Hi to all,
I have encounter a boring problem with op9 pro paired with bluetooth headset (more than one).
every time I said on assistant by my bluetooth headsets (aftershokx aeropex, oneplus bullets wireless Z) any commands like "call mom" "open garage Stefano" "turn on stairs light", and so on, assistant telle me to unlock phone first (????). On assistant the option of "personal results on lockscreen" and the one relative to bluetooth devices is activated, but: "[...]yes, but first you need to unlock the phone.".
on my op7 pro i try same commands without any problems. So... which is the problem?
It's very boring, expecially driving, unlock the phone to use it to make a simple call or to open my garage door.

This is not the solution... Is a workaround that I don't want to use for security reasons at work.
Don't use the screen lock.
Treat your phone like your hand and you don't need it.

Bank, g pay and other apps want security lock to function... So it's obvious that security lock screen need to be applied.

I see what you mean... sorry.
I don't use any of those apps and especially voice assistant. Bixby is even worse.

Try clearing Goggle Play Services data.
Clear system cache.
Try a network reset (can't hurt).
You may have to delete/recreate the account if nothing else works.
Play with it... eventually you'll get it working.
made it, also clean flash of last ota...seems that something goes wrong with assistant because the problem still stay here also before a clean install.

Lol, sounds like it's settings could be screwed up by default.

You can try contacting Google tech support. Occasionally they can be quit helpful... if they choose to.
A Bing search etc may yield better results.
I really try to keep my use of Google apps to a bare bones minimum.
I don't trust them... they earned it.
here is how i solve similar problem that not exactly the same but when i ask google assistance to turn flashlight for example it ask to unlock the screen 1st
1-open google app and press MORE
2-setting
3-google assistant
4-personalization
and final check every toggle on that screen (personal result, lock screen, etc. )
that should not ask to unlock the screen again check and let me know how it gose

Work no longer let's us carry our phones with us there for the 360 will spend a lot of its time with no phone connection. I'm assuming it will still keep time? I only ask because an early Sony smart watch couldn't. What else? Can you still set timers use the stop watch? Can you use apps that don't require Internet connection like a calculator?
Anyone?
I don't have one but if it's like the g watch you will be able to still use the functions you asked about.

That's what I would expect.. But you never know these days. I just didn't want some usless brick that says please sync all day.
Thanks
Yes, I can still check the time, set a timer, use the stop watch, etc. I haven't found a calculator app that works on the round display, yet.
It seems like voice recognition doesn't work, but anything you can run from the menu does. So you can set an alarm, timer, etc, though you have to use the touch interface which may not be as flexible.
I hope they give the option for offline voice recognition at some point. I think it would be very advantageous to be able to do basic tasks like setting reminders, alarms and creating notes etc. these could easily then sync once the phone is reconnected. There's no hardware reason why this wouldn't be possible it will just require implementation.

Also, if you put it in airplane mode, it doesn't even give you the voice prompt screen... instead it immediately shows the list of activities / apps you can do. Voice on that screen does not work at all. Too bad!

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. When you first take it out of the box, it asks for a language, after selecting one, no swiping, tapping, or anything else can get it from a screen saying to download the Wear app on your phone. It simply will not do anything until it does.
That's my experience, anyway. I couldn't get anything until my phone synced.

Yeah I talked to motorola customer service and they said that it won't ask that if it doesn't detects a android phone nearby. Hope this is true.
You have access to all of your watch apps like still. All apps that depended on your phone (like google now) won't work anymore. Basically what you'd expect.
I can't get Smart unlock to work with safe places. I've set my home address, which shows fine in the list of safe places, and it shows correctly in the map. But the phone keeps asking to be unlocked even if I'm at home.
I've tried rebooting it, turning off and on the location... Location seems to be working fine.
Any advice on how to make it work?

Well I tried that, but it's not letting me since it says that location has been already added, and I can't remove it, only turn it off.
One thing I've realized is that every time I reboot the phone I get a "Google play services stopped working" error. Could that have anything to do? Even after saying that, if I go to running applications it shows there, so I guess it just starts itself after crashing.
BTW whrn i installed the lolipop update I did a full factory reset.
EDIT:
I cleared the Google play services data and rebooted, this time it didn't crash. However safe places still are ignores and my phone keeps locking when it shouldn't

That's the feature I wanted from lollipop after leaving my Nexus 5.. Ive done just as a suggested.. Weird. Only other thing I'd try is to disable smart lock and a lock screen code, then setup through smart lock again.

My smart lock works intermittent. I would say a quarter of the time the smart lock operates. It's a shame, it's a really nice idea.
Wait, I may have found a possible solution http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-lock-trusted-places-not-working-anymore.html
Update: Yes, uninstalling Google play services updates and then reinstalling updates followed by a reboot solved all my issues.
smart location has issues its not very accurate so if you want it to work at your location you'll have to add areas surrounding your location
as per Google's recommendation if smart location does not work try adding your location via pin tips.
Hi, I didn't want to start a new thread. My smart lock feature stopped working around 2 months ago and I already tried everything (except for a factory reset) and I can't get it work. Neither trusted device nor places work. I hoped that the recent AT&T update (installed it yesterday) would help, I deleted all trusted devices, wiped the cache partition, added bluetooth devices again with no luck.
Any idea how to get it work? I do not want to factory reset just to find you it did not help. Thank you.
It didn't work for me before, the recent update fixed it.
I'm currently running a rooted version of the OxygenOS Open Beta 9. I tried to enable the Google Assistant, it does work, but I can't enable "Trusted Voice" or "Say Ok Google any time". In other words, I need to be in the app for it to detect my voice. It says that "This feature is currently unavailable for this language." even though I'm running English (US), and updated it with the latest update(s). I've seen people mentioning Xposed Framework, however that would be for Android 6 (Marshmallow), there is no Xposed for Android 7 (Nougat) yet as far as I know. Perhaps someone has had the same issue as I have, or has Google Assistant working properly.
Also, another thing I've noticed on many phones is that you need to activate the screen in order for the device to start detecting your voice. Is there any way that this can be "fixed" so you can do it while screen is off?
EDIT:
Now it seems like the only problem is that the voice model isn't saving. Because when I say "Ok Google", it'll react, but it'll ask me to teach it how to recognize my voice. This happens over and over.
EDIT2:
It's partly working. I was reading the thread about enabling it on any Android device. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70146853&postcount=2047), ChopAssistant is a partly fix. It'll not work in Pixel Launcher at least (I have that installed on my OP3), I've not had any success elsewhere. It won't let you enable the "Say "Ok Google" anywhere", it'll either be grayed out or automatically turn itself off. As far as I understand, this is a known issue, and no known full solution for Android 7 on OP3 yet, well, not for the OOS Beta 9 at least.
If you happen to have a solution, I'd love it if you shared it with me!
I have assistant enabler xposed module and it works with the screen off and everywhere else.

Assistant is enabled and installed, just not detecting "Ok Google" command. Never heard of nano gapps. Mind linking me? Or confirm that this; http://opengapps.org/ is the same thing as what you were talking about. And thanks for your reply! Much appreciated!

well, if you're on beta9 i guess you have a working twrp-recovery. what you need to do is, download the nano gapps package (be careful to pick the 7.0 version for arm64!) from opengapps.org, and flash the zip via recovery, then clear cache and dalvik. this should do a clean install of the google app on your rom and solve it's problems.
however, before you do that, make sure you have set assistant up properly, enabled voice detection on any screen in the google app under settings, and take a look into battery optimization settings, and disable the optimization of the google app. try that first, if it doesn't help, continue flashing
hope you get it working, "ok google" is an awesome feature

I can't enable it under voice settings. It doesn't allow me, it keeps automatically disabling itself. Earlier it was grayed out. (as I mentioned in my previous reply) And I can't find anything to disable in battery optimization. I have aggressive doze and high power usage apps disabled. This is getting really frustrating! Why couldn't Google just release this for everyone!? xD Got any more ideas as to why the on/off switch keeps turning back to off automatically?

if that doesn't do anything, you'll have to go the flashing way

Still haven't found a good solution. I believe it works in the OTA version of OOS (running Android 6) with Xposed Framework and Assistant Enabler. I'm actually trying that right now. As for enabling it on Android 7 (N), it's a known issue for now, as far as I read at least. So I guess we'll just have to wait for a complete solution. Otherwise, you can read my OP for a incomplete fix. Under the "Edit 2" part I wrote something about this.
Basically I bought a V20 a little while ago which turned out to be a Chinese variant and I stupidly delayed on getting an unlock code.
It now seems that I have literally no way in which to switch/change the ROM to the global variant or even a custom one. Basically I am stuck with a phone that wont even allow me to use google assistant and is in a lot of ways pretty useless.
Suffice to say I am pretty pissed off but also just disappointed. Its a great phone. Amazing battery life, one of the best cameras I have even used on a phone, lightning fast etc. But it cant do half the things I want it to.
Does anyone have any advice or ways in which I might be able switch the ROM or unlock the bootloader. I am getting kind of desperate and am almost at the point of giving away the phone and buying a Xiaomi/another brand of Android.
I also have an honor view 20 Chinese version and it does everything that a American phone can do including use Google Assistant, is there something that you would like me to tell you how to make work on your phone?

It's not your fault - from what I understand, Huawei stopped issuing bootloader codes months before the V20 was even released, so there wasn't anything you could have done.
As for unlocking, in the past I've used DC Unlocker before but the caveat is that it charges you money for every bootloader code. Also, I've never been able to successfully flash a different region's ROM without soft-bricking, so YMMV.

Thanks for the reply, basically at the moment when i open google assistant, every time it tells me to go and set google as the default assistant app. I do that and set it. It then, kinda works (ie it goes back to assistant and it will listen to me while the app is open). As soon as I close assistant or restart my phone and I open the google assistant app again it tells me to do the same thing ( it loses the default setting and I am back at square one, it will never stick.)
Also if i go into the google settings and go to "Voice" and then "Voice match" it is simply grayed out. Which means I cannot train it to recognize my voice/ or say ok google to open the voice assistant.
Also when I hold down the middle navigation button it comes up with HiVoice app that is pre installed on the device.
This link seems to be what I have been having issues with. I need to remove hivoice and actually get hey google to work

Das RN8 pro have "Unlock with Voice Match" with Google assistant? Or "Unlock by voice command" like in Pixel phones?
I need always-on listening capabilities to control Google Home.
The important part is being able to activate it when the screen is off.
I have found that Mi 9T has problem with it https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/help/google-assistant-lock-screen-t3980779/page2
Ok Google does work when screen is locked. But it does NOT unlock phone. It allows you to perform certain actions but for some you have to unlock phone for them to work.
So, for example, if you ask it what is in calendar it will tell you without need to unlock phone - ask it to give you directions somewhere and it will say " for that you need to unlock your phone"
I have a Google home mini so let me know what you want it to do and I will try it. It is a bit random what it will and won't do without unlocking. For instance it won't let me turn off smart bulbs without unlocking but will let me play music to my home mini.

Exactly I am thinking about controling my smart home
Lights, turning on TV, playing music or setting alarms.
Can you please test some of them?
The question is if RN8pro can work same way like Google home mini? Or I still need both?
I think you still need both. It can do all the things you want but for some you will need to unlock phone. It needs phone unlocked to switch on TV, turn on or of smart devices. It will answer basic questions , give calendar dates, broadcast and play music without the need to unlock.
So it is not a direct replacement for your Google home. The functionality is useful but not has good as the Google home.
