New updated Sygav PX6 Firmware - MTCD Android Head Units General

Haven't installed it yet, nor was I able to find a change log......

Thank you for sharing this. I won't be surprised if their update page rolls back to the previous version. They did that in April. For a brief window of time they offered an April update but was subsequently rolled back. I am curious about the version of ZLink in this new update. Will probably install to give it a go.
Going to ask moderator to move this thread to MTCD Android Head Units General.

Thanks! I am never sure which is the appropriate forum.

Just installed it. Took less than 10 minutes with data wipe on my PX6.
Zlink is version 4.0.23 and connected wirelessly, instantly, once I reactivated it.
Initial impression is that Zlink is working much better; though I haven't actually driven with it yet. I like the new launcher, it's a little bit cleaner/tighter. Haven't noticed any other significant changes yet. I'll keep everyone updated if I notice anything else noteworthy.

Thank you @excessdivide and my pleasure. I am looking forward to giving the update a try and will share my experiences as well. Too bad they never provide any kind of revision history but at least we can go back to a version we know works if something goes wrong.

Hello. I wonder what the new launcher looks like. Can you take a screenshot, launcher, radio, music and video player? Does day, night switch like HCT4 / 7? Thank you

Here is a picture of the new launcher. It's pretty simple and they did not have any widgets in place by default but I did observe that you can long touch on the screen and add widgets as desired.
Regarding day/night theme, I did not see any change in the launcher when I turned on headlights vs off.
I did notice initially that when using ZLink and AA, the day/night theme would not change to night with the headlights on. I went into the developer settings for AA on my phone and changed the Day/Night option to "Car controlled" and it now changes to dark mode when headlights on as expected.
ZLink 4.0.23 did seem to wirelessly connect faster as previously indicated by @excessdivide. I don't know if the same faster connection time/speed would be observed with Apple CarPlay or not.
I will get screenshots of music player, radio, and video player and post those later today. I would think those have similar dark background and blue as primary color. I did notice that the EQ panel was still gold themed on this update.

Thanks, I searched and found that it should be the new HCT8, here are the screens I found, it looks good. When I extracted the apk of the music player, here are the remnants of HCT7. The base will be HCT7, just changed the look to dark blue.

Did you extract these from files in the actual update.zip? Wondering why EQ was still gold themed here...Hmmm.
I did not do the wipe data when I applied the update the first time. That may also explain why I did not see any default widgets in the launcher. I may do a factory reset and/or re-apply the update with the clear data checkbox.
Edit:
So I applied the update with the clear data checkbox. Upon first start launcher had default widgets. But the EQ was still the gold theme. That's ok because I actually like the gold theme on the EQ.
I timed the boot to AA wireless showing and it was just under 35 seconds from Android 10 logo to when I actually see wireless AA. So it does seem faster to connect.

The screens I found on disk.yandex.ru are not from this update. I extracted the amplifier and it's with a gold theme.

Thank you @Pavel-71 figured they did not update the EQ (amplifier) app but as previously stated, I don't mind as I actually like the gold version of the EQ better than the blue. I was running the March HA/Dasaita PX6 update which had the blue theme on everything including the amplifier.

Could any of you possibly share the latest version of the Zlink app? I believe it's 4.0.23, as mentioned in this thread. It'd be incredibly helpful (the update button does not work in my unit, does it work in yours?). There's another thread where they've been sharing them for a while: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/zlink-app.4030365/

[Q] How did he do this? Homescreen help!

Hi Guys,
I recently saw a homescreen posted in the homescreen forum for the HTC One M8 that I really just loved. I tried contacting the person who created it, but he hasn't quite replied and Im unsure if he will.
I don't mean to intentionally rip him off, but I just love the way it looks and how clean it is that I wish to have it on my phone. However I have no clue how to do this. I figured the best and easiest way was to ask him about it directly, or even ask in the forum itself. But it seems as though its been skimmed over and no one has replied, so I hope you don't mind me creating a new thread just for it.
He gives the zooper widgets for the top and bottom bars, which i downloaded, he gives the list of apps used. But me being a fairly new techy, I have no idea what to do. I can get all these apps, its just a matter of using them correctly.
I figured that maybe some of you guys knew what to do? Maybe help me on my way?

heres the link to that thread, the homescreen I'm talking about is the very first one by 'djkinetic'
Cheers,
Also is a root required? As I currently havent got mine rooted, and I'm not sure if I should!
Cheers,
Get all the apps he listed. He's also using custom icons, looks like they're Cyrcle (in the store). Then, simply add widgets. Honestly, that set up looks like it took him a while. I'd download the launcher called Buzz Launcher, since there are many ones just like that in the community downloads
As it's fun to find out about and doing these changes all by yourself I'll give you only some additional information for success:
'Coming from N5' implements, he is running the GPE version for this device (any AOSP/AOKP rom should do as well - as a sense rom might behave different under some circumstances)
To change screen density you have to edit /system/build.prop by finding the line ro.sf.lcd_density=480 and change its value to 400. Reboot...
This set of icons always has to do sth with the word circles - a proper search might bring you here.
Remove everything from screen, check nova settings and now start playing around initially with zooper widgets and the rest of his tools.
The result should be this screen. Have fun!
---- edit
Oooops - forgot the wallpaper. TinyEye reverse search will bring you here.
One more thing: Without root you won't be able to edit build prop. Remember: No root - no fun.
Looks to me like he's using themer.
Looks like a lot of work done using UCCW and a custom launcher such as ssLauncher to open up the whole screen
Anybody knows the white icon pack being used here?
Just download Themer from Google Play, there's dozens of themes many like this too.

Wow, that's a pretty substantial update. Can bootloader be unlocked now?
Edit, just read the other thread, great news, it seems unlocking is now allowed!
Very nice, wonder when (if there is any plan) will the Nougat be?

I have no doubt we will get nougat. Keep in mind that the GS7 & 7 Edge don't have Nougat released yet. Also it seems maybe the Camera is improved abit with the update. Really a solid phone for $299, loving it.

I am very excited to hear all of these. Mine is coming tomorrow.
I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.
is x720 compatible with this update or should i wait some more?

Widgets crashing on restart
Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:
1) Battery Widget Pro
2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

Game Tuner: A complicated problem

Hello everyone, you might all remember the samsung app called Game tuner which was for me really a game changer. Especially the resolution option it offered. As you might know samsung caps all the games on their devices to 75% resolution, so your never getting that 1440P image probably to save power. Now with most games this isn't an issue, I honestly don't even notice it. However games which include "pixel art" do suffer issues. For example rollercoaster tycoon classic. Which honestly does not look good because it's not 1:1, it's especially noticeable when you zoom out, everything becomes a pixelated mess. Here's an example, the first image is from my s5 which does still have a working game tuner (put to 100% of course otherwise it's the same mess as the s9), as you can see things are nice and sharp, the second image is from my s9.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So naturally I would love to get game tuner back, so that's what I tried. Now the main cullprit seems to be the Samsung Game optimizing service. Because Game tuner has worked on android pie for me, it stopped working after a certain update from the optimizing service, with that update game tuner stopped working and now display's something along the lines of please update the game optimizing service. So my first idea was to to revert to an older version of the service, unfortunately it wasn't quite as easy as it sounds. I'm trying to do this all on an unrooted s9 btw. Since it's a system app I couldn't just remove and reinstall it, so I tried to uninstall updates which didn't quite work. Than I tried to edit the apk of an older version of the service so it had a higher version code than my current installed version with APK Easy tools (decompiling it, chancing apktool.yml and recompiling). Which unfortunately didn't work, it spit out the following error on ADB: INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE: Package signatures do not match the previously installed version; Now i'm definitely not an expert on this topic and didn't know how to fix this it's different from the normal upgrade error though which is: INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE so i kinda felt like I made progress but since I didn't know how to fix this new issue I left it as a Dead end (if anyone knows how to maybe fix this, please let me know). So I went with a differente route I tried to uninstall it completely with ADB so I used this guide on XDA: https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/ (which uses the following command to "remove" and app/package: pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package>) And it indeed disappeared from the phones app list, but when I tried to install the older version It still didn't work, on the phone the installation failed again, and on pc I got the same error messages didn't matter if I used the edited APK or the normal (old) one. I did some more research but I couldn't really find a solution, it's a rather unique problem I guess. My rather limited knowledge about android development and ADB didn't really help either. So now my question is, does anyone know a way to make it work? I pretty much just want to change the resolution from 75% to 100% on games, so It doesn't necessarily have to be Game tools, any other tool which could do the same thing would also be perfect. As long as I'm able to remove that pixilated mess from the game.
TL;DR:
Need Game tuner or something else to change the default game resolution from 75% to 100%, tried a lot of things to get it working again by downgrading the Samsung game optimizing service, but couldn't get that downgraded. Does anyone know a solution?
Greetings Thomas Mulder
EDIT: hah while proof reading this post I noticed the aspect ratio of the second image wasn't right which reminded me of something else, the s9 forces an aspect ration of 21:9 on the game. RCT classic does not like this which causes the mess. So that kinda fixes my RCT problem, still not as sharp as could be but way better now. If anyone still has the answer to a fix for game tuner I would stil gladly receive it though!
İ hope we get it back in android 10
I've been wondering about that too. I notice there is a "decrease resolution" toggle for the stock game launcher app. I wonder if that provides the same functionality

Philips 55OLED803/12 home screen icons missing...

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me with an annoying problem with my Philips 55OLED803/12. I got the newest firmware (TPM171E: 107.1.132.0) installed.
On the Android Home screen (Oreo), where the apps channels (recommended videos etc) are, the app icons are not showing up for almost all apps (except YouTube,Netflix and Google Play Movies/Music).
There is only a grey circle where the app icon should show up. Here's what it looks like:

- reinstalling the apps, clearing the cache, clearing internet cache etc
- reinstalled the whole tv
- redownloaded the newest firmware and loaded it with upgrade_loader.pkg from USB
But the icons still won't show. I looked everywhere and only found a single reddit thread with no solution. I also tried contacting Philips support and got some general information with no solution. Perhaps You guys can help
Same here on my oled pos9002, it's a philips issue.
Any news on this? I'm having same issue, in addition lately my youtube recomendations stopped refreshing itself... I wanted to install Google TV launcher but unfortunately this tv has android 8 base firmware.

I got the exact same issue for the exact same TV for the last two years. Have you found any solution to this? Philips support is telling me to reinstall the TV but I got a feeling that it will not work...
No, unfortunately no solution for this. Icons still missing. And the new google-like launcher interface is still not available in my country, so still stuck with the grey circles instead of icons.
Anyone was able to solve that issue?
Hi,
try to change the country location to GERMANY - maybe then the new launcher is installed.

I'm talking to Philips support over email right now. I'll catch you up when I've get some news.
@IAmHuha Ok so I got some response from Philips support. They basically said, "ask Google...". They couldn't do anything about it due to a compatibility issue between the apps and Android 8 and it's up to Google to fix it. So they obviously knew about the issue in the first place and could have said this waaay earlier so I didn't have to send loggfiles, reinstall the TV etc. I asked them if I would get the Google TV update and they had no idea. But later that day I got the update (I live in Sweden) so problem solved for me. Bottom line: Try Google support or wait for the Google TV update. And Philips support sucks...

LineageOS - Is There a Way to Turn Off Adaptive Icons?

Like the title says: is it possible to turn of the adaptive icons in order to just show the legacy old Android style icons. I personally don't see the point of having these circles, squares, "sqircles", or "drops" or whatever around your icons and I sure don't need to have a uniform look (in over thirty years we didn't need this on Linux or Windows either, so why now with Android we need this feature and everything needs to have a uniform shape at the cost of readability?)
Anyway I don't want to rant about this. Is there a way to disable it?
Here is some nice discussion about this: https://mobileinternist.com/disable-adaptive-icons-android-oreo
Also, I know that Nova Launcher has the legacy icons option, but I'd rather keep my launcher the same or at least open source.
I added a poll just to see folks' opinions.
Well, I don't mind it... even though I'd agree with you but consider it a typical 1st world problem:

True. Although what I see waaaaaaaay more as a first world problem is that people started wanting uniform icons several years ago, which is the reason why Google came up with adaptive icons in the first place. I mean, clamouring about your icons having different shapes?!
In general I'm a bit annoyed that everything on phones needs to be so polished compared to other computers. And it's not just manufacturers and developers who put so much resources into this. Also users go our of their way with icon packs, carefully crafted backgrounds, skinning, etc. (Of course if that's just a pastime for you, fine.)
What's more, since you cannot apparently get the normal/legacy icons back, this is just a feature degression. So what we have now is a bad "solution" to a "non-problem".

I'll take a look!
It seems there are enough ideas how to do this, seeing by the clever people on this site: https://stackoverflow.com/questions...of-an-adaptive-icon-including-removal-of-back
One of those methods mentioned there is probably also the way Nova Launcher bypasses the adaptive icons (when you check the setting "Prefer legacy icons").
So all the kidding about first world problems aside, this is possible to solve with any launcher now that supports icon packs. I came across a workaround here:
How to Create a Non-Adaptive Icon Pack? | Matthew Miner's Blog
The official blog of Matthew Miner. Sometimes I might say something.
matthewminer.name
.
After installing Icon Pack Studio, the steps in the app to generate a non-adaptive icon pack are as follows:
Hit "New" at the bottom and create a new "Adaptive icon" pack. (Yes, you want to hit "Adaptive icon" even to make non-adaptive icons. This basically just means you want colors.)
Go to "Background" and toggle off the Shape to get an icon with no background.
Go to "Logo", then "Design, then change the "Type" to "Not adaptive" and change "Compositing" to "Overwrite".
Turn the size up to 100 to compensate for not having padding added all around it.
Hit "Preview", then "Apply", then "Overwrite", then "OK", install the resulting icon pack, and apply it. (It might take a minute to generate.)
Click to collapse
Not related to this hack, but after these steps don't forget to open the generated apk (i.e. the icon pack), clear your launcher's cache, and maybe do a force close (with the latest debug version of Lawnchair it took me even two times force closing to get rid of the old icons). And also make sure "Auto Adaptive Icons" is off (to disable making adaptive icons out of icons that do not support adaptiveness).
Interestingly, it also works with icons for newly installed apps, without having to reload anything. You can even remove Icon Pack Studio altogether. Presumably, the simplicity of this "icon pack" only has the descriptions of the background and the logo size, applying it dynamically to any icon. Possibly there could be a "generic icon pack" that can be installed on any phone that disables legacy icons. I will test that when I have the opportunity.
This is just a workaround of course, but serves its purpose until there is some general Android setting to disable adaptive icons, or if that seems impossible, when launchers start to hack this in as an option (in the same fashion as this workaround, presumably also like Nova does and the previously linked Stack Overflow page).
Interestingly, when you turn "Auto Adaptive Icons" on then new icons for newly installed apps do not get a legacy icon, but when you turn it off they do. For existing apps that were installed at the time of the icon pack generation they stay legacy regardless.
And one more thing:

Just did that on another phone with the same launcher but was unsuccessful. The icons do not change until you make a specific package for that phone.
