Are there any projects ongoing about custom kernels? OC and Undervolting, squeezing the 5000 mAh battery
I think there is Duality kernel. Saw it in telegram. But I am not trying it for it is not yet posted here in XDA forums.

Hey devs and users alike I was wondering what would be the best kernal to use to get great battery life, im fine with 12hrs+ although id prefer 18+ im using ava-froyov7 with netachys kernal. Any recommendations im willing to switch ROMS except for Cm6 since it is a SENSELESS ROM. Or any kernals that already have a low frequency governor Please post any recommendations.

Check out this thread it could be of some use. Look at maH drawn screen on and off could give you an indication of battery usage.

I was wondering if their is a undervolted kernel for the G2. If not would any developer like to make one? I would be willing to test/host and kernel.

Check the development subforum. There have been a number of kernels available for quite some time. I know at the least that Pershoot's is undervolted (that's the one I use and is a popular option for people running CM6). You'll have to check the thread's of the other kernels to see if any of those are undervolted (I know most were focused on overclocking).
On the piggy website, I'm unclear which kernel is for my incredible?
The kernels meant for the incredible have "-inc-" in their title. I believe the most recent ones end with "-041011".

has brain f*ck scheduler and HAVS for custom voltage set. note this is his latest kernel release but it is also labeled beta. So if you have any weird issues with it you may want to check out an earlier release.

In going back and forth, I've personally found the performance of Chad's 12/23 kernel and Ziggy's 4/10 kernel virtually indistinguishable. Some devices don't respond well to the hybrid adaptive voltage scaling (HAVS) or the settings he's implemented and will be more stable using static voltage scaling (SVS), which is the standard kernel. IncrediControl works on this Gingerbread kernels so I'm assuming it would work well on his Froyo kernels for adjusting the voltage without a script. Any decent clocking app will handle the speed. But the script guide he has is very useful and might be worth playing with if that's your thing. If you have any questions for him, he's best found at infectedrom.com these days.

Since i have everyone here, is there a stock rom that has all that blistered removed? I can adb shell and remove the stuff but I was just curious.

I've noticed that most of the ROM's available in the development section already have an Overclocked Kernel and also UV options. I personally would rather use a stock kernel, or a custom kernel that is not overclocked. Right now I don't see that available from what I've searched for.
There are a couple ROMs I'm interested in running, but both install a new OC kernel. Is it possible to strip the kernel from the ROM before installing? And if so, does anyone know a tutorial for doing so, or is it as simple as opening the archive file, stripping the kernel out, and rezipping the file?
I know there are apps like SetCPU to change the clock speed on an OC ROM, but I really don't want to depend on software to keep the OC from occuring. I hope I was clear enough in my post to get the point across lol! Thanks for any assistance gents (and ladies).

Thanks Josh! Appreciate your input. I am still interested in the other option as well, stripping the kernel from the ROM.
I am not sure how to repackage the from after you do that, but if you extract the rom the kernel is called "boot.img" and you can flash it in fastboot so you can basically flash any kernel you want on any rom

Just curious why you wouldn't want an OC/UV kernel, you're getting better performance and better battery life, no downside imo.

I honestly just don't like to OC my CPU's. In the long run it will decrease the life of the CPU.
Besides, if you have a great AOSP ROM to run, there really is no need to OC at all. Any performance boost from the OC comes at the cost of shortening the life of the CPU.

I've run Intel chips at 40% OC for a decade at a time, with little impact.
I don't expect my Nexus, with or without <20% OC, to last me nearly that long.

glados for:
best compromise (for me)for performance\battery
fully featured like many others kernels but.....most of these features came from glados's dev,and then others dev implement it,love liveOC and is the unique with that feature,the dev is very gentle and available,the kernel can be adjusted via the control app,and IMHO is more good that trinity\franco's app for features,dispositions,colors,style etc.
i tried and used all the kernels and buyed all the dev's control app.my choice is glados,after 2\3 months of usage i don't want to came back.the best for my usage\tastes\preferences.
only 2 things that i miss:
a minimal slot of 190\220 mhz
preset pre-configured like franco's app (powersave,music,high power,etc etc..)
The kernel packaged with CM9 is faux, unless the CM team uses faux as a base and changes something in it..
Franco for me, despite some issues he is devoted to making his kernel perfect and his app is really good too for updating. Makes life a lot easier. With Franco's kernel I can say I have hardly ever had an app FC. I've tried other kernels but I just find with Franco's there is just more consistency and when I look at his thread I know what is going on almost instantly. This is my experience. I also like Fugu kernel and Trinity and GLAdos so on occasion I will try them out.
No Lean Kernel? Probably one of the most popular Kernel's out there
IAP Samurai kernel just rolled on the scene and couple of weeks ago. It's in the Sprint Gnex development section. I recommend giving it a try, Earthbound did some real good kernels in the OG Epic. Community and now he's brought his talents to the Gnex. It is based on Faux, but with IAP twists.

Currently switch between cm9 plus and leankernel. Both have a great balance of performance and battery life
I use the CMplus Kernel from here, he works with no problems under CM9 by me.

I completely agree. Franco/Lean kernel is the way to go. If I had more time throughout the day I'd like to try out the others again, but I don't feel like there's a need. Franco's kernel and app are great!
