Hey guys,
I would like to start by apoligizing if there is a thread relating to this issue, but i have searched the forums and couldn't find a solution. The problems i am having is that Google just will not sync on my phone ATT Galaxy S3. I lost all contacts, google play, and google talk. nothing is working anymore.
Recently i tried to install "freedom" on the phone to get free in app purchases. then installed localepicker. now removed the locale picker and the freedom app and i am not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I dont know alot about all this rooting and flashing and stuff like that... i rooted the phone a very simple way from this website just to get game gaurdian on the phone to mess around with games.
So if anybody could helo with my problem thta would be excellent.
Thank you very Much.

When you go in settings and add account, do you get an error? Also, do you set it to manually sync or automatic?
Did it randomly stop or it was after flashing?

Can not establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues Call Customer Servic .
Thats is the message that I keep getting. And i noticed it this morning after I deleted all that freedom/locale pocket stuff. The Internet still works, it's just it refuses to sync the Google account.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

When you look at your signal, is it grey? When it is colored (blue most of the time), then it's connecting with Google, if grey, it's not.
I did a little google search (can go a long way ) and found a few solutions:
1- Just restart the phone without the SIM card, and connect to some WiFi network, so you can login to your Google Account. It will log you into the account, and then you can put the SIM card back.
2- Add YouTube app and login with gmail account
Go into Gmail App and add account if needed.
Sign into Gmail account wither username and password
Go through login process
3- Hard reset your phone. You will lose all information that is currently on your phone when you do this.
Select Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset
Once the phone reboots, input your google account information when the phone asks for it.

Tried step #1 and #2. None of these work. Just a quick question before Itry step #3 . Will it cause to brick my phone? The only reason I am asking is because the phone is rooted, by one of the methods on this site. That is my only worry, will anything happen if I do it that way or doni have to go threw Odin and that whole process again? Once again thanks for the help.

No you won't brick your phone. Although, make a backup first.

You can go in recovery and make a nandroid backup. That will make a flashable image of your phone which you can get back to if something goes wrong.

Wow. Ok I totally lost you there. I don't know how to make backups and flash stuff. Guess I'll just try to take off the pics and videos. And start from scratch again. I would love to have the latest JB update w/o all the bloatware that AT&T puts on it, but that a whole other project in itself. Lol Thank you for all your help.

Fantastic.... all your ideas did nothing...
Still experiencing the same problems. same error message. its like its blocking my phone from syncing. Maybe i deleted a file. I think the best bet would be to flash a whole new ROM or reboot the whole phone, and make it a fresh one.

Do a backup and go back to stock. See if it works there. If not, it's a problem with your carrier, maybe even your sim card.
Not getting notifications like you're suppose to?
I've recently talked to T-mobile about this issue and they directed me to do a few simple steps. I was amazed how easy it was.
How do you know that you have the problem? Well certain apps; such as, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram, are supposed to send notifications notifying you that something has happened (a photo of yours was liked, you have a new tweet, etc.).
WHAT IS IT: Some people receive notifications late or they may not even get any. I'm here today to tell you how to fix that.
CAUSE: The T-mobile representative told me a common cause of the notification issue. If you clear your cache (of applications) daily, or on a normal basis, it can cause increase traffic for your notifications. Not sure if that's right or not, but I was clearing cache every night so it was just a big coincidence that he said that.
Warning: I am not responsible for any damage to your phone. Please read carefully and then do the steps correctly afterwards. These steps were tested on my phone (model: M919) , and my brother's S4 (which is also the same model). Both are UVUAMDL models.
If you have any questions, please ask.
HOW TO FIX IT:
This does not take away root, your custom recovery, or your custom recovery.
One common fix, that doesn't work for everyone is to install the app through the playstore and to not restore it using titanium backup. This didn't work for me unfortunately, but you can try to clear data, cache, and force stopping it to see if that'll work before you do this. Also, try to uninstall it and reinstalling the applications. These are some solutions I found while I was researching how to fix it. None of those worked for me. So here's my method.
(1) Back up all of your internal storage somewhere safe.
(2) Go to settings.
(3) Click on the "Accounts" tab.
(4) Scroll all the way down to "Backup and reset" and click it.
(5) Make sure "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" is checked.
(6) Click on "Factory data reset". This will reset all setting and delete all of your apps and data on your device. That's why backing up is step #1.
(7) Click "Reset device".
(8) Click "Delete all".
(9) Your phone should reboot by itself and the boot up time should be around 3 to 5 minutes.
(10) Leave your phone to rest for about 2-3 minutes. It should feel like you just brought the phone, leaving you to set up your personal accounts and such.
(11 ~ OPTIONAL) I flashed the original T-mobile kernel, since I was previously running ktoonsez kernel. I just did it because I wanted it completely stock with root.
IMPORTANT: not restore your previous applications until 24 hours have gone by. That means, un-checking the resotre option in the set up. Although, you can download and install a few apps on the playstore to see if notifications are working.
Also: If you're having bad battery life, do these steps. Pay CLOSE attention to the apps you install on your phone. I know that my battery increased by doing the steps above. I only restored the apps I needed and used from titanium backup!

Factory reset help
HI, i tried the factory reset and this fixed my snapchat notification issue, however after a certain amount of time it just goes back to not receiving notifications again. What should i do?
I tried to fix the google play store error by using the steps provided online (that seemed to work for most people) and now my phone will not boot past the initial galaxy screen. The screen goes blank and then I see a solid blue LED light at the top left of the phone.
I would like to know if backing up files at this point is possible, because I'm assuming the only true fix is a factory reset.
I was told that android has a built in fail-safe that would still allow me to access the files through a PC via USB. That has not worked for me. My computer shows nothing. I wonder if there is a way to reinstall just the android operating system (much like you would do with a windows pc) so that no files are erased and just the OS is reinstalled.
I've tried booting in safe mode, tapping the menu button doesn't do anything.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated. I'm ok with performing a factory reset, I'd just like to back up images and audio files before doing so.
Thanks

What play store error were you trying to fix and what exactly did you do to try and fix it?
It sure sounds like you've managed to wipe the internal memory clean. If so your only hope is to use Odin to restore it back to stock. If it works it'll work great but you will lose everything on the phone. Though again it really sounds like you have nothing on the phone.
The only other thing to try would be using Odin to flash a recovery. Then boot into recovery and see if you can back up the data partition. If that works you can use the recovery to reinstall a ROM.
Do people not do nandroid backup anymore?
☞ Sent from here☜???
The error I kept getting said "insufficient storage space available."
I had over 3 gigs of space left on my phone's internal memory.
I tried all of the obvious stuff before even seeking help online (clearing cache, making sure the system memory wasnt taken up).
Anytime my phone would attempt to update an app it would fail and remove the app entirely. Amazon Mobile was the first to go. It's only a 5Mb app and it said I didn't have enough storage space...yet I could download a 100Mb app I didn't already have and it would work fine.
I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working.
I'm pretty sure I know exactly what caused my phone not to be able to boot anymore though. Some people online had success using a google play store market fix app that is on the play store itself (not some sketchy site no one's ever heard of). I tried that, then when I rebooted it seems like my phone was bricked. A lot of people had said that app worked for their GS4's.
Any suggestions? I wish I could just reinstall android, get the files, then restore to factory conditions (if necessary).
I still have no idea what this problem is that you were trying to fix. I have never heard of this.
Still, using Odin to restore your phone to stock will work. Just flash the .tar file in Odin and it will be like you just took the phone out of the box.
Sent from your phone. You should be more careful where you leave that thing.

The number error that came up with apps failed to update was error 923, which is a pretty common one people had trouble with. I tried every solution I could find, and this is what happened
I wanna help you. I really do. But I can't do anything without knowing the step by step details of what you did to get to this point.
Without that info there is no way to help you back out of thsi without a full wipe. So you are stuck with using Odin to do a full restore.

The step by step details of what I did are a couple posts back (I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working).
After that I tried a couple of the apps on the google play store that are supposed to be 1 click fixes for the google play store update error. That was my mistake. A lot of people had success with those 1 click fixes, but thats what I believe bricked my phone. I would tell you which app specifically but I can't access my phone (obviously) and they won't come up on the PC version of Google Play search.
Thank you for your desire to help. Is there any other method of communication we could use that might be more efficient for me to be able to answer your questions? IM or fbook chat or something?

I just gave up and wiped all data. I gotta have a working phone for work tomorrow. Trying to download the stock firmware for a full restore. It's taking FOREVER.
Revert to stock : Complete
Hate that I lost everything, but I shoulda been more responsible with backup in the first place. I am with my computers, typically am with my phone, but I was foolish enough to wait until I could get a great deal on a high capacity micro SD card...silly silly me.
First of all, I salute everybody that chips in to this comunity, active or less ! G'day, gents !
And now, to the problem(s) :
I have a stock 16g/2g D855 (Romania/Orange), no root, no tweaks, nothing, except an original battery change couple of months back.
My phone didn't take OTA updates, don't know why, but i've been updating it via PC Suite / Mobile Support Tool.
Last update was 5.0, all was fine.
Now, on the other hand, after the update to 6.0, a small hell broke loose.
First of all, until now, after the power on LG image, i had a small LG animation, now it has changed to some stupid Orange explosion crap + wallpaper. That doesn't bother me that much, but the fact that whatever wallpaper i choose, it changes it back to the Orange one right after restart...
Second, and third, and fourth & fifth ...
QuickCircle apps no longer work (even though they are activated and selected), so my "submarin"ish flip case is useless... Facedetection, no reaction... KnockCode, same thing, doesn't even lock the phone, no matter the security type. I can't even change my Display Off style anymore. Developer Options, gone, not available for this user (altough user is owner) and clicking hundreds of times on build no. doesn't do anything. Notification bar, no kind of available selection on it (like wifi or data, etc), except user & the notification button in the button bar doesn't even slide it down. Plus a couple more of these "small unfortunate events" :silly:
But the biggest problem is that when and if i turn on the wifi, the phone almost instantly restarts, and keeps doing so if i'm not fast on the touch and disable it (like split second after finshing boot) and thus becoming an unusable plastic...:crying:
So i've tried reinstalling the update, via Recovery Upgrade two times (all went smooth) but problems are still there. I'm starting to think that this might be a something wrong with the update. Eitherway, main concern is, what do i do now ? Wireless is 30% of my job...
Specifing that i'm pretty much a noobie at this kind of stuff, thank you all for taking the time to read about my problem !:highfive:
the software may be having some issues, i recommend that you download the kdz file for the software and flash it via flashtool, all problems should be fixed and the o2 bloat will be removed.

It doesn't require root.
But it would certainly wipe everything including your internal sd. The only way is to take a backup using any app and moving the backup files temporarily to a pc or any other external storage.

Ok, seems logical. Any advice about some software that cand do that properly ?
I mean all & all. Accounts, passwords, contacts and so on...because I can't remember my Google account pass (or any other one for that matter) for the life of me, and the maps to the nav app are a pain to dld.
And besides that, can the backup be actually performed, since i can't access the Developer Debug Mode ?

There are many apps on the play store for taking backups. You can use the to take backups of apps, contacts, messages and so on.
However to backup accounts, passwords and app data you require a rooted device and could use titanium backup.

Well then that's out of the question... Having no data plan, any Play Store installation is ruled out, could probably be done via PC Suite.
I've tried using Helium, doesn't do much good. I'm thinking about rooting the phone, but with my luck, i'll probably brick it.
I wonder if there's anyway to find my Google account pass...
L.E. according to devtester, LGD855 MyIMEI A6RRTN D85530C_00 (D85530C_00_0211) is the latest version for it, pretty much the same as my last update. So ,do i re.dld this one and flash it or i go with the D85530B_00_1217 from the Quick Download page ?
L.E.2 : So far i've tried both kdz files mentioned above, plus D85521C_00_1204.kdz (Lollipop). All unsuccesful. In Download Mode, using Flash Tool as is, selecting Normal than Start. The Marshmallows kdz show the exact same problems and Lollipop doesn't even want to install. It goes up tu 4% on Pc (0 on phone) and Retry appears until Exit.
Aw man, the truth MUST be out there...

Thanks for the link, but i managed to somehow solve the problem :good:
ok, so it took some time, but finally figured this bugger out.
For anyone that needs assistance in the future, let me know and i'll support you as much as i can.
It took me 2 crazy noobie a** days, and almost lost everything, but somehow i managed not to.
So, from the start, let me just say that Remember Password on FF was heaven for me.
Mainly, for not losing everything, you definetly NEED to know your Google account. For me it was setup before to back everything up, but somehow, i forgot the pass This is where i used my PC and logged in to G+ (again, thank God for pass remembering) and reset the pass by sms. Spot on !:victory:
Then connect your phone via usb and within PC Suite (Lg Bridge didn't work for me btw) drag & drop everything from Phone to PC. Apps, contacts, messages, all.
Next, the only sofware that actually worked in flashing my G3 was LGUP. Had some problems with it by not recognising my phone, but i found a version that worked.
Once that done, i removed the Sd Card, entered Download mode and tried flashing D85530B_00_1217.kdz (MM) by selecting Upgrade. That din't work. Same problems. Tried it again, but this time selecting Refurbish (wich wipes out everything) and voila ! Alive & kickin' !
Then it's just a matter of patience resetting your phone back. Enter the Google account with your freshly changed pass and the phone will basically ask you to restore itself back.
This was a long story short, but if anyone needs more detailed aspects, let me know.
The only thing i didn't figure out yet is why the Orange bloated kdz had Slow Mo option for camera and this standard one doesn't.
Thanks to everybody for their support and the community for hosting us !
Cheers:highfive:
For some reason I'm unable to find restore backup, where do I look for this? You would think it would be beside backup but no, and can we not back up all our apps?
There is no separate restore. It will (should) offer to restore during the initial setup after a wipe. Supposedly, it will also restore when you sign into your Google account. More info here.
And, Google incorrectly calls it a backup - it isn't. It stores info on what apps were installed, and re-installs them from the Play Store. If you sideloaded any, you have to do it again. You also have to re-login to most apps. Finally, it will only reflect the state at the last "backup." If you want to go back to what you had a month ago instead, you can't. If you had older versions of some apps, because the newer were broken or whatever, you're SOL. It will restore some settings, like wallpaper, the position of app icons, SMS messages and call logs. But overall, you will still have a lot of work to do to get your phone back to the same as it was.
If backup is "really" important, would you recommend and give a "thumbs up" to the Swift Backup application ? Recently, I woke up and discovered my old backup ( Titanium ) was now failing in its job and transitioned to Swift.

During the initial setup of the phone, at the point the phone offers to have you physically connect your phone to your "old phone" via USB-C, there's an option to click telling it you don't have the old phone available. Once you choose that, it takes you down the path of restoring from the cloud backup instead.
Naturally, you have to have it connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data before that point, preferably Wi-Fi but should work either way.
