Greetings,
I'm interested in buying this phone mostly because it seems to have a good camera on paper for my <20k INR budget and the UI is a personal favourite of mine, just below the OxygenOS.
I would love to hear your experience with the camera, if it supports the GCam mod properly, and does the chunky design of the phone really make you reconsider buying it?
I would also love to know if you've tried anything to make the hdr10 work outside the YouTube app.
Thank you
I intend to get one if its easy to root the phone. Is it possible?

Yeah, from what I gathered online, all moto phones have a very similar and simple way to root them.
I remember having to write a letter to Xiaomi on why I wanted to root my phone and wait a week just to have the ability to unlock the bootloader of my Redmi note 4 lol. Moto's method is definitely way easier than that.

would system be read/write though? I've been out of the loop for a while, is there any fix for it yet?
if you're purchasing now, then there's no ROMs, TWRP, or anything.. but u can easily unlock bootloader and use ADB coz its Stock Android.. so if you want custom ROMs.. now you can just wait.. (if any ROM developer sees this.. if u own a Moto G40F.. pls make ROMs for this device.. thanks)

Hey all,
I'm new to the Zenfone 2, coming from the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus so I'm wondering if you can give me your best recommendations as far as rooting and Zen based ROMS. I have the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition being delivered today. I don't want to mess with anything CM related at the moment until I have had a chance to play with it and until it's bug free, 100%. Thoughts & suggestions???

If you decide to unlock bootloader, use the unofficial unlocker as it doesn't give ASUS your IMEI and stop OTA's being pushed to you if you decide to stick with stock rom for a while...
Thought I'd mention, once bootloader is unlocked you can't re-lock it...

Thanks! I'll definitely look that up and go through the process
My advice is if you don't want anything so special then don't root it, you can now uninstall almost every of the bloatware without rooting. And the stock rom is good enough I have no complaints, knowing that I was a root addict with my last phone. There only thing that I think makes rooting worthy is the adblock. You can't find any decent non-root adblock.

Well, you can uninstall the 3rd party bloat. You can't uninstall the Asus/Google stuff, but can now disable most of it, which is good enough.
@MikeyLee I thought your name looked familiar! I came from the Mate 2, too. The stock rom has gotten much better over time. Prism Barebones is great, especially if you want a clean slate without going to CM. Also like @ultramag69 said, use the unofficial bootloader unlock method.
For the moment I have 2 months with this cellphone, the 4gb is excellent but the battery is terrible I wait it will solved with android 6.0

Exactly my sentiments regarding rooting. I've had the phone for 9 months and have no reason to root. I use Adguard and it's a very effective no-root adblocker.
My only recommendation echoe rom go check it out i b his forum at echoerom.com
It is stock based but will give you an awesome experience with amazing speed and decent battery life

It did not come with a card but I did already have one. It's the 128GB internal storage, 4GB RAM 2.3mhz Intel Atom
Z3580 processor. There were actually things missing from it but it's brand new and was factory sealed. It was missing the second battery cover and the headset that was supposed to come with it. Kinda pissed about that.

I don't want to return the entire thing and be without it for that long. Just want them to send me the items that were supposed to be included. At this point I think I will contact ASUS. I should have bought it direct from them

I would think that's a question for another forum not the Galaxy S9 forums. These threads go off subject a lot but probably not developing for other brands.

I would think it would be super easy to root a clone... Have u tried enabling developer mode then switching OEM unlock on? I'm sure if you read enough of the forums you will figure it out. The other guy is right though, this is for the real version of the s9. The clone has completely different hardware and capabilities. The methods described here will not work for your device.

I'm guessing that is Vkworld's latest clone. At face value it looks like a deal but I'm wondering how it will hold up over time. Anyway, there has been development on their previous S8 model so I would expext someone may be working on the S9. Do a search for Vkworld and you'll find hits, most likely for older models but those forums will be the best place to start.
Hello folks,
I know this is a strange request, but it has a simple reason.
I owe an OnePlus 3 for daily use with FreedomOS installed, unfortunately there are no updates anymore for this ROM.
Now I wanted to try different ROMs to find the best for me. Would be great if I could use Moto Play or Samsung J7 for that. The plan is to know exactly what I want and be able to fast flash my OnePlus 3 this way.
Even if I still looking for my next phone, I'm not be able to find it right now. maybe an Huawei or Xiaomi, but that is a different story.
Thanks for your help!

There is none as you can't unlock the bootloader.
In all honesty you made a huge mistake if you bought the phone so you could simply install a stock rom on it. If that were the case then you should've gone with the OnePlus 6t

Not completely true, I was able to unlock the bootloader. So were a few other people. I bought the code from funky huawei, who doesn't seem to sell codes for the View 20 anymore Don't know if there are other sites...
Concerning roms, i only tried the ones from OpenKirin (Omni and Resurrection). The "stock feeling" is there but they are missing some features i really want to have. In addition, the camera is not nearly as good as the stock one. At the moment i am staying with Magic UI + Root. The guys from OpenKirin are doing a good job though, don't get me wrong

Think it was 10 €.
So as someone who wanted a fold 3 at launch and didn't buy it because of that whole disabled cameras thing (i know they have since changed the policy on that phone). I am hoping I can buy this one as a US model and be able to root.
But it got me wondering, for such a tech savvy phone, how many people root folds? And how important is it to you?
I'll root it — hopefully there ain't gonna be any stupid Samsung tricks again like Fold 3 — blocking the camera and so…
I'm supposed to get it tomorrow — there should be OEM unlock as a standard on the Euro version, I've already rooted the firmware, rooted through Magisk and will flash it once I get the phone.
Hopefully - no stupid Samsung surprises!
I will definitely root it.

On my fold4 from vodafone Germany, the option is off.
Yeah — that's OK, but it's there - it must be in Europe. Then you toggle it on, reboot to Download mode and it'll give you an option there to confirm bootloader unlock. In fact - could you do it?
Just toggle it on, reboot to Download - select fully unlock bootloader - and if there's the tricks from Samsung it'll say “Your camera is going to be disabled - please confirm…” You don't have to do it if you then don't want to , and nothitg'll happen - it'll just reboot.
At least you'd give me a piece of mind for one night - if it's there or not… :O)
Do you think the unlocked US version will be possible to root?
Achso, I understood your post that the option is on by default, not whether it is available.

Usually not. Only Europe.
USA Snapdragon Samsung phones haven't been rootable in a while.
Don't expect this to change unfortunately.

Was hoping since with no exynos version they'd all be the same. I guess not.
Time to message a friend to see if I can use their address for pre-ordering and have them ship it to me.
When I first got the Fold 2, there was a "service" that would supposedly be able to unlock the snapdragon bootloader so it could be rooted. I actually paid for it but decided not to do it. I am not sure if they are still "in business".
None of the banking apps I used worked on rooted phones.
And I would wonder if Sammy would disable the camera on unlocked bootloader again!
So I just did the oem/bootloader unlock. The cameras against still.
No, it's pointless.
No real need to root phones any more, most the stuff worth rooting for is doable without it nowadays
