung account, you can unlock the phone. Go to https://findmymobile.samsung.com and sign in, then look on the right menu, there is an option to unlock phone.

Question How to keep rooted RedMagic 6/6s up to date?

Hello there.
After some struggles I got my phone rooted, found that fingerprint doesn't work, then went back and forth for quite a bit, putting my phone into and out of multiple boot loops and stuck red magic icons along the way. Suddenly 4.15 dropped...and it's not on redmagic.gg site...just as I decided i want to root my phone after all.
I have 3 questions. First, may I ask if there is a way to extract boot.img out of my phone?
Via adb shell I was able to locate both root_a and root_b. However since I don't have root access I can't actually get them out of my phone (i.e. dd if=... of=... gives a nice permission denied). There are also talks of using custom recovery to extract boot image, however I wasn't able to find any for redmagic 6. Am I missing anything?
Second, I noticed that fingerprint reader dies as soon as I unlock flashing, not when I flash unsigned images. However words in the shadow (basically that 1 guy in that how to guide on this forum) speaks of a way to maintain fingerprint functionality on a rooted phone. May I ask how that might be done? More whispers enveloped in darkness (also 1 guy in the chinese nubia forum) tells of a way to root while not even unlocking bootloader. May I ask what is that sorcery?
Finally, despite this being my first phone with good fingerprint scanner, I've grown to really like it. I noticed there's no data wipe on relocking bootloader. Is it possible to makes some changes (say Vance my youtube apps, modify some settings, get rid of some bloatware) before locking back?
Last I did this (I installed vanced my youtube, installed local update, then relocked bootloader) I was sent into a boot loop that took a bit to get out of. I'm a tad scared but also can't tell if it categorically won't work or I was perhaps just unlucky.

Hello everyone on xda, please bare with me. Here's my story
I own a Redmi Note 8 pro, chinese rom model. It was running miui 11.0.3 over android 9 If I recall correctly.
Ok so... I was tired of some of the china apps pushing their notifications over and over and auto installing stuff, so I looked up how to apply adb commands to remove such bloatware, which was a fairly simple process. I copied and pasted a list of safe stuff to delete I found around some forums.
then... there were some other packages I checked out using an app called "app inspector", which directly tells you which app is under which package (totally useful for this purpose).
I tried to be careful not go overboard since I don't have any root access, or custom recovery, and wasn't really planning to have these, just wanted to keep this as my simple daily driver cellphone, but also perform this little maneuver to get rid of some bloatware.
little did I know, I was about to somehow softbrick it. More info: I did not use a screen lock method other than the "swipe up".
Ok, so I uninstalled some packages I cannot remember exactly how they went, but they had the terms "xman" and "yman" on them I think, I wasn't so sure about them because I looked them up on the web yet they didn't appear anywhere. I think they went something among the lines of "com.android.miui.xman". I also uninstalled 2 or 3 more, but after googling, they seemed unsuspecting.
Anyways, I'm aware there's a command to reinstall the packages because they're still on the phone's ROM image. That is in case I had to restore anything back to normal. Turns out I later rebooted the phone and when it launches the lock screen, I keep swiping up but it won't take me over to the actual MIUI launcher. The screen is frozen on the lock screen.
I'm not freaking out at this time because I still tried to connect the device to the pc, and it still shows as connected, I then go to the adb console and type "adb devices", it is still recognized, however, it says next to it that it is unauthorized... damn it. So now I might not be able to run the commands that allow me to reinstall the exact packages that are rendering the phone softbricked (I guess), plus I'm not really sure which package caused this.
After about a minute or two on the lock screen, the phone takes me to the "redmi-recovery 3.0",
which displays 3 options:
Reboot to system: which basically forms a loop
Wipe date: godforbid... really don't want to do it since I likely had many files not backedup
Contact miassistant: not sure what to do with this, says "pcsuite.mi.com" at the bottom
on the miassistant option you can apparently sideload stuff, idk how to go about this, maybe it allows me to install a slightly upgraded ROM, which in turn will work the same as if it was an OTA update (so it will keep my data as it was instead of wipe)? Because the point is not to erase my user data!!
I'm not sure how to feel or what to do without losing my pictures, notes and documents
I have hopes this situation can be turned around back to normal, and like the title implies... I'm WILLING to PAY you through paypal or something to WHOEVER offers to guide me through in the best way possible. Please if you have the knowledge/experience don't hesitate I'll also be grateful timelessly.
I'm not an expert at these scenarios so I might as well ask on xda where most are really skilled! Thanks in advance to those amazing souls

tldr;
If you can boot into fastboot mode you can just flash a official MIUI fastboot ROM:
Xiaomi Firmware Updater (where you can download official MIUI ROMS): https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/
This is the current hard unbrick method: https://telegra.ph/Installing-Redmi-Note-8-Pro-firmware-via-SP-Flash-Tool-01-21
It should also work in your case and there's even a video guide.
This is another video guide for fixing a hard brick:
Both methods above will format your phone though (afaik all data will be lost).

are these the kind of roms that you unzip and have the BL, AP, CP, CSC files? I could try that, but I've heard installing home_csc will not override/wipe my personal data. If this is what you meant, can you confirm? Or do you reckon these linked video tutorials would not wipe the data?

Nope, it doesn't.
If you can boot into Fastboot, flash the ROM using Mi Flash, otherwise, use this tutorial:
.
Compass Linux and juliusjr have told you the method, so I will just add supplemential infos.
In your case, I think simple upgrade will do the trick, dirty flash is applicable both via fastboot flash (mi flash) and recovery flash (the mi assistant method). If you want to stop the ads, I will recommend you to unlock your bootloader, move to global, root, and use an adblocker (a bare minimum config, in trade of some bangking apps being blocked).
I don't know the corresponding version for miui china rom, but in global rom, prior 12.0.0.7 (the one with the early 2021 security update), you can dirty flash back and forth while keeping your data.

Hi, thanks for your info, I would like to try the mi flash tool as I've been told before the stock recovery thing has less chances of working. However, I had dev options turned on before but didn't manage to turn on the "OEM unlock" option, will flashing original ROMs work this way? or did I need that option toogled on? That's my last doubt, and thanks a lot. Btw, the China ROM this Redmi N8P had never ever showed me any ads, but thanks a lot as well for such input

You still have a locked bootloader? (How do I know? You will see "Unloked" on the bottom of the screen everytime your device reboots and showing mi logo if your device is unlocked)
Hmm, mechanically it work like normal ota update. Full recovery update will ony erase nessesary partitions (system, boot, and some other things) while keeping your data intact. So doing this to your phone technically safe. You can do this with MiFlashPro, do a recovery update using a recovery rom (the 2 gigs one) greater than your current MIUI version. But please bear in mind that I have never done this before to a locked phone. A same distribution version IS A MUST (i.e. global with global).
Oh and it will need you to log in to your xiaomi account. My guess is you need the flash permission open for your account (if you have unlocked your phone you shouldn't have a problem). I have never flashed with an account that never have been used to unlock a bootloader, so I might be wrong.
If your phone is bootloader unlocked, Mi Flash is the least demanding and it can retain your data with "save user data" in the bottom right corner option on, regardless your miui version (but I think there will be some problem with installed apps if you downgrade from A10 to A9).
Hope this help.
