Question Can the boot loader on a OnePlus 9 Pro be unlocked - OnePlus 9 Pro

I went through the steps and when I get to the fast boot screen, I used the up and down volume key, I don’t see unlocked boot loader. I already enabled in the developer settings.

Did you run "fastboot oem unlock"? Full details and steps should be in the first post in this pinned thread.

Which version of the OP 9 Pro do you have? If you have a carrier version (i.e. Verizon or T-Mobile), then unlocking the bootloader requires a few extra steps.

"Unlocked" means carrier unlocked, so just follow the guide I linked in my post above and you should be good.

Trouble Unlocking Bootloader

I'm on one of the verizon pixel 2 xl's running pie and I've tried just about every variant of the guide to unlocking the bootloader to no success. I can always switch the toggle to enable oem unlocking but when I reboot into bootloader all the commands to unlock it will fail. Does this method not work on Pie?

If you have a "true" Verizon version of the phone, you can't unlock the bootloader.

What makes it a "true" verizon model? I bought the phone a while back on amazon not realizing that I could only get a google model from the google store. I've never used it on Verizon.

A true Verizon phone can't be unlocked no matter what carrier your on.
Do you have the latest platform-tools on your pc?
If so, and the command of..fastboot flashing unlock..doesn't work, then you likely have the Verizon variant phone.
Unfortunately what that means is, that you probably have a Verizon model version of the phone. Those models are bootloader locked and you can't unlock the bootloader. Only the Google editions straight from google come bootloader unlocked.

OEM unlocking greyed out

My wife brought me this phone from eBay. The guy made out he was in London when in fact he was based in Singapore. Anyway tried to unlock the bootloader and it is greyed out. I've read sometime a Verizon phone locks the bootloader so it can't be modified. How do I find out if I have this kind of phone or what do I need to do to enable the OEM unlocking function.
If the OEM UNLOCKING is grey, you pretty much have your answer.
There are two kinds of "locked" that describes Carrier phones.
1) locked to only be used on that carrier's network
2) locked to keep the bootloader from being unlocked and the device rooted
Yours is likely only #2 above, as I believe VZW doesn't #1 lock their 4G/LTE devices any more...
There is also a way to check the model number, I think, that confirms it is a Verizon locked (unable to unlock the bootloader) variant, but I don't recall that process.
Thanks for your help

That largely depends on if you have a "google" or "verizon" variant device. If you can enable OEM unlocking in developer options, then you should be able to unlock the bootloader.

First, make sure that you can enable "OEM unlocking" in the developers options settings section. If you can, then unlocking the bootloader and installing roms is not that difficult provided you have a good understanding of how fastboot works:good:

Go here and enter your IMEI: https://www.verizon.com/od/prepaid/bring-your-own-device/#/checkDevice
It will tell you if it's a Verizon device, or a "NON-VZW" device

My phone is not a Verizon variant (NON-VZW), however it was bought from Verizon and cannot be unlocked. Is there any way around that? (Since Verizon says and several other IMEI checkers don't say it's a Verizon only variant).

For me, it's kinda difficult to identify now as there is no app or setting from Verizon on it, tired checking it on Verizon but their IMEI checking page is down. If yours is non Verizon, unlock oem shouldn't be grayed out by default. I'm not expert on it thoug.
I bought a NON-VZW phone and enabled OEM unlocking, but after I put my Verizon SIM and an update happened, it got grayed out before I could unlock the bootloader. Is there any way to put it back on older software? It is still marked as NON-VZW in the IMEI thing.

Maybe try taking the SIM card out, factory resetting and then see if you can enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging. If so then unlock the bootloader before putting the SIM back in. Won't put you back on an older software but may allow you to unlock the bootloader.

Question Is It Possible To Root This Device?

Hello.
Forgive me if I am in the wrong thread.
I have the OP 9 5G Pro.
Software Version 11.2.7.7. LE5ACB
Sim is locked to T-Mobile.
OEM unlocking is enabled (using an ADB command found on an XDA OP9 forum).
But...
This is a Sprint device on T-Mobile network.
Questions:
1. Is my OEM Unlock truly unlocked? How do I check?
2. If so, can I follow the same bootloader unlock procedure as TMO/EU variants to obtain root?
3. Should I update to latest OOS before attemptng bootloader unlock?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thank You.

You are in the correct forum. This forum is for OnePlus 9 Pro models of any kind (T-Mobile, Global, EU, China, India).
You have multiple options for rooting this device. I will list them out.
1. Follow the guide for applying for a token unlock here (will wipe data): https://www.oneplus.com/support/answer/detail/op588
2. Use TMO to EU MSM here (also will wipe data): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...lock-bin-needed.4272837/page-19#post-86828151
Make sure to download this MSM in case something goes wrong: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/op9pro-repository-of-msm-unbrick-tools-tmo-eu-glo-in.4272549/

1. If you're able to check the OEM Unlock option, then it definitely does work. If you're unsure, the requirement for being able to check that option is to have your SIM permanently unlocked. Also, when you boot to fastboot, when you type "fastboot flashing unlock", it should say it needs a token instead of needing OEM unlocked to be checked first.
2. Yes, you must follow the instructions for TMO variant of the phone because that's what you have. If you go with the second option, you can unlock like the EU variant without an unlock token, i.e. by typing "fastboot flashing unlock" and selecting "unlock the bootloader".
3. You don't need to update OOS before bootloader unlocking, however, your recovery WILL WIPE DATA! If your data is needed, let me know and I can provide backup instructions. Generally though, you can download your MSM or the EU conversion one, start the program, press F8, enter password "oneplus", and select the partitions to backup. Then press OK and press the readback button to backup your data.
One more thing to note. There's a fifty-fifty chance you may lose access to your DRM keys. If this happens, use the EU conversion MSM, unlock the bootloader straight away without updating the phone, then take a FULL system update, not the small 400-500 MB ones. That should fix your Widevine level back to L1. You only need this if you care about Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, or something along those lines.

Question OnePlus 9 Pro won't allow me into fastboot mode

Hi.
So I just bought a T-Mobile 9 pro online and I go to unlock the bootloader, and it won't let me ! I've tried the ADB command and it gave me an error saying it's not allowed. Then I turned the phone off and tried the button sequence to get into it. But there is no advanced option from recovery to boot into fastboot.
Just so you know. I'm trying to convert it to international ROM as I have done before with my other OnePlus phones.
Is this a common thing with T-Mobile ?
And how can I get the bootloader unlocked ?
Thanks
Oem unlock and usb debuging enabled in dev settings ?

If you don't have your unlock token from T-Mobile, you will need to use the Tmo->Eu MSM conversion tool to convert to EU. Then unlock bootloader there and go on to global or stay on Eu. If you stay on oos11 or 12, flash nonhlos modem back in.
You should back up modemst1/2 and persist/efs to be safe
