Hey guys, I recently found an SPH-P100 in a dumpster (score! :victory and I was quite disappointed to see that there's a terrible lack of development for these devices. As such, I've forked the newest device configuration available on github, and I'll be working to release a wider variety of ROMs and to complete hardware support as much as possible. Unfortunately, there is very little I can do to address the complete lack of 3G support, as I have no service whatsoever on my device.
Now, the ROM! This is a clean build of PAC-man 4.3 for p1c. I have removed the hardcoded verizon-specific properties and model identifiers as a first step towards proper support of both Verizon and Sprint models, but no functionality is changed from the newest CM10.1 builds.
I notice that there are not any PAC builds for p1(l|n) posted either, so if there is adequate interest I may begin builds for those devices as well.
TWRP 2.6.3.0 is the included recovery, and has full SELinux support. (Compatible with KitKat ROMs!)

You are definately right. As of right now, there are no developers working on the p1c. The last one i remember was stimp0z, and his son broke his tab. So, all the developers are now gsm based. Terenceng does have a kit kat version for the p1c. I have it on my other tab. Anyway, the developers all went to kit kat.
If i can be of help, let me know.

I have 3g on one tab, but it's on galaxy cubed. My other tab is on terenceng cm11 mod. Kit kat. If you could make a zip file with a patch to flash on kit kat, i could try it out.

first up - great to see someone working on development for the p1c - good score finding one in the bin!
to make things clearer - i was never a developer for the p1c, my old tablet (the p1 GSM version) was broken by my youngest son recently. my work on the p1c was purely guess work / diagnosed via my testers. p1c lost it's support from it's main developer (jt1134) before kernel 3.0 was released so without a developer to work on p1c related issues, it was hit and miss all the way. both humberos and myself had it booting, but it never worked with data (though attempts were made). now due to a generous donation from one of my CDMA testers, i will soon receive a Sprint tablet he has spare so i can continue developing - which means it will be a lot easier for me to work on issues facing the CDMA variants (but will never be able to test data myself as I live in Australia, not USA).
however - the more developers that work on the p1c the better, so please keep working on whatever you can - also working on something different to CM is definitely called for as i believe the users deserve a choice between custom ROMS for their SGT7.
if you wish to have a crack at data already - shoot me a pm and i'll give you some commits to look into that may help you on your way.
I am another P1C user, the last build around here that worked for me was alrodger's 4.1.2
Terenceng's does not work on my P1C, I am on verizon and it doesn't find the carrier and never activates.
P1C is only $75 on ebay these days for refurbished, great value.
I was kinda hoping to find a kitkat build for p1c that works but none exists and doesn't seem forthcoming by anyone.
I guess I will try 4.3.1
Does this have working usb and wifi tether? That's a biggie for me.
---------- Post added at 06:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:19 PM ----------
Okay I get the same failure trying to install this that I got with alrodger's final build.
using TWRP from the last kitkat flash, I wipe everything except the external sd card
then I try to install the rom and I get
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") ==
and a long list of devices
does that mean I have a device not in that list?
it then says
"E:Error executing updater binary in zip"
Also on 4.1.2 on my Sprint tab 7. I'm downloading and will give it a run. I dont have 3G but I'll report back after install.
terenceng is working on 4.4 and has "Coming Soon" for the PC1 but been a while. so now one is working on 4.4.
thanks ultravioletnanokitty for giving the P100 some love.
Update : ROM installed with out issue also used PAC gapps. WiFi OK camera OK feels quicker than 4.1.2. So all good for last 30 minute of use. Thanks for this rom dude nice job.
Cheers
update: okay I remembered how to get back to basics and I used heimdall to sideload cwm bootloader recovery
very fun looking rom, however it suffers from the same problem as Terenceng's:
it does not find the verizon radio/carrier and crashes when I try to manually activate it

Hi again, as stated before I do not have 3G connection plan on my Sprint tab, So I cannot test connectivity to 3G. All other functionality I can test.
Rom working nicely, few issues with following apps:
Netflix: movie never starts playing
Youtube: video never starts playing, "There was a problem while playing, Touch to retry"
Pandora: Audio does not start
Google Play Music: Audio does not start
Timely alarm clock: The set time to ring caused app stop
Navigation in all these apps is OK just issue when playing something
Apps working well:
iHeartRadio: Working OK
Gmail: Ok
Camer: pictures OK
Ebay: seems to be working ok but have not tested placing a bid
Let me know what else I can check, weekdays have little time to test but should be able to get something done.
Let me know what you want me to check or report on?
Cheers

Hey great job on the ROM, however I have found some bugs. Upon installing the keyboard didn't work. I installed hackers keyboard. Web videos and audio also do not seem to work either. I was also wondering if charging with USB while the device is on could be enabled.

media playback is flat-out broken in all p1x 4.3+ roms, i believe... also, i've never found charging while the device is on to work at all... if i leave it plugged into my laptop with the screen off overnight, it gets up to 99%. if i want to fully charge it the only option i've found is to power it off and plug it in. i don't have the original samsung charger or cable, though, so that could be it. regarding the keyboard, are you using gapps? i am on my tab, and i don't have any issues... it could be an issue with the aosp keyboard, though.
I just also recently picked up one of these guys, my actual intentions for mine is to get it on verizon prepaid using a extravert as a donor phone and tethering the 3g. I seen a guy offering a service to flash them but I am a bit unsure I would rather do it myself. Have you ever looked into this yet. You might get more bars with verizon than you do with sprint. Plus at like 10 bux a month unlimited internet isn't tp bad ( if you buy a $30 card good for 3 monthes IE $10 a month)
Let me know if I can be of assitance, Looking to flash a light weight rom.

It is my understanding (but not firsthand experience) that verizon can detect this within a couple of months and kill the imei, so be careful.
Instead I got onto a friend's family plan for $10 a month legit (but data cap of course)
Do I install this in recovery?

Lets say I work for Verizon in a department that has privy info and tools at my disposal and I will tell you we have a tool called MVD it is a Mobile Virtual Diagnostic it can detect root and will show if the tool is run. The thing is it is only loaded for tools that have the most current version of My Verizon application installed 10.0 or higher. Anything prior to that it won't load your info so root can't be seen with general tech tools. Just FYI... I am happy you all are working on SCH-I800 But I can't seem to find the the Root and Tar files to load... Any image files link?

Well, that explains the lack of sound and the fact that all video apps crash.
Seriously though, this ROM is a significant improvement for me compared to Cyanogenmod 9.1 (4.0.4). My Tab is far more stable than it was, and has only crashed on me once, forcing me to do a factory reset.
Can I flash back to an earlier ROM, say 4.2.2 or 4.0.4, without bricking my Tab? I have seen on the AT&T Galaxy S 3 (SGH-i747) board that S 3s that updated OTA to 4.3 will hard brick if flashed to an older ROM, so I am concerned.
Also, how close in hardware is the p1c to the Galaxy S GT-i9000? I have several i9000 ROMs on my computer, and if it is close enough, I might be able to get media working on mine. Worth a try. :fingers-crossed:
I'm terrible with OPs.

Let me start by saying thank you! It's nice not to be forgotten. I actually downgraded from my Optimus G to the Galaxy Nexus about 3 months ago but haven't looked back since. I'm having a blast with all these awesome Roms while keeping up with the best of em.
I've been waiting for this for a long time! Thanks XD
Thank you. CyanogenMod hasn't had a quality build for us in months. This could convert some users.

Try a fresh install and then give some feedback. Sometimes updates don't work depending on what was changed in the latest nightly/update.

I am use TWRP 2.7.1.0
I used the automated system to update (which just calls TWRP) and I have no problems on today's nightly.
I think I'm about to stick to Omnirom. Seems more fluid, probably due to the lack of the theme engine.

I actually slightly miss the theme engine. I'll be sticking with Omni for now though, it's been very solid. And my compass works, which it never did on CM11, it was always pointing the wrong way. Google Sky Map, which worked wonderfully on my old Droid Incredible, was a complete fail on my toroplus - on CM, that is. It also works just fine on Omni, probably due to the compass working correctly.
I've just been downloading the nightlies and installing them via TWRP, haven't used the automated system updates (I don't even know where that is.)
how is the data handshake handled in omni? is it pulled from CM?
Nothing but praise for this rom so far. Gaining usage of 3g to 4g data after oem 4.3 screwed it up was great to have again. Thanks. Hope to donate when I have some extra cash.
I tried to install Roam Ctrl to force roam only for when I am in a bad area, but it won't work. Is this omnirom related or galaxy nexus released it may seem? Anyone have any other options for forced roaming? Would be a great feature to incorporate in a future omni update.
been using the rom now the whole weekend, wished i would have switched over sooner, this is a great rom and 4g/3g works great, and really starting to like active notifcations!

The Cyanogen Inc. theme engine is very resource-hungry, and I'm in agreement with the OmniROM team's decision to not include it. Maybe in the future it'll be different, but for now it seems more like Cyanogen Inc. dumped this unfinished mess on the public to let them find the bugs and fix it rather than do it themselves before releasing it.
Disclaimer: This is just MY opinion and is not meant as a representation of an official OmniROM opinion in any way, shape or form.

I am aware of WiFi not automatically connecting, it'll do so after turning WiFi off and then on again however. That slight inconvenience probably helps save battery though, so it'd be cool to see if I can make it something configurable.

I wasn't even aware that the stock ROM was a mess with 4G data as well, yikes! You guys have really gotten the shaft it seems.
Any donation is greatly appreciated! Most donations I have received were invested into things to help with development, some examples would be: parts for fixing my Galaxy Nexus, a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter for my dev laptop to help with developing/debugging Bluetooth, microUSB cables (mine wear out all the time due to their constant usage!), Coca-Cola or Pepsi (whatever is on sale, I like 'em both) to keep me going when developing stuff, etc.
I can really stretch a little bit of money really far too: the Bluetooth 4.0 adapter (which includes really fast WiFi too, 300Mbps 802.11n :good I snagged for $15, and it's an Atheros! I constantly find 12 packs of soda on sale for $3 each, sometimes even $2.50 each. $5 can get me 24 cans of soda!!
If you do donate, consider doing it with Google Wallet if you can. PayPal charges some pretty ridiculous fees, Google Wallet doesn't have any fees, so a $5 donation via Google Wallet is $5 when I receive it, but a $5 donation via PayPal ends up being more like $4.50. I've got credit/debit/whatever cards linked to Google Wallet and PayPal, so I can use them wherever regardless of whether or not they're accepted as official payment methods somewhere too

Installed the latest nightly after a wipe. I can't get LTE to work. After the flash I had 3G and it was set on the 2G/3G Preferred setting, I changed it to LTE an immediately got some infinite loop of "Android Phone has stopped running" or similar.
Now when I toggle it to LTE I get no data, I'll get a signal indicator but I get no data at all. Any ideas?
edit: the *#*#DATA#*#* code pops up a "com.android.phone has stopped" error when I click Edit. I'm using the GApps as recommended in the OmniROM wiki.
edit: I've also noticed when I update PRL or Profile I get "Error: (Code:1)Internal Error" each time, could be related?
Hello !
I love taking photos and shooting videos with my phone and I always listen to music with Bluetooth headphones.
I looked for some custom ROMs in the forum but I'm a little lost about stability, what is working and what is not.
So I wanted your help guys and girls please.
I see that LineageOS 15.0 seems pretty stable but there's A LOT to read and tbh, I don't have the courage to do that haha.
If Android Pay could work too on it, that would be awesome but I don't have that much hope about that.
Thanks in advance for your answers and time,
Cordially,
bmx22c.
I'm very content with LOS 14.1 as it worked flawless since I installed it several months ago, but ViperOS also has a good track record when it comes to stabilty.
For camera it's easy, just install the last APK in the thread, where there are also suggestions about how to set it up every few posts:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...google-camera-camera-api2-fix-t3655211/page70
60fps video recording has some issues with several people though, so if are among them, try to use the ROM camera app for video. Photo's are best in the above app.
Android pay will probably work when you install Magisk (which roots the device and makes it pass the various security checks for stuff like Netflix and online banking), which also has plugins for music quality in the "Magisk Manager" app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Personally, I use the Dolby plugin for sound (not sure if this version is still found in Magisk Manager):

Thanks for your answer !
I will look into LOS 14.1 !
I'm mainly using the phone to shoot photos in RAW format (raw format let you save all data from the camera in case you are not familiar with photos) but I have read some threads about the Google Camera APK and it really looks cool !
For 60 FPS, it may be an issue, but I'm mainly recording in 4K30i so if 4K works, it's okay for me
Oh ! Magisk ! Never used it haha, I always used SuperSU, it may be time for me to update my knowledge, thanks !
I used to install Viper4Android but if Dolby work, that's fine, I mean, at least bluetooth needs to work haha !
Thanks again for your answer !
4k30fps works, so no problem there. You can BTW also manually install Magisk modules, so you can try out whatever soundmod you please.
/EDIT: For the camera app, look at the latest posts for the newest version!

Have you ever tested LOS 15.0 ? I mean, it is the latest version, am I right ?
I have not tested it yet because there are some serious security bugs still left, plus some random stuff popping up. I'd rather wait a bit more before I move as it is so new. Recently there has been news that LineageOS is planning to merge android 8.0 with 8.1 in the coming weeks (with not 1 phone having LOS 15 officially yet), so that might possibly introduce more bugs. Call me a chicken, but I like my phone working whenever I need it.

Oh ok thanks, I didn't knew that it was THAT early, thanks for the informations, I really appreciate it !
Tbh, I liked changing ROMs on my older phone but I didn't do that for like 2 years now and I'm pretty lost on LOS versions.
EDIT: One last question. Do you have any tips as when installing LOS 14.1 ? I'm still in MIUI 8 and I haven't changed my recovery.
My bootloader is unlocked.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong) I need to install TWRP and then wipe DATA + SYSTEM then flash ZIP (+ GAPPS later).
EDIT 2: I'm pretty scared tbf because last phone I had was a Honor 7 and it was just so painful not to brick the phone.. Installing version was painful like you needed x amout of instructions not to brick it and I just hope I won't lose any personnal data (personnal files, I know that SMS will be wiped)
EDIT 3 (yup, that many edit haha): I only see "nightly" version, is this correct, or is there any "stable" one ?
Well, as far as I read, they are more stable than I expected (as in: the bugs are relatively minor, thus it is useable if you are not easily annoyed) and the devs are making progress REALLY fast. So maybe in a months time or so it might already be worth for even the more cautious users to switch. Kinda depends on what kind of user you are. But from your text I figured you are someone who prefers stability over bleeding edge features.

Well, I'm an experienced Android user, and I had a pretty bad experience with my last phone which was a pain in the back for developers, so ROMs where not stable at all, video recording looked like sh*t, apps crashed etc. So I'm not against a bug here and there you know
Hi,
I'm just going to borrow this thread for a second, as I am looking for a similar thing. I would like to just add one more important factor for me and that is battery life. Would you say that this is also the best on Los 14.1? Are there any tweaks necessary in order to get the most out of the battery, similar to camera or sound tweaks? Is there still a battery drain associated with the fingerprint sensor?
Thank you!
For me battery life is fine as it is, but great after installing ForceDoze (Magisk module) after another user recommended it. No added trouble, so also a strong recommendation there.
To be extra certain you could flash the latest official Global MIUI first before flashing LOS as it installs the latest firmwares. It might be that you have to reinstall TWRP though.
So I have been in this modding android game for quite some time since I had an LG G3 and then I moved over to the Nexus 6 for about 2 years and some of these custom roms are just awesome but one thing I cannot get rid of properly are the inbuilt AOSP apps..
on the Nexus 6 a few years back somebody made a flashable zip that got rid of all of them and the boot animation but then fixed the boot animation being deleted and unfortunately time to change technology has changed and that doesn't work on this phone obviously.
I have tried using the magisk debloater and it just a little too complicated for me because I don't like having two of the same apps one being Google the other being AOSP and any other gaps package I flash besides the razorlove gapps fail when flashing a custom ROM..
I've tried using opengapps and I thought when flashing that package the AOSP apps get replaced with the Google version of them.
Would anybody mind listing what AOSP apps I can remove completely and I apologize if it's already on the thread but I didn't really see anything or maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place but can you guys help me out? I really like the RR ROM but the AOSP apps just bothered the hell out of me. I've tried using titanium to completely remove some of them like the AOSP Keyboard but it doesn't fully remove them and I don't want to go into the files that I don't know about and screw up my phone..
So right now I'm on stock and the limitations kind of suck so if anybody could you know help me out listing a method that they use to get rid of them that actually works or listing the ones that I can remove and what program I can use to remove them I do not want to disable them I want to remove them... Or because I know how to use Linux and what not you know maybe somebody could show me how to make a flashable zip that will remove them and I will gladly share it to the community but I'm looking for anything that helps.
It would be greatly appreciated!

You do realize that AOSP is not a single project like some rom developers, right? If someone publishes an "AOSP" rom, that doesn't mean that they are following some kind of standards or rules.

Well obviously but what I'm saying is pretty much every ROM that I flash seems to have the built-in apps that are AOSP based or maybe I'm not saying it right but basically every ROM that I've tried (dirty unicorns, Resurrection Remix, carbon, dotOS, sudomod,) all have built-in AOSP Keyboard AOSP phone AOSP calendar AOSP email **** like that and that's what I want to remove

A piece of advice. Get rid of your Pixel as soon as you can. It's a bug testing platform for Google. Samsung, HTC, LG, Oneplus take buggy Google code and refine it. Google doesn't bother.
I only keep this $960 piece of **** (which is now worth less that $300) because I have no other alternative at the moment. As soon as I can dump it for a real a phone, I will.
I'm good thanks I do my research before I buy my phones and I will never buy another Samsung again and dumping my phone is not an option right now if it was I get me the Rog phone from Asus that thing is a beast

I used an S9 for a little while when I was setting it up for a friend. It's a marvelous phone. I have owned multiple HTC flagships in the past, and they were stellar. I have heard that LG and Oneplus were excellent. My last phone before Pixel XL was Note 7, which was absolutely amazing, one of a kind. This pos Pixel XL has been nothing but bug ridden nightmare. The only reason why I keep it around is because of Project FI. It's because it's cheap. Goddamn $960 nightmare on top of that.
Also, please use punctuation next time. Not using it seems like an insult, but maybe that's just me.
I like my pixel XL. No bugs here.

Click on my profile and find new threads started by me in this subforum.
I believe every single new thread was me complaining about one bug or another.
The biggest one that is always on my mind though, and which is almost a deal breaker, was introduced by Google in the 7.0.2 update. And they still haven't fixed it, but all other manufacturers have - I know for a fact that this bug was fixed in Oreo by Samsung and Oneplus.
It's where you wear a smartwatch which can make and receive phone calls, such as my beautiful Huawei Watch with a gorgeous custom band, and then you get inside your car with a bluetooth hands-free car kit, or just a bluetooth headset, which then improperly connects to the phone as "Connected (no phone)." So you cannot use it. If you don't wear a watch, then everything works fine with a kit or bt headset. This is the reason why I don't wear my beautiful watch anymore. Google needs to fire their bluetooth stack programmer.

My bad. I use speech to text a lot and I don't like using punctuation when speaking. It causes some bad habits.
Update though, upon doing further research making a flashable zip is complicated but I should have it all figured out by the end of the week and I'm not really having any bugs with the AOSP apps I just don't like looking in my app drawer and seeing there's duplicates and I really don't want to manually hide all of them each time I flash a ROM or something and do a backup.
On a side note I just found a Chrome extension that allows speech to text and is very good with no ads. If you're like me and you use your voice more than you use your keyboard, look up voice in voice typing under Chrome extensions pretty damn simple.

A friend of mine made a script specifically for what you are trying to do, granted, it's for a different device and older version of Android. Some small modification should be all it needs to suit your purpose, if nothing else, it may contain some useful information.

You are completely fine. I'm shocked how nice people are on here LOL usually people are just mean and think they have the right answer and I have to accept it no matter what and I just don't like people who are so full of themselves so thank you.
I've been trying to research this but I was supposed to have surgery today and I was getting ready for that and unfortunately it was cancelled without my knowledge so that was pretty stressful and now I have to start the whole process over again because the doctors I was going to go to no longer accept my insurance and nobody told me so I'm still going to work on this it's just going to be a little bit of a process.

As a side note, I am now in the same boat as you. I have a Oneplus 6 now, silk white, which is gorgeous. But it has double apps like yours - 2 calendars, 2 calculators, 2 message apps, 2 clock apps etc. I don't even really know which ones are Google and which ones are Oneplus - I think the round icons are Google, but rectangular icons are Oneplus. Plus I don't know which apps are better. I think that I will use some of them for a while and disable the least appealing ones.
There are only a handful, and maybe that's what you can do? Just disable? If you cannot disable from the main Android interface, you can do it from adb. There are commands that can disable and enable app packages from adb.
Hey guys I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've kept up with you guys. So a little side note
I have started this project it is my very first project on my GitHub.
But my problem is I have no idea how to even start this I mean I tried using the flashable zip creator and it pulled the system apps but I'm at a loss here any help would be greatly appreciated..
You can view the project at this link by the way

Mod edit: TG link removed as per XDA's TG Chat Rules.
(TG link and home page was removed I can only see in their rules the TG link all good so adding back the home page to the home page)
I started project rooted to provide pre rooted roms to people. I'm looking for someone to help with pixel 6 pro. If anyone is interested please let me know. All it really is is patching operating systems, recompiling then, and sharing them.
I think that there is no value at all in this project. All anyone needs to do is run the original boot.img through magisk before they write it to the boot partition and the job is done.
In addition, if anyone was inclined to use 3rd party hosted pre-rooted (or not) boot images, I would VERY STRONGLY recommend that they DO NOT. This is simply because it opens them up to whatever other undisclosed changes happen to have been added to it.
Thanks for the feedback!!! I can assure you that there is absolutely no malicious intent or anything out of the ordinary in these roms. I've had mixed responses with some liking and disliking the project. If it's not your preference no problem I'm not going to stop you from doing it manually or not using my project either way. I'm doing this for fun and am providing a convenient place for roms in one place(without having to search through chats) and with the bonus of being rooted from the start.
Edit: typo

Yes I have had better success with safetynet since doing this they don't always work out like that but for the most part it's been better. As far as pre-rooted with pixel devices it's not too hard to do, just time consuming. I'm going to build a set of instructions tonight for my website as to how to do so yourself for those who would rather do it manually
That sounds great. I'm looking forward to the project.

We understand, just with the new safeties built into to hardware anymore it can comicate things for some people. I am not saying prerooted is WRONG, it can just cause problems. It's not you. Lol
Yeah, some devices can, some won't. I am alware of these but also understand the risk is minimal and unlikely to be president. Reality with anything like this even down to the roms themselves have so many variables that could cause problems. Which I why I have taken the extra steps to test that I have a solidly rooted Rom

For anyone who might want to know this. I have a very poor excuse for a guide on making pre rooted roms on my page now if you have a pixel device it does work. It was quickly put together and I WILL update it SOON and will add screenshots to help as well as fine tuning the wording.
What would be nice is to have the installation routinely root the boot.img if the system is pre-rooted, like Lineage 18 does on my 1+7pro.

Its not a question of you having malicious intent. Its a question of best practices for security. Other people who may be more or less trustworthy than you may have similar projects (and in fact, I remember another thread with this exact purpose), and trusting those may be quite dangerous.
But more to the point, and WITHOUT putting your trustworthiness or honor in question, how can anybody know whether you are *actually* trustworthy or just someone claiming (falsely) to be?
And since the process of running it through Magisk is so absurdly trivial, what advantage does this provide to users to compensate them for the risk?
Advantages: nil
Risks: elevated
Rational choice: avoid.

It does a few things, it in many cases seems to help with safetynet being easier to pass( not always some roms are more stubborn). It provides a convinent place where everything is at. All my stuff is open source and downloadable so you may check whatever you want. Though I don't have the source code to the roms since I'm not building them. And I put links to the roms group chat and instructions as to how(for pixel devices) to make a pre-rooted rom yourself. So if you don't trust it but want it I give how to and where to get the files to do so some also fear that things may not work as mentioned above can happen but is very minimal especially since I test before releasing.

What version of Magisk do you intend to use? Because on at least 2 or 3 occasions due to Google changing things, Canary has been needed. On the other hand, there have also been occasions where Canary broke some things and Stable was needed.
Because the Pixel 6 series seems to be "often" affected by changes made by Google in their monthly updates, as well as Magisk itself, it seems that pre-rooting a rom on the Pixel 6 series "may" cause some unintended problems.
It's been quite the cat and mouse game when it comes to the Pixel 6 series and rooting in terms of these changes, and not in terms of just rooting itself, but other things like custom kernels, etc..

Currently I've been using v25.0 that is one thing I test too and check with others about. So far 25.0 is working great with the minor detail of having to download the magisk apk and install rather then the greyed out icon to "update" but it still works exactly the same and I have not experienced anything broken so far

Yes, but there have been occasions where after a monthly update a Canary version was needed (e.g. December update when Google moved its fstab to /system/etc.) and John had to update Magisk and push a Canary version before people could actually boot a rooted boot image.
And I'm curious if you closely follow the issues, PRs and commits in the Magisk Github? For example, Beta 25.0 has changed (actually changed with Canary 24303 I believe) so that custom kernels will no longer boot unless verity and verification are disabled or if the kernel uses the latest AK3 which patches vendor_dlkm.img and vbmeta.img, or if the kernel patches them itself.
My point is there could be some unintended consequences for people who may not be aware of any current issues unless they are made aware of them before flashing a pre-rooted rom.
Anyway, if people find this useful then good for them and good for you.

I which case testing would show that plus I'm usually pretty good at keeping up with that kind of thing. It is a valid concern but since the versions I release are going to have the correct version for them I will do the same for each rom indevidually as need to make sure they will work properly. Whenever a new version is released. That too means if you are on the same rom and dirty flash to the next one magisk will prompt you to update the app(has been tested too)
