I just tried using TIBU. It has always worked in the past but now it gives me an error saying that in can't locate the APK.

I guess just a preference , as i do not use them and it free's up more space , but do have them disabled presently

Looks like the apps are in product/app and product/priv-app now. Maybe you can delete them from there, restart and have them be gone

Hi guys, first I am really happy to see a DEFY section in XDA !
Well, there are many apps in Tmo(usa) defy, I have rooted it by using Z4 root.
Can anyone show a list of useless apps that I can safely remove ?
Thx a lot!
Here's a screen cap of my removed apps folder. I've had no problems at all since removing all these apps.

If anyone knew what all of them did that would be excellent. Not sure I'd want to remove 'Browser' before knowing what exactly it is it browses.
Damn that's alot!!
Thanx for the list. I would like to clean up as well, but like to first know what certain packages do, especially as I have not seen them popping up anywhere:
ArcPhotoworkshop
ArcVideoEditor
esmusica
This Kodak Perfect Touch thingy
hiphopofficial
revolver
truecountry
Is there a good way to find out which packages depend on other packages and/or services ?
all of them - use asop 2.2 custom rom

How to reinstall them?
If I uninstalled them via Titanium backup. I made a backup before uninstalling them but if I try to reinstall for example: Wi fi calling.apk via titanium backup nothing happens.
I already wiped the phone but the apps are not there anymore. How can I restore them?

You do realize you're in the Defy forum and there's no such thing?
can you tell us how you removed all those apps once the phone is rooted? Can't seem to find anything on removing the bloat... just lists of what people have removed.
Thanks

I thought I had it figured out but alas I still stomped.
You'll need to install a File manager that can access root directories and then delete the APKs using that.
The most popular one is Root Explorer. Try searching for it in Market.
Here is the Facebook Home for unsupported device....don't need edit build.prop
1. Uninstall the facebook app and facebook Massenger.
2. Dowload the rar file and unzip it.
3. Install that two app with any file manager.
4. After finish install two app and reboot your device.
5. Login the facebook app.
6. You will get Facebook Home working d.....:highfive:

I understand my friend, I have some problems too with my current rom but 5.0 should be out on 12th (I hope so) so I don't want to do a clean install now. But this Gmail app works without problems on my phone, I uninstalled the previous version and installed this one.
It works on mine too ty very much!
I have this problem too.

just select "Do not show next time" and allow it...You won't be bothered anymore...Although i am not sure why is the app asking for permission...Have u denied any permission to the app or sumthin coz it should not ask u to grant permission for this...
I tried all the combinations and nothing changed. Still popping up. Same happens when Im taking picture with Facebook messenger, every time asks me if it can use the camera.
That's weird, I've never seen that before on my phone. Is that a built in Android thing or is it one of the Asus bloatware apps?

Perhaps its that antivirus that Asus included. I uninstalled that right away, as it let me do so.
What antivirus?! I didnt install any of that crap. I found that this happens on zenfone 5 and there is a fix for that.
EDIT. What is the latest firmware? System update tells me is the latest version installed but I thing it isnt.
EDIT 2. Yep there is a newer version available. Ill try to install it and see if its happening again

Hi
strange behaviour when in Dark mode.
I cannot choose single apps to remain in Light mode.
I have another MIUI 12 phone (Poco X3) and it's working fine there.
I have plenty of apps, Google and non-Google ones, but none appears in the list.

So it's something related to my phone.
(after some minutes...)
Now I've made a reset of Wifi/Mobile/BT and it's working fine without disabling WiFi...
Thanks

Ok nice bro
Had the same problem, the hint about disabling Wi-Fi got me to the root of the problem: I'm using Blokada and it blocked a request to xiaomi when opening the dark mode settings.
God knows why the phone needs to report to "adv.sec.intl.miui.com" but enabling it solves the problem.

I have eu rom and using pihole to block everything from MIUI and xiaomi. I don't have problem since installation of EU rom.
It seems there are many bugs in Miui. I was directed to this thread by searching a solution for media controls not appearing in Spotify. The solution was to disable the dark mode. Now I couldn't specify individual apps, so I had to search a solution another time. This is very frustrating.
