I just picked up phone, it's arriving tomorrow.
I need to root it to use Titanium Backup.... among many other things.
I see factory unlocking and rooting seems fairly straightforward with the 1+9 Pro
I did a search in the DEV section and I didn't see any TWRP or Magisk for this phone yet.
TWRP is a nice to have, but Magisk is definitely a must, a lot of stuff doesn't work well without Magisk hiding them.

Magisk is not device dependent, it's universal. There are collections of rooted boot images on the forum and I posted a guide on how to extract, root and apply the rooted boot image yourself here too.
TWRP is incoming, TWRP 11 is not stable yet and may take some time.

Dear,
I need to have TWRP for rooting my OP9Pro but it is of course not available for the OP9Pro since it is brand new. Since i am experienced with flashing TWRP on OnePlus phones i already now that TWRP officialy doesn't support the latest phones of OnePlus so i know that the TWRP's used for that are from Mauronofrio and others. But does anyone know how long it would take till someone has developed a reliable version of TWRP for it and maybe also how long it would take till MSMDownloadtool become available for us?
Regards,
Kuno
It will become available when it does. No one knows when. One day you may see it. Or not. Flip a coin and good luck!
You also do not need TWRP for root.
There is already this thread asking for TWRP since the start of this sub-forum : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-come-we-dont-have-root-and-twrp-yet.4252335/
For rooting without TWRP, here is an explanation : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...gisked-boot-root.4252373/page-4#post-84747985

[DEV]How to compile TWRP touch recovery
All of TWRP 3.x source is public. You can compile it on your own. This guide isn't going to be a step-by-step, word-for-word type of guide. If you're not familiar with basic Linux commands and/or building in AOSP then you probably won't be...

I don't think this is applicable because the recovery is a part of the boot image and this guide is for creating a standalone recovery image I think since android O (someone can correct me if I'm wrong on which android version introduced this)

Well, this guide still covers the basics of setting up a tree and building. You'll need that regardless if your device has a recovery partition or not.

I'm not seeing c40 in the list
There is no full .zip for C40, only incr. Someone with C40 would need to pull it from their device with the msm commands that were shared somewhere (though I don't know how to do that, or which thread the commands were in). If I could find the commands I would pull my patched boot.img for you.
Just found this in my search though:

You don't need any of that if you patch the boot.img with magisk alpha and install magisk alpha once booted.

C44 is 12
Heya all,
Today my OnePlus 9 Pro asked me to update from Oxygen OS 11.2.10.10.LE15BA to LE2123_11_C.44_202201182111.
Ive got Magisk version 23.0 installed.
I've tried to update it the standard way, downloading and installing the OTA, then updating Magisk after OTA and rebooting to the inactive slot.
The phone booted up again but the system popped up a message saying that the system was not updated.
I'm happy I haven't bricked it but I'm asking how could I upgrade the system keeping or reinstalling Magisk for root.
I use Magisk just for a couple of tools, do i also need to remove these before?
Thanks in advance

You need the alpha build if magisk installed. You can find it in root thread or it's this on here
I did this and it worked perfectly:
I uninstalled magisk completely
I ran the fastboot boot magisk_boot.img of 11.2.10.10,
at first boot install the latest version of magisk Canary and click on install directly
then I updated the phone locally, when it tells you reboot go to magisk and do install on idle slot and it's gone

Ive tried to follow these steps but I found that now Magisk app can't check the root properly, also after rebooting.
I think I'll need to starts over rooting the phone.
Hi, I have intention to buy this phone. I see unofficial TWRP is hereby skkk, would Magisk work?
No need for TWRP to root.
To adapt to your device.

Thanks, but my question was the inverse: I want to root, typically I did using TWRP and flashing magisk zip. I was guessing if Magisk supports Poco F5 already.

This method is not recommended due to A/B partitions and current TWRP development for A12/13.
And root for what?

I use root for two main purposes: ad blocker in hosts (as I also use VPN service, so I don't want to keep VPN busy with ad blocker) and removal of bloatware with magisk debloater.

Xiaomi.eu ROM for 12 Turbo / Poco F5 with root is great, because one can install among others ad-block apps such as AdAway and block all ads in apps (Youtube excluded). I rooted xiaomi.eu (via magisk and "boot.img") couple of days ago and it's working great. You're right, when you wouldn't recommend rooting via TWRP and flashing magisk.zip for the reasons you mentioned in post #4 above.
Have any of you tried installing viper4android magisk?
A lot of devices are being unable to install the old viper 4 android. I know there's a 64bit version now that usually works on devices that can't install the other one. It doesn't have all of the features it's missing headphones surround sound and gain increase. Which are the two best features of the whole vipers situation. So I want to purchase a Poco F5 or F5 pro. So I am wondering if viper is working?
You'll probably have to install magisk delta canary latest build because the new magisk v26.1 won't work with viper now either. It will work if you Install viper with magisk delta and then switch to magisk official v26.1.
Normally what you do is you install the busy box module, The James DSP 4.6 module, Selinux permissive module, audio modifications library 4.2 module and the viper for Android module finally. You don't have to use the James DSP but sometimes it corrects problems in the system to get viper to work. I'm not sure how much you guys are aware so I am trying to cover everything.
Pixel 6, 7 pro it won't work on. My tab S8 plus, S22 and S23 ultra it won't work on. Pixel 7 pro with AOSP roms make it work when those are available.
