I bought a new AT&T Note 10+ from someone and then unlocked it. I have T-Mobile as carrier. I can use it with t-mobile for general use. But I am reading there are some features that wont work even with this generation of phones. Such as VoLTE and Video Chat and may be small other features . Also Voice mail default T-mobile app wont work either.
When I search I find many people have Flashed their phones with T-Mo firmware on Samsung unlocked devices. But i could not find any reference to T-Mo downloaded on a AT&T unlocked phone.
Any suggestions. If it is possible to wipe out AT&T from it and make it a T-Mobile operating system.
Thanks.
I have a At&t Note 10+5g and running latest update from T-mobile using Frija to find the latest firmware and Odin to flash the firmware to the phone.
Download manual samfrew.com or change csc

I am thinking about doing this. Just to confirm you have a galaxy note 10+ N975U from ATT and you're getting 5G through Tmobile on Band 71?
U might want check ur model numbers as n975u is not 5g.

No I have a Galaxy Note 10 5g model number SM-N976U and I am running latest T-mobile firmware feb.security patch ATA6 and still have 5g dont know which band but 5g is definitely there and yes it's an AT&T carrier locked phone.

It's wierd because T Mobile isn't mm wave 5G, it runs on Band 71 which e n975u supports. So I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to get 975u to do 5G on Band 71.

Thanks for the fast reply!
You'll need to flash the combination firmware and use Realterm to change the CSC from ATT to TMB, I think I saw instructions for multi csc device changing, should work for your device as well.
---------- Post added at 06:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:51 AM ----------
Try *#272*imei# to change your csc.

Tmobile uses a mix of mmwave and band n71.
And the band 71 thing is a bit more then that. They list it as band n71.. which (after reading on it) is not setup the same as band 71. Guess you can think of it like how wifi 6 works.
The n975u and n975u1 just don't have the hardware support for accessing/using band n71
I got frustrated searching for T-Mobile SM-N976U but just got AT&T unlocked SM-N976U. Thiniking of flashing T-Mobile firmware. Thank you OP for the forum, else I would have been stuck on AT&T firmware.

Please how did you get this done? I have the same AT&T Note 10+ 5G and I'm trying to install TMB firmware on it. Can you please guide me though how to do this or if there's a thread with instructions ?

First of all, you are a gentlemen and a scholar!! all this worked
AND i like to add the following to carrier unlock your phone.
the *#272# imei # thing does work to switch back and forth from att to tmo to att.
I got att locked phone and want it to work on tmobile. A lot on swappa going for MUCH cheaper than the tmobile phone!
went here to follow link to ask att for carrier unlock code
https://www.usmobile.com/blog/how-to-unlock-your-phone-from-any-carrier/
it says you'll get the unlock code in 24-48 hours. I got it in 15 seconds. well took me longer to log in and check status!
I flashed everything per @visualpro instructions. everyhting worked except the pop...i'm on tmobile. it said invalid sim. to me that said FU, i'm carrier locked and you on tmobile. so i did the *#272 thing went back to att. rebooted and it asked me for carrier unlock code. inserted carrier unlock code that i got instantly.
it unlocked and i did the *# thing and went back to tmobile and everything is all good to go!!
This was originally a att note 10+ 5g, as you can see it's now a TMobile unit!!
That's great it all worked out!!.. My mistake that I didn't specify mine that it was already unlocked AT&T phone. That was cool when you use *#272 imei and went back and unlocked it Credit goes to user @tyrone1 for that tip!
I was simply frustrated with higher T-Mobile prices on Swappa and after searching XDA many time, got the AT&T variant. On Samsung page it would show was Galaxy Note10+ 5G 256GB (AT&T) MODEL NUMBER: SM-N976UZKAATT.. but as long I'm getting fully T-mobile features, I'm all set

That's what I was saying too. On swappa they a premium for the tmobile version. Almost 100 bucks more. I got mine for 100 less than the cheapest tmobile one and it had 2 cases and a 512 SD card for 600 bucks. I saw the regular note 10 going for 690 lol.
Love xda!!!
Do I need to enter developer mode and enable USB debugging or anything before I do these steps with the 10 plus 5g? Also got the 10 plus non 5g can I do this to skip going to u1? Can I just flash from u att to u tmo and then do the IMEI trick or do I still need to go u1 first? Thanks
Can anyone confirm which 5G bands they have got working with this switch, also looking to bring AT&T SM-N976U over to T-Mobile.
Thanks.
I recently obtained a Samsung S20+ SM-G9860. However, I am in the US and am intending to flash the AT&T firmware for the SM-G986U. When I try to do this, I get a secure check fail on the PIT file due to the differing model. Is there a way to circumvent this? The two models have identical hardware from what I can see.
Is it possible to do this, and what is the process for doing this if it is indeed possible?
You cannot flash a rom built for a snapdragon chipset on a phone with a exynos chipset
Be thankful there is that safety check built in. Lol

The hardware isn't identical, SM-G986U is a Single SIM Device, your's is a Dual SIM.. TGY is the CSC in your device and even if you could flash SM-G986U Firmware the CSC would not change, it will still be TGY. If you're looking to get full AT&T call functionality on your device it's not possible as the CSC doesn't support AT&T compatibility. Firmware is CSC specific as well.

But mine has two IMEI numbers though 1 for physical and another for esim, HOWEVER the esim option to add another QR code for another network is not visible. Its like the device is locked for VERIZON esim use only.
Oh well, guess gotta wait for another few month for newer updates to be able to use another network esim or firmware flashing that can enable this option soon...

If your device is the SM-G986U it's a Single SIM Device which doesn't at this point doesn't support eSim. Does the SIM Management Screen actually display the word "eSim"? Share a photo please. The device is likely still locked by Verizon. What is your motivation to change the Firmware to SM-G9860, do you live in Hong Kong?
Im sorry unfortunately I cant post links for my screenshots or upload any pictures..

I bought my phone online.. When I start up my phone it says Verizon, but its unlocked though because I can use any country physical simcard. Like right now im using my local simcard in Malaysia. I live in Malaysia and the reason I want to flash rom my SM-G986U device to Hong Kong firmware is so that I can use any eSim network in my country for my other network phone number.... If its a software for eSim that I can get for firmware that will be very helpful. Because the main local Malaysian samsung s20+ 5G firmware model is base on Exynos 990 which I doubt will fit for my US phone model..
I don't think you can flash SM-9860 Firmware onto your device but even if you could you still won't have eSim capability. Mix and matching firmware typically has more success on Exynos International Variants since they are Multi-CSC Enabled Devices. So if you have a British CSC (VOD) you may have success flashing German Firmware (VD2) since both CSC's are already stored in the device however even then some call features may not work. Snapdragon Devices don't have Multi-CSC's and as mentioned previously the Firmware is CSC Specific, they're made for one another. IF you had an Unlocked Bootloader, which you don't, there may be a method to modify the CSC once you root the device.. I did follow a thread a couple of years back where a gal had some success modifying her CSC on a Snapdragon Device but I believe that was a Galaxy S8. Also, I'm still curious if the word "eSim" actually appears in the SIM Management Screen on your device.

Damn.. that is some nice insights.. I read a thread somewhere too that US SM-G986U cannot and will not be able to enable its OEM or unlocked bootloader.. the eSim actually doesnt appear in the Sim Management Screen on my device. I really want to upload some links of the screenshot but for now I cant do anything as Im a new member.. I just have to wait for the network shop to open up to change my current esim card to physical simcard.. its been 2 months plus of this coronavirus lockdown and our network providers cant do much about it too..
Anyways I really appreciate the insights, like you said even if I could flash in Hong Kong SM-9860 in to my US SM-G986U, I might run into some software or calls dysfunctionalities..
Anyone got th atct update for the sm-g9880 yet? Seems the u.s has got this update before Asia?

I recently got the Galaxy S20 5G, SM - G 9810.
The menu item "eSim" is missing in the SIM card management for the mobile phone.
Thought all S20 can also eSim?
Does anyone have any idea how to get the menu displayed?
Maybe with a different firmware? There is firmware from China on it.
Wanted to run an eSim, SD card and another real Sim in the cell phone.

You have the S20 Hong Kong Variant. eSim isn't available on your device and changing firmware from TGY, which is the CSC on your device, to a different CSC usually creates more problems than it solves. The Forum is littered with users who have numerous issues after changing firmware. Firmware is CSC specific so altering this compatibility can have adverse effects. Carrier Aggeration, Wifi Calling, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Secure Folder as well as your Warranty may be at risk.
Another option if you want to have Dual SIM and SD Card is adding an adapter. I wouldn't consider that since it's a pretty funky setup.
https://www.simore.com/en/dual-sim-adapter-galaxy-s20-ultra-samsung-speed-zx-twin.html
On my Galaxy S8 I shaved a SIM Card, fixed it to the back of my SD Card to facilitate the setup you're hoping to achieve however Samsung squashed that option on S9's and likely S10's and S20's. I'm curious why you feel eSim is vital? It's much easier just to swap out the SD Card with a SIM when Dual SIM is beneficial.

According to Samsung Support, which I would take with a grain of salt, a future update may enable eSim on Snapdragon Devices. The Snapdragon 855 SOC is compatible with eSim as evidenced on the Galaxy Fold and I would think the 865 SOC on the S20's is as well, however at this time I'm not aware of any eSim enabled S20's with Snapdragon SOC's.

I am not sure what I am looking for. Its currently on ATT/ATT.
Open your dialer, enter *#1234#, press the Dial Icon. You'll see CSC: G98??, the next 3 letters will be your device's CSC Code. Your Service Provider's CSC is "ATT" which is different than the CSC in your device. Whether or not you can change the CSC depends on your device's CSC. Device firmware is always configured for the specific, original CSC or Multi CSC's.
This post may be the best workaround.

Your device has Multiple CSC's which are included in OYM so you should be able to change your CSC to ATT, which is the CSC for AT&T.
Go to "Settings" then "About phone". Write down your IMEI Number. Open dialer and enter *#272*IMEInumber# (In the thread replace IMEInumber with your actual IMEI Number). Press the Dial Icon, you should see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device. Select ATT and tap the Install option.
Be aware your firmware isn't AT&T, it's unbranded so even if you change the CSC, full call functionality may not be available. You can obtain AT&T's firmware at SamMobile.

Varcor, thank you so much for all the directions.
As it stands right now, it is already on ATT. Once I flash over to the ATT firmware, would I be able to flash back to an unbranded one in the future, for whatever reason? Additionally, do I have to stay on the ATT firmware to retain those features? Or could just having my phone communicate with ATT at least once with my "branded" phone and then flash back retain those features?

You're most welcome. Yes, flashing back to unbranded won't be a problem. I don't think you will be able to retain the features if you go back to the unbranded firmware, it's not configured to allow full call feature functionality. Also, after flashing to the AT&T firmware you may need to contact their CSR for external programing. Good luck!
S20+ AT&T
Hi Varcor,
I'm new in this firmware things. I'm from Singapore and has been using S20 Exynos, but due to the extreme heat, bad battery life, etc. I've decided to import S20+ Snapdragon from AT&T, according to the Service provider SW ver information, it's showing as SAOMC_SM-G986U-OYN_ATT_QQ_0023 (I believe this means the set are unlocked).
With that said, I noticed that the software is outdated and the security patch level is on February 1,2020. when I referring to the AT&T website, It's showing as the latest software is QP1A.190711.020.G986USQU1ATE6 (June update) and mine still on QP1A.190711.020..G986USQU1ATAW (February). My CSC is G986UOYN1ATAW.
My question now is, whenever I tried to hit the software update, it's keep telling me that my software is up to date. Is there's a reason why it's wont detect the update? If it's because I'm in Singapore not US, then there's no choice that I need to flash using the firmware from Sammobile. The problem is which one that I need to download as AT&T carrier is not listed there. There's only T-mobile, Sprint, Unknown, USA. Please help.

I would reach out to SamMobile and inquire why they're not listing the AT&T Firmware Update. You state your CSC is G986UOYN1ATAW. That CSC is also associated with T-Mobile. You're not using an AT&T SIM Card, correct? On a Multi-CSC Device when you insert a different SIM, the device should update to the correct Service Provider. If you're using a SIM from a Service Provider other than AT&T you probably won't receive AT&T Software Updates, which are distributed by Samsung, not AT&T via OTA.

I did try to reach them, but for some reason they are giving me some irrelevant answer. Something like "You probably don't get OTA-updates (otherwise you got them already from AT&T)". We are having a conversation breakdown there, I think they are not an english speaker (or my english is just bad). Really? that CSC is associated with T-Mobile? now I'm getting more confused because the box is stated AT&T and it's sealed.
I'm using Singapore SIM card (Singtel), so you were saying this set I'm using right now is a Multi-CSC device? If i were to flash to the other carrier firmware, will it create any problem?

Flashing Singtel Firmware won't work since it's configured for the Exynos SoC. Multi-SIM Devices have only regional Service Providers available, you don't have Singtel as an option in an AT&T device. Based on your situation I would consider one of two options. The first would be insert an AT&T SIM just for OTA updates. Not sure if you received an AT&T SIM when you purchased the device, if you didn't they're not hard to find. The second and likely best option is sell the device and purchase a Global Variant with a Snapdragon SoC, you'll receive updates regardless of your Service Provider. If it makes you feel any better there's lots of users in the same predicament. They want the Snapdragon device in regions selling mainly Exynos devices. Workarounds are in many situations are challenging,

I have the exact same phone and using the same network as garyHal, unlocked 988U1/OYM/ATT.
I got my bootloader unlocked and decided to apply the ATT firmware (
G988U1UES1BTJ2). My CSC was already ATT so I didn't perform the csc install step.
After setting the phone up as new, it still seems like its running the unlocked mode. I don't see any kind of branding or extra ATT stuff that may have been downloaded. How do I verify that I have the right firmware and CSC set to ATT?
Thank you.

How did you manage to unlock your bootloader since US Snapdragon variants are locked down pretty tight? I don't think the firmware is dedicated to ATT, it's Multi CSC, designed to function with a number of US Carriers. You should be delighted you're not suffering with ATT bloatware! To check the Active CSC go to About Phone, Settings, Software Information, Service Provider SW ver. On the bottom string the first three letters are the Active CSC on your device. You can review this article for additional information on Firmware and CSC's.

If I am reading it correctly, this is what I am seeing:
ATT/ATT/XAA
I am happy that I don't have the ATT bloatware but I also feel that ATT is locking me out of some of their features because I don't have a "branded" phone, such as wifi call or visual voicemail. Am I misunderstanding your post from above, #6, that flashing ATT firmware would give me the carrier features?
Additionally, does the firmware determine what frequency bands I am using and if I am taking full advantage of ATT's offerings?

Flashing ATT Dedicated Firmware would give you the best chance for additional call features ASSUMING your Ulocked Device is capable of incorporating those features. It should do the trick since the hardware is identical to an ATT device. I would head to an ATT Store to get a definitive answer. Samsung has made it more and more challenging to mix and match branded and unlocked devices with CSC or Firmware modifications. In many cases you won't know until you try. Users want their smartphones to be smart, to work perfectly in every situation but the major carriers use proprietary tools to hold clients hostage.

Hello Experts,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G purchased in Canada and not associated with any service provider. I am planning to use it in India and I have 2 SIM's in India. Samsung Canada Firmware does not have eSIM feature and there is no SIM Card Manager function in settings. Can I flash any other region firmware and have the eSIM feature enabled ?
The question should b e, does the snapdragon variant support e-sim, cos am stuck with a S20 +5g purchased in usa but no e-sim
Galaxy devices in India are typically Exynos variants which offer eSIM functionality. Flashing different firmware on a Galaxy S Series Snapdragon variant won't enable eSIM. None of Galaxy's Snapdragon variants except The Fold are eSIM capable.

It does, bit esim is disabled in Canada, by soft. Instal U1(xaa) instead of W soft, esim will be enabled.
Have u tried installing a Esim? Is it working fully?

all s20+ 5g should support esim. (esim is inegrated to a snapdragon chip) BUT some of them are dissabled by software. but such a models like 986U or 986V, for example, were lock by operator and you could not install a software from U1, that includes esim support. i might be wrong. i installed U1 soft to a 986W model (that was without esim support. Now, esim works perfect. s20+ updates online. samsung pay works correct, knox works as well)
