Android 11 Safety net - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Apologies if this is already posted but I've seen a lot of conflicting advice. I'm currently running stock on an unrooted device. Is it currently possible to trick safety net so that Google pay and banking apps work. Considering whether to root again after a long hiatus.

To install safety netfix. You need root

Android Pay compatible ROMs

Hey guys, I'm currently on xtreolite deodexed v2.3, Android Pay will not work for me due to the root level access, some people have been able to get around this by disabling root in SuperSU and installing but that didn't work for me. Can those on different ROMs please try and report back? Does stock + root work?
I think you need to flash stock, install and setup pay, then root
^^ this! Above poster is right,
Actually, after rooting again android pay will not process transactions. At least mine failed today after rooting again when I tried at McDonald's.
Is it checking the KNOX counter or just the phone being rooted?
Just if it is rooted
Aren't there xposed modules to hide root?

Root and Samsung pay

Hey y'all,
It's great to see all the development for our device. I feel like I'm a few short steps from getting Samsung pay to work but I'm just exhausted. Asking for some help.
I was able to flash the stock marshmallow PaulPizz provided for us and Full unroot, then flash Magisksu and Magisk. Currently I've passed root checks, Safetynet and My knox status even lists 0x0. AndroidPay is currently working but let's not stop there. My problem is google no longer lists SamPay as compatible for our device. Looks like I need to get my phone to show up as a Note5. Tried changing the buildprop but still not letting me download them from play. Sideloading SamPay triggers something called DroidX protection.
Anybody pull this off yet?

I recently tested paulpizz rom/kernel with magisk at staples. It worked fine. If safetynet passes and you can add cards to android pay, nfc will work. Otherwise it is an hardware issue.

Quick confirmation before I root...

Hello,
I've gone as long as I can without rooting, but the call of the wild is just too strong. After reading a few posts, I'm comfortable with the process, but just wanted to make sure that I am not going to shoot myself in the foot if I take the OTA to the latest Sprint version (my current software version is 2.42.651.6).
I basically just want to be able to tether internet to my kids' tablets while we're on a road trip, and I need Safetynet to not trip, so that my banking apps stay functional. It looks like I've got a couple of ROM options that will be Safetynet safe; am I correct to assume that they offer native tethering as well, or will I need to separately modify the database files (as described in threads here at XDA)?
Thanks!
Both Viper and LeeDroid can pass Safetynet and has built in tethering.
You can also go back to stock if you need to. Keep in mind there are a couple of banks that does detection beyond Safetynet.
I've been using Viper ROM for the past year. BoA, Chase, Amex and Discover work with my rooted ROM. So does PayPal and Venmo.
Android Pay however, doesn't.
Viper has Magisk to bypass Safetynet. However, I've not tried it because it was too much of a bother for me to flash an RUU and then flask Magisk on. You can try it if you are still unrooted. It is perfect for these kind of scenarios.

Can someone explain magisk and its relation to the m9 and android in general?

I know there is plenty of info out there. I have read about it and watched some videos.
I wanted to hear what magisk is and what people think of it from the m9 users and modders out there. I imagine it will work slightly different on most phones. especially when were modding them.
I recently updated my phone to android 7. Im using leedroid.
I noticed all the new roms use magisk and systemless root to pass androids new safety checks so i figured id try it out.
Which involved updating my firmware so i cant go back.
What im noticing is most of the things i actually used root for are not working anymore. mostly the adblockers.
When i download the magisk modules they either dont show up or just do not do anything (unified hosts).
Im not sure if this is just my phone or if we are just not caught up with the new work arounds for android.
Can we still use supersu and have all the old mods like xposed working? or are we stuck with this half a root thing?
Just some questions. But mainly just want to start a discussion about it.
Although I've never used magisk I understand it to be another supersu.
I found rooting phones is a waste of time and effort. I was like you and rooted for adblocking but then I found adguard which made root useless for me. I unrooted and updated to 7.0 and have never looked back.
People will argue that root is for custom roms etc but what they don't seem to realise is stock roms are always best, fastest and most reliable. Custom roms use improvised methods to get the hardware working.
The only reason left to root is to cheat games and that makes the games boring after 5 minutes so what's the point anymore..

Need help relocking bootloader and returning to stock

Hi all, I'm going to preface this post by informing you all I've made an idiotic move. I have been out of the modding community for two years due to owning a huawei and not being able to unlock my bootloader (or willing to pay £50 to do so). I just got an S20 (G981B) last week and dove straight in and rooted it.
Due to my absence from the community I was not aware of google's lovely new hardware backed attestation This is a killing blow for me as I use my rooted phone very simply (no custom ROMs or kernels etc) and have had no issue passing safety net in the past so having banking apps, being able to use the netflix and prime video apps is essential for me now.
I am fully aware that my warranty is voided and there's nothing i can do about that, i knew that going in lol. Passing safety net is an absolute must so I unfortunately have to ask here for anyone's help to give me instructions (or link me to a recent, relevant thread/video) that will show me how to return to my stock ROM and more importantly SAFELY re-lock my bootloader so that i can pass safety net again. I have all the up to date stock firmware i need from sammobile and would greatly appreciate anyone's help with this.
Thanks in advance
