Just got the 8.5.3 global update

Is it any good?

I installed my brother almost the same as the global beta only the fingerprint reader works faster

If this is true, its a good improvement because the fingerprint wasn't good in previous builds...

Update worked fine here. I do get the message "Messaging is running in the background" on my smartwatch now though, but when I check the mobile there is no message. Might also be an issue of my smartwatch

Update, just found an issue, my gallery doesn't anymore show any pictures, only white place holders. Not sure what's going on, but hadn't yet time to troubleshoot this.

A reboot has fixed this issue, all running fine so far.

I got the update yesterday and could finally use FP, and works quite well. Overall it seems a good one. Still based on MM.

It is there, but I haven't tried to switch

FP is better and you can change your region to UK now for those interested.

stabilization video lost somewhere after OTA full update 8.0.3 to 8.5.3. in a stock camera, google camera. Any ideas how to turn it on?

in this moment my daily rom is from miui.it based on android 7.0 (derived from global china dev and translated to full italian) with no problem, just warning using bank app and missing Netflix...

Is there a .zip anywhere i cant update with my custom recovery

As I reported earlier, the FP works quite well, but I suspect there still remains some battery drain. Starting with a full charge, without FP the phone loses 8-10% of battery overnight (no wifi, battery saver on, and screen always off ), while with FP on, it loses almost 20%. For daily use, however, I didn't noticed much difference.
Is there a tool to measure precisely what is draining the battery (no root)?

I received the update few days ago. Did the thingie now i cant get 3G only Edge with T-Mobile. Before the update i used to get 3G.

Try to reboot your phone again, can help.

Xiaomi EU rom is china rom based, this is globalrom... I you ask me, keep using Xiaomi EU because there is no tons of google apps in xiaomi eu rom....

Thanks, I know about magisk, but for now it's not a problem, when it will be, I will decide if install magisk or global stable.

But there is a bug, , the keyboard does not pop up in order to write the password in wlan settings. Neither copy paste works from Miui activation
If you manage to have an open wifi to activate the device , when you finish the activation , you are in the lockscrea and it aske you to enter youir pin,. to unlock. When you enter the pin the devise get in recovery.

Don't have face unlock, can fix it bro ?

Keyboard is working fine.

I flashed this rom lots of times. But i always get camera problem. Device cant connect to the camera.
I Flashed fastboot ro, checked Camera was OK! then, install Twrp>>Wipe Data>>YES>>Delete everything>>Install Rom Again = Still Camera problem.

Is it true as stated in the official website that this ROM a-GPS is only optimized for Spain? Does anyone here can confirm that the Mi 8 GPS works without any issue outside of Spain region? Thanks

Nice rom but show non english word when unlock mi in setup but this rom better than EU rom.

unfortunately this rom also has the bug where GPS stops working after a while,the same as all other aftermarket miui roms I tried. developers are actively working on it, I hope they figure it out soon.
im not sure ob out optimisation for Spain, but as far as I understand it only means GPS might connect slightly slower in other regions.

Thanks for notified us that this ROM still has that annoying GPS issue. I'm about to flash the TWRP and wipe my whole internal storage (again!) in order to try this ROM.

This rom GPS accuracy 14m but no problem to me

Drove 900km with the latest Xiaomi.eu and no GPS problem

Hey there i'm just wondering if anyone has tried or had any luck with removing any google system apps , like youtube , play music , pl.ay movies . i've tried the usual attempt with a root browser but have had no luck

I just tried using TIBU. It has always worked in the past but now it gives me an error saying that in can't locate the APK.

I guess just a preference , as i do not use them and it free's up more space , but do have them disabled presently

yeah i've noticed the apps aren't in there usual spot ...system/app , had the same problem in the beta's .... thought maybe not it was a beta thing and that they would be removable in the official but nope ,
guess google wants them on there for good ..lol

Looks like the apps are in product/app and product/priv-app now. Maybe you can delete them from there, restart and have them be gone

i actually tried that last night and had hopes but no go , they wouldn't even delete , got some message saying not deleted , guess im stuck with em ..lol

MIUI 12.0.7 Released

2)A month old security patch
3)The gesture pill is straight up ditched
4)Even more bloatware

I also noticed the inability to change between the new and old control center, mi support tells me it has been done due to performance related issues. There is a way to getting split screen back with its gesture in the settings but couldn't find a similar workaround to floating apps. Camera is ever so slightly faster that's the only positive I could think of so I just downgraded to 12.0.3

With the help of a custom recovery or with MI flash tool? Mine flashed the previous global rom fine using the latter aside from getting a checkpoint error, doesn't seem to have any real impact on the phone.

Flash MIUI China 12.0.8 From MIFlash, Install TWRP, from there flash This in TWRP. Format data By Typing Yes. but be aware that you can't install TWRP because It's unsupported

You can access floating window by opening the app and clicking the floating window option from control centre

Me too, i unchecked it, but in always on display you have just 10 seconds option (at least on EEA)

Can you post a screenshot about "always on..." settings?

Can confirm it works, just uncheck that option in developer settings, always on persist even if it doesn't show other than 10 seconds option.
EDIT: some features don't work anymore without miui optimization, 3 fingers screenshot for example.

i will flash global today and see whats about aod

any chances there will be a real AOD in the future? without any workaround like miui optimization (its a no-go)... i mean no notification led and real aod, really?

AOD is for 10 sec in global rom too.

10 seconds on the global rom.
I would like another solution other than deactivating the option in the developper settings because it causes problems and bugs even after reactivating it
