General [CLOSED] What Magisk Modules do you use? - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi Guys,
Creating it to help other community members know what modules some of us have flashed and is working on our phones. The idea is to provide consolidated list to new users and users coming back from a break with rooting and moding as things have changed quite alot and sometimes it becomes overwhelming. Just want these guys to feel confident as they did years ago.
I personally use Dolby Atmos on my Arrow Os Build and it works well. I am learning to make Magisk Module to provide some Bootanimation ports, but I am getting failed always.

I'm still looking for how to move the clock to the right in the status bar and how to add seconds to the clock in the status bar.

[Q] touchwiz homescreen rotation?

Is this possible with a build prop edit?
I know there are apps out there that will accomplish this but was wondering if there is a flashable zip or something we could modify in the build prop?
No. this mod is not done in the build prop. The tw launcher itself is what would need to be modded. If you look around you will find the thread by @kevinoliva113 that he posted these mods for KK TW roms. I suppose if you requested a modded Lollipop TW launcher he could probably add it to his thread. there may be other members who could also do this mod and post it. also you could maybe learn to do the mod yourself if you feel capable. If not then visit the thread i mentioned and ask for help there. Good luck.
I think you can accomplish this with app settings and xposed. You would have to be on kit kat. I've tried it and rotating the touch wiz launcher doesn't really work well. Some things bet cut out of the screen. Try it for yourself.

A bit late to this thread but I would love to learn how to get inside my phone and build mods like this. Been waiting on xposed for lollipop for some time now and getting a bit impatient so I would like to take a crack at this stuff and learn a thing or too along the way. Perhaps eventually even be able to contribute to xda and share my findings with others. Where would be the best place to start please and thank you?

My advice would be to search here on XDA. You can find a lot of useful information in the XDA University where the link can be found on the XDA portal homepage.
First thing you will need to learn is how to setup your machine with the proper java and android sdk for your machine. Next you'll need to gather the necessary tools to decompile apk's & jar files. There are several different ones. You'll also need to do a LOT of reading and research on the topic of "Android Development". There are several aspects and they vary in difficulty. The most basic thing you'll want to start with is correctly decompiling and recompiling apk's and jar files and that is just the beginning. Rom building has many things you'll have to learn as well as the proper machine to do so. A Linux machine would be nice but not completely mandatory. Windows works fine but for rom kitchens Linux is ideal. I would not attempt to dive into this stuff unless you have a lot of spare time and the mental capacity to absorb a lot of knowledge as well as have the desire & passion to do this sort of thing. It's not something the average person can just dive into and learn everything in one weekend. It'll take months or years of reading, experimenting, and trial & error. Getting help from those with knowledge and experience is another thing you'll want to do. People generally don't mind helping others but this isn't always the case. Choose your friends wisely and seek help from those known for there willingness to help others. Don't waste your time with people who are rude, condescending or who think they are better than you. As with any new endeavor, you simply have to learn as you go and it just takes time... a lot of time. We all learn new things everyday. Knowledge is king and trumps everything else. Get all you can while you can and nobody can ever take that away from you. And it's almost always free of charge if you look in the right places. good luck!

Yes, we always have to wait, wait waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiit.
Let me put it this way: It is unfortunate that this smartphone only enjoys a last "Unicorn", i.e. the last devloper who seems to be invovled in many things and seems to be, at least at the moment, not very responsive ....

Adrian,
who of us has not a private life? We all do and we all deserve one. No doubt about it. However, what I did when I edited the kernel of the Huawei Mediapad or when I wrote my USB-to-Ethernet-Helper even if I ceased developing (because of too little time and other commitments) I always checked the forum at least every two days and provided explanation or at least a helping word as far as I could. I don't want people hanging around waiting for something that is never going to happen. Let's be fair to one another and not waste precious time!
Rom cooking is something that's very laborious and veeeeery time consuming that's why I never went into this business and rest assured I admire those folks who devote their time and tremendous effort to make a new Rom happen. Quite terrific. But it is also true that Rom port users want to enjoy a Rom where the features they want to use are in fact usable. If they need facebook messenger badly and it doesn't work, well they skip the Rom and revert to stock. What else are they supposed to do? But what's the purpose of this Rom then?
Personally, I don't need zillions of Rom ports, I need a working one with a recent kernel with as little bugs as goes. Yes, sure, cooking several Roms with the same kernel and they all suffer from the same bugs because these bugs are hard to squash since they need to be fixed somewhere in the depths of the Android system or even somewhere in the kernel video driver (for instance) is easier than getting right at the culprit. Yes, sometimes knowledge is missing or time or resources, you name it. If there is at least another developer, you can buddy up and support each other. If you are left alone, well, developer support of this type of device is more often than not running out in the near future.
The sad truth here on XDA forums is, we suffer from many, tooo many devices and too few developers for all these devices. Also it is forbidden to charge money for one's development efforts. Donation is ok, but who can live from donations??? Rom cooking takes soooo much time and if you want to do it so that 95% of the people are satisfied with your Roms you need so much knowledge, too. No wonder developers withdraw their favor from old smartphones and turn to newer, more exiting ones, where manufacturer support is better.
Cheers,
dfahren

I understand it man. I feel it. This was they before for me in Galaxy Ace NXT. Development was pretty dead. Until two people came and did some very heavylifting for us who waited a long time for a stable ROM. I was very happy that time. I hope this will change in the near future. Every phone deserve some development. Thanks for your time man. Have a nice day. :highfive:

[Discussion] New to Android, Thanks XDA Community! No Audio on call or phone app.

Firstly, Thank you XDA community for helping me with my new first android device.
Secondly, I would love to thanks the developer who worked on really awesome custom ROMS for the devices, they worked really flawless.
Now my Question is: Is it only me or anyone else having problem with tmobile variant device, that have no audio and mic on phone app and in-call.
It only happens with custom ROMS. I did search for solution, before posting this thread.
I came up with two zip files under the name audio fix for tmobile on 7.0 OS. But those didn’t work. instead one of the zip caused boot loop. SO, that being said, is there an ANGEL!!!! to help me with this problem. I really want to use custom ROMs or atleast cleanest / lightest STOCKED ROM.... thank you in advance for reading and responding to my thread.

Your not the only one having this issue. Apparently the call libraries (or something like that) are different for T-Mobile variants of the s6 edge plus. I ran into the same issue when I first got this phone. What you need to do is look for custom ROMs who offer explicit support for SM-G928T. I started a thread on the issue a few months ago. On there I put a list of ROMs that have working call audio with no add ons. Feel free to check it out if you'd like.

A dev uploaded an unofficial 17.1 to AFH(1) w/ the new display driver a couple weeks back. It works great, except no audio besides during phone calls or when using headphones(or BT?, IDK).
I recently stumbled upon AlaskaLinuxUsers tutorial+videos(2) on how to setup & compile custom ROMs. Am in the process of setting up an Ubuntu workstation with 4th gen i5, 8GB DDR3, 2TB SSD & slow internet. It will take some time, apparently. My goal is to get this 17.1 working w/ new display &/or the working 18.1 w/ new display sans gapps. IDK if I will achieve a bootable ROM, but it looks like it's my only path, as outside of Electimon(3), not a lot of development is going on w/ Ginna anymore. Will post progress/results, if any is gained.

Nothing but respect & gratitude for E's work. Am a long-time fan. However, his build contains Gapps & I don't want them.
Understandable if you get one going let me know because I'm currently on stock due to camera issues and I would love a ROM sans g apps especially if you would put sig spoof in for micro g

Two posts before yours, link #2.
I have been delayed... unidentified bug bite put me out of service for a bit. Wild f'n ride. Got Ubu w/s setup, will start provisioning/downloading tonight.
After ~14 hours downloading(multiple nights @ < 1MB/s... aggregating > 50 GB) on my wireless plan, I am yet to achieve a 100% sync of the LOS repo. After hitting the MU Throttle Threshold on last month's plan, I must concede defeat at this point as I cannot afford to jeopardize my only home inet option available for another 30 days(extreme rural living, no landlines or line-of-sight options). Sigh.
my schedule is full of other things but i will take a look at the links posted and attempt to to builds as it. LOS sans GAPPS sounds like a dream. currently I use 18.1 modded and manually degoogle it. its not so fun everytime i reset :/

FWIW, I should have an internet connection capable of down/uploading in the next 2 weeks, at which time I will begin failing to compile until I succeed. Hopefully, on all points.
It seems like rolling the old 17.1 w/ the new display driver would be pretty straightforward, but a lot of ignorance is wrapped in that statement.

General Pre rooted roms(project rooted)

Mod edit: TG link removed as per XDA's TG Chat Rules.
(TG link and home page was removed I can only see in their rules the TG link all good so adding back the home page to the home page)
I started project rooted to provide pre rooted roms to people. I'm looking for someone to help with pixel 6 pro. If anyone is interested please let me know. All it really is is patching operating systems, recompiling then, and sharing them.
I think that there is no value at all in this project. All anyone needs to do is run the original boot.img through magisk before they write it to the boot partition and the job is done.
In addition, if anyone was inclined to use 3rd party hosted pre-rooted (or not) boot images, I would VERY STRONGLY recommend that they DO NOT. This is simply because it opens them up to whatever other undisclosed changes happen to have been added to it.
Thanks for the feedback!!! I can assure you that there is absolutely no malicious intent or anything out of the ordinary in these roms. I've had mixed responses with some liking and disliking the project. If it's not your preference no problem I'm not going to stop you from doing it manually or not using my project either way. I'm doing this for fun and am providing a convenient place for roms in one place(without having to search through chats) and with the bonus of being rooted from the start.
Edit: typo

Lol, I get it. I'm not well known or trusted yet as this is not my first project but first I've tried to get out there as much as I am. Again I'll reiterate that you don't have to use it if you don't trust it all my work is posted even the as basic as it is website is open source on GitHub. If you have any genuine feedback for me I'd love to hear it. Constructive feedback on how to get started and trusted wouldn't be so bad. Thanks for your opinion though, it's good to hear what a community thinks of new projects/ideas

Thanks for being a great sport
Is there benefit in having it pre rooted? Perhaps easier to pass the safety checks for banking apps?

Yes I have had better success with safetynet since doing this they don't always work out like that but for the most part it's been better. As far as pre-rooted with pixel devices it's not too hard to do, just time consuming. I'm going to build a set of instructions tonight for my website as to how to do so yourself for those who would rather do it manually
That sounds great. I'm looking forward to the project.
Back... like 10 years ago roms came pre rooted as well

I remember that was one of the best things ever. That's just one of my reasons I wanted to do this. THANKS for the support!!!

We understand, just with the new safeties built into to hardware anymore it can comicate things for some people. I am not saying prerooted is WRONG, it can just cause problems. It's not you. Lol
Yeah, some devices can, some won't. I am alware of these but also understand the risk is minimal and unlikely to be president. Reality with anything like this even down to the roms themselves have so many variables that could cause problems. Which I why I have taken the extra steps to test that I have a solidly rooted Rom

I started project rooted to provide pre rooted roms to people. I'm looking for someone to help with pixel 6 pro. If anyone is interested please let me know. All it really is is patching operating systems, recompiling then, and sharing them.

For anyone who might want to know this. I have a very poor excuse for a guide on making pre rooted roms on my page now if you have a pixel device it does work. It was quickly put together and I WILL update it SOON and will add screenshots to help as well as fine tuning the wording.
What would be nice is to have the installation routinely root the boot.img if the system is pre-rooted, like Lineage 18 does on my 1+7pro.

Edit: typo

Its not a question of you having malicious intent. Its a question of best practices for security. Other people who may be more or less trustworthy than you may have similar projects (and in fact, I remember another thread with this exact purpose), and trusting those may be quite dangerous.
But more to the point, and WITHOUT putting your trustworthiness or honor in question, how can anybody know whether you are *actually* trustworthy or just someone claiming (falsely) to be?
And since the process of running it through Magisk is so absurdly trivial, what advantage does this provide to users to compensate them for the risk?
Advantages: nil
Risks: elevated
Rational choice: avoid.

It does a few things, it in many cases seems to help with safetynet being easier to pass( not always some roms are more stubborn). It provides a convinent place where everything is at. All my stuff is open source and downloadable so you may check whatever you want. Though I don't have the source code to the roms since I'm not building them. And I put links to the roms group chat and instructions as to how(for pixel devices) to make a pre-rooted rom yourself. So if you don't trust it but want it I give how to and where to get the files to do so some also fear that things may not work as mentioned above can happen but is very minimal especially since I test before releasing.

What version of Magisk do you intend to use? Because on at least 2 or 3 occasions due to Google changing things, Canary has been needed. On the other hand, there have also been occasions where Canary broke some things and Stable was needed.
Because the Pixel 6 series seems to be "often" affected by changes made by Google in their monthly updates, as well as Magisk itself, it seems that pre-rooting a rom on the Pixel 6 series "may" cause some unintended problems.
It's been quite the cat and mouse game when it comes to the Pixel 6 series and rooting in terms of these changes, and not in terms of just rooting itself, but other things like custom kernels, etc..

Currently I've been using v25.0 that is one thing I test too and check with others about. So far 25.0 is working great with the minor detail of having to download the magisk apk and install rather then the greyed out icon to "update" but it still works exactly the same and I have not experienced anything broken so far

Yes, but there have been occasions where after a monthly update a Canary version was needed (e.g. December update when Google moved its fstab to /system/etc.) and John had to update Magisk and push a Canary version before people could actually boot a rooted boot image.
And I'm curious if you closely follow the issues, PRs and commits in the Magisk Github? For example, Beta 25.0 has changed (actually changed with Canary 24303 I believe) so that custom kernels will no longer boot unless verity and verification are disabled or if the kernel uses the latest AK3 which patches vendor_dlkm.img and vbmeta.img, or if the kernel patches them itself.
My point is there could be some unintended consequences for people who may not be aware of any current issues unless they are made aware of them before flashing a pre-rooted rom.
Anyway, if people find this useful then good for them and good for you.

I which case testing would show that plus I'm usually pretty good at keeping up with that kind of thing. It is a valid concern but since the versions I release are going to have the correct version for them I will do the same for each rom indevidually as need to make sure they will work properly. Whenever a new version is released. That too means if you are on the same rom and dirty flash to the next one magisk will prompt you to update the app(has been tested too)
