Hi there,
I had gotten the OTA on my Mi 10T Pro some time back and since the update, I notice the screen responsiveness reduce a lot. I always missed the gesture to perform back or pull the notification status down or any other gesture.
I even notice my Capacitive Pen (fine tips) wasn't registering the touch too. Previously, it was working fine on my Mi 10T Pro.
Do you notice that too? Or it is only me?
I have the same problem with big lags on the touchscreen, or maybe big lags on the apps that freeze touchscreen changes.
I updated to 12.1.1 Global via an OTA a few weeks ago, but had to factory reset to get it working. Then it worked well, except for the very annoying lack of gesture support for non-stock launchers.
Now I get major lags scrolling through items or using swipe on the Google Keyboard. Very frustrating ,and I only hope the 12.5 update comes soon and fixes things.
Look like we are not alone.
You set to factory default fix the problem?
No, it's still lagging badly.
I had to Factory Reset to get the phone to work acceptably after the OTA to Android 11. It worked well for a couple of weeks, then started lagging badly with many apps involving a long swipe (like keyboard using swipe, scrolling through news etc) would become unresponsive after about 1/2 sec movement.
Reboots didn't seem to fix it but may have improved things for a while before returning to lag.

I have a Verizon Tab S 10.5, which has been working fine for months. Now, I'm experiencing random times where the touchscreen is unresponsive. The physical buttons still work, and the bluetooth keyboard still works too.
If I press the power button, then unlock it, the touchscreen works again.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I love the tablet otherwise.

I have the 8.4 and am experiencing the same difficulty. I usually use a stylus and suddenly, the same stylus on the same page of the same site, isn't responded to. I push harder but that never works. I find that using my finger, even for one response often brings back functionality. I've been wondering about the screen protector and whether that gets old or something. Are you using a screen protector?
No, I don't have a screen protector on it. It is in a Logitech keyboard case. Do you use a case?

tab s 10.5 touchscreen unresponsive
I am having the same problem with my tab. At seemingly random moments my touchscreen becomes unresponsive. The home button works but nothing on screen is responsive until I hit the power button, putting it to sleep briefly and then hitting it again to wake it up. At that point the touchscreen becomes responsive again.
I sure hope someone finds a solution.I love my tab but this is a bummer.
Content screen unresponsive
The content screen has suddenly become unresponsive, none of the windows will open or refresh. The other home screens are working, just not the content screen. Any suggestions please?
What firmware are you guy`s using, are you still on stock 4.4.2 or on stock 5.0.2 or something custom.
John.
Hi John
I'm using 5.0.2. I've tried restarting and a soft reset and the other screens/apps work fine, just the content screen.
Jill
I had a search for Samsung touchscreen problems, most were down to the touchscreen connector coming loose due to a drop or flexing of the case, a hard reset sometimes works, a battery pull sometimes works, somebody said he flashed to another firmware and that fixed the problem, but if you are on the stock firmware that cannot be the problem, or is it the new 5.0.2 firmware?
Have you tried a touchscreen tester app ???

John.
It's a pretty new tablet so I guess it's the new 5.0.2 firmware. It's only unresponsive on the content screen so it seems like it's to do with that software - would you think. I don't know how to get at that though. It's Samsung thing and there are no settings for it, it's a bit like blinkfeed on an HTC only it doesn't work!
But thanks for the link, I'll try a touchscreen app anyway. A screenshot is attached hopefully.
Thanks for your help.
Ok, a list of owners affected and tablet models and firmware version, can you give your details so we can get some pattern?
golden422 - 10.5" - need firmware version
mlg250 - 8.4" - need firmware version
dbarkett - 10.5" - need firmware version
jgordon5 - 8.4" T700 - v5.0.2
Galaxy tab s SM-T700 8.4 v5.0.2
Thanks.
Strangely enough i installed nova launcher, didn't like it so uninstalled it and then the content screens started working and are now responsive!
I have the same problem with my SM-T807, running 5.0.2
Any luck on finding a fix?
My touchscreen was only not working on the two home screens where you choose your own widgets. I installed a different launcher, didn't like it and so uninstalled it and then very strangely those two home screens became responsive. Weird!

Seems like a common problem with no resolve! I have same problem have to unfreeze same way many times new hour. I have done hard reset several times no resolve, had to unfreeze 8 times typing this message.
When I got my 5T one year ago, I noticed that the scrolling was a bit jittery while I touched the screen. Any scrolling that happened when I wasn't touching the screen was smooth so I figured it had to do with the digitizer. I read some thread about it but never found a solution, and I finally accepted the fact that this phone didn't feel as smooth as my Nexus 6 did on this regard.
However, after the Android Pie update, the scrolling is now much smoother. There's barely any noticeable difference between scrolling with my finger in Chrome and scrolling that happens without interaction (like when I push away a page and let it scroll by itself).
Am I the only one experiencing this? Maybe I'm extra sensitive to these things, or perhaps my phone had some weird bug that finally got overwritten with the OS update - I never tried factory resetting my device.
Hi,
So I offer this phone to my wife this xmas and everything was going smooth until we found this issue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYFdyDwuS_w
The bottom screen does this flickering when typing with Swiftkey keyboard on some apps. This one is Doggcatcher but it happens on other apps too.
If I swap to GBoard it does not happen. We're on Android Pie 9.0.
Has anyone found this issue?
Seems like a graphic bug in that specific keyboard.
Please, i need help.
Evaluate for yourself whether it is related to this topic.
Occasionally, graphical glitches appear on my Mi A2 lite, (4/64, Android Pie, December update, locked bootloader, no root, intact system).
In most cases, they flickering all over the screen, and in some other cases they are frozen, as is shown in attachment.
They are completely random and they appear through many applications that i use.
I can not determine the cause.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
me... on chrome and all app that use webview... during call status bar is flickering... when switch to the camera in whatsapp with swipe to set status... and other
Something similar here, if Facebook Messenger chat head is overlaying YouTube it flickers a lot (only the actual video but the description and recommend are always working without flicker also no problems in fullscreen), less often it happens with Chrome and sometimes YouTube does it without Facebook Messenger even being open (Android Pie Dec. 5) [also it didn't happen for the first few weeks with 8.1 then Pie got released and worked well for some days then this started to happen]
I have that problem , the notification bar flickers a lot and when on video calls, it shows a black flickering rectangle at the bottom of the screen
Hi, I've got the same problem here. For me, the flickering appears when the keyboard is open, and get faster while typing, please does someone know how to fix that?

It is true that it is the keyboard, my keyboard developer is fixing the bug making it do that as we speak but in my case the whole screen flashes black instead of the little box you have
The problem with the flickering screen in some apps like Youtube, Chrome or Instagram can be fixed as follows:
Go to Developer Options and activate "disable hw overlays"
However, the setting must be set again after every Phone restart.

Isn't that bad long term?
"Without a hardware overlay every application that is displaying things on the screen will share video memory and will have to constantly check for collision and clipping to render a proper image, this can cost a lot of processing power. With a hardware overlay each application gets its own portion of video memory, getting rid of the need to check for collision and clipping."

So far, I have not encountered any problems because of this.

Mine was having same flickering, checked HW overlays. It was disabled by default, I enabled it and now working perfectly. Thanks alot
Anyone also experiencing same issues? After the PIE update months ago, everything began going downwards. Scrolling sometimes getting laggy or sticky (like pulling a gum from the ground), stuttering on some apps like chrome etc. Should i go back to Oreo? For me personally seems like this whole PIE thing was just a half-assed rebranded thing for OP5/5T originally meant to be devices like OP6/6T they just released half-assed update to satisfy people asking for pie update.

You're not alone.
I noticed this straight away when I "upgraded" to pie. Very noticeable when scrolling. If you leave the phone idle for a couple seconds (around more than 20-30 seconds), then scroll again, there's a very noticeable lag.
Another user on reddit managed to capture the issue
Unfortunately there's no fix. I wiped the cache and then factory reset. Still had the issue.
I ended up just going back to Oreo, which I recommend you do if you want smooth performance again.

Same problem here, no one want to help us. Like problem did not exist
I started having this problem since going to Pie, but the phone only stutters randomly about once or twice a day for me. A temporary solution for my phone is that whenever it lags, I press the power button to lock the phone. After unlocking, the stutters go away. Let me know if it works for you.
Go to beta one
Just updated to 11 and I noticed that my nav buttons and overall Pixel Launcher were freezing up after a while whenever I had a FB messenger chat head open. The problem would go away whenever I either 1) closed the chat head, or 2) turned off the new notification bubble feature. Anyone have the same issue or is this a known bug on 11? I've never tried any of the beta's before this stable version rolled out.
Known Issue happening with me too. Sadly google rolled Android 11 update in real hurry without realizing consequences. Almost every app is lagging and freezing, battery drain is worse and some time fingerprint registering doesn't work after pulling it out of charging.
